June Shannon reveals how she and Sugar Bear met on Kelly & Michael

Here Comes Honey Boo Boo’s matriarch June Shannon revealed how she and Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson met during an appearance on Kelly & Michael.

“We actually met online, through a Yahoo chatroom,” Mama June said.

“I love when people meet online!” Kelly Ripa exclaimed.

“It was kind of a like a hook em and book em kind of thing,” Mama June further explained.

“Kind of like a you call me, I call you kind of thing. And it just, like, developed from there.”

Michael Gelman asked for clarity: “Did you say hook him and book him?”

“You know, the phone rings late at night…,” Honey Boo Boo’s mom said.

Then Michael asked her what was the most romantic thing Sugar Bear had ever done.

“He actually got the right kind of candles that I like. I’m a huge Bath and Body Works candle freak,” Mama June said.

“We have about 50 candles in our house in her stock pile!” Honey Boo Boo offered.

Mama June noted: “When they go on sale for 75 percent off and you use coupons you can get them for three and four dollars.”

“That’s right, you are the coupon queen?” Kelly noted.

“Pretty much,” June Shannon said.

“And I’m the pageant queen!” Honey Boo Boo said, fluffing her hair.

Moving on, Kelly read some reader questions. First, how is Mama June’s forklift foot doing?

“You can dance still?” Kelly asked, potentially opening the door to a Mama June branding opportunity.

“I’m not going to be on Dancing With the Stars anytime soon,” the reality star said.

Wrapping up, a reader asked if Mama June would strike her signature “Smexy” pose. She obliged and Honey Boo Boo followed her mother’s lead.

“That was a double Smexy!” Kelly applauded.
