The Benefits of an Alkaline Lifestyle

0

Leading the Way

The Alkaline diet is here to stay; it has helped many people with conditions that have not been improved with traditional medication. What we do know is that the Alkaline diet in its humblest form was conceived in the early 1900s, where it gained a lot of attention and merit due to the findings relating primarily to the causes of cancer.

Ever since the birth of the industrial age, man has managed to produce well over 100,000 artificial chemicals, most of which release toxins into the atmosphere during manufacture, or directly into our bodies by mass produced products.

Free Radicals

With the constant exposure to manmade toxins, our bodies are producing more free radicals than they would naturally, so healthy cells are being compromised by free radical cells, where they steal electrons to be able to survive. Eventually, this leads to a rapid decent of healthy cells which force the body into a state of acidosis. It is this state where cancer cells ferment sugars to create oxygen, enabling them to survive and reproduce.

Disease Prevention

Recent Clinical trials state if you follow the Alkaline diet’s 20% acidic and 80% alkaline food rule, your PH level should return to a neutral state of between 7.35 – 7.45, while at the same time, reducing the effects of inflammation and reversing the effects of free radical damage.

Clinical results have also shown that long-term use of the Alkaline diet, can reduce or reverse the effects of severe allergies, eczema, and diabetes, to the extent that medication is dramatically reduced or stopped altogether. Tests have also proven that as the blood is fully oxygenated and able to flow freely around the body and brain, this can lead to improved results of people with Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s. A reduced chance of heart disease can also be achieved.

Weight Loss

As the diet consists of mainly fruits and vegetables, your body will now be receiving plenty of nutrients, vitamins, high fiber additions and antioxidants. The toxins will be flushed from your system, and the body will become detoxified without any risk of toxic build up re-occurring. There will now be an increase in the body’s metabolic rate, allowing it to convert the food into energy and burn excess fat more easily.

Feeling Great

As the number of toxins has been greatly reduced, you should find yourself no longer feeling bloated or lethargic. The body will now be benefiting from an increased intake of Vitamin-C and the body’s ability to produce its own natural collagen will have increased, as well. The condition of your skin will greatly improve, now becoming firmer with wrinkles and dryness being reduced. Additionally, you should find that concentration levels have increased and your mood will have overall improvement.

By following this diet for the long term, there have been no results of any adverse effects. Essentially, not only does it receive constant positive feedback from its followers, it also still gains a lot of attention to the benefits it can offer to people in a critical condition or disease state. Any additional weight loss seen is also an added bonus, of course!

Adolf Hitler’s Birthplace House to Be Demolish

Austria plans to demolish the house where Adolf Hitler was born to prevent it becoming a pilgrimage site for neo-Nazis, the Interior Ministry announced on October 17.

The future of the former guesthouse of the building in Braunau am Inn, a town on the border with Germany where Adolf Hitler was born on April 20, 1889, has been widely debated, with opinion torn between razing it or changing its use.

The argument was further complicated after its owner refused to sell.

Austria’s Interior Minister Wolfgang Sobotka said a committee of experts had decided that the house should be demolished, reported Austrian newspaper Die Presse.

A new building put in its place will be used for administrative or for charitable purposes, the paper added.

Wolfgang Sobotka told Die Presse: “The Hitler house will be torn down. The foundations can remain but a new building will be erected. It will be used by either a charity or the local authorities.”

The house has been the subject of years of legal wrangling between the owner Gerlinde Pommer and the government, which has been renting it since 1972 to prevent any misuse.

The government currently pays about €4,800 ($5,300) a month for the building.

Gerlinde Pommer who is now retired, has repeatedly refused to sell the three-storey building to the government.

For the last five years the house has also stood empty, as Gerlinde Pommer refused to allow renovation work to be done.

The building had previously been used as a center for people with disabilities.

An interior ministry spokesman told AFP a legal amendment proposed earlier this year which would allow them to seize the property was still “under way”, meaning parliament has yet to approve the demolition.

However, the decision will likely upset some in the community, some who wanted it to become a refugee centre, others a museum dedicated to Austria’s liberation from Nazi rule.

A number of cultural organizations previously opposed the building’s demolition because it is part of the historic city center and therefore under heritage protection.

Adolf Hitler was born in a rented room on the top floor of the building.

During Nazi rule, the house was transformed into a shrine to Adolf Hitler as the town drew in a wave of tourists.

As the Nazis began to lose control in 1944, it was shut up.

Yet despite the efforts of successive governments to stop it drawing neo-Nazis sympathizers to Braunau am Inn, locals say it still does.

King Kigeli V Dead: Rwanda’s Last Monarch Dies in US Aged 80

King Kigeli V, the last monarch of Rwanda, has died in the United States at the age of 80.

Born Jean-Baptiste Ndahindurwa, he came to power in 1959 but was only king of Rwanda until 1961, when the monarchy was abolished and he was forced into exile.

The former monarch eventually settled in the US where he set up a charity helping Rwandan refugees and orphans.

A 2013 profile in Washingtonian magazine found him living off food stamps in subsidized housing.king-kigeli-v-of-rwanda-dies-at-80

King Kigeli V was the last in a line of monarchs from the minority Tutsi ethnic group, which had dominated Rwandan for many years, but the Belgian former colonial power favored the majority Hutus and backed a coup.

Rwanda was proclaimed a republic in 1961, and a Hutu, Dominique Mbonyumutwa, was made president.

Tens of thousands of Tutsis were forced into exile including King Kigeli, who lived the rest of his life outside Rwanda.

For three decades Rwanda endured ethnic violence, culminating in the 1994 mass slaughter, in which some 800,000 Tutsis and moderate Hutus were killed by Hutu extremists.

King Kigeli V held onto the hope that he could return to the throne in Rwanda.

A small opposition party argued that the king might be a force of unity in a country still torn by the legacy of the genocide.

As recently as May, the Democratic Green Party had requested the government to allow him to return with the benefits of a head of state, reports AFP news agency.

Without every returning to Rwanda, King Kigeli V died on October 16, a statement on his website announced.

“He was a devout and dedicated believer and the last anointed African Roman Catholic king to reign over a full country,” it said.

The statement added that “the heir to the Royal throne of Rwanda” will be “announced in good order”.

Dakota Access Pipeline: Amy Goodman Faces Riot Charge after Filming Protest

0

Democracy Now! reporter Amy Goodman is facing charges of participating in a “riot” after filming Native American-led protests over the Dakota Access oil pipeline project.

The journalist said she would surrender to authorities on October 17 in response to the charge.

District Judge John Grinsteiner will decide whether there is sufficient evidence to support the riot charge.

Amy Goodman filmed the crackdown on protesters by authorities last month.amy-goodman-dakota-access-pipeline

“I wasn’t trespassing, I wasn’t engaging in a riot, I was doing my job as a journalist by covering a violent attack on Native American protesters,” she said.

The charge relates to Amy Goodman’s Democracy Now! coverage of the protests against the Dakota Access pipeline on September 3.

Earlier this month actress Shailene Woodley was arrested at a construction site for broadcasting the North Dakota protests on Facebook.

The video by the Divergent star was viewed more than 2.4 million times on social media within hours of being posted.

The Dakota Access oil pipeline project, which will cross four states, has drawn huge protests.

Native Americans have halted its construction in North Dakota, saying it will desecrate sacred land and damage the environment.

Phil Collins Comes Out of Retirement with European Tour

Phil Collins has decided to come out of retirement following a 10-year hiatus with an European tour.

The rock veteran, whose hits include In The Air Tonight and Against All Odds, will play a five-night residency at London’s Royal Albert Hall in June 2017.

That will be followed by similar five-night stints in Paris and Cologne.

Phil Collins, now 65, announced his retirement in 2011, after nerve damage left him unable to play the drums.

Although the musician has recovered some dexterity, he said he was unlikely to sit behind the kit on the new tour.

He said his 15-year-old son, Nicholas, would fill in for his dad on tour.

“Nicholas is in the learning stage, and he’s already a fantastic drummer,” Phil Collins said.

The star made a tentative return to the stage at a one-off show for his Little Dreams Foundation in 2015, at which Nicholas played drums “and all the band were very impressed”.

Phil Collins also sang two of his hits at the opening of the US Open tennis in New York in August.

With characteristic understatement, Phil Collins’ comeback tour will be called Not Dead Yet Live.

Phil Collins first came to prominence as the drummer and then frontman of Genesis.

He made his solo debut with his 1981 album Face Value, which included the hit single In the Air Tonight. His other hits include Easy Lover, You Can’t Hurry Love, One More Night and Another Day In Paradise.

Phil Collins played down his image as a 1980s soft-rock balladeer.

“People tend to think of me as shiny BMW music,” he said at a press conference announcing the tour.

“That’s a misconception.”

The Royal Albert Hall dates will take place on June 4, 5, 7, 8 and 9.

The German dates start in Cologne on June 11 and 12; with the Paris dates the following week.

Tickets go on sale on October 21.

Phil Collins’s memoir Not Dead Yet: The Autobiography will be published later this week.

21 Chibok Girls Reunited with Families after 30 Months of Captivity

0

Twenty-one Nigerian schoolgirls abducted by the Islamist group Boko Haram in Chibok in April 2014 have been reunited with their families after 30 months in captivity.

In an emotional ceremony in the capital Abuja, one of the girls said they had survived for 40 days without food and narrowly escaped death at least once.

It is unclear how the release was negotiated, but a Nigerian official says talks are under way to free some more girls.

Of the 276 students kidnapped in April 2014, 197 are still missing.Chibok girls Nigeria

One of the girls freed said during a Christian ceremony in Abuja: “I was… [in] the woods when the plane dropped a bomb near me but I wasn’t hurt.

“We had no food for one month and 10 days but we did not die. We thank God.”

Many of the kidnapped girls were Christian but had been forcibly converted to Islam during captivity.

Another girl said: “We never imagined that we would see this day but, with the help of God, we were able to come out of enslavement.”

Excited relatives were waiting to be reunited with the girls, who were released on October 13.

One parent said: “We thank God. I never thought I was going to see my daughter again but here she is… Those who are still out there – may God bring them back to be reunited with their parents.”

Nigerian authorities have denied reports that captured Boko Haram fighters were swapped for the girls.

According to the AP, a “handsome ransom”, in the millions of dollars, was paid by the Swiss government on behalf of the Nigerian government.

Nigeria’s Information Minister Lai Mohammed said October 13 release was “the first step” for the liberation of all the remaining girls.

“Already we are on phase two and we are already in discussions,” he told journalists on October 16.

“But of course you know these are very delicate negotiations, there are some promises we made also about the confidentiality of the entire exercise and we intend to keep them.”

Some of the kidnapped girls managed to escape within hours of their kidnapping, mostly by jumping off trucks and running into nearby bushes.

In total, 219 girls were captured and taken away. But it appears that some of the girls may have died in captivity.

Reports say that, following more than two years in captivity and after being married off to Boko Haram fighters, some of the girls do not want to go home.

Donald Trump: “Election Rigged by Dishonest Media and at Many Polling Places”

Donald Trump has said the election is “absolutely rigged” by the “dishonest media” and “at many polling places”.

The Republican nominee’s comments appear to contradict his running mate Mike Pence, who told NBC earlier Donald Trump would “absolutely” accept the election result, despite media “bias”.

Donald Trump’s adviser Rudy Giuliani has also accused Democrats of “cheating”.

Polls suggest Donald Trump is losing ground in some of the key battleground states.

Meanwhile Hillary Clinton’s running mate Tim Kaine has blasted Donald Trump’s election-rigging claims as “scare tactics”.

Donald Trump has questioned the legitimacy of the election process in a series of tweets, the latest of which said: “The election is absolutely being rigged by the dishonest and distorted media pushing Crooked Hillary – but also at many polling places – SAD.”

Earlier, Donald Trump accused the press of inaccurate reporting: “Election is being rigged by the media, in a coordinated effort with the Clinton campaign, by putting stories that never happened into news!”Donald Trump RNC conspiracy

However, speaking on NBC’s Meet The Press, Mike Pence said the American people were “tired of the obvious bias in the national media” which was “where the sense of a rigged election goes”, but said: “We will absolutely accept the results of the election.”

“Elections always get pretty rough,” he added, but said the US has a tradition of “the peaceful transfer of power”.

Meanwhile Rudy Giuliani told CNN’s State of the Union that he’d have to be a “moron” to think that some elections, such as those in Philadelphia and Chicago, were going to be fair.

“I’ve found very few situations where Republicans cheat… they don’t control the inner cities the way Democrats do. Maybe if Republicans controlled the inner cities, they’d do as much cheating as Democrats,” he said.

“I’m sorry. Dead people generally vote for Democrats rather than Republicans,” he added.

Tim Kaine told ABC’s This Week Donald Trump was “swinging at every phantom of his own imagination” because “he knows he’s losing”.

“He’s blaming the media. He’s blaming the GOP. He’s saying that America can’t run a fair election.

“He’s making weird claims that, no, I couldn’t have assaulted this person, she’s not attractive enough to assault. How bizarre is that?… And this is what bullies do.”

Multiple women have come forward to accuse Donald Trump of groping or kissing them this week, following the emergence of a 2005 video tape in which he made inappropriate remarks about women.

Donald Trump has repeatedly denied the claims, calling the women “horrible liars” and accusing the media of being an agent of the “Clinton machine”.

Tim Kaine denied that the Clinton campaign had anything to do with the women making accusations against Donald Trump.

On October 15, House speaker Republican Paul Ryan criticized Donald Trump for questioning the validity of the electoral process.

“Our democracy relies on confidence in election results, and the speaker is fully confident the states will carry out this election with integrity,” his spokesperson AshLee Strong said.

It’s not the first time Donald Trump has directly contradicted his running mate during the campaign, with them clashing over how to solve the war in Syria.

In the vice presidential debate, Mike Pence said the Trump administration would impose a safe zone in Syria, “stand up” to Russian aggression and go after Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad.

But in the second presidential debate, Donald Trump claimed that although he didn’t “like Assad”, the Syrian president was “killing ISIL [ISIS]”.

Jia Jia: World’s Oldest Giant Panda in Captivity Dies at 38

Jia Jia, a giant panda believed to have been the oldest ever kept in captivity, has died at the age of 38, Hong Kong officials say.

Jia Jia’s age in human terms was more than 100 years.

Her death was announced by the Hong Kong theme park where she lived.

Jia Jia’s condition had worsened rapidly in recent weeks and she had lost her appetite, the park said.

The giant panda was put down by vets at Ocean Park, her home since 1999.

“She was a member of our family and she will be deeply missed… she has served as an important animal ambassador for her species,” the park said in a statement.

According to the park, in the last two weeks, Jia Jia’s daily food intake had dropped from over 10kg to less than 3kg per day, and she had lost weight.

“Over the past few days, she has been spending less time awake and showing no interest in food or fluids.

“Her condition became worse this morning. Jia Jia was not able to walk about without difficulties and spent the day laying down.”

Vets took the decision to put the giant panda down to prevent suffering, the park said.

The Hong Kong park held a high-profile celebration for Jia Jia’s 37th birthday at her enclosure in July 2015.

Born in 1978 in the wild in Sichuan, China, Jia Jia was given to Hong Kong in 1999 to mark the semi-autonomous city’s handover by Britain two years earlier.

Pandas normally live to around 20 years of age in the wild, and 25 in captivity.

Tyson Gay’s Daughter Killed in Kentucky Shooting

Tyson Gay’s 15-year-old daughter, Trinity, has been killed in a shooting in Lexington, Kentucky, police say.

Lexington police said Trinity Gay was hit in the neck during an exchange of fire between two vehicles in a restaurant car park.

The girl was taken to hospital where she later died, local media reported.

The former world champion sprinter confirmed his daughter’s death to local TV station Lex 18.

“She didn’t make it. I’m so confused. She was just here last week for fall break. It’s so crazy. I have no idea what happened,” Lex18 quoted Tyson Gay as saying.

Tyson Gay is the US 100m record holder and is the joint second-fastest 100m runner of all time, behind Usain Bolt.

The US track and field athletics team tweeted its condolences, sending “thoughts and prayers” to Tyson Gay and his loved ones “as they mourn the tragic & senseless loss of his daughter, Trinity”.

Trinity Gay was also an athlete and competed for Lafayette High School, where she was studying.

“Our hearts are broken this morning over the loss of Trinity to this tragic and senseless act of violence,” Fayette County School Superintendent Manny Caulk told the Lexington Herald-Leader newspaper.

“A life of such potential cut so tragically short,” tweeted Julian Tackett, commissioner of the Kentucky High School Athletics Association.

Other athletes also tweeted their condolences.

Police have launched a murder investigation into the shooting, which happened at about 04:00 local time outside the Cook Out restaurant in the city, Lexington police said in a statement.

Witnesses reported an exchange of gunfire between two vehicles, a gray Dodge Charger and a dark-colored sports car with tinted windows.

Trinity Gay – who is not thought to have been in any of the vehicles – was taken to University of Kentucky hospital in a private car.

Officers located the Dodge Charger and detained two people for questioning but were still searching for the other vehicle, police said.

Thailand: Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn’s Coronation Held off for a Year

0

According to Thai government officials, Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn wants his coronation held off for at least a year.

Following King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s death on October 13, the crown prince wants more time to mourn his father.

Former PM Prem Tinsulanonda is standing in as regent.

Current PM Prayuth Chan-ocha sought to reassure Thais about the succession in a TV address on October 15, saying they should not worry.

This issue was discussed when Crown Prince Vajiralongkorn summoned the regent and Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha for an audience, according to Gen. Prayuth.

Crown Prince Vajiralongkorn, 64, “asked the people not to be confused or worry about the country’s administration or even about the succession”, Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha said in his TV statement.

“He said at this time everyone is sad, he is still sad, so every side should wait until we pass this sad time.”

Questions about the crown prince’s capabilities have been raised in the past, although the strict lese-majeste laws prevents any open discussion of these.

Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha took power in a military coup in 2014 which overthrew the civilian government. He has promised elections in 2017.

The monarchy is seen as a unifying force in Thailand at times of political upheaval and King Bhumibol, who died aged 88, was a figure revered by many Thais.

The military government has made clear that Crown Prince Vajiralongkorn will be the new king, but it just isn’t clear when this will happen.

Thailand is beginning a year of official mourning, and entertainment such as TV shows and sports events has been canceled or toned down.

Many Thais are wearing black and mourners have continued to converge on the Grand Palace in central Bangkok to pay their respects to King Bhumibol by signing a book of condolences.

It is unclear when the king’s cremation will take place but it is thought the ceremony could be months away.

List of Women Accusing Donald Trump of Inappropriate Contact

According to latest polls, Donald Trump is losing ground in some of the key battleground states following the publication of a recording in which he made inappropriate remarks about women, which sparked a string of assault claims.

His denial, though, has opened the floodgates for women who are now accusing him of harassment spanning from groping on planes to unwanted advances in the Trump Tower.

Kristin Anderson told the Washington Post Donald Trump touched her through her underwear at a Manhattan nightspot in the 1990s.

Summer Zervos was a contestant on The Apprentice in 2006, and said Donald Trump forced himself on her at the Beverly Hills Hotel in 2007.

Jessica Leeds told the New York Times that when she was 38, Donald Trump touched her “like an octopus” in the first-class cabin of a flight in the 1980s.

Natasha Stoynoff told People magazine that Donald Trump “forced his tongue through her throat” when she went to interview the Trumps ahead of their first wedding anniversary in 2005

Mindy McGillivray told the Palm Beach Post that when she was 23, Donald Trump grabbed her bottom at his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida in 2003.

Temple Taggart, former Miss Utah, told NBC News Donald Trump kissed her on the lips in 1997, when she was 21.

Donald Trump has denied attacking any of the women who have made allegations against him, saying the claims are part of a plot to damage his campaign.

Donald Trump Accuses Hillary Clinton of Being Pumped Up during Debate

Donald Trump has accused Hillary Clinton of being “pumped up” during their last presidential debate, saying they should both be tested for drugs before the next one.

The Republican nominee also suggested the presidential race was looking like a “rigged election”.

The comments came in the wake of the publication of a recording in which Donald Trump made inappropriate remarks, which sparked a string of assault claims.

According to latest polls, Donald Trump is losing ground in some of the key battleground states.

Speaking at a rally in New Hampshire, Donald Trump said Hilalry Clinton had been “all pumped up” at the beginning of the last debate but could “barely reach her car” at the end.

“We should take a drugs test,” the billionaire said.

Donald Trump did not provide any evidence to back up his claim.

Meanwhile the Clinton campaign has hit back against Donald Trump’s contention that women accusing him of assault are part of a scheme to help elect Hillary Clinton president.

Voting was to be encouraged and not “dismissed or undermined because a candidate is afraid he’s going to lose”, Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager Robby Mook said.

Robby Mook said he expected a record turnout because voters could see through what he described as Donald Trump’s “shameful attempts to undermine an election weeks before it happens”.

Republican House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan said he was “fully confident” that the November election would be carried out “with integrity”, according to his spokeswoman AshLee Strong.

Paul Ryan, the most senior elected Republican official, has said he will not defend Donald Trump in the wake of the recording of the nominee’s obscene comments.

However, Paul Ryan has stopped short of ending his endorsement of Donald Trump.

The latest person to come forward is 63-year-old Cathy Heller, who told the Guardian that Donald Trump grabbed her and “went for the lips” during their first and only meeting 20 years ago, during a Mother’s Day event at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida.

A spokesman for Donald Trump rejected the claim.

Donald Trump has denied attacking any of the women who have made allegations against him, saying the claims are part of a plot to damage his campaign.

The final presidential debate takes place on October 19.

Pentagon: North Korea Conducted Unsuccessful Missile Test

0

According to the Pentagon, North Korea has recently conducted an unsuccessful test launch of an intermediate ballistic missile.

The Musudan missile has an estimated range of up to 2,500 miles, enough to hit South Korea, Japan and the US territory of Guam.

Pyongyang has not reacted to the news.

North Korea has made a number of missile-related tests this year, despite being banned by the UN from any use of ballistic or nuclear technology.North Korea missile launch 2015

The move comes amid concerns that North Korea may soon launch another long-range rocket or conduct a nuclear test.

The test took place near the north-western city of Kusong at 03:33 GMT on October 15, the Pentagon said in a statement.

US Navy Commander Gary Ross said the missile launch “did not pose a threat to North America”.

South Korea confirmed the failed launch, and said in a statement it strongly condemned the actions of North Korea.

The Yonhap news agency reported the missile was believed to have exploded soon after its launch, without citing a source for the information.

Pyongyang insists its space program is for peaceful purposes.

The US, South Korea and even China, the country’s main ally, say the recent rocket launches are aimed at developing inter-continental ballistic missiles.

North Korea regularly makes claims about the progress of its nuclear and missile programs, but analysts say most of them are impossible to independently verify.

Donald Trump Rejects Fresh Claims of Assault from Kristin Anderson and Summer Zervos

Donald Trump has rejected fresh claims of assault, saying they are part of a plot to damage his presidential campaign.

The Republican candidate told a rally in North Carolina on October 14: “It’s not hard to find a small handful of people willing to make false smears.”

Two new accusations came from an ex-Apprentice contestant who cited a 2007 incident and a woman who described a case from the early 1990s.

The latest polls suggest Donald Trump is losing ground in some of the key battleground states.

During the rally, Donald Trump said the accusations were “sick” and false, and driven by fame, money or politics.

“Or for the simple reason they want to stop our movement, they want to stop our campaign. Very simple,” he told the crowd.

The New York billionaire added: “These claims defy reason, truth, logic, common sense. They are made without supporting witnesses.

“When the media does what they’re doing now, that’s rigging the system… The election is rigged.”

Saying he was ignoring his own advisers by commenting on the allegations, Donald Trump suggested that he would never have been attracted to Jessica Leeds, one of this accusers.

“Believe me, she would not be my first choice, that I can tell you.”

One of the new allegations involves Kristin Anderson, who told the Washington Post Donald Trump touched her through her underwear at a Manhattan nightspot in the 1990s.

Kristin Anderson, now 46, said she was “very grossed out and weirded out”.

The publication said it had approached Kristin Anderson after learning of her story through a third party, and she had spent several days deciding whether to go public.

Donald Trump’s spokeswoman, Hope Hicks, said in a statement emailed to the Washington Post: “Mr. Trump strongly denies this phony allegation by someone looking to get some free publicity. It is totally ridiculous.”

Meanwhile, Summer Zervos, who was a contestant on season five of The Apprentice in 2006, said Donald Trump forced himself on her at a the Beverly Hills Hotel.

Summer Zervos, now 41, had been invited by Donald Trump to discuss job opportunities.

She told an emotional news conference in Los Angeles that she met Donald Trump in 2007 in a bungalow at the Beverly Hills Hotel, where the property mogul greeted her by kissing her on the mouth.

Summer Zervos said Donald Trump asked her to sit next to him on a sofa where he “grabbed my shoulder and began kissing me again very aggressively and placed his hand on my breast”.

She fought back tears as she said Donald Trump attempted to lead her into the bedroom, even as she fended off his advances.

Summer Zervos was flanked during the press conference by well-known lawyer Gloria Allred, who has previously represented alleged assault victims of entertainer Bill Cosby.

At the time of the alleged assault, Donald Trump was newly married to his third and current wife, Melania.

Summer Zervos said she was spurred to come forward after Donald Trump denied during October 9 presidential debate ever having committed assault.

Donald Trump rebutted the suggestion on national TV as he was asked about a leaked recording from 2005 in which he is heard bragging that he can force himself on women because he is a star.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump’s campaign presented a British man who disputed the account of Jessica Leeds, now 74. She alleged that when she was 38, Donald Trump groped her on a flight to New York, acting “like an octopus”.

The New York Post reported that Anthony Gilberthorpe contacted Donald Trump’s campaign to counter the claim.

In an interview with the paper Anthony Gilberthorpe said: “I was there, I was in a position to know that what she said was wrong, wrong, wrong.”

Latin America’s First Elephant Sanctuary Opens in Brazil

Brazil has opened Latin America’s elephant sanctuary to provide a home for an estimated 50 circus animals from across the region.

The first residents of the elephant sanctuary are Guida and Maia, both over 40 years old.

Elephants are able to differentiate between ethnicities and genders, and can tell an adult from a child

They will be provided with veterinary care and live out their lives in forested areas with pastures.

US-based Global Sanctuary for Elephants bought the land to give the animals a refuge as zoos in the region close and more laws prohibit the use of animals in circuses.

Both elephants are thought to have come from Thailand, where they were illegally taken to be used in circus, Brazil’s G1 website reports.

The Global Sanctuary for Elephants bought the land of 2,800 acres, for $1 million to be paid over five years.

The area is located in the western state of Mato Grosso.

The first phase of the project will host up to six animals.

The elephant sanctuary will not be open for visitors.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Phones Banned on All US Flights

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phones have been banned on all US flights after reports of the device catching fire, the US Department of Transportation has announced.

Passengers will not be able to take their Galaxy Note 7 phones on flights or in their luggage to and from the US from 16:00 GMT on October 15. The passengers attempting to travel with the device are informed that the phone will be confiscated and the traveler can be fined.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) had previously advised against packing the phones in luggage.

This week, Samsung permanently stopped Galaxy Note 7 production.

Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx said in a statement: “We recognize that banning these phones from airlines will inconvenience some passengers, but the safety of all those aboard an aircraft must take priority.

“We are taking this additional step because even one fire incident in-flight poses a high risk of severe personal injury and puts many lives at risk.”

The South Korean tech giant recalled around 2.5 million Galaxy Note 7phones in September after complaints of exploding batteries.

While the company later insisted that all replaced devices were safe, there were reports that those phones were catching fire too.

Samsung then said it would stop Galaxy Note 7 production.

US Consumer Product Safety Commission Chairman Elliot Kaye said: “The fire hazard with the original Note 7 and with the replacement Note 7 is simply too great for anyone to risk it and not respond to this official recall.

“I would like to remind consumers once again to take advantage of the remedies offered, including a full refund. It’s the right thing to do and the safest thing to do.”

El Chapo Guzman to Be Extradited to US by February 2017

Mexican drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman will be extradited to the United States by February 2017, Mexico’s top security official says.

However, El Chapo Guzman can appeal any decision to extradite him and his lawyers say they will “fight until the end”.

El Chapo Guzman faces multiple charges in the US, including drug trafficking and murder.

The drug lord is being held in a maximum security prison in Ciudad Juarez, near the US border.El Chapo Guzman extradition to US

El Chapo Guzman was arrested in January after six months on the run following his escape through a tunnel in his jail cell.

He had already escaped a maximum security facility once before, spending 13 years at large.

In a TV interview, Renato Sales Heredia, Mexico’s national security commissioner, said that the government hoped to extradite the cartel boss “in January or February”.

However, El Chapo Guzman’s lawyer, Jose Refugio Rodriguez, said there were too many appeals pending for the extradition to happen so quickly.

“That’s not enough time,” Jose Refugio Rodriguez said, adding that the only way to send Guzman to the US by early next year would be “to take him out [of jail] by force”.

Mexico agreed to transfer El Chapo Guzman in May after the US guaranteed he would not face the death penalty.

A judge began reviewing the case in September, but it is unclear when a ruling will be announced.

Jadon and Anias McDonald: Conjoined Twins Separated in New York

A team of surgeons in New York have separated twins Jadon and Anias McDonald who were conjoined at the tops of their heads.

The 13-month-olds underwent 16 hours of surgery, and are now undergoing additional procedures to rebuild their skulls.

On October 14, the boys’ mother, Nicole McDonald, wrote on Facebook that she is excited but “aches with the uncertainty of the future”.

Nicole McDonald also posted a photo of Jadon alone in his own hospital bed.

“I actually asked why they rearranged the room because I hadn’t really internalized the idea that there would be two beds in here,” she wrote with the photo, also wishing her son a “happy rebirth day”.

In an earlier post, Nicole McDonald wrote: “It’s a bit surreal to sit here and type this… I should feel so happy… TWO SEPARATE BABIES!!!…and yet I ache with the uncertainty of the future.”

The boys were born with shared blood vessels and brain tissues, a very rare condition that occurs once in about 10 million births, doctors say.

Dr. James Goodrich from Montefiore Medical Center, who has performed similar operations for other children including two Syrian twins earlier this year, prepared for the operation by creating 3D models of the attached heads.

The McDonalds moved house with their two-year-old son and twin boys from Chicago to New York to be closer to Montefiore hospital.

The twins’ family has raised more than $100,000 for the costs of surgery.

Mike Pence: New Evidence Will Back Donald Trump Grope Denial

Donald Trump’s running mate Mike Pence has said new evidence will emerge on October 14 that will undermine the latest accusations against the Republican presidential candidate.

Mike Pence said the “Clinton political machine” was using slander and lies to deflect from real issues.

Several women have accused Donald Trump of groping them or kissing them forcibly, which he has strongly denied.

First Lady Michelle Obama said some of Donald Trump’s boasts about women were “shocking and demeaning”.

On October 14, President Barack Obama said America was a better place than Donald Trump’s remarks about women, minorities and other group suggested it was.

Donald Trump was heard bragging on tape that he could force himself on women because he was a star.

However, Mike Pence rejected Michelle Obama’s description, saying he did not understand the basis of her claim.

Donald Trump had categorically denied the allegations and they are unsubstantiated, said the Indiana governor.

“Before the day is out there will be more evidence publicly that calls into question these allegations.”

More information will back Donald Trump’s claim that “this is all categorically false”.

When the 2005 video tape of Donald Trump’s inappropriate remarks emerged last week, Mike Pence was unequivocal in his condemnation of the remarks.

However, for dozens of Republicans, strong words were not enough and they said they could no longer endorse their party’s nominee.

At the second presidential debate on October 9, Donald Trump denied that he had ever committed assault.

A few days later, women began to come forward with stories of Donald Trump forcing himself on them.

On October 13, he was defiant, calling the women “horrible liars”.

Polls suggest Donald Trump is losing ground in some of the key battleground states.

Donald Trump Denies Latest Groping Claims

Donald Trump has told supporters in Florida that latest groping claims are “totally and absolutely false”.

He said the women making the allegations were “horrible liars” and the media was colluding with rival Hillary Clinton.

Several women say Donald Trump groped them or forcibly kissed them.

First Lady Michelle Obama earlier said Donald Trump’s boasts about groping women were “shocking and demeaning”.

“Leaders should meet a basic standard of human decency,” she said during a campaign appearance in New Hampshire.

Seeing Donald Trump make inappropriate comments about women, on a video leaked last week to the Washington Post, “has shaken me to my core in a way that I cannot have predicted,” Michelle Obama said, her voice cracking with emotion.

The first lady never mentioned Donald Trump by name but her references made her target obvious.

Two women told the New York Times that Donald Trump groped or kissed them.

A People magazine reporter also said she was forcibly kissed, while another woman said Donald Trump grabbed her bottom.

Making his first public appearance since the allegations were made, Donald Trump told a rally in West Palm Beach these stories were “a conspiracy against the American people” by the political and media establishment.

Donald Trump said he had evidence the accusations were unfounded and would release that at the “appropriate time”.

In one reference, the Republican presidential runner appeared to imply People magazine writer Natasha Stoynoff could not have been telling the truth because of her appearance.

“Take a look. You take a look. Look at her, look at her words, you tell me what you think. I don’t think so, I don’t think so.”

The media, Donald Trump said, “will seek to destroy your career and your family”.

Donald Trump has threatened to sue the New York Times, which published accusations from two women on October 12.

The publication has responded by saying it would welcome the opportunity to make its case in court.

Many of the women said Donald Trump’s denial during the second presidential debate prompted them to come forward.

Hillary Clinton denies handling classified information in her private emails.

Questions over her use of a private email server while secretary of state have dogged her presidential campaign.

Hillary Clinton’ responses under oath to the Judicial Watch group were provided by her lawyer, David Kendall.

She also made various legal objections to the wording or formation of 18 of the 25 questions, the documents show.

Correspondents say Hillary Clinton’s answers provide no new information beyond what she told FBI agents during a recent investigation.

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said the group’s lawyers would be closely reviewing her responses.

“Mrs. Clinton’s refusal to answer many of the questions in a clear and straightforward manner further reflects disdain for the rule of law,” he said.

Judicial Watch has filed multiple lawsuits to try to obtain copies of government documents from Hillary Clinton’s time as secretary of state.
