Golf legend Arnold Palmer has died in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, at the age of 87.
He was viewed as one of the greatest players in golf’s history.
According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Arnold Palmer died at the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, where he was undergoing heart tests.
The United States Golf Association also confirmed Arnold Palmer’s death in a tweet calling him “golf’s greatest ambassador”.
During a long career Arnold Palmer won more than 90 tournaments worldwide, including seven majors.

Arnold Palmer was born in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, in 1929, the son of a groundskeeper at the local country club who later became the professional at the golf club there.
He was one of golf’s most dominant players in the late 1950s and early 1960s, winning seven major titles over seven seasons.
A new referendum in Switzerland has approved a law on new surveillance powers for the intelligence agencies.
The law would allow the authorities to tap phones, snoop on email and deploy hidden cameras and bugs.
According to supporters, the new law would help Switzerland catch up with other countries.
Opponents have feared it could erode civil liberties and put Swiss neutrality at risk by requiring closer co-operation with foreign intelligence agencies.
Some 65.5% of voters agreed to accept the proposal. The new law will allow the Federal Intelligence Service and other agencies to put suspects under electronic surveillance if authorized by a court, the defense ministry and the cabinet.
The Swiss government says the powers would be used about once a month to monitor the highest-risk suspects.
The new law was not comparable to the spying capabilities of the US or other major powers, which “go well beyond what is desired in terms of individual liberty and security for our citizens”, Defense Minister Guy Parmelin said earlier this year.
According to a government website, Swiss law currently prevents authorities from relying on anything more than publicly available information or tips from foreign officials when monitoring domestic threats.
The new surveillance law was passed last year but has not yet been enacted after opponents collected enough signatures to force a referendum under Switzerland’s system of direct democracy.

Miami Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez has died in a boat crash at the age of 24.
According, the US Coast Guard Jose Fernandez was one of three people killed in the crash on September 25, off Miami Beach, Florida.
The baseball team said it was “devastated”. Marlins’s home game against the Atlanta Braves on September 25 was canceled.
Jose Fernandez was born in Santa Clara, in Cuba, and defected to Florida when he was 16, after three failed attempts. He made his debut for the Marlins in 2013.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Chief Todd Garofalo told local news station WSVN: “They found a boat that was up against the jetties. They did do an initial search and they found three victims – two on top of the water, one underneath the boat and they had unfortunately passed away.”
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said the 32-foot vessel had a “severe impact” with large rocks that form part of the jetty.
According to officials, Jose Fernandez was not wearing a life vest at the time of the crash.
The names of the other two individuals are being withheld until their relatives can be informed, the Coast Guard said.
Jose Fernandez shared a picture on Instagram five days ago which appears to show his girlfriend Carla Mendoza pregnant.
The caption reads: “I’m so glad you came into my life. I’m ready for where this journey is gonna take us together. #familyfirst.”
The Major League Baseball organization released a statement saying it was “stunned and devastated” by the news.
Jose Fernandez was the club’s first-round draft pick in 2011 and was finishing up on his finest season in the major league, the Miami Herald reported.
A fifth person has died following a mass shooting at the Cascade Mall in Burlington, Washington, police say.
The suspected gunman is still at large.
Police have released a picture of the gunman, who fled armed with a rifle.
The Cascade Mall and nearby shops, located in Burlington, near Seattle, were evacuated and police have asked the public to stay away. The reason of the attack is not clear.

Washington State Patrol spokesman Mark Francis said the fatalities had taken place inside Macy’s department store.
Sgt. Mark Francis confirmed the death of a fifth victim, a man, on September 24. The other four were women.
He said the gunman had left the scene before police arrived and was last seen walking towards a highway.
Washington Governor Jay Inslee, said the shooting was a tragedy.
“We urge residents to heed all safety and detour warnings. Stay close to your friends and loved ones as we await more information and, hopefully, news of the suspect’s capture.”
Emergency management officials have told residents to stay inside with their doors locked and avoid the area near the Cascade Mall. Drivers are being urged to keep nearby major roads clear.
The FBI, which is assisting in the investigation, says there is no evidence that further attacks are planned in Washington State.

Shanghai’s Taian Table restaurant has closed down a day after being awarded a Michelin star, reportedly because it lacked the necessary licenses to operate.
The restaurant, which opened in April and served Western dishes, was described by Michelin as “graceful” and praised for its “clever recipes”.
However, neighbors living above the restaurant had complained of kitchen smoke and noise.
Taian Table – one of 26 restaurants in Shanghai to gain a star in the guide’s first China edition – said it would relocate.

The restaurant was run under the direction of German chef Stefan Stiller, who has previously opened a series of restaurants in Shanghai.
Snapchat has launched Spectacles, the company’s first gadget – sunglasses with a built-in camera.
Spectacles will go on sale later this year priced at $130.
The glasses will record up to 30 seconds of video at time.

The Secret Service is looking into a “cyber breach” after what appeared to be a scan of First Lady Michelle Obama’s passport was published online.
The hacking group DC Leaks posted on its Twitter account this morning what appears to be a scanned copy of Michelle Obama’s passport, along with several White House staffers’ private communications.
The scan appeared to have been taken from a Gmail account belonging to a White House employee, a spokesman said.

Other confidential information was published online, including travel details, names, social security numbers and birth dates of members of staff.
The White House said it had not yet verified the documents.
DCLeaks.com, the hacker group which last week published personal emails from an account belonging to former Secretary of State Colin Powell’s emails, claimed responsibility for the hack.
US Attorney General Loretta Lynch said the incident was “something that we are looking into”. White House press secretary Josh Earnest said the breach “should be a wake-up call for all of us”.
Josh Earnest said that the employee targeted by the hackers was a contract worker and not a permanent member of staff.
He said: “At this point I cannot announce any sort of conclusion that’s been reached about the individual or individuals that may have been responsible for the cyber breach that resulted in this information being leaked.”
The Secret Service, which is responsible for protecting the President and First Lady, said it was “concerned” about the apparent hacking.
“The Secret Service is concerned any time unauthorized information that might pertain to one of the individuals we protect, or our operations, is allegedly disclosed,” said communications director Cathy Milhoan.
The city of Charlotte, North Carolina, has been rocked by protests for a third night after African-American Keith Lamont Scott was shot dead by a black police officer on September 20.
September 22 protest was largely peaceful after violence a day earlier during which one person was fatally shot.

Excessive police force used against black men has been the subject of protests for two years across the US.

On September 20, Keith Lamont Scott was killed in Charlotte after police say he refused to drop a gun he was carrying. His family say he was unarmed and holding a book.
Police have released a video of the shooting to the family, but have refused to make it public.
The family’s lawyer, Justin Bamberg, said no gun was visible in the video and Keith Lamont Scott appeared to be “acting calm”.
“You do see something in his hand, but it’s impossible to make out from the video what it is.”
Police chief Kerr Putney said the video proved the shooting was justified, telling Fox news: “The officer perceived his failure to comply with commands, failure to drop the weapon and facing the officers as an imminent threat.”
On September 22, demonstrators protesting against Keith Lamont Scott’s death defied a curfew put into force by the city’s mayor on the same day – running from midnight to 06:00.
Cpt. Mike Campagna said officers did not enforce the curfew as protests were largely peaceful, with some on the street singing gospel songs.
However, Charlotte police reported two officers were injured.
Hundreds of National Guard troops were deployed on the streets of Charlotte to protect the city against further violence and property damage.
It followed September 21 protest during which protesters smashed windows of hotels and restaurants, set fires, and attacked reporters.
Peaceful demonstrations took place in the aftermath of last week’s shooting in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
On September 22, Officer Betty Shelby was charged with manslaughter for shooting unarmed African-American Terence Crutcher.
Prosecutors said Betty Shelby’s decision to shoot Terence Crutcher was “unreasonable”.
Video of the Tulsa incident shows Terence Crutcher with his hands up, leaning against the car.
Betty Shelby said Terence Crutcher had not followed her commands and she had opened fire when he began to reach into his car window.
As well as being shot, Terence Crutcher was also struck with a stun gun by another officer.
Betty Shelby’s lawyer, Scott Wood, has said she believed Terence Crutcher was under the influence of the synthetic drug PCP. A vial of the drug was found in the car.
Terence Crutcher’s family have disputed Betty Shelby’s claim, arguing that his window was closed at the time of the incident.
Police have said no gun was found on Terence Crutcher or inside his vehicle.
The DoJ has also opened a separate investigation to see if Terence Crutcher’s civil rights were violated.
Officer Betty Shelby faces a minimum of four years in prison.
After the charge, a small group of demonstrators gathered in Tulsa to demand a harsher sentence.
The FBI has said it is deciding whether to pursue and investigate an alleged incident regarding Brad Pitt and his children while travelling on a private jet last week, Variety reports.
It was “continuing to gather facts” and would evaluate whether an investigation at the federal level would be pursued
Angelina Jolie filed for divorce on September 19 citing irreconcilable differences.
She has asked for physical custody of the couple’s six children, asking the judge to give Brad Pitt visitation rights.

The LA Times reported that the FBI had been informed of “a child welfare incident” involving Pitt on an international flight last week by a law enforcement source who was not authorized to discuss the matter. It said that the incident involved “unruly behavior” and that the Los Angeles county department of children and family services was conducting an investigation.
The LAPD denied that it was conducting an investigation into Brad Pitt, and said that to the best of its knowledge, no allegations had been made against him.
The alleged incident is believed to have taken place on September 14, on a private jet flying from France to Los Angeles.
Brad Pitt released a statement to People magazine after Angelina Jolie filed for divorce, saying he was “saddened”, and adding: “What matters most now is the well-being of our kids. I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time.”
Angelina Jolie’s lawyer, Robert Offer, said the decision to divorce had been made “for the health of the family”.
Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services said it could not confirm or deny whether it was investigating Brad Pitt because of confidentiality laws.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt married in 2014, having been together for a decade. They have six children together.
The West Wing stars are to campaign for Hillary Clinton in Ohio this weekend.
Allison Janney, Richard Schiff, Dule Hill, Bradley Whitford, Joshua Malina, and Mary McCormack will reunite to help organize events across the state.
The stars of the former hit political TV drama will appear in towns including Cleveland, Sandusky and Toledo.
The West Wing, also starring Martin Sheen, ran on NBC from 1999 to 2006.
Martin Sheen played Democratic President Josiah Bartlet in the Golden Globe-winning drama, played out within the enclaves of the White House.
His former co-stars will go on the Clinton campaign trail to rally the public to vote, according to a campaign statement.
“The actors will discuss why they are supporting Clinton and urge Ohioans to register to vote ahead of the 11 October deadline and to get involved in organizing their communities ahead of November’s election,” the statement said.
Martin Sheen however won’t be joining his former West Wing colleagues, neither will Rob Lowe, one of the drama’s other main stars.
He has nonetheless previously stated his support for Hillary Clinton – and been damning of her Republican rival, Donald Trump.

French actress Marion Cotillard has reacted to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s divorce news, denying she had an affair with the Hollywood actor.
Marion Cotillard addressed rumors in an Instagram post.
“Many years ago, I met the man of my life. He is my love, my best friend, the only one that I need,” she said.
Marion Cotillard, 40, also revealed she and her husband Guillaume Canet were expecting their second child.
Her private life had been thrown in to the spotlight following the news that Angelina Jolie had filed for divorce on September 19, citing “irreconcilable differences”.
“This is going to be my first and only reaction to the whirlwind news that broke 24 hours ago and that I was swept up into,” Marion Cotillard said.
“I am not used to commenting on things like this nor taking them seriously but as this situation is spiraling and affecting people I love, I have to speak up.
“Firstly, many years ago, I met the man of my life, father of our son and of the baby we are expecting. He is my love, my best friend, the only one that I need.
“Secondly to those who have indicated that I am devastated, I am very well thank you. This crafted conversation isn’t distressing.

What a person drives tells us a lot about them. This information is even more true when applied to politicians. We can learn about their true feelings on the environment, waste and safety, among other things.
Since it is often difficult to get any real truth out of political candidates these days, we decided to investigate their personal vehicle choices to ascertain critical data needed before going to polls in November and beyond. Of course, we sincerely hope that at least all of the candidates have taken an approved defensive driving course. Road safety is an important part of being a responsible citizen.
Now, we do not expect anyone out there to change their vote based on this research alone. However, use it as part of a broad-based decision about the candidates.
Without further ado, here is what the major presidential candidates, both current and former, drive on a regular basis. Some will shock you, others are as expected.
Hillary Clinton
As both the former First Lady and Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton has lots of security forces protecting her. Obviously she needs a large vehicle to transport this entourage wherever she goes. So, it is with little wonder that Clinton has a large Dodge Conversion Van.
This vehicle has a large top and extended rear that reminds us of vans from the 1970s. In fact, the Washington press corps refers to the Clinton transport as the “Scooby Van.”
Hillary has a spotless driving record, largely because she has not actually been behind the wheel since 1996! We do know that in law school, Clinton had a 1963 Oldsmobile Cutlass. The car cost a mere $120 and proved to be a lemon. On cold nights Clinton had to remove the battery and keep it warm in her dorm room. Otherwise, the car would not run the next day.
Bernie Sanders
This democratic-socialist out of Vermont enjoys a reputation for being green. Some of his most ardent supporters are those on the left of the political spectrum who embrace environmental awareness. One would expect Sanders to drive around in a nice, eco-friendly, gas efficient vehicle. Perhaps even an electric car.
Well, you might be disappointed to learn that “the Bern” has a luxury Lincoln Town Car SUV. There is no way he can claim this car is green, with its dismal 20 miles per gallon on a good day. “Say it ain’t so, Bernie!”
Now, to be fair, Bernie did drive around in a electric hybrid years ago. Seems he has a more lavish lifestyle these days.
Donald Trump
The Donald is a man of his word when it comes to car choice. He says he is rich and proves it. Trump has all of the top brands, Lamborghini, Rolls Royce, Mercedes, McLaren, etc. The list goes on and on…
Trump plans to make America great again. Well, he should start with the car industry because based on his garage, Trump prefers foreign automakers. Ouch!
Jeb Bush
Jeb did not get very far in the Republican campaign. Perhaps that has something to do with his car choice. Though Americans often claim they want more down-to-earth candidates, when they had one in Jeb, the people tossed him to the side.
This Bush takes Uber when possible and drives his own eco-friendly Ford Fusion hybrid. His wife Columba has a tiny Mini Cooper. Now that is as real as it gets.

Three-year -old Tserin Dopchut survived alone for 72 hours in a forest in the remote Russian region of Siberia, in an area renowned for being inhabited by wolves and bears.
The boy only had a small bar of chocolate in his pocket when he wandered into the woodland.
According to The Siberian Times, the child slept on a dry makeshift bed under a larch tree.
A huge land and air search was launched to find Tserin, who may have been following a puppy when he vanished.
The toddler had been under the care of his great grandmother, local media reported, but he ventured off near the village of Khut, located amid dense forestry in the Tuva Republic when her back was turned.

For 72 hours the boy braved plummeting temperatures, the threat of wild animals and the danger of falling into a fast-flowing river before he was eventually rescued by his uncle.
“The situation was very dangerous. The River Mynas is fast and cold. If a small child fell in, it would be certain death,” Ayas Saryglar, head of Tyva’s Civil Defense and Emergencies agency, told the Siberian Times.
“There are wolves, and bears in the forest. The bears are now fattening for the winter. They can attack anything that moves.
“In addition, it is warm during the day, but at night there are even frosts. If we consider that the kid disappeared during the day, he was not properly dressed – only a shirt and shoes, no coat.”
A day and night search operation to find the toddler involved villagers, local policemen and even a helicopter scouring a vast area of about 120 square km.
Another official told local media that the boy was saved after recognizing his uncle’s voice calling his name. After being hugged, Tserin’s first question was whether his toy car was okay.
Rescuers were quick to praise the boy’s initiative – he found a dry place under a larch tree and slept between its roots.
“The whole [of his] village is throwing a party to celebrate his survival,” regional leader Sholban Kara-Ool was quoted as saying.
Tserin Dopchut has now been nicknamed Mowgli, The Siberian Times reported. Mowgli is the fictional orphan in Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle Book novels.
Doctors say that Tserin Dopchut suffered no serious injuries from his ordeal.

About 500 million Yahoo users were hit by the 2014 hacking attack, the tech giant has confirmed.
The breach, the largest publicly disclosed in history, included swathes of personal information including names and emails as well as “unencrypted security questions and answers”.
According to Yahoo, the breach did not include any credit card data. The site said it believed the attack was state-sponsored.
In July, Yahoo was sold to Verizon for $4.8 billion.
News of a possible major attack on Yahoo emerged in August when a hacker known as “Peace” was apparently attempting to sell information on 200 million accounts.
On September 22, Yahoo confirmed the breach was far bigger than first thought.
The data taken includes names, email addresses, telephone numbers, dates of birth and encrypted passwords.
Yahoo recommended all users should change their passwords if they had not done so since 2014.
It said in a statement: “Online intrusions and thefts by state-sponsored actors have become increasingly common across the technology industry.”
Reuters reported three unnamed US intelligence officials as saying they believed the attack was state-sponsored because it was similar to previous hacks linked to Russian intelligence agencies.
Disney has decided to withdraw a children’s costume promoting its Moana animation movie, after accusations of cultural appropriation.
Moana “brownface” costume, a full-body suit with brown skin, traditional tattoos, grass skirt and bone necklace, represents the character Maui, considered a demi-god and ancestor by many Polynesians.
Activists said it was “brownface”, or mocking of the culture by creating stereotypes.
Disney said in a statement it regretted any offence: “The team behind Moana has taken great care to respect the cultures of the Pacific Islands that inspired the film, and we regret that the Maui costume has offended some.
“We sincerely apologize and are pulling the costume from our website and stores.”
Moana, due for release in November, tells the story of a young girl who teams up with the demi-god Maui to make an ocean voyage and save her people.
The character of Moana has been widely welcomed because she is feisty, independent and with a more realistic body shape than most Disney female leads.
Moana also has no love interest in the story, which was written by New Zealand Maori film-maker Taika Waititi.
When the trailer for Moana was released in June, many people were offended by the depiction of Maui, saying he was an “obese” caricature of Polynesian men.
Among the merchandise promoting Moana was the Maui costume, on sale for about $44.
The costume was advertised as helping children “set off on adventures”, with his “signature tattoos” and clothing.
Among the angry responses were people saying “our skin is not a costume”, and pointing out that white-skin outfits are never sold for white characters.
