A United Airlines plane with 161 passengers on board was forced to make an emergency landing after the pilot suffered what was later proved to be a fatal heart attack.
The flight from Houston, Texas to Seattle, Washington was diverted to Boise, Idaho on Thursday evening.
Passengers on board with medical training attempted life saving manoeuvres prior to landing.
Pilot Henry Skillern, 63, later died in hospital.
The flight from Houston, Texas to Seattle, Washington was diverted to Boise, Idaho
He had worked for the airline for 26 years.
The flight’s first officer radioed the Boise airport’s control tower at 19:55 on Thursday to report a medical emergency.
Two military medical residents onboard tended to Henry Skillern as the plane made its emergency approach, according to media reports.
The plane landed at the airport by 20:10 and was greeted by firefighters who removed Henry Skillern and transported him to a local hospital.
The Texas resident later succumbed to a fatal heart attack.
An airport official told the Associated Press news agency the 161 passengers on board the Boeing 737 aircraft appeared to handle the incident well.
“It seemed like they felt that everything that could be done, was being done. The passengers were concerned for him, but everyone was very calm,” Boise airport spokeswoman Patti Miller said.
Another pilot later joined the crew and flew the original plane on to its final destination in Seattle.

Author Christopher John Koch, best known for writing The Year of Living Dangerously, has died of cancer in Tasmania at the age of 81, his agent Margaret Connolly confirmed.
The Australian author’s work came to wider attention when The Year of Living Dangerously was adapted into a Hollywood film, starring Mel Gibson and Sigourney Weaver.
However, CJ Koch believed some of his later novels were better.
“If a book is made into a film, they hang it around your neck forever,” he said last year.
“I’ve written other books since, that I think might be better, but people always come back to that one and it’s because it was a film,” CJ Koch told the Weekend Australian newspaper.
“That’s how much film dominates our culture.”
Christopher John Koch was born on 16 July, 1932, in Hobart, on the southern Australian island of Tasmania.
Author Christopher John Koch is best known for writing The Year of Living Dangerously
He left Hobart for Britain as a young man, detouring via south Asia. He worked in London for several years but returned to Australia after being told he would have to do national service in the British Army.
CJ Koch published his first novel, The Boys in the Island, in 1958, a coming-of-age story about a young man growing up in Tasmania but dreaming of moving to the mainland.
Positive reviews led to a creative writing fellowship at Stanford, where he studied alongside Larry McMurtry and Ken Kesey.
After more than a decade living in Sydney as a writer and radio producer for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, CJ Koch devoted himself full time to writing in 1972.
The Year of Living Dangerously, published in 1978, follows a reporter after the fall of Indonesia’s Sukarno regime in 1965. The character was loosely based on CJ Koch’s brother Philip, who was a foreign correspondent.
It was adapted for the big screen in 1982, earning a best supporting actress Oscar for actress Linda Hunt’s portrayal of Hamilton’s male photographer friend and mentor, Billy Kwan.
Christopher John Koch was credited as a co-writer of the film’s screenplay, but he had a dispute with the director, Peter Weir, during the making of the movie – in particular over the casting of Hunt.
“My feeling was that it was worth a gamble,” Peter Weir, whose hits include Witness and The Truman Show, told the New York Times in 1983.
“But can you imagine how horrified Chris Koch must have been to hear that a woman was going to play his precious creation?”
Over the course of a 55-year career, Christopher John Koch wrote some eight novels, often exploring Australia’s relationship with its Asian neighbors.
Two later novels, 1985’s The Doubleman and 1996’s Highways to a War, won him Australia’s prestigious Miles Franklin Award.
Despite moving around for much of his life, CJ Koch eventually settled back in Tasmania, in the town of Richmond.
Last year, Christopher John Koch was diagnosed with cancer and given only weeks to live but went on to see his final novel, Lost Voices, published to critical acclaim in September 2012.
Christopher John Koch is survived by his second wife, Robin, and his son, the classical guitarist Gareth Koch, from his first marriage.
Nikolaos Mihaloliakos, leader of Greece’s far-right Golden Dawn party, has been arrested on charges of forming a criminal organization.
Another Golden Dawn MP has been held and more warrants issued, Greek police say.
The arrests and warrants come amid anger over the murder on September 18 of anti-racist musician, Pavlos Fyssas.
A man arrested for the stabbing told police he was a supporter of Golden Dawn, though the party strongly denies any link.
“The Secretary General and one lawmaker of the Golden Dawn Party were arrested a short while ago after arrest warrants were issued,” Greek police said in a text message.
Golden Dawn leader Nikolaos Mihaloliakos has been arrested on charges of forming a criminal organization
The other MP arrested was said to be Ilias Kasidiaris.
The killing of Pavlos Fyssas – whose stage name was Killah P – has sparked protests in Athens and across Greece.
George Roupakias, who said he was a supporter of Golden Dawn, was arrested.
The government launched a crackdown, including raids on Golden Dawn premises and the suspension of police believed to be sympathizers.
Police arrested one of their own colleagues who was reportedly working as a bodyguard for the party, during a raid on its offices in the western town of Agrinio on Tuesday.
The government also began an inquiry into the activities of Golden Dawn, which won nearly 7% of the vote in 2012 elections.
In recent months, Golden Dawn has been accused of perpetrating attacks on migrants and political opponents – including an attack on Communist Party members earlier this month which is said to have left nine people in hospital.
President Barack Obama has spoken by phone to Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani – the first such top-level conversation in more than 30 years.
Barack Obama spoke of a “unique opportunity” to make progress with Iran’s new leadership, amid a flurry of diplomacy over its nuclear programme.
Earlier, Hassan Rouhani said Iran was keen to reach a deal soon.
Hassan Rouhani also asserted that Iran did not seek a nuclear bomb, as Western powers have long suspected.
Describing meetings at the UN this week as a “first step”, he said he believed the nuclear issue could be settled “within the not too distant future”.
Hassan Rouhani said initial discussions had taken place in an environment that was “quite different” from the past.
On his arrival back in Tehran from the UN General Assembly forum in New York, Hassan Rouhani was met by a number of key political figures, as well as both supporters and opponents from the public.
President Barack Obama in historic phone call with Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani
A New York Times reporter described the scene as chaotic, with dozens of hardliners hurling eggs and shoes at the president’s convoy.
The call with Barack Obama was made just before Hassan Rouhani left New York, where he has been attending the annual summit of the UN General Assembly, Iranian news agency Irna said.
White House officials described the 15 minute conversation – apparently initiated by Hassan Rouhani – as cordial.
Barack Obama raised concerns about American prisoners in Iran, but the bulk of the call was about efforts to reach a solution on the nuclear issue, she says.
Afterwards, Barack Obama said: “While there will surely be important obstacles to moving forward and success is by no means guaranteed, I believe we can reach a comprehensive solution.”
Hassan Rouhani, who is regarded as a moderate and was elected in June, has said he wants to reach a deal over the nuclear issue in three to six months.
The president says he is fully empowered by Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to negotiate.
On Friday, Hassan Rouhani told a press conference at the UN: “Whatever result we achieve through negotiations my government will have the full backing of all the main branches of power in Iran as well as the support of the people of Iran.”
Hassan Rouhani said he wanted a deal “within a very short period of time”.
According to an analysis done onboard NASA’s Curiosity rover, there is a surprising amount of water bound up in the soil of Mars.
When it heated a small pinch of dirt scooped up from the ground, the most abundant vapor detected was H2O.
Curiosity researcher Laurie Leshin and colleagues tell Science Magazine that Mars’ dusty red covering holds about 2% by weight of water.
This could be a useful resource for future astronauts, they say.
Curiosity soil samples showed that Mars’ dusty red covering holds about 2 percent by weight of water
“If you think about a cubic foot of this dirt and you just heat it a little bit – a few hundred degrees – you’ll actually get off about two pints of water – like two water bottles you’d take to the gym,” Dr. Laurie Leshin explained.
“And this dirt on Mars is interesting because it seems to be about the same everywhere you go. If you are a human explorer, this is really good news because you can quite easily extract water from almost anywhere.”
The revelation about the amount of water chemically bound into the fine-grained particles of the soil is just one nugget of information to come from a series of five papers in the respected journal describing the early exploits of the rover.
Some of this data has been reported previously at science meetings and in NASA press conferences, but the formal write-up gives an opportunity for the wider research community to examine the detail.

While it seems that Lamar Odom is trying to get his legal affairs in order, his marriage is still up in the air.
The UN has unanimously voted to adopt a binding resolution on ridding Syria of chemical weapons.
At a session in New York, the 15-member Security Council backed the draft document agreed earlier by Russia and the US.
The deal breaks a two-and-a-half year deadlock in the UN over Syria, where fighting between government forces and rebels rages on.
The vote came after the international chemical watchdog agreed on a plan to destroy Syria’s stockpile by mid-2014.
Speaking after the vote in New York, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon described the decision as “historic”.
“Tonight the international community has delivered.”
Ban Ki-moon urged the Syrian government to implement the resolution “faithfully and without delay”, and also announced a tentative date of mid-November for a new peace conference in Geneva.
US Secretary of State John Kerry said the UN demonstrated that “diplomacy can be so powerful that it can peacefully defuse the worst weapons of war”.
John Kerry said the resolution would for the first time seek to eliminate entirely a nation’s chemical weapons capability.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov also hailed the move, saying Moscow “war ready to take part in all operations” in Syria.
The UN has unanimously voted to adopt a binding resolution on ridding Syria of chemical weapons
However, he stressed that the success of international efforts was “not only on Damascus’ shoulders” and that Syrian opposition must co-operate.
The UN resolution condemns the use of chemical weapons but does not attribute blame.
The text has two legally binding demands: that Syria abandons its weapons stockpile and that the chemical weapons experts be given unfettered access.
Although the draft refers to Chapter VII of the UN Charter, which allows the use of military force, a second resolution authorizing such a move would be needed.
President Barack Obama earlier said agreement on the issue by council members would be a “potentially huge victory for the international community”.
Previous attempts at a resolution stumbled amid disagreements between Russia and the US on how to deal with the crisis in Syria.
The US – backed by France and the UK – had pushed for a resolution carrying the threat of military action against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s armed forces. Russia had opposed this.
Reacting to the vote, Syria’s UN Ambassador Bashar Jaafari said the resolution covered most of Damascus’ concerns.
But he stressed that countries supporting Syrian rebels should also abide by the adopted document.
The UN vote came just hours after the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) adopted what it called “a historic decision on the destruction of Syria’s chemical weapons”.
In a statement after a late-night meeting in The Hague, the watchdog said its executive council “agreed on an accelerated programme for achieving the complete elimination of Syria’s chemical weapons by mid-2014. The decision requires inspections in Syria to commence from 1 October 2013”.
“The decision also calls for ambitious milestones for destruction which will be set by the (executive) council by 15 November.”
OPCW Director General Ahmet Uzumcu said the move “sends an unmistakable message that the international community is coming together to work for peace in Syria”.
Italy’s PM Enrico Letta has threaten to resign unless his cabinet gets clear backing in a parliamentary vote expected to be called next week.
Enrico Letta’s warning came after the government failed to approve key budget measures.
His government is an unstable coalition between his party and that of ex-PM Silvio Berlusconi.
Silvio Berlusconi could lose his Senate seat after his fraud conviction. His backers say they would leave the cabinet in protest.
“I have no intention of limping along or being the subject of continuous threats,” Enrico Letta said in a statement after the government meeting late on Friday.
“Either we go forward, and the interests of the country and citizens are put first, or this experience ends here.”
PM Enrico Letta has threaten to resign unless his cabinet gets clear backing in a parliamentary vote expected to be called next week
Two government ministers said that Enrico Letta was now planning to call a confidence vote in parliament next week.
The cabinet is close to collapse just at a time when Italy desperately needs political stability if it is to begin to emerge from its long economic crisis.
If Silvio Berlusconi’s PDL pulled out of the government, it would lead to snap elections.
President Giorgio Napolitano and business leaders have warned against new polls while is still mired in recession, saying they could reignite fears about the country’s stability and financial position.
According to a 2012 anti-corruption law, Silvio Berlusconi should be ejected from the upper house after the Supreme Court last month upheld his fraud conviction.
After a party meeting on Wednesday, Silvio Berlusconi’s MPs threatened to resign en masse if the Senate votes next week o expel their mentor.
The Italian news agency Ansa cited sources who said PDL members were already writing out their resignations and threatening to hand them in to the party whips.
Silvio Berlusconi has been sentenced to a year in prison, but because of his age is expected to serve house arrest or community service.
It was his first conviction to be confirmed on appeal in two decades of fighting legal cases.
Last week Silvio Berlusconi vowed to stay in politics even if he lost his place in the Senate.
The US government careens toward a potentially devastating shutdown as Republicans and Democrats in Congress remain deadlocked on a budget to continue its funding.
Agencies have begun making contingency plans ahead of the October 1st deadline to pass a new funding resolution.
The Senate has passed a bill to fund the government through November 15.
But House Republicans have said they refuse to approve the bill absent a provision to strip funding from President Barack Obama’s health law.
The Senate is controlled by Barack Obama’s Democratic party, while the Republicans hold the majority in the House of Representatives.
As a result, lawmakers are at a stalemate as the deadline approaches.
Government agencies have been selecting workers considered essential should funds stop flowing.
The looming shutdown is one of two fiscal crises facing the US government. On October 17, the US treasury department’s authority to borrow money to fund its debt obligations expires unless Congress approves a rise in the so-called debt ceiling.
On Friday afternoon, President Barack Obama urged House Republicans to pass the Senate’s stopgap budget bill and to extend the debt limit, and demanded they not threaten to “burn the house down because you haven’t gotten 100% of your way”.
President Barack Obama urged House Republicans to pass the Senate’s stopgap budget bill and to extend the debt limit
Barack Obama said if the nation were to default on its debt, it would have a “profound destabilizing effect” on the world economy.
“Voting for the treasury to pay its bills is not a concession to me,” he said.
“No-one gets to hurt our economy… just because there are a couple of laws [they] don’t like.”
The president described the healthcare law as “a done deal” and said the Republican-backed repeal effort was “not going to happen”.
Barack Obama said the Senate had “acted responsibly” in passing the budget measure and that now it was up to Republicans in the House of Representatives “to do the same”.
If the government does shut down on October 1st, as many as a third of its 2.1 million employees are expected to stop work – with no guarantee of back pay once the deadlock is resolved.
National parks and the Smithsonian museums in the nation’s capital would close, pension and veterans’ benefit cheques would be delayed, and visa and passport applications would be stymied.
Programmes deemed essential, such as air traffic control and food inspections, would continue.
The defense department has advised employees that uniformed members of the military will continue on “normal duty status”, but “large numbers” of civilian workers will be told to stay home.
Last week, the US House of Representatives a bill that would maintain the US government’s funding levels through November 15 but strip funding from Barack Obama’s health law, known as Obamacare.
On Friday the Senate passed a version of the bill with the defunding provision removed 54-44, largely on party lines.
“The Senate has acted and we’ve done it with bipartisan co-operation. We’ve passed the only bill that can avert a government shutdown Monday night,” Democratic Senate leader Harry Reid said.
“This is it, time is gone.”
The House is now expected to take up that bill at the weekend. Unless the two chambers can come to a consensus and pass a bill for Barack Obama to sign, the federal government will close on October 1st.
One of Willie Robertson’s favorite recipes is Duck Wraps.
Excerpts from the book The Duck Commander Family by Willie and Korie Robertson.
The Duck Commander CEO and Duck Dynasty star said: “I like to say Duck Commander is a lot like duck wraps. Huh? No, really it is. It’s a bunch of things that may not seem like they belong together, but when they all come together they make something spectacular. Everyone at Duck Commander brings something special to the table, and rather than fighting against one another, we complement each other. Do we have our disagreements? Of course! But we don’t take away from the unique flavors each one brings. We are all held together by a common love for family and for ducks, but more importantly we are fortunate to share a common faith. Our faith is the toothpick that holds the entire wrap together. If it wasn’t for our faith in God, I can assure you, we would fall apart.
“Simply the best way for my taste buds to eat a duck. I wrap many things but duck has such a good flavor. Play with it and add different types of “sweets” for topping. Honey is great but there are others. If you bite into the first one and don’t think it’s done, don’t panic, put them all in a pot and let them steam on low fire.”
One of Willie Robertson’s favorite recipes is Duck Wraps
Ingredients:
8 to 12 duck breasts
1 pound thin-sliced bacon
8 to 12 jalapeno slices
1 package cream cheese
1 package Duck Commander Rub
1 jar of honey
Directions:
Soak duck breasts in salt water overnight in the refrigerator.
Cut an incision down the length of each breast and stuff with cream cheese and one jalapeno slice.
Coat each stuffed duck breast with Duck Commander Rub and wrap each with one slice of bacon, securing the wrap with a toothpick.
Cook wraps on an open grill until bacon is crisp and cream cheese starts to ooze out (it’s okay for the wrap to be medium-rare; don’t overcook or it will dry out).
Drizzle wraps with honey and cook for an additional two minutes.
Prince William and Kate Middleton have announced details of their son’s christening.
Prince George will be christened on Wednesday, October 23, at the Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace – just over three months after his birth.
The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby, will perform the christening.
Prince George, who was born on July 22 at St Mary’s Hospital in London, is third in line to the UK’s throne.
The Kensington Palace said in a statement: “Their royal highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are pleased to announce the christening of Prince George will take place on Wednesday, 23rd October at the Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace.
“Prince George will be christened by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby.”

As the Chapel Royal is small and would only accommodate close family and a few others.
In 1997 the coffin of Prince William’s mother Diana, Princess of Wales, lay before the chapel’s altar before her funeral in Westminster Abbey.
Princess Beatrice was the last royal baby to be christened in the Chapel Royal in December 1988.
Prince William was christened at Buckingham Palace in August 1982 by Dr. Robert Runcie, then the Archbishop of Canterbury.
The current Archbishop later spoke of his joy at being asked to conduct the christening.
The Most Reverend Justin Welby said: “I am delighted to be invited to conduct the baptism of His Royal Highness Prince George.
“It is a great privilege and honor and will without doubt be an occasion of immense joy and celebration.
“I am looking forward to welcoming him into the family of the church.”
Prince George will be christened in a replica of the intricate lace and satin christening gown made for Queen Victoria’s eldest daughter, Victoria, the Princess Royal, in 1841.
The Earl and Countess of Wessex’s son Viscount Severn became the first royal baby to wear the new robe at his christening in 2008.
Earlier, Kensington Palace announced that a new coat of arms had been chosen to represent Prince William and Kate Middleton as a married couple.
Kate Upton and Maksim Chmerkovskyi are dating, E! News reported.
The romance news comes as photos of Kate Upton, 21, and Maksim Chmerkovskyi, 33, holding hands recently surfaced.
In the PDA pics of them going public, Kate Upton and Maksim Chmerkovskiy are all smiles while strolling down the street in NYC’s West Village neighborhood. Kate Upton looked cute in workout gear while Maksim Chmerkovskiy sported skinny jeans and a pink button-down shirt. Both sported black sunglasses during the daytime outing.
Kate Upton and Maksim Chmerkovskyi are dating
Earlier this summer, rumors began swirling that Kate Upton and Maksim Chmerkovskiy were heating up. At the time, source told E! News that the two were “just good friends,” while a second source close to Maksim Chmerkovskiy revealed that they “heard nothing about them dating.”
Back in July, Kate Upton and Maksim Chmerkovskyi were spotted in NYC going on a dinner date together after an event.
“The two did not want to be photographed together and did the best they could to avoid the cameras,” a source told E! News.
“They left the event around midnight and went to Catch sushi bar, that turns into a club. The two
Maksim Chmerkovskiy has previously been romantically linked to Karina Smirnoff, Erin Andrews and DWTSer Peta Murgatroyd. Upton’s been rumored to have romanced Blake Griffin, Mark Sanchez and baseballer Justin Verlander.
Anti-paparazzi bill which limits their ability to photograph stars’ children has become law in the state of California.
Bill 606, championed by actress Halle Berry, who testified before the state assembly, sets out to protect the children of those in the public eye.
It lays out penalties for taking photos and video of a child without parental consent and in a harassing manner.
It would be “the beginning of the end,” Halle Berry said, for “aggressive paparazzi”.
Earlier this week, it was signed into California law by state governor Jerry Brown.
“I started this fight with a great deal of hope and a bit of uncertainty so I cannot express my immense gratitude that Gov. Brown has recognized, and acted to remedy, the plight of children who are tormented because of the identity or prominence of their parents,” said Halle Berry.
Bill 606, championed by actress Halle Berry, who testified before the state assembly, sets out to protect the children of those in the public eye
Halle Berry was seen shouting at photographers taking pictures of her family after arriving at Los Angeles International airport in April, with her partner Olivier Martinez and her daughter.
She also thanked actress Jennifer Garner and British singer Adele for joining her in her fight.
“I am forever in awe of the support I got within my community from the enormously talented musician Adele to fellow actor Jennifer Garner, who travelled with me to Sacramento to share her children’s stories, experience and her desire to give them a better life.”
The law comes into effect in January. Those breaking it could receive between 10 days and one year in jail, as well as a fine of up to $10,000.
The bill also allows for parents to bring a civil action against violators to seek damages and legal fees.
“Kids shouldn’t be tabloid fodder,” said Senator Kevin de Leon, who put forward the bill, adding that the new law “will give children, no matter who their parents are, protection from harassers who go to extremes to turn a buck”.
The Motion Picture Association of America was among several groups that opposed the legislation, saying it infringes upon free speech protections.
Kevin de Leon’s office claimed the bill does not infringe on First Amendment rights because it targets the photographer’s conduct, not the act of taking a photograph.
Other organizations in opposition include the National Press Photographers Association and the California Broadcasters Association.
“It is for all of us that I rejoice today and hope that this fight will continue and that the proper enforcement of this law will truly make a positive impact on the daily lives of all children,” said Halle Berry.
The upcoming HBO miniseries Criminal Justice will see Robert De Niro taking over James Gandolfini’s role in the drama.
James Gandolfini died of a heart attack on June 19 during a vacation to Rome. He was found by his 13-year-old son, Michael, who found him unconscious around 10 p.m. on the bathroom floor of the Boscolo Exedra Hotel.
At the time of his death, James Gandolfini had already filmed the pilot for the crime drama, which is based on the BBC series of the same name.
Robert De Niro is taking over James Gandolfini’s role in Criminal Justice
The first five-episode season premiered on June 2008 on BBC One, and the second season premiered on October 5, 2009. The series received positive reviews and won several awards.
Robert De Niro replaces the Sopranos star an ambulance-chasing lawyer named Jack Stone. James Gandolfini will keep a posthumous executive producer credit on the miniseries. The first season of Criminal Justice will be based on the first season of the BBC version, which focused on a man who goes home with a female stranger, wakes up to find her stabbed to death, and is accused of the murder. In the HBO version, now set in New York City, the suspect is Pakistani and is accused of murdering a girl on the Upper West Side. Jack Stone finds himself in over his head when he takes the case.
According to Deadline, it was unclear if HBO would proceed with Criminal Justice after James Gandolfini’s death. But because of his commitment to the project, the network decided to go forward with the series in his honor. The website also said that director Steven Zaillian and HBO set about recasting the role and had only person on their list to replace James Gandolfini: 70-year-old Robert De Niro.
UN inspectors are investigating at least three alleged chemical weapons attacks in Syria that happened after August 21.
Little is known about the latest three alleged attacks, which the Syrian government asked the UN to investigate.
The August 21 attack left hundreds dead; the resulting outcry led Syria to offer up its chemical weapons arsenal.
Inspectors are due in Syria next week – the UN will vote on the visit later.
UN inspectors are investigating at least three alleged chemical weapons attacks in Syria that happened after August 21
In Syria itself the violence goes on. Activists said a car bomb killed at least 20 people near a mosque in Rankus, a town north of Damascus, just after Friday prayers.
In a statement, the UN said its current inspection team in Syria is investigating seven allegations of chemical weapons use this year.
The team, led by Ake Sellstrom, arrived in Syria for its second visit on September 25 and hopes to finish its work by Monday 30 September, the statement said.
It is working on a “comprehensive report” into the allegations that it hopes to have finished by late October.
The UN listed the alleged attacks, which all took place this year, as Khan al-Assal on March 19; Sheikh Maqsoud on April 13; Saraqeb on April 29; Ghouta on August 21; Bahhariya on August 22; Jobar on August 24 and Ashrafieh Sahnaya on August 25.
Syria has pushed for the investigation of the three post-21 August incidents.
Prince William and Kate Middleton have a new coat of arms to represent them as a married couple, according to Kensington Palace.
The conjugal coat of arms was approved by the Queen earlier this year.
It combines the Duke of Cambridge’s coat of arms and the duchess’ shield, from the Middleton family coat of arms.
Designed by the College of Arms in London, conjugal arms traditionally combine the separate shields of a royal husband and wife.
Prince William’s shield, on the left of the coat of arms, is his version of the Royal Coat of Arms, granted to him by the Queen on his 18th birthday.
It shows the various royal emblems of different parts of the UK – the three lions of England, the lion of Scotland and the harp of Ireland.
Kate Middleton and Prince William get new conjugal coat of arms
The duke’s shield is surrounded by a blue garter bearing the motto Honi soit qui mal y pense – Shame to those who think evil of it – which symbolizes the Order of the Garter, of which he is a Knight Companion.
Kate Middleton’s shield comes from her family’s coat of arms, which was granted to the family in 2011, ahead of her marriage.
It is divided vertically, with one half blue and the other half red, and includes a gold chevron across the centre with white “cotises” either side.
The shield also includes three acorns – representing Kate Middleton and her siblings Pippa and James – with gold stalks and leaves.
The conjugal arms was made by putting Kate Middleton’s shield next to Prince William’s, in what is known as an impaled coat of arms.
In the couple’s arms, Kate Middleton’s shield is surrounded by a wreath of oak, to balance out her husband’s garter – a tradition for royal spouses who are not themselves entitled to surround their arms with an order of chivalry.
Both shields are supported by the royal lion and unicorn, each wearing a three pointed collar, known as a label.
The label has a red escallop shell derived from the Spencer coat of arms, which has been used by Prince William’s ancestors on his mother’s side for many centuries.
Prince William and Kate Middleton will keep the coat of arms forever, but parts could change as their own circumstances and roles change.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will also keep their own coats of arms to represent themselves as individuals, Kensington Palace said.
A Titian painting has been identified in a private collection in Europe.
The 16th Century oil painting, The Risen Christ, is believed to have been executed around 1511.
Writing in the Burlington magazine, art historian Artur Rosenauer from the University of Vienna, said it was “astonishingly well preserved”.
“It is extremely rare for a hitherto unknown Titian to come to light,” said Artur Rosenauer.
The professor said he believes it was created for a brotherhood and intended for holy processions.
The work art belonged to the Von Bulow family in the 19th Century, and by Bernhard Heinrich von Bulow, chancellor of Germany, until his death in 1929.
Titian’s The Risen Christ is believed to have been executed around 1511
The painting is subsequently believed to have travelled to South America and was then bought by its present owners, from Montevideo in Uruguay.
“Standing on the lid of his sealed tomb, the monumental figure of Christ is presented to the viewer in an attitude of <<heroica maesta>>. His left hand holds the flag of the resurrection, while his right arm is raised in triumphant blessing,” writes Artur Rosenauer.
Tiziano Vecellio, better known as Titian, was the greatest painter of the Venetian school and one of Italy’s most important High Renaissance artists.
Titian singlehandedly revolutionized nearly all aspects of painting and inspired future greats such as Rubens, van Dyck, Velazquez and Rembrandt.
Last year, Titian’s Diana and Callisto was saved for the nation, after a $71.7 million deal was agreed with its owner, the Duke of Sutherland.
The “supremely important” oil painting was bought with the help of $39.9 million from the National Gallery after a lengthy fundraising campaign.
Along with its partners National Galleries of Scotland, the gallery also saved sister piece Diana and Actaeon in 2009.

OJ Simpson has been caught stealing cookies from the cafeteria of the Nevada prison where he’s been sentenced to spend more than three decades for armed robbery.
A prison report said guards noticed OJ Simpson leaving the cafeteria with something hidden underneath his clothes, and when they checked it out found more than a dozen oatmeal cookies.
“Everyone thought he had smuggled in a cell phone or some other kind of contraband, so when the guard started pulling cookies out of O.J.’s shirt, the other inmates started laughing so hard they nearly fell over,” a source told the National Enquirer.
OJ Simpson has been caught stealing cookies from the cafeteria of the Nevada prison where he’s been sentenced to spend more than three decades for armed robbery
“OJ just stood there with a goofy grin on his face as the guard kept digging inside his shirt and throwing the cookies on the floor.”
OJ Simpson is a severe diabetic, and doctors say he could be dead in months if he doesn’t tighten down his eating habits. The former NFL player turned actor has reportedly ballooned to more than 300 pounds and suffers high blood pressure.
A source close to OJ Simpson says getting his health in order may not be as easy as it seems. He has been trying to diet, but food is one of his only enjoyments in prison.
OJ Simpson may have a chance to turn his life around if he can keep his health in check long enough. This summer he won an appeal to gain parole on some of his charges, though he is likely to remain in prison for at least four more years.
OJ Simpson was able to avoid punishment for his cookie-stealing incident as the guard who caught him took the stolen cookies away and let him go with a warning.
According to Amanda Bynes’ lawyer, the former actress is still going for treatment in a California hospital and will need 18 months to complete that treatment.
Amanda Bynes was diagnosed with schizophrenia, and her parents were attempting to gain a conservatorship, so they could look after her well being.
According to TMZ, Amanda Bynes is far worse off than it initially appeared. She could be detained in a mental health facility for a year and a half receiving said psychiatric treatment.
Her latest court appearance was delayed due to her mental instability.
Amanda Bynes is still going for treatment in a California hospital and will need 18 months to complete that treatment
TMZ has reported that the case will be a plea bargain, according to sources close to the case, and that there’s a major weakness in the prosecutor’s end. The case is in connection with the incident that started Amanda Bynes’ spiral, when the actress threw a b**g out of her apartment window in New York City.
However, Amanda Bynes’ mother is actually dropping her bid to gain a permanent conservatorship. According to sources, it’s not because Amanda Bynes is doing well, or that her mother is turning her back on her daughter, but her mom is already protecting her to the best of her ability without the conservatorship.
It’s believed that Amanda Bynes is also on something called an LPS hold, which means that her doctors have control over the former child star, more so than what her mother would have if she had a conservatorship.
So far her mother has exercised her right and has admitted AmandaBynes to a long-term stay at UCLA Medical Center to get prolonged treatment.
Eric and Ryan Jensen, owners of the Colorado cantaloupe farm linked to a 2011 food poisoning outbreak which killed 33 people and sickened 147, have been arrested and charged with selling contaminated food.
Eric and Ryan Jensen face up to six years in prison and up to $1.5 million in fines.
The brothers did not adequately wash the melons before selling them, US officials say.
The Jensens called the outbreak a “terrible accident”.
The outbreak of listeriosis stretched from California to Virginia.
The brothers, owners of Jensen Farms, surrendered to US marshals and appeared briefly in federal court on Thursday afternoon.
Eric and Ryan Jensen, owners of the Colorado cantaloupe farm linked to a 2011 food poisoning outbreak which killed 33 people and sickened 147, have been arrested and charged with selling contaminated food
They pleaded not guilty to misdemeanour charges and were released pending trial in December.
The Jensens called the outbreak a “terrible accident” after their court appearance, the Associated Press news agency reported.
A spokesman for the federal prosecutors told the Associated Press they leveled the “most serious” charges they could, as stricter felony counts would required proof the contamination was intentional.
An FDA inquiry found the Jensens installed a new cantaloupe cleaning system – designed to clean potatoes – in 2011.
The system included a chlorine spray meant to remove bacteria, which was never used.
“The defendants were aware that their cantaloupes could be contaminated with harmful bacteria if not sufficiently washed,” the office of the US Attorney for Colorado said in a statement.
“Food processors… bear a special responsibility to ensure that the food they produce and sell is not dangerous to the public,” Attorney John Walsh said in the statement.
The Jensens’ actions resulted in at least six shipments of contaminated cantaloupe being sent to 28 states, officials said.
If convicted, Eric Jensen, 37, and Ryan Jensen, 33, face up to one year in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 for each of the six counts against them.
Jimmy Kimmel addressed Kanye West’s profanity-studded Twitter rant in which he went off on the late-night host in response to a bit from Jimmy Kimmel Live that poked fun at Kanye’s much-talked-about interview with BBC Radio One.
“Quick question,” Jimmy Kimmel kicked off his monologue on Thursday.
“Did anyone else get a very angry phone call from Kanye West about an hour and a half ago? Just me? OK, I didn’t know if he was mad at all of us.”
Picking up the subject again about 15 minutes later, Jimmy Kimmel described the pre-rant call he got from Kanye West.
“He told me I had two choices: apologize publicly…and that was really the only choice!” Jimmy Kimmel said.
“The other choice he gave was that my life – <<Your life>>, he said, <<is going to be much better if you apologize>>. Then he started tweeting today and I don’t even know if I’ve seen some of these tweets, because they’re happening as we speak…”
Then Jimmy Kimmel started going through Kanye’s tweets (which were all in caps), starting with the one that got the ball rolling: “Jimmy Kimmel is out of line to try and spoof in any way the first piece of honest media in years.”
The funnyman continued to parse the tweets, including the one that inquired whether Jimmy Kimmel would like it if Kanye West did a spoof about “your face or you f***ing Ben Affleck.”
“Which, by the way, was a spoof,” Jimmy Kimmel reminded everyone.

“I don’t know if he thought that was news.”
Noting the use of the hash tags “#nodisrespecttobenaffleck” and “#alldisrespecttojimmy kimmel,” Jimmy Kimmel cracked: “A lot of hash in those tags.”
“And he told me this on the phone, I swear,” he continued>
“He said, <<I am the most powerful voice in media. I am ‘Pac!>> He said <<I am ‘Pac>> a few times to me. He said, <<You’ll never be able to show your face at a 14-year-old’s high school football game and be cool again>>.
“He really is ‘Pac,” Jimmy Kimmel said, smiling but looking a bit baffled.
“That’s right out of the Tupac playbook, isn’t it?”
“I don’t understand it, I don’t know why he’s angry again,” Jimmy Kimmel continued.
“I thought the bit was pretty innocuous. Finally I’m in a rap feud.”
“Do you have my back?” he asked side-kick Guillermo, who promised, while munching on a snack, to watch his boss’ back.
“Right now we’re at Def-Kanye Five,” Jimmy Kimmel concluded.
“Thanks, Kanye, appreciate it.”
Jimmy Kimmel promised to keep us posted and all remains quiet on the Twitter front for now.
Kanye West got angry after Jimmy Kimmel Live‘s recent parody of the lengthy, in-depth interview the rapper gave to BBC’s Radio One, in which he referred to himself as the “No. 1 rock star on the planet” and delved into various personal topics.
Kanye West, 36, took to Twitter to slam Jimmy Kimmel’s action: “JMMY KIMMEL IS OUT OF LINE TO TRY AND SPOOF IN ANY WAY THE FIRST PIECE OF HONEST MEDIA IN YEARS.”
“JIMMY KIMMEL, I DON’T TAKE IT AS A JOKE… YOU DON’T HAVE SCUM BAGS HOPPING OVER FENCES TRYING TO TAKE PICTURES OF YOUR DAUGHTER,” the rapper continued.
“YOU CAN’T PUT YOURSELF IN MY SHOES. YOUR FACE LOOKS CRAZY…IS THAT FUNNY?…OR IF I HAD A KID SAY IT WOULD BE FUNNY???”
The spoof that angered Kanye West featured a little boy reciting actual snippets of the artist’s interview while fiercely sipping a milk shake in between sound bites.
“I brought the leather jogging pants six years ago to Fendi, and they said <<no>>!” little Kanye exclaimed in the “Kanye Kid Re(Kreation)”
“How many [bleep] you seen with leather jogging pants? Where the culture at? Where is the culture at?!”

Kanye West went on: “SHOULD I DO A SPOOF ABOUT YOUR FACE OR YOU F***ING BEN AFFLECK…#NODISRESPECTTOBENAFFLECK #ALLDISRESPECTTOJIMMYKIMMEL!!!!”
Instead, Jimmy Kimmel appeared to fully enjoy reaping what he had sowed.
“apparently @KanyeWest is VERY VERY ANGRY with me….” Jimmy Kimmel tweeted when he first got wind of Kanye West’s rant.
“if it’s not too much trouble @kanyewest, would you mind using @jimmykimmel? Thanks”
Kanye West continued: “I LIKE YOU, YOU KNOW ME, I WENT TO YOUR FAMILY’S WEDDING.”
Jimmy Kimmel replied: “I like you too! Glad we cleared this up.”
But Kanye West didn’t stop: “WHO YOU MADE IT CLEAR TO ME WASN’T YOUR FAMILY WHEN I WAS ON THEN PHONE WITH YOU 5 MINUTES AGO, YOU MANIPULATIVE MEDIA MUTHERF***ER.”
Jimmy Kimmel then swatted back with: “I know! #WreckItRalph, right?!” when Kanye West jabbed at him with: “SARAH SILVERMAN IS A THOUSAND TIMES FUNNIER THAN YOU AND THE WHOLE WORLD KNOWS IT!!!”
Then Kanye West started tweeting pictures, one of which Jimmy Kimmel duly retweeted.
“I swear, @kanyewest one more of these I WILL unfollow you #warning #Goshdarnit,” Jimmy Kimmel wrote.
