Rick Perry mug shot: Texas governor shows no hint of worry on his face

Texas Governor Rick Perry has been booked at the Blackwell-Thurman Criminal Justice Center in Austin, for two felony indictments of abuse of power on August 19.

Rick Perry told dozens of cheering supporters outside the Texas courthouse that he would “fight this injustice with every fiber of my being”.

Showing no hint of worry on his face, Rick Perry flashed a thin, confident grin beneath perfect hair in his mug shot. He then headed to a nearby Austin eatery for ice cream, even gleefully documenting his excursion via Twitter.

The Republican, who is mulling a second presidential run in 2016, was indicted after carrying out a threat to veto funding for state public corruption prosecutors. He has dismissed the case a political ploy, and supporters chanting his last name and holding signs greeted him upon arriving at a Travis County Courthouse in Austin.

“I’m going to fight this injustice with every fiber of my being. And we will prevail,” Rick Perry said before walking inside the building, where he set off a metal detector but didn’t break stride, heading straight to a first-floor office to have his fingerprints taken and stand for the mug shot. In it he’s wearing a blue tie but shed the glasses that have become something of his trademark in recent months.

The longest-serving governor in Texas history was indicted last week for coercion and official oppression for publicly promising to veto $7.5 million for the state public integrity unit, which investigates wrongdoing by elected officials and is run by the Travis County district attorney’s office. Rick Perry threatened the veto if the county’s Democratic district attorney, Rosemary Lehmberg, stayed in office after a drunken driving conviction.

Rosemary Lehmberg refused to resign and Rick Perry carried out the veto, drawing an ethics complaint from a left-leaning government watchdog group.

Rick Perry was indicted by a grand jury in Austin, a liberal bastion in otherwise mostly fiercely conservative Texas.

“I’m going to enter this courthouse with my head held high knowing the actions I took were not only lawful and legal, but right,” Rick Perry told supporters before heading inside the building located just steps from the governor’s mansion.

In less than 10 minutes, Rick Perry was outside again, telling those assembled that he was confident in the rule of law.

“We don’t resolve political disputes or policy differences by indictments,” he said.

“We don’t criminalize policy disagreements. We will prevail. We will prevail.”

If convicted on both counts, Rick Perry could face a maximum 109 years in prison – though legal experts across the political spectrum have said the case against him may be a tough sell to a jury. No one disputes that Rick Perry has the right to veto any measures passed by the state Legislature, including any parts of the state budget.

However, the complaint against Rick Perry alleges that by publicly threatening a veto and trying to force Rosemary Lehmberg to resign, he coerced her. The Republican judge assigned to the case has assigned a San Antonio-based special prosecutor who insists the case is stronger than it may outwardly appear.

Rick Perry has hired a team of high-powered attorneys, who are being paid with state funds to defend him.

Top Republicans have been especially quick to defend the governor, though, since a jail video following Rosemary Lehmberg’s April 2013 arrest showed the district attorney badly slurring her words, shouting at staffers to call the sheriff, kicking the door of her cell, and sticking her tongue out. Rosemary Lehmberg’s blood alcohol level was also three times the legal limit for driving.

Rick Perry is the first Texas governor to be indicted since 1917.

Cindy Crawford pulls kids out of Malibu High School over elevated PCBs levels

Cindy Crawford’s kids missed their first day of school at Malibu High School after testing showed elevated levels of PCBs at their school and others in the county.

The 48-year-old former supermodel has two kids, Presley and Kaia, with husband Rande Gerber.

PCB (polychlorinated biphenyl) is a chemical typically found in the window caulking of older buildings that was outlawed by Congress in 1976. Over time it can cause cancer, damage the immune and reproductive system, and negatively impact brain development in children.

Cindy Crawford spoke on the Today show with special correspondent Maria Shriver about her concerns for her children on August 19.

“I don’t feel 100 percent safe,” she said during the interview.

“I look 10 years down the line, what if my kid, God forbid, had a problem? How could I live with myself if I knew that it was a possibility, and I still sent them there?”

Cindy Crawford offered to pay out of her own pocket for window caulking tests at Malibu High School, but the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) has agreed with the school district that the immediate problem has been handled through air testing.

“I am very frustrated and very disappointed at the way this has been handled,” Cindy Crawford continued.

“The problem is that they haven’t tested the source. Unless they’re testing every day, how do I know it’s safe for my kid?”

Though she has now taken her children out of school, Cindy Crawford promised to continue spearheading the fight in favor of PCB testing.

“This is not a Malibu issue,” Cindy Crawford added.

“This is really an issue in a lot of older schools. I just think the laws need to be changed.”

Rick Perry to turn himself in for fingerprints and mug shot

Rick Perry plans to turn himself in to authorities for fingerprinting and a mug shot on Tuesday, Reuters reported.

The Texas governor he was indicted by a jury in the state last week on two felony charges of abusing power, local news reports said.

Rick Perry, 64, is due to be arraigned on Friday.

The indictment has cast a shadow over Rick Perry’s possible bid for the Republican presidential nomination, with experts predicting that legal wrangling in the case is likely to stretch into the 2016 election cycle.

Rick Perry was indicted on August 15 by a grand jury in Travis County, a Democratic stronghold in the heavily Republican state, over his veto of funding for a state ethics watchdog that has investigated prominent Texas Republicans.

The governor has called the indictment politically motivated and pledged to fight the charges.

Rick Perry became the target of an ethics probe last year after he vetoed $7.5 million in funding for the state public integrity unit run from the Travis County district attorney’s office.

The veto was widely viewed as intended to force the resignation of county District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg, a Democrat, after she had pleaded guilty to drunken driving but remained in office.

Democrats have said Rick Perry may have been looking to put an ally in charge of the unit, extending what they say is cronyism in his administration.

Rick Perry faces a prison sentence of five to 99 years.

Pope Francis’ relatives killed in Argentina car crash

Three relatives of Pope Francis have been killed when their car slammed into the back of a truck on a highway in central Argentina, the Vatican’s official broadcasting service said on Tuesday.

Pope Francis’ nephew, Emanuel Bergoglio, who was driving the car was in serious condition following the accident just after midnight on Monday. Emanuel Bergoglio’s wife, 35, and two children aged 2 years and 8 months died.

“The pope has been informed and is deeply grieved by the tragic news. He asks all those who share his pain to join with him in prayer,” said a statement on the website of Radio Vaticana.

The driver of the grains truck, Raul Pombo, told local television stations he felt the impact and found Emanuel Bergoglio’s vehicle wedged under the rear of his vehicle.

“I began stopping passing cars to ask for their fire extinguishers because the car was on fire,” Raul Pombo said.

The region’s highway patrol chief, Jorge Rainieri, called the impact “powerful” and TV pictures showed the mangled wreckage of the compact car. The accident occurred in Argentina’s central Cordoba province.

Pope Francis speaks about his own death and early retirement

Pope Francis spoke about an early retirement and his own death for the first time, giving himself “two or three years”.

Talking to reporters on a flight back to the Vatican from South Korea, 77-year-old Pope Francis, who seemed in good spirits, was asked about his global popularity, which was evident again during his five-day visit.

“I see it as the generosity of the people of God. I try to think of my sins, my mistakes, not to become proud. Because I know it will last only a short time. Two or three years and then I’ll be off to the Father’s House,” the pontiff replied.

Pope Francis said he could handle the popularity “more naturally” these days, though at first it had “scared me a little”.

While the pope has not spoken publicly before about when he might meet his maker, a Vatican source said he had previously told those close to him that he thought he only had a few years left.

Pope Francis also mentioned the possibility of retiring from the Papacy, as his predecessor Benedict XVI did last year, if he felt he could no longer adequately perform his duties.

Resigning the papacy was a possibility “even if it does not appeal to some theologians”, Pope Francis told reporters.

He added that 60 years ago it was practically unheard of for Catholic bishops to retire, but nowadays it was common.

“Benedict XVI opened a door,” he said.

Pope Francis admitted that he had “some nerve problems”, which required treatment.

“Must treat them well, these nerves, give them mate [an Argentine stimulant tea] every day,” he joked.

“One of these neuroses, is that I’m too much of a homebody,” he added, recalling that the last time he’d taken a holiday outside of his native Argentina was “with the Jesuit community in 1975″.

Kate Bush requests no photos at her live concerts in London

Kate Bush has asked fans not to take photos or record footage using mobile devices at her upcoming series of live concerts in London, UK, after a 35-year hiatus.

Kate Bush, 56, said on her website: “I very much want to have contact with you as an audience, not with iPhones, iPads or cameras.”

The singer added it would mean “a great deal to me” but admitted that it was “a lot to ask”.

Kate Bush’s 22-date run of performances in London begins on August 26.

Tickets for the Before The Dawn concerts at the Hammersmith Apollo sold out within 15 minutes of going on sale in March.

Kate Bush, whose hits include Wuthering Heights and Running Up That Hill, last toured in 1979.

She played her most recent concert at the same west London venue.

Kate Bush added on her Fish People website that preparations for the new shows are “going very well indeed”.

“We’re all very excited about the upcoming shows and are working very hard in preparation,” she added.

In making her request for fans to desist from filming, Kate Bush said: “We have purposefully chosen an intimate theatre setting rather than a large venue or stadium.

“It would mean a great deal to me if you would please refrain from taking photos or filming during the shows.”

“I know it’s a lot to ask but it would allow us to all share in the experience together,” she added.

While it is common practice for concert-goers to take photos and film footage of the action, other stars have also spoken out against it.

The Who’s Roger Daltrey said he it found it “weird” that some music fans spend more time using their phones than watching the actual concert.

“Looking at life through a screen and not being in the moment totally – if you’re doing that, you’re 50% there, right?”

Russian food prices rise after state embargo on imports from Western countries

Russian food prices are rising in parts of the country and experts say the state embargo on imports of Western food appears to be making things worse.

Since the ban was imposed on August 7, imported pork used in processed meat in Moscow has gone up by 6%, Russian business daily Kommersant reports.

In St. Petersburg, food prices have risen 10%. That inflation occurred even before the impact of sanctions.

Russia’s ban on many Western foods is retaliation for sanctions over Ukraine.

The St. Petersburg government’s economic policy chief, Anatoly Kotov, said the pork price had risen by 23.5% and chicken by 25.8%.

On August 18, Russia’s PM Dmitry Medvedev said he did not expect the ban on food imports to lead to price rises or shortages in the shops. He also said he hoped the ban – introduced for a year – would not last too long.

Nina Oding, an economist at St. Petersburg’s Leontief Centre, criticized “clumsy efforts by the state somehow to regulate price formation”. She said such efforts had failed in Soviet times, when goods simply disappeared from the shelves, and in Russia in the 1990s.

“We’re heading for restricted choice, more monopolistic tendencies, prices will rise – and we’re already seeing the start of that process,” Nina Oding told Russian business website RBK.

In Russia’s far east – the Primorye region and island of Sakhalin – food prices have gone up more than in Russia’s big western cities since August 7, Kommersant reports.

A regional agriculture official, Nikolai Borisov, said cheese prices had gone up by 10% and meat by 15% on Sakhalin. They were outstripped by the cost of chicken thighs, which rose by 60%.

In Primorye the cost of apples from China has reportedly risen by a third, while some meats have risen by 26% and fish by 40%.

The Russian ban covers a wide range of foods imported from the West, though there are exemptions for some categories, notably alcoholic drinks, baby food, pet food, coffee and olive oil.

Lithuania and Poland, western neighbors of Russia, are particularly hit by the ban on imports of fresh fruit and vegetables.

EU and US sanctions are targeting top Russian officials and key economic sectors, such as energy and finance, as Western leaders accuse the Kremlin of destabilizing eastern Ukraine by supporting the pro-Russian separatists there.

Ebola outbreak: Liberia runaway patients found

Liberia’s information ministry has announced that 17 suspected Ebola patients who went missing after a Monrovia quarantine centre was attacked have been found.

The government had previously denied they were missing.

New UN figures show that 1,229 people have now died since the beginning of this year in the outbreak that has also hit Sierra Leone, Guinea and Nigeria.

The World Health Organization (WHO) says there were 84 deaths reported between August 14 and 16.

Ebola has no known cure, but the WHO has ruled that untested drugs can be used to treat patients in light of the scale of the current outbreak – the deadliest to date.

The virus is transmitted by direct contact with the body fluids of an infected person. Initial flu-like symptoms can lead to external hemorrhaging from areas such as eyes and gums, and internal bleeding which can cause organ failure.

The Liberian information minister said the missing patients were now at the newly expanded treatment unit opened over the weekend at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Medical Center in the capital, Monrovia.

He also said the health of three Liberian doctors infected with Ebola had improved after they receiving the experimental drug ZMapp.

Two US missionaries, who were flown home for treatment from Liberia, are reportedly recovering from the virus after taking doses of the same medicine.

ZMapp was also given to a 75-year-old Spanish priest who contracted Ebola in Liberia, but he died in Spain last week.

In Nigeria, which has had four fatal Ebola cases, health officials say five people have now recovered from the virus and been discharged from hospital in Lagos. Another three are still being treated.

The attack on Liberian quarantine centre, where 37 people were being held in Monrovia’s densely populated West Point township, took place on Saturday evening.

There are conflicting reports over what sparked the riot, in which medical supplies were also stolen.

Officials said the protesters were unhappy that patients were being taken there from other parts of the capital. Other reports suggested the protesters had believed Ebola was a hoax and wanted to force the centre to close.

There are also reports that the mattresses and linen being used by patients were taken during the attack.

In neighboring Sierra Leone, the agricultural minister has said the outbreak is also having a severe impact on the economy, as 66% of people were farmers and agriculture accounted for 46% of GDP and 25% of all exports.

Since the outbreak spread to Nigeria in July, when a person infected with Ebola flew from Liberia to Lagos, several airlines have stopped flights to the worst-affected countries.

Kenya’s ban on people from Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone entering the East African nation comes into force on Wednesday – and Cameroon has closed its land, sea and air borders with Nigeria.

Ferguson riot: 31 people arrested, 4 cops injured during fresh clashes

Thirty one people have been arrested in Ferguson, Missouri, during another night of angry protests.

Ferguson unrest flared hours after President Barack Obama called for calm following the fatal police shooting of unarmed black teenager Michael Brown on August 9.

Attorney General Eric Holder is due to visit Ferguson on Wednesday, August 20, to meet federal officials investigating the killing.

The National Guard has been deployed to support police operations.

Missouri Governor Jay Nixon announced the National Guard deployment on August 18, in addition to lifting a night-time curfew imposed on the weekend.

The killing of Michael Brown by a white policeman, named Darren Wilson, in a street has inflamed racial tensions in the largely black community of Ferguson.

Officer Darren Wilson shot Michael Brown on August 9 after reportedly stopping him for walking in the street.

Police Captain Ron Johnson said officers were forced to use tear gas and stun grenades on Tuesday after they came under “heavy gunfire” and were attacked with petrol bombs and bottles.

He said two people were hit by gunfire from demonstrators, insisting that officers did not use their weapons.

Ron Johnson appealed to demonstrators to protest in the daytime to prevent a “tiny minority of law breakers” from deliberately sparking violence.

“Anyone who has been at these protests understands that there is a dangerous dynamic in the night: it allows a small number of violent agitators to hide in the crowd and then attempt to create chaos,” he told journalists.

Those arrested include people from other states, including New York and California, Capt. Ron Johnson said. Correspondents say this suggests the protests are becoming more organized.

In an earlier statement, Attorney General Eric Holder said he would “personally travel” to Ferguson on Wednesday to meet FBI investigators and prosecutors.

“I realize there is tremendous interest in the facts of the incident that led to Michael Brown’s death, but I ask for the public patience as we conduct this investigation,” he said.

Eric Holder added that the investigation into the shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown was “a critical step in restoring trust between law enforcement and the community, not just in Ferguson, but beyond”.

Separately, President Barack Obama said he understood the “passions and anger” provoked by the death of the teenager.

Barack Obama also stressed that giving into anger “by looting or carrying guns and even attacking the police only serves to raise tensions and stir chaos”.

The president said he recognized that in many communities in the US a “gulf of mistrust” existed between local residents and law enforcement.

“In too many communities, too many young men of color are left behind and seen only as objects of fear,” he said.

Earlier, Dr. Michael Baden, a former New York pathologist hired by Michael Brown’s family, performed an independent post-mortem examination.

Dr. Michael Baden said he believed six bullets struck the teenager, two of which may have re-entered.

“All of the gunshot wounds could have been survivable, except the one at the top of the head,” he said.

Dr. Michael Baden said there were no signs of a struggle, as abrasions around Michael Brown’s face were likely from falling to the pavement after being shot.

He also believed Darren Wilson did not shoot him at close range as there was no gunpowder residue on his body, suggesting the officer was more than 2ft away.

Witnesses have said Michael Brown was shot as he held his hands up in a position of surrender, while the police and supporters of Darren Wilson have said he fired during a fight with the teenager.

Officer Darren Wilson has been suspended with pay since the shooting.

Michael Brown’s family has called for his arrest.

Another post-mortem on Michael Brown will be conducted by the US justice department, in addition to examinations by Dr. Michael Baden and St Louis county officials.

Jyoti Amge joins American Horror Story Season 4 cast

Jyoti Amge has joined the cast of American Horror Story in its fourth season.

Known as the world’s smallest living woman, Jyoti Amge’s height of 2’6″ (62.8 cm) was documented by the Guinness Book of World Records.

Jyoti Amge, 20, has been on television before. She was featured in a documentary called Body Shock: Two Foot High Teen, and also appeared on Bigg Boss 6, a kind of Indian Big Brother.

Her exact role hasn’t been specified but season 4 of American Horror Story focuses on a traveling carnival, so it makes sense for her to be one of the strange attractions that the carnival uses to draw people in.

Jyoti Amge is of Indian origin, born in Nagpur, and she weighs 12 pounds, only nine pounds more then she did at birth.

She has a form of dwarfism call achondroplasia, which stopped her growing after her first birthday. It has also left her with brittle bones.

That record is still held by Pauline Musters of the Netherlands, who was born 12 in at the time of birth, and was 21.5 in at 9-year-old, weighing only 3 pounds. Pauline Musters, known as Princess Pauline, died of pneumonia at the age of 19, when she was about 24 in.

There is information about Jyoti Amge of either a husband or boyfriend.

Jyoti Amge did say that she is treated like a normal woman, and enjoys doing makeup, going shopping for clothes with friends, and watching movies.

Jaycee Chan: Jackie Chan’s son arrested in Beijing on drug-related charges

Jaycee Chan, the 31-year-old son of martial arts star Jackie Chan, has been arrested on drug-related charges, Chinese state media say.

Actor Jaycee Chan and Taiwanese movie star Kai Ko, 23, were detained last Thursday, Beijing police said in a statement on their official microblog.

Police said both men tested positive for marijuana, with more than 100 grams of the drug found at Jaycee Chan’s home.

Their arrest comes amid an ongoing crackdown on drugs which has already netted several celebrity figures.

Gao Hu, 40, who appeared in the 2011 Zhang Yimou film The Flowers of War, was detained earlier this month for possession of marijuana and methamphetamines, state media said.

In June, Chinese President Xi Jinping called for “forceful measures” to tackle illegal drug use.

A government anti-drug advisor told the Associated Press news agency that Chinese celebrities were being targeted because of the “huge influence” their behavior had on “their large numbers of fans”.

Beijing Municipal Anti-Drug Office deputy director Jin Zhihai however, said that police were not specifically targeting celebrities.

“If there is an increased crackdown on drugs, the number of celebrity offenders will also rise,” he told the Beijing Times on August 14.

Last week, 42 artist management agencies in Beijing signed an agreement with police pledging not to recruit celebrities with reported drug use problems.

Jaycee Chan, whose father Jackie was named an official “Narcotics Control Ambassador” by Chinese police in 2009, had been put under “criminal detention” for the suspected crime of “providing a shelter for others to abuse drugs”, Beijing police said.

If convicted, Jaycee Chan faces a maximum prison term of three years.

Kai Ko, a Taiwanese actor and singer, won the best new actor award in 2011 at the Golden Horse film awards – known as the Oscars of the Chinese-language film industry. He also won a Chinese Film Media award for his role in the movie You Are the Apple of My Eye.

Accused of consuming drugs, Kai Ko had received a two-week detention term, his management company Star Ritz Productions said.

“I feel very regretful, very sorry to all the people who support me. I’ve been a very bad example, I’ve made a very big mistake,” Kai Ko said in an interview broadcast on Chinese state television on August 19.

Beijing police also said two other people, a 36-year-old assistant and a 33-year-old suspected dealer, were detained in the incident.

Jaycee Chan’s management company M’Stones International apologized on his behaf for the “social impact” caused and said they would “supervise his rehabilitation and help him return to the right path”.

Jackie Chan’s publicist told the Associated Press that he had travelled to Beijing to deal with his son’s arrest.

Oscar Romero: Pope Francis lifts beatification ban on Salvador’s archbishop

Pope Francis has lifted a ban the Catholic Church put on the beatification of murdered Salvadoran Archbishop Oscar Romero over his suspected Marxist ideas.

An outspoken critic of the military regime during El Salvador’s bloody civil war, Archbishop Oscar Romero was shot dead while celebrating Mass in 1980.

Beatification, or declaring a person “blessed”, is the necessary prelude to full sainthood.

Oscar Romero was one of the main proponents of Liberation Theology – an interpretation of Christian faith through the perspective of the poor.

On Monday, Pope Francis said he was hoping for a swift beatification process.

“For me Romero is a man of God,” the Pope told journalists on the plane bringing him back from a trip to South Korea.

Pope Francis has lifted a ban the Catholic Church put on the beatification of murdered Salvadoran Archbishop Oscar Romero over his suspected Marxist ideas

“There are no doctrinal problems and it is very important that [the beatification] is done quickly.”

Archbishop Oscar Romero denounced the right-wing death squads that operated in the Central American nation at the time and the oppression against the poor, calling for an end to all political violence.

Left-wing rebels fought an insurgency against the US-backed right-wing government.

Some 75,000 people were killed in the civil war, which began in 1980 and ended in 1992 with an UN-brokered peace agreement.

Archbishop Oscar Romero was killed on March 24, 1980, aged 62, after ending his sermon in the capital, San Salvador.

No-one has ever been convicted in connection with his murder.

In 2010, then President Mauricio Funes – El Salvador’s first left-wing leader since the end of the civil war – made an official apology.

“I am seeking pardon in the name of the state,” Mauricio Funes said as he unveiled a mural honoring Oscar Romero at El Salvador’s international airport.

Archbishop Oscar Romero, President Mauricio Funes said, was a victim of right-wing death squads “who unfortunately acted with the protection, collaboration or participation of state agents”.

Gaza ceasefire extended for another 24 hours to allow Cairo talks

The Gaza ceasefire has been extended by another day to allow talks in Cairo, according to an Egyptian government statement late on Monday.

The truce was extended until midnight on August 19 to allow talks on a more long-term arrangement.

A Palestinian official told Reuters there had been “no progress” so far but without a deal, violence would go on.

Officials say that 2,016 Palestinians and 66 Israelis have died since Israel began its offensive on Gaza on July 8.

In a statement that came minutes before the expiry of a previous truce at midnight on Monday, the Egyptian government released a statement confirming both sides had accepted its request for an extension.

The previous ceasefire came into effect last Wednesday.

Earlier, Israel PM Benjamin Netanyahu said Israeli forces would hit back hard if Hamas resumed rocket fire.

He said the military was “ready for all scenarios” and were prepared “for very resolute action if fire resumes”.

Negotiating teams returned to Egypt’s capital Cairo for indirect talks on Sunday.

Palestinian negotiator Qais Abdul Karim said on Sunday that Israel was seeking guarantees that Hamas and other factions in Gaza would be disarmed.

Palestinians are calling for an end to the Israeli and Egyptian blockades of Gaza without preconditions, he added.

Hamas says it will not give up its weapons, while Israel insists it must maintain some control over Gaza’s crossings to prevent the smuggling of weapons.

Israel is also concerned by the import of building materials into Gaza, saying they could be used by Hamas to rebuild its tunnel network.

Middle East envoy Robert Serry said on Monday that the UN was ready to oversee imports of construction material sent to Gaza.

Robert Serry said the imports were crucial after “the unprecedented amount of destruction” had caused an “unprecedented level of humanitarian needs”.

Approximately 16,800 housing units in Gaza had been destroyed, Robert Serry added, affecting some 100,000 Palestinians.

In addition, he said more than 100 installations belonging to the UN agency for Palestinian refugees had been damaged.

Tallulah Willis enters rehab as she struggles with body dysmorphia

Tallulah Willis entered rehab shortly after tweeting a cryptic message on July 23, People magazine reported.

While the tweet has since been deleted from the 20-year-old daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore’s page, several sources indicated to the publication that she’s seeking help.

“The situation had been building for a while,” a family insider said.

“She’s been dealing with some unhappiness, and everything sort of came to a head,” the insider added.

“I struggled a lot when I was younger,” Tallulah Willis previously said in a video posted on her fashion blog, adding that she was “diagnosed with body dysmorphia”.

During her battle with the mental illness, Tallulah Willis whittled down to 95 pounds.

“[I was] reading those stupid f—ing tabloids when I was, like, 13, feeling like I was just ugly, always,” she continued on her blog.

“I believed the strangers more than the people that loved me, because why would the people who loved me be honest?”

While her famous parents are reportedly standing by her side, sister Rumer Willis celebrated her 26th birthday with a bang.

“Best birthday cake ever,” Bruce Willis and Demi Moore’s oldest daughter wrote on Instagram on August 16 with a photo of a gun-shaped birthday cake, which her post indicated was received from her mother.

“Thank you mama for making this day so special.”

Rumer Willis also posted a funny black-and-white photo that appeared to be taken in a photo booth.

Only six years older than Tallulah and three years older than their other sister Scout, 23, Rumer Willis seems to be on the path of self-discovery and self-love despite the trials and tribulations she’s endured throughout her young life.

Robin Williams’ video sent to terminally ill fan Vivian Wallace before his death

A few months before Robin Williams committed suicide on August 11, the actor sent out a hopeful message to a terminally ill fan.

According to New Zealand’s Sunday Star-Times, an ill 21-year-old woman named Vivian Wallace caught Robin Williams’ attention earlier this year.

The New Zealand-based Vivian Wallace was diagnosed with lung, bowel, and liver cancer in January and made a five-item bucket list, which included a desire to marry her love Jack, see her daughter Sophie’s first birthday, and to meet Robin Williams before she became too sick to do so.

Vivian Wallace was unable to make it to the US to spend time with Robin Williams, but the actor connected with her by recording a video message for her.

It was recently revealed that Robin Williams was diagnosed with his own serious illness before his death, as his wife, Susan Schneider, said in a statement last week that he was in “the early stages of Parkinson’s Disease.”

“Hi Vivian, it’s Robin Williams here, saying hey girl,” the comedian says in the video.

“What’s going on down there in New Zealand? Sending all my love to you, Jack, and Sophie. Mark this off your bucket list.”

Ever the comedian, Robin Williams goes on to do his best Matthew McConaughey impression, emulating the actor’s trademark twang and saying: “I said, hey, hey, hey, what’s goin on, what’s goin on, it’s all right, it’s all right, it’s all right. I’m just channeling Matthew McConaughey.”

“Much love to you, baby,” Robin Williams finishes, blowing a kiss to Vivian Wallace.

Vivian Wallace’s husband, Jack, told the Sunday Star-Times that the video meant a lot to his struggling wife, and added that the family is “just enjoying the time we have together” and plans to “take things a day at a time”.

Khloe Kardashian doesn’t care that French Montana takes advantage of dating her

In recent interview with Billboard Magazine, rapper French Montana admitted he wanted to take advantage of the spotlight dating Khloe Kardashian brought him.

French Montana’s remarks sparked outrage among Kardashian fans after he said: “I want to capitalize on it.”

“I’ll get a fan base from everywhere. I just hope I’ll be able to connect with everything that’s going on.”

French Montana’s comments, which came a few days after Khloe Kardashian appeared in his Don’t Panic music video, caused fans to lash out, especially considering Kardashian has dealt publicly with the painful divorce from Lamar Odom on the most recent season of Keeping Up With the Kardashians.

However, Khloe Kardashian doesn’t seem offended by French Montana’s comments.

On Sunday, Khloe Kardashian tweeted: “It’s amusing to me that Y’all think I don’t see it. I was the first one to see it. I just don’t care.”

Ebola outbreak: Liberia admits West Point patients lost

Liberia has admitted that 17 suspected Ebola patients are “missing” after a quarantine unit in capital Monrovia was looted.

The government previously denied the patients are missing and tried to reassure people, saying they had been moved to another health facility.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has called for exit screenings on all travelers from affected countries.

It wants checks at airports, sea ports and major land crossings.

Several airlines have already stopped flying to Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone – the countries worst affected by the world’s most deadly outbreak of Ebola, which has no known cure.

The Ebola virus has killed 1,145 people this year, the WHO says.

Assistant Health Minister Tolbert Nyenswah said protesters in the West Point district attacked a quarantine centre on Saturday because they were unhappy that patients were being taken there from other parts of the capital, Monrovia.

Other reports suggested the protesters had believed Ebola was a hoax and wanted to force the centre to close.

Tolbert Nyenswah had said that all the suspected patients had been transferred to an Ebola treatment centre in the John F. Kennedy Memorial Medical Center in Monrovia.

However, on Monday, Liberia’s information minister said 17 of the 37 patients were unaccounted for.

He said the authorities were now trying to track them down but said he was confident they would return.

He said the attack on the quarantine centre was Liberia’s greatest setback since the Ebola outbreak began.

Blood-stained mattresses, bedding and medical equipment were taken from the centre.

The looting spree could spread the virus to the whole of the West Point area.

Lindis Hurum, from medical charity Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF), says there is an urgent need for a massive public awareness campaign in Liberia.

MSF says the Ebola outbreak has had a terrible impact on Liberia’s entire healthcare system, which it says is more or less falling apart.

Many health facilities have closed, with patients as well as medical staff, too scared to turn up for fear of catching the disease.

The Ebola epidemic began in Guinea in February and has since spread to Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria.

One Nigerian doctor has survived the disease and was sent home on Saturday night, said Health Minister Onyebuchi Chukwu in a statement.

Onyebuchi Chukwu said five other people infected with Ebola had almost fully recovered.

The death toll of 1,145 was announced on Friday after the WHO said 76 new deaths had been reported in the two days to August 13. There have been 2,127 cases reported in total.

Ukraine refugee convoy attacked by pro-Russian rebels in Luhansk

Ukraine military claims rockets and mortars hit vehicles moving refugees from the Luhansk area of eastern Ukraine killing dozens of civilians.

Ukraine has blamed pro-Russian rebels but they have denied carrying out the attack, near the village of Novosvitlivka.

A rebel news outlet reported a heavy exchange of artillery fire in the area.

Ukrainian forces have moved into the outskirts of rebel-held Luhansk where basic supplies are running out.

Military spokesman Andriy Lysenko said “militants” armed by Russia had fired at a refugee convoy with mortars and Grad rockets, on a road east of Luhansk.

He said “dozens” of civilians had died, including women and children.

“The convoy had white flags and was marked as civilian,” Andriy Lysenko said.

Another military spokesman said people had been burned alive inside their vehicles.

A spokesman for the rebel self-proclaimed “Donetsk People’s Republic”, Andrei Purgin, denied that rebel forces had attacked the convoy.

“The Ukrainians themselves have bombed the road constantly with planes and Grads. It seems they’ve now killed more civilians like they’ve been doing for months now,” he was quoted as saying.

Alexander Zakharchenko, a rebel leader in Donetsk, told journalists: “Not a single convoy of refugees was shot at in the Luhansk region.”

There has been sustained artillery shelling of Luhansk, a city of 250,000 people, where civilians are suffering chronic shortages of water, food and electricity. Before the conflict, the population was closer to 420,000.

Hundreds of civilians are fleeing the city every day as Ukrainian forces edge into Luhansk.

The key rebel-held town of Horlivka near Donetsk has been encircled, military officials say, in another sign that the separatists have lost ground in recent days.

Also on Monday, the rebel-led administration in Donetsk said they had introduced the death penalty for offences including treason, desertion and sabotage.

Eduard Yakubovsky, acting prosecutor-general of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic, said the penalty would also cover “military crimes committed… on the battlefield, such as handing over military hardware or weapons”.

Observers said the move could indicate problems within the rebels’ ranks.

More than 2,000 civilians and combatants have been killed since mid-April, when Ukraine’s government sent troops to put down the rebel uprising in the east.

Russia has said an aid convoy of some 270 lorries to a base near the Ukrainian border. The lorries are parked close to a rebel-held border post awaiting inspection as the Red Cross wants security guarantees before the aid can enter Ukraine.

Earlier Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said full agreement had been reached on the aid convoy after talks in Berlin with his counterparts from Ukraine, Germany and France.

Sergei Lavrov said no deal had been reached on achieving a ceasefire.

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said “the aim remains to bring about a ceasefire in Ukraine and to prevent future victims”.

Frank-Walter Steinmeier said the talks in Berlin had been “a difficult discussion but I believe and I hope that we made progress on some points”.

Imran Khan’s party to resign all its seats in Pakistan’s national assembly

Imran Khan’s opposition party, the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf (PTI), says it has decided to resign all its seats in Pakistan’s national assembly.

A senior member of party said they were trying to force PM Nawaz Sharif to step down.

The PTI party has 34 of the national assembly’s 342 seats, making it the second biggest opposition group.

Imran Khan has called for the prime ministers to step down, alleging vote rigging in the 2013 election that he won by a landslide.

Shah Mehmud Qureshi, a senior PTI leader, said the party would also withdraw from three out of four provincial assemblies in Pakistan.

The fourth province, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, is under PTI control and officials there will not resign, he said.

The members of parliament’s resignations must be submitted to the national assembly speaker but correspondents said this would not happen on Monday as parliament had adjourned for the day.

Imran Khan, a former captain of Pakistan’s cricket team, has been demonstrating along with thousands of his supporters in the capital Islamabad since Friday to demand fresh elections.

His rally took place at the same time as a similar demonstration by anti-government cleric Tahirul Qadri, who told crowds that the protests must continue until they bring a “peaceful revolution”.

Nawaz Sharif’s victory was the first democratic transfer of power in Pakistan, which has a long history of coups.

Critics say Tahirul Qadri has close ties to Pakistan’s armed forces.

Supporters of Imran Khan and Tahirul Qadri are angry about Pakistan’s poorly performing economy, growing militancy, and the government’s failure to deliver services such as a steady electricity supply.

However, other opposition figures have criticized the demonstrations and Imran Khan’s call for people to stop paying tax bills in protest at the government.

Former president Asif Ali Zardari, co-chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party, the largest opposition party, said such “unconstitutional means” would not help the cause.

“Democracy will not be served by calls for civil disobedience nor by a stubborn refusal by any side to engage in a meaningful dialogue on political issues,” Asif ALi Zardari said in a statement.
