The First Lady, who admitted last month that her bangs were “getting a little irritating”, seems to have finally had enough of her five-month old haircut.
Her bangs, which she cut for her 49th birthday in January because of a “midlife crisis”, were grown out and parted to the side with her wavy hair slightly longer, touching her shoulders.
“This is my midlife crisis, the bangs. I couldn’t get a sports car,” Michelle Obama told talk show host Rachael Ray at the time.
“They won’t let me bungee jump. So instead, I cut my bangs.”
She recently admitted that she was already tired of the bangs, which she cut just in time for President Barack Obama’s inauguration.
The First Lady said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight last month: “Bangs are a day-by-day proposition. They’re starting to grow out, get a little irritating.”
The first indication that her hairstyle was becoming a burden came in April, when Malia, 14, was spotted adjusting her mother’s hair during the White House Easter Egg Roll.
The high school freshman gently smoothed her mother’s hair for the cameras, then leaned in to kiss her on the cheek.
Michelle Obama’s blunt chop made headlines when it was first debuted in January, even managing to overshadow the President’s inauguration weekend.
Barack Obama jokingly announced at the start of the festivities: “To address the most significant event of the weekend, I love her bangs.”
“The bangs are fun but you know, I’m like a girl, what’s next?”
The hairstyle became such a talking point that one fan even created a Twitter account called MichellesBangs.
