At least 31 people have been killed in Xinjiang region’s capital, Urumqi, after attackers crashed two cars into shoppers at a market, Chinese media reports say.
They also threw explosives during the attack in the regional capital Urumqi. More than 90 people were injured, the state-run Xinhua news agency said.
The Ministry of Public Security called it a “violent terrorist incident”.

Xinjiang, which is home to the Muslim Uighur minority, has seen a spate of attacks in the past year.
Information about incidents in the region, where ethnic tensions between Uighurs and Han Chinese continue, is tightly controlled.
Pictures on Weibo microblogs – China’s equivalent of Twitter – appeared to show Thursday’s attack taking place at one end of a busy market street lined with vegetable stalls.
One of the two vehicles exploded.
A local shopkeeper told the Associated Press he heard “four or five explosions” and saw “three or four people lying on the ground”.
“Witnesses said two cross-country vehicles driving from north to south ploughed into people in the market at 07:50. Explosives were thrown out of the vehicles,” the Xinhua report said.
The injured were taken to several hospitals, Xinhua said.
The World Uyghur Congress said the authorities in the Chinese capital Beijing should not increase the crackdown in Xinjiang.
Russian and British diplomats are to meet and discuss comments reportedly made by Prince Charles about President Vladimir Putin.

Isidro Garcia, 41, was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of kidnapping, rape and false imprisonment.

The abuse began in 2004, the statement said, when Isidro Garcia was dating the victim’s mother and residing with her and her daughters in Santa Ana, a city in Orange County.

In August, Isidro Garcia assaulted the victim’s mother and drugged the teenager, driving her 26 miles north to Compton, Los Angeles, where she was locked in a garage, say police.
“Over the course of the following months and years, Mr. Garcia repeatedly told the victim her family had given up looking for her, and if she tried to go back to them, the family would be deported,” police said.
The two moved on several occasions to avoid police detection, and used different identities, the police statement said.
Isidro Garcia frequently physically and s**ually assaulted the victim, it is alleged, and the two of them worked together at a night cleaning service.
“Even with the opportunity to escape, after years of physical and mental abuse, the victim saw no way out of her situation and lived a life with Garcia under sustained physical and mental abuse,” police said.
At a press conference, Corporal Anthony Bertagna of the Santa Ana Police Department told reporters Isidro Garcia had “brainwashed” her.
He said that in 2007, he forced the woman into a marriage, using documents he obtained in Mexico, and in 2012 the two had a child.
Recently, she contacted her sister on Facebook and was told that her mother had indeed been trying to find her, using a Spanish language newspaper and television station.
The communication with her sister made her realize she needed to leave, said Anthony Bertagna, and on Monday she went to police to report that she was a victim of domestic abuse, and she told them she had been abducted.
The following day, police formally arrested Isidro Garcia on suspicion of kidnapping for rape, lewd acts with a minor and false imprisonment. He has not been charged.

How to Get There?
You need at least a high school diploma or a GED and on-the-job training. But, you will have an advantage if you finish a state-approved program on the principles of nursing, CPR training, and supervised work in the field.
You will find such programs in high schools, community colleges, and vo-tech schools. But, depending on the state where you live, you may be required to complete an exam to make you a Certified Nursing Assistant. That puts you on a registry with authorization to work in nursing environments.

eBay is urging users to change their passwords following a cyber-attack that compromised one of its databases.
The auction site said the database was hacked between late February and early March, and had contained encrypted passwords and other non-financial data.
eBay added that it had no evidence of there being unauthorized activity on its members’ accounts.
However, it said that changing the passwords was “best practice and will help enhance security for eBay users”.

The company has 128 million active users and accounted for $212 billion worth of commerce on its various marketplaces and other services in 2013.
A post on eBay’s corporate site said that cyber-attackers accessed the information after obtaining “a small number of employee log-in credentials”, allowing them to access its systems – something it only became aware of a fortnight ago.
“The database… included eBay customers’ name, encrypted password, email address, physical address, phone number and date of birth,” it said.
“However, the database did not contain financial information or other confidential personal information.
“Extensive forensics subsequently identified the compromised eBay database, resulting in the company’s announcement today.”
Although eBay also owns the PayPal money transfer service, it said that the division’s data was stored separately, encrypted and that there was no evidence that it had been accessed.
It added that any members who used the same login details used on eBay for other sites should also update them.
eBay has not provided any information about the kind of encryption it used.
One expert said there was still a concern that the hackers might be able to make use of their haul.

Marienne Ferguson, now 78, managed to escape to Canada along with her parents and two sisters, but other members of her family were sent to Nazi camps, according to the Daily Mail.

Christopher Chestnut, Terrence Davidson’s lawyer, said his client’s wigs “significantly contributed” to Nicki Minaj’s notoriety and helped her rise to fame.
The hair stylist stopped working for Nicki Minaj in 2013, citing creative differences.
According to legal papers, Nicki Minaj’s lawyers said Terrence Davidson was seeking to force himself into a business relationship the star and her team had developed in a bid to receive money he had not earned.

Hosni Mubarak’s two sons, Alaa and Gamal, were also convicted and given four-year terms.
The three were also fined $3 million and ordered to repay the $17.6 million they were accused of stealing.
Hosni Mubarak, 86, is also on trial for abuse of power and conspiring in the killing of protesters during the 2011 uprising that forced him to resign.

Mohamed Morsi was in turn put on trial on a variety of charges, including incitement to murder, espionage and fraud.
Despite the subsequent return to power of many of their associates, the Mubaraks were charged with embezzlement in February.
They were accused of diverting $17.6 million meant for maintenance of presidential palaces to renovate their own private residences.
They denied the charge and asserted at the trial that the prosecution’s case was “completely unsubstantiated because it never happened”.
For the verdict on Tuesday, Hosni Mubarak sat in the caged dock in a wheelchair, wearing a grey suit. His sons stood beside him in white prison clothing.
It was not clear if the three years Hosni Mubarak and his sons have spent in custody would count towards their sentences, and also if the former president would return to the military hospital or be sent to Torah prison.

Russia has been keen to find an alternative energy market for its gas as it faces the possibility of European sanctions over the crisis in Ukraine.
Shares in Gazprom rose 2% on the Russian market following the news.

The agreement is expected to deliver some 38 billion cubic meters of natural gas a year eastward to China’s burgeoning economy, starting around 2018.

Over the last ten years it has found other gas suppliers. Turkmenistan is now China’s largest foreign gas supplier, and last year it started importing piped natural gas from Myanmar.
Another sticking point has been the construction of pipelines into China.
Currently there is one complete pipeline that runs across Russia’s Far East to the Chinese border, called “The Power of Siberia”. The pipeline was started in 2007, three years after Gazprom and CNPC signed their initial agreement in 2004.
Financing the $22-30 billion cost of sending it into China has been central to the latest discussions.
China is Russia’s largest single trading partner, with bilateral trade flows of $90 billion in 2013.
China and Russia aim to double the volume to $200 billion in 10 years.

The copyright infringement action is being taken on behalf of late guitarist Randy California, who played on the same bill as Led Zeppelin in the 1960s.
Randy California’s lawyers say that he should be given a writing credit on the 1971 track.
According to Bloomberg Businessweek, the eight-minute song had earned $562 million as of 2008.
The magazine says that the song was so profitable in part because Led Zeppelin did not release it as a single, leaving fans with no option but to buy the entire album, which is untitled but known as Led Zeppelin IV.

During Phil Robertson’s bout with alcoholism, Miss Kay said she reassured the couple’s children, Alan, Jase, Willie, and Jep, that their father was at heart a good man who deserved forgiveness.
“I told my kids, <<Your dad is a good man. He has a good heart but right now the he’s letting the devil control him and that’s who we should hate – the devil and not Phil. We’ll pray and pray that the devil will leave him but he has to make the choice to do that,” Miss Kay Robertson recalled.
