Now called again Sycamore Valley Ranch, the property was bought by private investment company Colony Capital in 2008 for $23.5 million.
With millions put into its restoration, the listing is being split by Sotheby’s broker Harry Kolb and Hilton & Hyland’s Jeffrey Hyland.
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal Jeffrey Hyland said that they’re “not encouraging a lot of showings”.
A Sotheby’s representative also said: “We’re not going to be giving tours.”
Michael Jackson owned the Neverland Valley Ranch from 1988 to 2005. The musician named the property for Neverland, the fantasy island in the story of Peter Pan, a boy who never grows up.
Following Michael Jackson’s death in 2009, media speculated that his family intended to bury him at the Neverland Ranch, eventually turning it into a place of pilgrimage for his fans, similar to how Graceland has become a destination for fans of Elvis Presley.
Since 2009, the Neverland Ranch rides Balloon Samba, Jeeps, Wave Swinger and Dinos have been featured attractions at the California State Fair in Sacramento.
