Chris Brown has revealed he struggled when he realized he still loved Rihanna and had to tell Karrueche Tran he had feelings for his ex
Chris Brown, 23, initially shocked the world when he revealed in October his feelings towards Rihanna, whom he had seriously assaulted during their relationship.
The singer told radio station Hot 97 he decided to make a video about his feelings for two woman at the time as he thought it was the mature thing to do.
Chris Brown said: “I wanted to be more of a man.
“Me being young, even with relationships in the past, I did a lot of lying, I did everything just to make sure nobody gets hurt in the process.”
Karrueche Tran, his then live-in girlfriend of more than a year, did seem very hurt especially about Chris Brown making a public video.
She took to Twitter at the time saying: “WTF is going on?”
“All I am saying is… You don’t mess with people’s genuine feelings. You just don’t!”
Despite Karrueche Tran being left feeling blindsided, Chris Brown insisted on the station on Monday that it had to be done.
“I just don’t feel it’s necessary anymore in my life. Nobody can hate me for being honest. I had to just be brutal. I told both of them that the video was coming out.
“I’m not trying to be a player. It’s never an easy situation to tell another person that you still love another person, so that’s kinda difficult.
“But our friendship, me and Karrueche’s friendship, is still cool. We’re still good friends.”
Karrueche Tran and Chris Brown officially split in October, the same time Chris was spotted with Rihanna, whom he was convicted of viciously assaulting in 2009.
LA station Power 106 sparked rumors that Chris Brown and Rihanna had already split over the weekend after tweeting: “Are you still w/ @Rihanna? @ChrisBrown: Uh, no – that’s the short answer just now to @BigBoy POWER 106 LA @TuneIn.”
Later on Monday Chris Brown however made it clear he was still with Rihanna during an appearance on the Today Show.
When Today Show’s host Matt Lauer asked him if they were still together, Chris Brown replied: “Absolutely. Everything is fine.”
