Most people don’t realize that the eyes are among the organs most susceptible to damage. It’s one of the most exposed organs, yet people tend not to protect it. This seeming tendency to not care for the eyes can lead to several short- and long-term problems that will affect the quality of life that you enjoy. Therefore, it is vital that you take care of your eyesight regardless of the season.

Summertime is one of the best times of the year and one of the periods when people have to take extra eye care precautions. We have to be able to provide enough protection for our eyes so we can enjoy whatever activities we have planned.

Here are some of the extra eye-related precautions we can consider during the summertime.

Shield your eyes from the sun

With the summertime being one of the periods when the sun is most intense, people have to learn to protect their eyes by shielding them from it. Those with normal vision can easily do this by wearing their preferred sunglasses. Those who wear spectacles can resort to wearing clip-on that eyecare stores sell. People need to wear these sunglasses even if it’s cloudy.

Another way to protect your eyes is to wear a wide-brimmed hat to fend off those harmful ultraviolet rays. Not only will you be protecting your eyes, but you will also protect your skin and eyes from sunburn. You can also protect your eyes from macular degeneration, ocular melanoma, and cataracts.

Stay hydrated and keep your eyes as lubricated as possible

You need to stay as hydrated as possible because there’s an increased risk of dehydration, especially if you’re exposed to the sun longer. Your eyes might dry and feel irritated faster or become watery for your own good. If you suffer from dry eyes syndrome (DES), it’s probably best to consult your doctor about OptiLight treatment designed to manage the condition. It is a non-invasive treatment applied to the areas below the eyes and is the only FDA-approved intense pulsed light (IPL) procedure.

Be sure to wear protective eyewear for various activities

Since it’s summer, you’ll probably want to spend more time outdoors. It will be best to wear different protective eye gear whenever you pursue summer activities. If you go swimming, don’t forget to wear goggles so you wouldn’t get your eyes irritated by the saltwater. Wear safety sports goggles whenever you hike or do other outdoor activities to protect your eyes from debris, dust, and the sun.

Wash your hands

Regularly washing your hands is one of the best ways to protect your eyes. People often wipe their eyes with their hands, increasing the risk of contracting eye-related illnesses such as conjunctivitis or trachoma. Avoid touching your eyes when your hands aren’t clean.

Eat a balanced diet

Try to eat as much leafy green vegetables and omega-3-rich food. These are rich in antioxidants and also help in hydration.

Takeaways

There are several ways to protect your eyes during the summer. We have to be aware of these strategies to care for our eyesight properly.

The summer, sadly, is drawing to a close for most of us and that means it’s time to re-think your wardrobe for the fall and beyond. Trying to stay one step ahead of the fashion curve can always be something of a chore and that’s why we are here to give you some helpful tips.

The importance of a good accessory or two should never be overlooked. Your overall outfit may be on point but the addition of a good bit of extra detailing can be just what is needed to make you stand out from the crowd.

Conversely, sometimes a dour or basic outfit can be saved and accentuated, in a good way, by the selection of one or two great accessories that can turn your wardrobe into an inspiration and will make heads turn in your direction.

Here’s a list of ten great accessories for this coming fall.

Hobo Bags

These come hot on the heels of the massive tote bags that everyone was joyfully wearing over the summer. Again size is key, go with a large comfortable shape and don’t be afraid to push it with bright colors. This is a great trend for those who can’t leave the house without taking all their belongings with them.

Initial Necklaces

Personalized jewelry is quite literally a gift that keeps giving. Over the summer these were all the rage and we strongly suggest that you get yourself a nice initial necklace, you can find great ones here, and look to be playful with these and try to get those that work well with a number of outfits. These delightful necklaces can be classy or fun, sometimes both, and therefore are versatile enough to be worn during the work day or on a night out.

Padded Sandals

As fall, hopefully, will not see an instant drop in temperature, you should still be able to leave your feet bare and padded sandals are very much ‘in’ at the moment. The comfier and more quilted you can get, the better. Jet black is a good color to go with and these are good for day time walks when it’s still fresh and breezy outside.

Kerchiefs

These follow on nicely from the peak summer trend of the silk scarves that were all the rage this year. Again, much like with the silk scarves, these are very adaptable and can be worn in a million ways. Either as bandanas, or high on the head as kerchiefs or even as scarves when it gets a little chilly. These are part of the ‘grandma’ trend that won’t seem to leave us.

Big Sunglasses

Big is beautiful and with sunglasses this is doubly true. Look to get oversized shades and ones that are really blingy, dark in color with additional detailing to really make them pop. These are really good for those fall days where the sun is still bright, albeit with the temperature a few degrees lower than we’d like.

Arm Warmers

Of the trendy accessories we are listing here, this one is perhaps the most daring. If you are courageous enough, or confident in your fashion choice, these can be both chic and functional. Pair them with your tank tops and try to go for muted colors, as there’s no need to be too brash with the items. Most main street stores are selling these by the bucketload, so go try some out.

Scrunchies

These are a trend that has pushed right through the summer to the fall and we are very pleased about that too. Again, as in the summer, the trendy accessories of 2021 are very with a nod to comfort and informality. Whereas the summer was all about bright garish colored scrunchies, you might want to tone down the color and style choices with your fall scrunchy selection.

Boat Hats

Much like the arm warmers, these are a fairly courageous choice and one that isn’t for everyone. Tightly woven straw Boat hats are very eye-catching and you should consider getting one and wearing them on occasions where you want to be noticed out there.

Big Statement Bows

Very much a nod to the 80s, these are deliberately showy and a fun way to accessorise. The bigger the bow the better. Try for black bows and ones that are paired nicely with the rest of your look. Think about wearing these with a statement belt for that truly retro vibe. Clearly if you have big hair then this will be an even more suitable option to consider.

Super Sized Earrings

If the summer was about function over form then think of the fall being a little bit of a move in the opposite direction. Here the key is to go for super sized earrings, the style of which should be in keeping with your overall outfit, and these should be truly ‘out there’ and perfectly coupled with an evening look. Again this requires you being self-assured enough to pull off the fashion trend.

Have Fun With It!

2021 is something of an improvement on 2020, for most of us anyway, and fashion gives us the chance to outwardly project how we feel and the statement we are trying to make to the world. The accessories are the details that can really make that statement sing, so have fun with it!

In this day and age, we’re all trying to keep our spending habits in check in order to save money. Unfortunately, many of us are unsure where to spend money on a more expensive brand and where we should opt for a more budget option.

Well, worry not, as here’s our guide to where you should save and where you should spend when it comes to fashion:

SAVE – Wrist Jewelry

We all love accessories. No matter if you’re adding some sophisticated jewelry to a work suit or something bold and fun for a date. However, with so many different outfits and current trends, you can easily spend a small fortune on jewelry trying to keep up.

Instead, save yourself money by opting for costume jewelry from cheaper brands. Since this jewelry will be far cheaper than designer, you’ll have room to buy more, so your outfit will always have the best accessories.

SPEND – Sunglasses

While you may want to save money on your wrist jewelry, there is one accessory that you should never scrimp on – your sunglasses! As, when it comes to your sunglasses, you need a pair that will adequately protect your eyes from the harmful UV lights that the sun gives off. Which is why you should pay a bit more for your sunglasses and opt for a reputable brand.

Not only will respected brands like Ray-Ban give you the best in protection for your eyes, this brand will also let you customize your lenses and even add a personal touch like engraving. Even better, by buying designer, you’ll have a quality pair of sunglasses that will last you years, which means you won’t waste money replacing them frequently.

SAVE – Basic Tees

Every wardrobe needs some basic tees. Not only does a t-shirt look great with a nice pair of jeans for a casual look, your tee can be dressed up with accessories and a skirt for a night out. The problem is, as our t-shirts get so much wear, they also get washed a lot. So, whether you bought a cheap or more expensive t-shirt, there isn’t that much difference in the level of quality, which means they both become washed-out, bobbly and in need of replacement quickly.

Which means, rather than wasting your money on an expensive t-shirt, you should save money and just buy a cheaper tee. As long as it’s comfy and it’s a color you like, that’s all that really matters.

SPEND – Blazer

Unlike a t-shirt, which tends to get hidden under other clothing and accessories, your blazer is there to make or break an outfit. Which is why you should always invest in a quality brand, such as a real tweed blazer, with an impeccable fit. As, if you scrimp on your blazer, it’s both unlikely to fit you well and the poor quality will be very obvious.

SAVE – Running Shoes

While in the past it might have been a good idea to invest in running shoes from a designer brand, in the last few years gym clothing has become a massive market, meaning that more budget-friendly shops are now making running shoes that are both affordable and high-quality. While you shouldn’t buy the cheapest pair, you can see, before you waste hundreds of dollars on one pair of trainers, instead try something a little cheaper – they’ll do the same job for so much less!

SPEND – Work Shoes

It doesn’t matter if you work in an office or you’re a personal trainer in the gym, when it comes to your work shoes, it’s essential that you spend a little more. As, when you buy more expensive footwear, you’re far more likely to have a pair of shoes that will keep you comfortable all day – even if you’re on your feet a lot. Plus, pricier shoes will look more professional, particularly in an office environment.

SAVE – Pyjamas

While designer brands might try to tell you that their nightwear is softer, silkier and will help you sleep better – in reality, our pyjamas shouldn’t be something that you spend too much on. For one, hardly anyone is ever going to see them as you only wear them to bed, so there really isn’t any need to show off a brand name. Nor are these expensive brands actually any comfier, with very little difference to how they feel when worn.

SPEND – Bathrobe

The problem with cheaper bathrobes is that they aren’t typically as soft as more expensive brands. Which becomes a problem when you want a bathrobe to keep you warm and cozy during those chilly winter months. So, rather than scrimp, treat yourself to a quality bathrobe that you can snuggle up in on a rainy day.

This year’s sunglasses are not just about what suits your face shape, this year the trend is all about style and exuding your personality through the latest eyewear trends.

From the catwalk to the high street the trend is all about bold style statements for all frame shapes and styles. There are less of the oversized frames that have been around for a number of seasons now, there are colours and textures, embellishments and patterns for everyone but smaller frame styles.

This year the trend has more of a nod back to the styles of the 1980s, 1990s with more shaped and angular frames such as those available on the high street, including the cat-eye style at Top Shop or the heart rimmed glasses at Urban Outfitters, perfect for the fashionista’s.

The first thing to realise however is this season, there is less and less of the heavily mirrored lenses that celebrities have been sporting in recent years, there is more of the muted colour pallet of lavender and pale blue lenses.  Mirrored lenses still have a place but a more lighter silver tone.

Metal frames will have a huge prominence this year, but not just the classic aviator style that has been so dominant in recent years. The metal frames styles are much thicker and include a lot of premium metals such as titanium, there will be a mixing of metals with woods and acetates.

Dita sunglasses are a classic example of this season’s style. Celebrities, the paparazzi have already picked up on this brand which is distinguished by its modern shapes and mixing of materials, creating a high-end style. This brand has captured all styles and shapes as well as the materials and colours that are popular for the season ahead. The Temptation glasses are a key example of the blend of styles and shapes that are popular this season.

The reintroduction of the general style from Ray-Ban has been met with a positive reception this year, a style reminiscent of the aviator but the general Ray-Ban has a double bridge and military inspired rims and lenses. This style encompasses the metals, the lenses and the shape of the 2017 season.

If metal frames are not really your style then the angular and shaped trend continues into bold colour, chunky acetate glasses, like those spotted at Mulberry. Another popular style is any frame finished in a tortoise-shell print for 2017, as inspired by the catwalks of Miu Miu.  Or for those of you that dare, heavily embellished frames such as those seen by Dolce & Gabbana and Gucci two brands never to be outshone when it comes to a bold style statement.

2017’s style is about well-fitting and sleek sunglasses, or bold statements, with a completely flat rim to the face rather than a more classic rounded style of sunglasses. Rose gold will still be a popular rim colour choice as will other metals. These metallic frames will be balanced with a muted lens or a thicker metallic lens in a much more angular frame. Whatever the style 2017 is a good time to invest in a new pair of summer’s most essential accessory!

Frame your personality – with this year’s most stylish sunglasses!

Beyoncé posted a set of holiday pictures with her daughter Blue Ivy Carter rested atop her superstar mother’s chest in a hot tub as they vacationed on a tropical island.

Beyoncé, 31, shed her strong stage presence as she lovingly held her daughter in the bubbling waters.

Her hair was wrapped in a leopard-print turban and gigantic circular sunglasses shielded her face in the sure-to-be iconic black and white image of the pop legend and her beloved daughter.

As the series of photographs continued on Beyoncé’s Tumblr, color drenched the images.

In one, Beyoncé posed on her bike wearing a white top in front of greenery and palm trees, and not a trace of make-up could be seen on the L’Oreal model’s face.

Wearing the same white cover-up in another photo, Beyoncé stood and reveled a silver bikini and her toned bare legs.

Later, as the sun set, Beyoncé took to the grass to lie down in a colorful frock, her arms outstretched to her sides.

Her latest images continued with pictures of perfectly aligned palm trees and cosy knit socks with rolled-up leggings.

The singer is taking a bit of a breather before she picks up the U.S. leg of her The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour.

Beyoncé’s next tour date is in Los Angeles at the end of June, and she will then embark upon a whopping 22 other U.S. cities.
