Actress Ashley Judd and her husband Dario Franchitti have announced their split after 12 years of marriage.
Ashley Judd, 44, and Scottish racing driver Dario Franchitti, 39, announced they were ending their marriage in a joint statement on Tuesday.
They told People.com: “We have mutually decided to end our marriage.
“We’ll always be family and continue to cherish our relationship based on the special love, integrity, and respect we have always enjoyed.”
A spokesman for Ashley Judd stressed that their decision to split was a mutual one, not one-sided.

Ashley Judd and Dario Franchitti tied the knot in December 2001 in Scotland in a private ceremony.
The actress’s sister, Wynonna, was the maid of honor while Dario’s borther Mario was the best man.
The couple got engaged in December 1999, while he was driving in the Champ Car World Series.
Since the demise of the contest Dario Franchitti went on to race for IndyCar and NASCAR.
They divided their time between Scotland and Tennessee, where they had a farm.
Ashley Judd and Dario Franchitti did not have any children together.

The reality star sported an oversized grey knitted jumper along with black leggings tucked into matching motorcycle boots, and her stripy socks were poking out.
Liberty Ross finally filed for divorce from Rupert Sanders in Los Angeles County Superior Court Friday following highly-publicized cheating scandal with Kristen Stewart six months ago, according to TMZ.
Liberty Ross, 34, who is represented by lawyer Laura Wasser, has asked for spousal support and joint custody of their children – 7-year-old Sykla and 5-year-old Tennyson, TMZ reports.
Rupert Sanders, 41, represented by lawyer Lance Spiegel, has reportedly filed his response to the petition in which he also asks for joint custody.
The director has also requested that he and the British model split the court costs between them.
Liberty Ross and Rupert Sanders’ 9-year marriage has been under strain ever since his explosive fling with Snow White and the Huntsman starlet Kristen Stewart was exposed by Us Weekly in July 2012.

Liberty Ross was believed to have initially kicked the cheating director out of their home after his infidelity was revealed, but they began couples therapy in an attempt to save their marriage.
A source told RadarOnline in September: “It was Rupert’s suggestion that he go to therapy with Liberty. He will do anything to save his marriage because he loves his wife and knows he screwed up.
“Rupert is willing to do absolutely anything and everything he can to save his marriage, he knows this is the worst mistake of his life, and he cannot believe he was so stupid.”
The source added: “The thought of losing his wife and children, who he loves more than anything in the world is killing him.”

But she reportedly had a change of heart about their split early last year.
Three months after announcing their divorce the couple were photographed kissing by the locker rooms at a Lakers game in February.
Over the summer, Vanessa Bryant took her kids with her to London to cheer her husband as he competed in the Olympics.
And things appeared to have been back to normal by Christmas, as the family shared an intimate holiday portrait with friends and family.
In the centre of the smiling photograph was a seated Kobe Bryant firmly grasping the hand of his wife, who showed off her slender figure in a $2,200 low-cut green velvet Gucci dress.
Despite the reconciliation the couple still needed to shed some baggage and sold one of their three homes in Orange County, California.
The 6,000 square foot mansion closed its sale on Tuesday for $3.22 million, nine years after the couple purchased the home together for $2.65 million.
As the couple worked through their divorce the home had been transferred solely to Vanessa Bryant, who listed it for sale in September for $3.75 million.
Many were wondering why Ashton Kutcher waited 12 months to file for divorce from Demi Moore.
And on Saturday it was suggested that Demi Moore was the one holding up the legal proceedings as she wants a settlement similar to that from first husband Bruce Willis.
TMZ report: “The sticking point in the divorce has been that Demi wanted the same type of settlement from Ashton that she go from Bruce Willis.”
