The event was attended by Whitney Houston’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, and record label executive Clive Davis, who discovered the singer.
Whitney Houston was found dead in a Beverly Hills hotel bathtub the night before this year’s Grammy awards.
Authorities said the cause of death was accidental drowning brought on by cocaine use and heart disease.

The teenager has in the past been seen wearing her mother’s jewellery in the wake of her passing.

The trustees claim in the schedule of distribution conflicts with her “intent to provide long-term financial security and protection for her child”.
“Compliance with the provisions of the trust would defeat or substantially impair the accomplishment of the purposes of the trust, which were to provide for the proper maintenance and comfort of the respondent, and to prevent the wasting of trust assets, as evidenced by the trust’s spend thrift provision.”
Bobbi Kristina Brown is the sole beneficiary of Whitney Houston’s estate, which holds all of the superstar’s remaining earnings and assets.

And speaking previously about her love for Whitney Houston, Jennifer Hudson said: “I admired her style, her look, and above all else, her voice and technique.”
Meanwhile, Celine Dion used Whitney Houston’s death as a warning to other young music stars in a recent interviews.
She told W magazine: “I’ve always been scared of the industry. Why?
“Because I think it’s a place here anything is possible. It’s a <<yes>> place. Especially if you have success.
“I was just in shock when Whitney’s life had been taken because of drugs.

Bobbi Kristina Brown, 19, was a passenger in Nick Gordon’s black 2012 Camaro when it was severely damaged in Georgia at the weekend.
It is currently unclear how the accident happened.
According to gossip website TMZ.com, the couple had been arguing at the time of the crash – which destroyed the entire front end of the vehicle – and Nick Gordon’s Camaro was the only car involved. No one was injured.

The source added: “Bobby’s family and friends are terrified, despite his pleas that he’s sober, that he will fall off the wagon once again.

“It’s difficult to believe someone going into rehab for alcohol addiction for such a short time is genuine about giving up drinking.”

In a statement, attorney Christopher Brown said: “Mr. Brown takes his agreement very seriously and admitted himself three weeks after concluding his honeymoon in Mexico during a break from the New Edition tour.
“Bobby is doing well and receiving services that comply with his agreement with the State of California.”

Whitney Houston stars as Emma, the mother of Sparkle Anderson, played by Jordin Sparks, and her two sisters who are trying to make it as a motown girlband in the remake of the 1976 movie-musical.
The darker aspects of the story reminded Whitney Houston of her own troubled life, according to Carmen Ejog, who plays troubled Tammy “Sister” Anderson.
“Sister really takes like a crazy journey and Whitney was very aware of that story line being very parallel to her own, and I think it’s to her credit that she was excited to bring a message that was as dark as it was light, and was not scared of doing that,” Carmen Ejog told MTV News.
“If she was here right now she’d be talking about those parallels without any shame and with the sense of giving to us as an audience, as like the receiving of this movie and this story.
“When you get to that level you could just be guarded and just keep so many things to yourself and she just wasn’t that person.
“<<Learn from me, learn from this cautionary tale>>, is literally what she says in the movie, and that’s amazing.”
Also at last night’s premiere was Whitney Houston’s grieving mother Cissy and her boyfriend Ray J, who she was dating at the time of her death.

The Whitney! exhibit will include stage costumes worn by Houston, including the white, beaded gown she wore when awards the 1992 Grammy for album of the year; album and career scrapbooks from the early days of her career; concert posters and tour booklets, rare photographs of Whitney Houston, and her personal Bible.
There will also be interviews with a number of musicians and artists who worked with or were influenced by Whitney Houston.
Sparkle movie will premiere on August 17.
The Whitney! exhibit will be on display at the Grammy Museum until February 2013.
M.C. Hammer reveals that Whitney Houston’s father once tried to get the singers to marry in an exclusive interview with In the Mixx host Gina Glickman Giordan on Saturday.
M.C. Hammer says that while at Super Bowl XXV, where Whitney Houston gave her memorable rendition of The Star-Spangled Banner, the late singer’s father, John, attempted to play match maker for the two stars.
“Whitney’s dad pulled me and Whitney in a room and said you know Hammer, you should really consider marrying Whitney. And, I said, I’d love to but I’m already married.”

MTV has gotten their paws on R. Kelly’s new memoir Soulacoaster, The Diary of Me, and the most surprising detail is that the King of R&B needed a hanky after watching The Notebook movie.
The cheesy 2004 romance movie was the final spark to push R. Kelly to divorce wife and former back up dancer Andrea Kelly, inciting an intense period of introspection about the woman he married in 1996 and had three children with.
“As the film credits started to roll, I couldn’t move,” wrote R. Kelly.

“I burst into tears. People walking past me patted me on the back, trying to console me. <<The Notebook>> was beautiful, and I was crying because its hero and heroine had died together. And there was nothing I could do to bring it back.”
The couple divorced in January 2009, a mere six months after R. Kelly, real name Robert Sylvester Kelly, was exonerated of all 14 counts of videotaping himself having sex with an underage girl. Talk about a Pyrrhic victory.
R. Kelly’s music will next be heard in this summer’s Whitney Houston starrer Sparkle, which he composed several new tracks for.
Ray J is reportedly still struggling to come to terms with Whitney Houston’s death.
Ray J, who dated Whitney Houston on-off until her tragic death in February, is finding it “tough” because as well as missing her, he has been subjected to a lot of cruel comments.
His sister, singer Brandy Norwood, said: “It’s been really tough on him, just trying to get through it.
“They were really, really good friends and some of the things that people have said about him, [have] really hurt him. Being the kind person that he is, the good guy that he, it’s just been tough for him to get through some of the things that have been going on.”
