Cissy Houston insists Whitney’s tragic passing last month in the age of 48 hasn’t made her question her religious faith but she has still not fully accepted the tragedy.
Whitney Houston’s mother said: “I have my moments … I’m not there yet. I am a true believer in God. If I could bring her back I would, but that’s not possible.”
Cissy Houston, 78, praised her “wonderful” daughter – who died of accidental drowning due to the effects of heart disease and cocaine use – and spoke of her pride in Whitney’s career achievements.
In an interview with Brenda Blackmon for My9’s The 10 0’Clock News which aired on Monday (04-02-12), Cissy Houston said: “She accomplished a whole lot in the short time that she had here.
“She was a wonderful person. She was very special to me. She was my only daughter, and a good one.”
Cissy Houston believes she did her best to raise Whitney – who had struggled with drug addiction in the past – the right way and doesn’t have any regrets.
The gospel singer said: “I know I did the best I could. I don’t blame myself. I know I did the best I could for everything.”
And Cissy Houston also condemned reports that her daughter – who had a 19-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina with ex-husband Bobby Brown – had little of her fortune left when she died.
Cissy Houston said: “Whitney did not die broke. She’s not broke. She’s not anything. None of that c**p.”
