However, it appears that Mama June’s daughter, Anna Shannon, who was the victim of her ex-boyfriend child molester, decided to leave Here Comes Honey Boo Boo show on the same month Mark McDaniel was released from jail.
Was Anna Shannon’s decision to leave the show linked to a rekindled romance between her mother and the child molester?
June Shannon, 34, said that news of her rekindled romance with Mark McDaniel – who was indicted in June 2003 for molesting her daughter Anna “Chickadee” Shannon when she was 8-year-old – isn’t true.
However, sources claim that Mark McDaniel and June Shannon dated before he went to prison for assault in 2004, and they reconciled shortly after he was released in March.
Now, Honey Boo Boo’s older sister believes that her mother betrayed her by dating Mark McDaniel again behind the family’s back.
“I believe she is seeing him and hanging around him,” Anna Shannon told RadarOnline.
“I’m hurt,” she added.
Mark McDaniel, now 53, was sentenced to ten years in prison for his crime. He was released from Dodge State Prison on March 1, 2014.
On March 28, according to a statement posted on Mama June’s Facebook page, the Here Comes Honey Boo Boo matriarch announced that Anna Shannon was leaving the reality show: “Anna is leaving the show, I am so sad but its her decision she wants nothing to do with the family.”
June Shannon split from longtime love and Honey Boo Boo’s father, 42-year-old Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson, in September.
Meanwhile, TLC decided to cancel Here Comes Honey Boo Boo amid Season 5 production.
