Two people are dead after a drunk driver crashed through barricades set up for the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas police says.
A man and a woman died and many others were injured on the crowded street in Austin.
The driver is thought to have been trying to escape from the police when the collision happened.
Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo said he had now been taken into custody after officers shocked him with a stun gun.
The driver will face two counts of capital murder over the crash, which took place about 12.30 a.m. local time on Thursday.
Art Acevedo confirmed the two people who died had been on a moped. Further details about the pair have yet to be released.
Many of the 23 who have been hurt were thought to have been leaving a club where a concert had been held. Five of the injured are said to be in a critical condition.

Last week, Honey Boo Boo’s family suffered numerous injuries following a car crash that ended with three being hospitalized with illnesses.
The car accident happened just days after their returning from a turbulent trip to Disneyland.
Following the investigation, the cops are saying that Sugar Bear (Mike Thompson) was at fault in the crash.
Sugar Bear was at fault in the Honey Boo Boo clan’s car crash
According to Milledgeville Police, authorities have determined that Sugar Bear was the cause of the collision, as he made an unsafe left turn in the intersection, cutting off the truck that ultimately plowed into them. At first, there was word that the other vehicle didn’t have their lights on, but now Mike Thompson has admitted that the other car was visible, making him the responsible party for making a safe turn.
However, no charges will be filed against Sugar Bear, and the matter will be handled between insurance companies. In addition, though Pumpkin was back in the hospital earlier this week with a concussion and post-traumatic stress from the accident, she’s now been released and the family is recovering well.

Days after Honey Boo Boo and her family were involved in a car crash, an audio from the 911 call that was reported by a witness to the wreck has emerged.
According to E! Online, a woman phones in to a 911 emergency operator, saying: “There’s a wreck right in front of Lowe’s. They just hit each other.”
The operator asks if there are injuries, to which the woman responds: “I don’t think so. I’m at the light and they hit each other but it don’t look too bad.”
An ambulance arrives to the scene at the end of the one-minute call before the woman hangs up.
After the accident, which involved 8-year-old Alana, Mama June, Sugar Bear, Pumpkin and Chubbs, occurred in Milledgeville, Georgia, when a pickup truck hit the Here Comes Honey Boo Boo stars’ vehicle as they were making a left turn at the light. Walter Green hasn’t been in contact with the Thompson family or their attorneys or TLC.
Seth Cagle’s attorney added that his client’s insurance company has been in contact with the Thompsons.
“His vehicle isn’t drivable,” he said.
“They have sent someone to investigate the accident. Seth reported the accident to his insurance as well. He wants to let the insurance companies take its course just like any accident. It is nothing out of the ordinary.”
“He [Seth Cagle] is doing good and he is going to be fine but he is a little sore right now,” he added.

It was really scary for us, since it was the first time any of us had ever been in a wreck. We are definitely really sore today, but our top priority is to celebrate Pumpkin’s birthday. She turned 14 today and no matter how sore we feel we are going to go out and celebrate. As always we want to thank everyone for their support and well wishes.”

At least five people died and 38 others were injured after a vehicle crashed in Tiananmen Square in Beijing, Chinese state media have said.
Three of those killed were inside the car and the other two were bystanders.
The square was evacuated and quickly reopened after the vehicle went into the crowd in front of the Tiananmen rostrum at midday.
Images posted online showed a vehicle in flames, amid barricades. There has been no explanation for the crash.
Other pictures on social media showed a column of smoke rising from the scene of the crash.
Three people inside the vehicle died, Beijing police said on its official microblog account, adding that one female tourist from the Philippines and a male tourist from Guangdong province had also died.
Senior leaders from both the central government and the local authorities in Beijing and the Ministry of Public Security have visited the scene, it said.
An investigation is under way and the injured have been taken to hospital, Beijing police said.
Tiananmen Square was the scene of the 1989 pro-democracy protests which were ended by a military crackdown.
At least five people died and 38 others were injured after a vehicle crashed in Tiananmen Square in Beijing
The site is generally kept under very tight security both because of its proximity to key political institutions and so that is does not serve as a hub for protesters and petitioners.
Incidents do occur, nonetheless. In 2011, a man set himself on fire at Tiananmen Square following what officials said was a legal dispute, close to the square’s portrait of Chairman Mao.
Two years before that, three people set themselves on fire in a car at a busy intersection near Tiananmen Square over what the authorities called personal grievances.
In 2000, several members of the banned Falun Gong spiritual movement were arrested for protesting at the square.
Fire extinguishers are kept at the site, and have been used when protesters set themselves on fire.
Monday’s incident took place at the north end of Tiananmen Square, near an entrance to the Forbidden City.
“A driver and two passengers were killed after a jeep crashed into a crowd of people and caught fire,” Xinhua news agency said.
Citing police and emergency officials, it said police officers were among those injured by the jeep, “which crashed into a guardrail of Jinshui Bridge on the moat of the Forbidden City before bursting into flames at 12:05 pm”.
One unnamed eyewitness told AFP news agency: “I saw a car turn a bend and suddenly it was driving on the pavement, it happened fast but looked like it knocked people over.”
“I heard an explosion and saw fire. The scene was very frightening,” he added.
“There were paramilitary police who told people to get back into their cars and stop taking pictures.”
In a microblog post on its verified Sina Weibo account, the Beijing police said that “the injured people were all sent to a nearby hospital”.
“Police at the site immediately launched rescue efforts, and the fire was quickly extinguished… the situation is currently being investigated further,” the police added.
A subway station close to the square was temporarily closed at the request of police, Beijing transport authorities said. Police also closed the road near the crash.
News of the incident first appeared on social media from those who were at the scene, but it appeared that some pictures were being quickly removed.
AFP news agency said that two of its reporters were also held close to the square, with images deleted from their cameras.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying, when asked whether the government believed the incident was a terror attack, said that she did not know the specifics of the case and declined further comment.

Kylie Jenner only just got her license 18 days ago after turning 16-years-old earlier this month, but she has already crashed her $125,000 Mercedes-Benz SUV.
Kylie Jenner got into a three car chain reaction collision on Tuesday and TMZ have obtained pictures of the crash.
She was driving her new wheels around Calabasas when she slammed into the back of a Toyota which then subsequently hit a Volkswagen SUV.
After the smash, which occurred around 5 pm in the afternoon, Kylie Jenner immediately jumped out her vehicle and made sure everybody was OK whilst apologizing profusely.
No passengers were injured in the accident.
In pictures of the collision, the entire back of the Toyota is seen crumpled with the back bumper bar completely removed, while Kylie Jenner’s car appears to have very little damage.
The Volkswagen also appeared to be relatively unscathed.
Kylie Jenner only just got her license 18 days ago after turning 16-years-old earlier this month, but she has already crashed her $125,000 Mercedes-Benz SUV
Kylie Jenner is seen standing on the side of the road purveying the damage.
It seemed as though she had just come from a workout, wearing a pair of black three-quarter length leggings and a white tank top.
According to TMZ, Kylie Jenner exchanged insurance details and other information with the other drivers and then left.
Police arrived to the crash site not long after, but Kylie Jenner was long gone.
Kylie Jenner turned sweet sixteen on August 10 and just two days later obtained her license so she could start driving her gas-guzzler all on her own.
After the momentous occasion, her older sister Kourtney Kardashian memorialized the moment via Instagram.
Kourtney Kardashian, 34, captioned her snap: “Look out world! @kyliejenner is a licensed driver!”
While Rob Kardashian, equally proud, wrote: “Little Sis passed her driver’s test. Woot woot!”
In California an adolescent can become a licensed driver at the age of 16.
Kylie Jenner had been driving for at least six months with a learner’s permit, and was clearly delighted to be a fully fledged driver on the Los Angeles highways.

The mysterious priest who anointed a car crash victim and then vanished before rescue workers could thank him has been identified as Reverend Patrick Dowling who works with the Diocese of Jefferson County, Missouri.
Patrick Dowling revealed he was the religious figure who appeared at the side of Katie Lentz, 19, after she was injured in a head-on collision on August 4, in a comment under a story on a Catholic news website on Friday evening, but his confession went largely unnoticed until Monday.
The incredible story went viral as some assumed the mystery priest was an angel or deceased Catholic saint Padre Pio, had persuasive powers of conversion and could heal the sick.
But Patrick Dowling, under the article on the National Catholic Register site, explained he was in fact responsible for the apparent divine intervention.
He said he had been filling in for a sick priest at Mass and was on his way home when he came upon the crash scene.
Authorities had closed off the area and were re-routing traffic but Dowling waited until he could get closer.
“I parked behind a large vehicle about 150 yards from the scene. I asked the Sheriff’s permission and approached the scene of the accident,” Patrick Dowling said.
“I absolved and anointed Katie, and, at her request, prayed that her leg would not hurt. Then I stepped aside to where some rescue personnel and the pilot were waiting, and prayed the rosary silently.”
He said he left the wreckage just as the helicopter was about to leave to take Katie Lentz to hospital.
Interestingly, he said he told someone on the scene his name but it must not have been passed on.
He then thanked the hard work of the first responders.
Reverend Patrick Dowling revealed he was the religious figure who appeared at the side of Katie Lentz after she was injured in a head-on collision
“God has blessed your work. I hope the credit goes where it is due,” Patrick Dowling explained.
In a statement to The Blaze, a spokesman for the diocese, Deacon Dan Joyce, confirmed Patrick Dowling was indeed the faith healer responsible.
“Fr. Dowling said that he is pleased that he was able to help by performing his ministry and noted that that he was just one of many who responded to assist the victim at the accident,” the statement reads.
“He and the Diocese wish to acknowledge and thank the first responders, medical team and law enforcement personnel for their efforts that morning in aid of the young woman injured in the accident.”
Fr. Patrick Dowling, a native of Kilkenny, Ireland, was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Jefferson City in 1982 and has served at parishes in Moberly, Monroe City, Indian Creek, Milan, Unionville and Eldon, Missouri, and in the diocese’s mission parishes in Marcona and Nasca, Peru.
He is currently serving in prison ministry and in parish ministry to Spanish-speaking Catholics.
Emergency workers had been battling for an hour and a half to free Katie Lentz after the head on collision, but to no avail.
But as they joined hands the priest appeared, even though there were no bystanders and the road was blocked, who offered a prayer and an instruction to the rescuers that they would now be able to free her.
Suddenly, heavy equipment needed to cut through the metal arrived from a nearby town and Katie Lentz was pulled from the wreck in time to be saved – but when they turned to thank Patrick Dowling, he was gone.
“He came up and approached the patient, and offered a prayer,” Chief Raymond Reed said of the then-mystery priest to KHQA-TV.
“It was a Catholic priest who had anointing oil with him. A sense of calmness came over her, and it did us as well.
“I can’t be for certain how it was said, but myself and another firefighter, we very plainly heard that we should remain calm, that our tools would now work and that we would get her out of that vehicle.”
That is when officers from the neighboring Hannibal Fire Department arrived with their jaws-of-life and Katie Lentz was pulled to safety and put into an air ambulance to hospital.
Turning to thank the guardian angel who had arrived from nowhere at their lowest ebb, the emergency crews could not find him.
The highway had been blocked for a quarter of a mile each end during the hour and a half rescue and no bystanders and parked cars were anywhere near the crash site on Highway 19 near Center.
“We would like to find this gentleman and be able to thank him,” Raymond Reed said before Patrick Dowling identified himself.
“As a first responder, you don’t know what you’re going to run into. We have a lot of tools, and we have intensive training. In this particular case, it is my feeling that it was nothing more than sheer faith and nothing short of a miracle.”
Katie Lentz suffered several broken bones to repair her legs, but her friends and family say that her spirit has been boosted by the somewhat divine intervention.
“Both of her legs are very damaged,” Katie Lentz’s friend Amanda Wiseman said.
“Her wrist is broken, several broken ribs, so she’s had a lot of broken bones to deal with.”
Chief Raymond Reed said rescue crews were struggling to cut through the strong metal of Katie Lentz’s Mercedes.
“It was a very well-built car, and when you compact materials like that one, they become even stronger because you’re cutting through multiple things instead of one layer,” Raymond Reed said.
Raymond Reed says Katie Lentz was pinned in between the steering wheel and the seat and the prayer was offered just as he was told by the paramedics that Lentz was failing.
“Where did this guy come from?” Katie Lentz’s friend Travis Wiseman asked.
The driver of the other car in that accident, Aaron Smith, has been charged with a DWI, second degree assault and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway.

Jamie Lee Curtis has been hospitalized after she was involved in a car crash
According to a witness, Jamie Lee Curtis called Jodie Foster moments after the incident and Jodie showed up within minutes to lend some aid.
In photographs taken at the scene, Jamie Lee Curtis looked shaken up as she spoke to a police officer who had attended the scene.
Debris littered the road, and Jamie Lee Curtis chatted with Jodie Foster about what had just happened.
Firefighters also attended, and were pictured delivering first aid at the scene.
An ambulance then took Jamie Lee Curtis to ER, but according to TMZ her injuries were minor and she is now back home recovering.
Another person was also taken to hospital, and his injures were more serious.
A Friday evening car crash caused a vehicle to be knocked off the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and plummet 40 feet into the bay below.
The unidentified 22-year-old female driver of the vehicle survived the fall and was able to swim safely to a nearby jetty where she was rescued and taken to a hospital. She was released Saturday.
The crash happened Friday evening around 8:30 PM, shortly after she got on the bridge going eastbound about a quarter mile away from the shore.
She was struck by a tractor trailer and her car forced off the road and into the bay, some 40 feet below.
Maryland Transport Authority Police believe she was the only occupant in the car.
The woman’s car landed in about six to eight feet of water and was about a quarter-mile from the shore.
She was “very fortunate” as she was able to escape her vehicle and swim to a nearby jetty, according to Anne Arundel county fire department spokesman Steve Thompson.
A boater saw the crash and drove over to wait with the woman until paramedics in a fire department boat arrived to rescue her.
A young woman survived when her car was knocked 40ft off Chesapeake Bay Bridge
When she was rescued, the woman was conscious and able to communicate with officials.
After placing her in a Strokes rescue basket and taken to shore, the victim was then transported by helicopter to the University of Maryland Trauma Center in Baltimore to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
While she was initially admitted in critical condition Friday evening, her condition improved to stable and she was released Saturday night and allowed to return home.
The driver of the tractor trailer was uninjured in the crash, and stayed to answer questions from investigators.
A SUV was also involved in the crash, but there were no other injuries.
The last time a vehicle went off the bridge was in 2008, and the driver of a tractor trailer was killed in the incident.
The eastbound lanes remained closed Friday night while traffic was diverted to the westbound lanes so engineers could inspect the bridge for damage.
The lane closures caused extensive delays eastbound on the bridge Friday night, with traffic backed up for nearly two miles
Engineers signed off on the bridge around 1 AM Saturday when the eastbound lanes were reopened.
After the crash, responders could see the car sunk beneath the water off the side of the bridge.
If wasn’t until Saturday afternoon that the car could be lifted out of the bay by a crew operating a bridge crane.
The Maryland Transport Authority is currently conducting an investigation of the crash.
The William Preston Lane Jr. Memorial Bridge – more commonly referred to as the Bay Bridge – has long antagonized local drivers, especially those who use it to get to the Atlantic Coastal resorts in the summer.
In May, the New York Times profiled Alex Robinson who runs Kent Island Express – a business that provides drivers to ferry people across the bridge in their own cars.
Alex Robinson charges $25 each way and says he provides the service to about 5,800 people.
Many aspects of the bridge cause anxiety in drivers, from the first dogleg curve, to the steep incline over the first suspension span. The bridge then drops and propels motorists downhill over the second span. Drivers then have to maneuver through a claustrophobic cantilever that feels like a tunnel.
And that’s just on a nice day. Add bad weather – which their frequently is – and you’ll understand why Travel + Leisure rated the Chesapeake Bay Bridge the ninth scariest bridge in the world.

An M1 motorway driver has described the moment she nearly ran over George Michael as he lay covered in blood on the road after falling from his car at 70 mph.
Katherine Fox, 23, was travelling behind a silver Range Rover when George Michael tumbled out of the passenger door onto the third lane of the carriageway.
She and other drivers managed to skid to a halt just in time before dashing to help George Michael, who was conscious but in shock, she told The Sun.
George Michael’s Adidas tracksuit was ripped and his trainers and trademark designer sunglasses had been torn off, she said.
Katherine Fox added: “There was a nasty cut on his forehead and the back of his head. There was blood all down his face and on his teeth. He was lucky he didn’t die.”
George Michael, 49, fell out of the car while travelling on a four-lane stretch of the M1 near St Albans, Hertfordshire, on Thursday.
Katherine Fox said she was told he may have been trying to open and close the door because it was not shut properly.
Two friends he was travelling with pulled over onto the hard shoulder and ran across to tend to the pop star.
Meanwhile, Katherine Fox reversed her Mini to a point in the carriageway where it shielded him from oncoming traffic as an off-duty police officer helped to direct vehicles around the scene.
George Michael fell out of his car at 70 mph while travelling on a four-lane stretch of M1 motorway
Katherine Fox, a children’s nanny, told The Sun: “George didn’t say anything, he just seemed in shock. He was sitting down against a car and in the arms of his friend.
“The guy holding him was quite scared. If he’d landed in the second lane he would have been hit by a car without a doubt.”
M1 motorway was closed while George Michael was airlifted to hospital with a head injury.
The singer was initially reported that he had been well enough to be discharged later that day.
But a spokeswoman for George Michael today confirmed he remains in hospital for observations, although she insisted he was “fine”.
She said: “He’s still in hospital, but this is standard practice to keep an eye on him.
“He has a couple of bumps and grazes and cuts to the head, but he’s making good progress and looking forward to getting out.”
Police are investigating the incident.
Speaking at George Michael’s home in Highgate, North London, hours after the crash, the singer’s boyfriend Fadi Fawaz, 39, said: “He is perfectly fine. Of course I was worried, but I have spoken to him and he is good.
“He suffered a few bruises but there is nothing to worry about. I have no idea what happened, I wasn’t there.”

George Michael, 49, was recovering last night after being airlifted to hospital with a head injury following the accident.
An ambulance crew was so concerned at the singer’s condition that a helicopter was summoned, and the motorway was closed for half an hour while it landed to take George Michael away.
Although the ambulance service said he suffered a head injury, George Michael was well enough to be discharged from hospital last night.
No other vehicle was involved in the incident, which happened just before 6 p.m. near the junction with the M25.
George Michael’s spokesman Connie Filippello said: “George Michael was a passenger in a vehicle involved in a traffic accident, no third party was involved. He is being treated for superficial cuts and bruises but is fine. We have no further comment at this time.”

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said that a 49-year-old man “sustained a head injury and following treatment, stabilization and immobilization by land and air ambulance crews, he was flown to hospital for further care”.
Only 18 months ago, George Michael – real name Georgios Panayiotou – spent a month fighting for his life in an Austrian hospital after a severe bout of pneumonia. Actress Lindsay Lohan has accepted a plea deal in a misdemeanor car crash case that includes 90 days in a rehabilitation facility.
The star pleaded no contest Monday to reckless driving, lying to police and obstructing officers who were investigating the accident involving her in June last year.
A judge says Lindsay Lohan will be sentenced to 90 days in rehab, 30 days of community labor and 18 months of psychological therapy.
She was on probation when her sports car crashed on Pacific Coast Highway while on her way to a film shoot.
The deal followed over two hours of talks behind closed doors in the judge’s chambers between her legal team and prosecutors.A mandatory sentence of five days in jail will be included in her rehab stay, which she will be able to complete in her native New York.
Lindsay Lohan was also found in violation of her probation in a 2011 necklace theft and sentenced to 180 days in jail.
However, she will be able to avoid jail time if she complies with the conditions of her plea deal.
The baby delivered after his parents, Nachman and Raizy Glauber, were killed in a car crash in New York has died, a spokesman for the family’s Orthodox Jewish community has said.
Nachman and Raizy Glauber, both 21, were on their way to hospital early on Sunday when their taxi was involved in a fatal collision in Brooklyn.
Doctors performed a caesarean section to deliver the baby alive.
Orthodox Jewish community spokesman Isaac Abraham said the newborn died at 05:30 local time on Monday.
Isaac Abraham told CBS News that the couple had a baby boy, who weighed about 4 lbs (1.8 kg).
“If he would have stayed alive, he would have been in memory and a little reminder to the grandparents of his parents,” he said.
“And now that little boy has been torn away as well.”
Nachman and Raizy Glauber, both 21, were on their way to hospital early on Sunday when their taxi was involved in a fatal collision in Brooklyn
More than 1,000 people turned out to mourn the couple at a funeral at Congregation Yetev Lev D’Satmar synagogue.
The crash happened just after midnight on Sunday, a few blocks from the Glaubers’ home in the Williamsburg area of Brooklyn.
Seven-months-pregnant Raizy Glauber had not been feeling well, the family said, so the couple called a cab to take them to the hospital.
Their cab collided with a BMW car whose driver and passenger then fled the scene.
Authorities say the registered owner of the car was not believed to have been driving when the crash took place.
She has been arrested and charged with insurance fraud, the Associated Press reported.
Isaac Abraham said the crash threw Raizy Glauber from the car and pinned her husband inside the taxi, forcing emergency workers to cut off the roof to get him out.
Both were pronounced dead on arrival at hospital, but doctors were able to deliver the baby alive.
Isaac Abraham called the hit-and-run driver “a coward” who “should pay his price”, adding that their community wants a homicide prosecution.
He told the New York Daily News the baby boy would be circumcised and buried with his parents.

At least 28 fans have been injured in a multi-car crash during Daytona Nascar race in Florida.
Large pieces of debris – including a tyre – flew into the spectator stands when one of the cars hit a fence separating the track from the seats.
Race officials said 14 people had to be treated in hospital.
The accident happened on the eve of the Dayton 500 – one of the most famous Nascar events. The officials later said the main race would go ahead.
The crash happened on the last lap of the second-tier race in Daytona as the cars approached the chequered flag.
The driver in the leading car apparently tried to stop others overtaking him by moving sideways. One vehicle then hit another and flew into the fence.

Pieces of debris were thrown into the stands and smoke from burning engines clouded the area.
“It was freaky,” fan Rick Harpster told the Associated Press news agency.
“I saw a tyre fly straight over the fence into the stands. I knew it was going to be severe.”
Another eyewitness described people running and seeing a girl completely covered in engine oil.
The race was earlier stopped for about 20 minutes following a separate accident in which one driver was injured.

Lindsay Lohan appeared in court on Wednesday for a hearing relating to a lying to police and reckless driving over a car crash in June last year on Pacific Coast Highway.
Lindsay Lohan was told by Judge Stephanie Sautner that she could still be found in violation of her probation – even if a jury finds her not guilty.
Judge Stephanie Sautner set a trial date for next month, and dryly commented to Lindsay Lohan: “I’m glad to see you’re feeling better,” in reference to the actress almost not showing up on health grounds.
Lindsay Lohan, 26, confirmed that Mark Heller, her new lawyer, will represent her in the case, after cutting ties with long-time attorney Shawn Holley.
The actress hesitated when asked if she was comfortable with the change in legal representation – but agreed.
She is facing jail over claims she lied to police over a car crash in June last year on Pacific Coast Highway.
At the time Lindsay Lohan told police her assistant Gavin Doyle was driving her Porsche – but he later told police it was in fact Lindsay behind the wheel.
Lindsay Lohan, whose probation stemming from her 2011 jewellery theft case was formally revoked in December, has been told that even if jurors find her not guilty in the trial, she could still be found in violation of her probation, because the standard of proof is lower.
Essentially that means a jail term could still be on the cards.

New York lawyer Mark Heller attempted to court favor with the judge, asking her about her NYC link as a former detective in the Big Apple.
“That was in another life,” Stephanie Sautner fired back.
“Flattery does not get your anywhere in this court.”
Stephanie Sautner also revealed that she is retiring later this month – so will not be the judge in Lindsay Lohan’s trial.
“I’m retiring before the 1st March,” she said referring to Lindsay Lohan’s next hearing.
“Not that I planned it this way.”
The next hearing will be March 1, while the trial has been set for March 18.
Lindsay Lohan arrived seven minutes late for the hearing, turning up at 8:37 a.m. local time for her 8:30 a.m. hearing wearing a sleeveless black dress with keyhole detailing at the back and her hair up in a ponytail.
She looked deflated throughout proceedings as the legal teams discussed dates and scheduling.
A source previously said: “Mark believes he can get Lindsay acquitted of all criminal charges stemming from her car accident in Santa Monica last summer.
“Lindsay has convinced Mark that she never lied to cops when they asked her if she was driving the car that day.
“There was a plea bargain offer on the table for Lindsay to go to rehab for nine months, but she absolutely refused that. Mark won’t sign off on a deal that sends Lindsay to rehab for more than 60 days.”

Rapper Diddy was left lying injured on the ground on Wednesday after his SUV was crashed in a dramatic car accident.
Pictures show Diddy, real name Sean Combs, slumped on the floor as he recovered after his chauffeur-driven Cadillac Escalade collided with a Lexus RX vehicle.
Diddy’s luxury vehicle was left crushed and undriveable, and had to be towed away after the smash at the Beverly Hills hotel in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
The windscreen was smashed and the front of the car caved in. The airbags were activated and parts of the vehicle littered the ground.
Diddy, 42, was so shaken by the crash that he was seen lying down on the grass beside his vehicle.
He was accompanied by record label boss Andre Hurrell, who helped him to his feet.
A second passenger was also seen sprawled on the lawn beside the music mogul.
Despite complaining of unspecified pain Diddy refused to go in an ambulance, and told authorities he would “seek his own medical attention”, according to police.

The driver of the Lexus received unspecified injuries and was taken to a hospital.
It is believed that employees of the upmarket hotel rushed to the aid of Diddy and his fellow passenger, who were then escorted through the hotel lobby.
Officers raced to the scene and took details from the passengers, including Diddy.
According to police, Diddy’s Cadillac was going west on Sunset Boulevard when it collided with a Lexus that made a left turn in front of the sport utility vehicle, though it is unclear who was at fault for the prang.
The accident was reported about 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday Beverly Hills Police Lieutenant Lincoln Hoshino said in a statement.
Top Cuban dissident Oswaldo Paya has died in a car crash, according to fellow activists.
Oswaldo Paya, 60, was travelling near the city of Bayamo, in the eastern province of Granma, when the accident happened, they said.
He is known as the founder of the Varela Project – a campaign to gather signatures in support of a referendum on laws guaranteeing civil rights.
Oswaldo Paya was seen as a key spokesman for Cuba’s small opposition.
A Catholic church official in Bayamo told AFP that a local hospital had told him and other activists that Oswaldo Paya was dead, and had shown them identification.
His death was reported on Twitter by prominent dissident blogger Yoani Sanchez, who described him as “irreproachable” and his death as a great loss to Cuba.

The circumstances of the accident are still unclear. A usually well-informed pro-government blogger says Oswaldo Paya’s car crashed into a tree.
A state media website said there had been a “regrettable traffic accident” that killed two Cubans, while two other people, one Swiss and one Spanish, were injured.
Oswaldo Paya’s death comes after another prominent Cuban dissident, Laura Pollan, founder of the protest group Ladies in White, died last October.
In 2002, Oswaldo Paya won the Sakharov Prize – the European Union’s human rights award – for his work with the Varela Project, which was created in 1998.
In May 2002, he presented Cuba’s National Assembly with a petition of more than 10,000 signatures calling for an end to four decades of one-party rule.
He has since repeatedly delivered petitions to the body, including one in 2007 calling for an amnesty for non-violent political prisoners.
The Cuban government described him as an agent of the United States who was working to undermine the country’s revolution.
A devout Christian, Oswaldo Paya was also the founder of the Christian Liberation Movement, which campaigns for political change, civil rights and the release of political prisoners.
His influence is seen has having waned recently, with a new generation of internet-based activists, such as Yoani Sanchez, coming to the fore.
Born in 1952, Oswaldo Paya became a critic of the communist government as a teenager. In 1969, he was sent to a work camp as punishment.
Chelsea Hess, a woman from South Carolina who was left paralyzed after a car crash following a night of underage drinking two years ago is suing now the bar for not checking her ID.
Chelsea Hess, now 22, argues a barman should have asked her to show her ID when she ordered drinks at a bar in 2009.
Despite being a year under the legal age to drink, Chelsea Hess spent several hours at Jock’s Sport Grill in Bluffton, South Carolina, where she drank with friends and played billiards.
When Chelsea Hess left the premises at 1:00 a.m. and was driving home her car ran off the road.
Chelsea Hess was left paralyzed after a car crash following a night of underage drinking two years ago
Officials say Chelsea Hess, who was not wearing a seat belt, was over the legal drink drive limit.
The woman was ejected from the vehicle and hurled 20 ft suffering catastrophic injuries that left her as a paraplegic.
According to the lawsuit, Chelsea Hess claims the bartender should have asked if she was old enough to buy alcohol or if she was drunk when she was in the bar.
“The bartender failed to attempt to ascertain whether or not plaintiff was already impaired by alcohol consumption when she purchased the alcoholic beverage and made sale to plaintiff even though she was unable to legally purchase the alcoholic beverage, and notwithstanding the possibility that she was already impaired by alcohol consumption,” according to the complaint obtained by the Courthouse News Service.
Chelsea Hess has also sued the Department of Transportation and the town of Bluffton and Beaufort County claiming they had failed to properly maintain the road where she crashed.
The lawsuit says the wheels of her 2000 Mitsubishi car “suddenly dropped off into a large unmaintained area on the shoulder of Alljoj Road, which caused plaintiff to lose control of her vehicle and causing her to roll the vehicle off the side of the road”.
In its response to the lawsuit, Schubert Place LLC, operator of Jock’s Sport Grill, denied Chelsea Hess’s claims.
They said Chelsea Hess was responsible for her injuries due to her acts of “negligence, recklessness, willfulness and gross negligence”.
The South Carolina Department of Transportation also blamed Chelsea Hess, saying the accident occurred due to a number of events for which she bore responsibility, including driving while intoxicated and failing to keep her under control.
Chelsea Hess is now seeking punitive damages that could run into millions and cover the cost of her round-the-clock health care.
