Ireland Baldwin reveals she has a close relationship with step-mother Hilaria Thomas

Ireland Baldwin, who is the image of her stunning mother, Kim Basinger, has revealed she calls 28-year-old Hilaria Thomas “mom”.

Ireland Baldwin, 16, is known as Dublin for short and gave her father Alec Baldwin away at his Manhattan wedding earlier this year revealed she is being homeschooled in LA, where she lives with Kim Basinger, 58.

The teenager told Page Six Magazine: “I didn’t want to go my senior year without spending time with my dad.

“And Hilaria and I are really close. She’s like a big sister to me, but I feel like I haven’t spent enough time with her yet.

“We have a lot more to learn about each other and we have a lot more experiences to have together.

“We joke around and I call her <<Mom>>. But I respect her, it’s not like I’m Parent Trap-ping her, setting up booby traps in her room.”

Ireland Baldwin’s famous parents split when she was just five after her mother’s Academy Award for LA Confidential; her 54-year-old father had moved his young family to his childhood home in Long Island and it pushed a final wedge between the starry pair.

Alec Baldwin followed his family back to LA so he could maintain a close relationship with Ireland, but in 2005 she complained of feeling unsafe around the 30 Rock star after overhearing a row between him and his then girlfriend.

In 2007, an infamous voicemail from Alec Baldwin was leaked.

On it you can hear him accusing his daughter of being a “rude, thoughtless little pig”.

But Ireland Baldwin counters: “I’ve always had a really great relationship with my dad,” she tells Page Six Magazine from the California cottage where she lives with Kim Basinger.

“The only problem with that voicemail was that people made it out to be a way bigger deal than it was. He’s said stuff like that before just because he’s frustrated.

“For me it was like, <<OK, whatever>>. I called him back, I was like, <<Sorry, Dad, I didn’t have my phone>>. That was it.”

“We almost did something funny on YouTube, of me calling him and yelling at him,” she laughs.

“We were just talking about it the other week.”

Ireland Baldwin also paid a tribute to yoga instructor Hilaria’s “extreme” diets and gave her the credit for reversing Alec’s pre-diabetic state.
