Paparazzo killed while taking Justin Bieber car pictures

A celebrity photographer has been killed after being hit by a vehicle while taking pictures of Justin Bieber’s sports car.

Police say the paparazzo died in hospital on Tuesday (January 1) evening.

Police officer James Stoughton confirmed that Justin Bieber was not in his car at the time of the crash on Sepulveda Boulevard in Los Angeles.

He also says that no charges are likely to be filed against the motorist who hit the photographer.

He did not reveal the identity of the man who had died.

Justin Bieber’s white Ferrari was parked after a traffic stop and the photographer was hit as he walked across the boulevard after taking pictures.

After the tragic event, Justin Bieber has called for new laws for paparazzi photography.

Following news of the man’s death, the 18-year-old singer today released a statement.

As reported by CNN, the statement said: “While I was not present nor directly involved with this tragic accident, my thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim.

“Hopefully this tragedy will finally inspire meaningful legislation and whatever other necessary steps to protect the lives and safety of celebrities, police officers, innocent public bystanders, and the photographers themselves.”

It is believed the photographer was tailing Justin Bieber’s white Ferrari when it was pulled over by California Highway Patrol officers.

He got out of his car to take pictures but was struck by another car as he was running back to his own vehicle, sources told the Los Angeles Times.

James Stoughton said the photographer, who was not identified, died at a hospital shortly after the crash Tuesday evening.

The sports car was parked on the side of Sepulveda Boulevard near Getty Center Drive after a traffic stop. The photographer was struck as he walked across the boulevard after taking pictures.

James Stoughton says no charges are likely to be filed against the motorist who hit the man.

The LAPD is continuing to investigate the man’s death.
