Jeremy Clarkson: Trailer of Final Top Gear Appearance Released

Top Gear trailer for Jeremy Clarkson’s final appearance has been released by the BBC.

The episode will feature two films shot before Jeremy Clarkson was suspended from Top Gear and eventually sacked.

To Gear co-presenters Richard Hammond and James May return to the studio to present links from the studio, with Jeremy Clarkson noticeably absent.

No date has been given for transmission, and the broadcaster has yet to decide how Top Gear may return.

Top Gear was pulled from the schedules after Jeremy Clarkson’s suspension for attacking a producer earlier this year.

It contains two films which, in classic Top Gear style, feature cheap bangers, caravans and a race to the finish line for the three presenters to avoid a forfeit.

Earlier this week, rumors circulated that Chris Evans was being groomed to take over the Top Gear hotseat from Jeremy Clarkson, after the Radio 2 DJ revealed he was making a “Top Gear sequence”.

It later emerged that the film was part of Chris Evans one-off edition of TFI Friday, in which his friend Jeremy Clarkson will appear.

Chris Evans has ruled himself out of the Top Gear job on a number of occasions.

There has also been speculation that the show could return with a different guest host every week.

It was reported last week Richard Hammond and James May had been offered £1 million ($1.5 million) deals to stay with the BBC, although they themselves have seemed to distance themselves from returning.

Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May have been appearing together in a series of live shows, which were originally meant to be under the Top Gear banner, but have since been rebranded Clarkson, Hammond and May Live and stripped of all BBC branding.

Albert Woodfox: Angola 3 Inmate to Be Released After 43 Years in Solitary Confinement

Albert Woodfox, an inmate who has been in solitary confinement for 43 years, will be unconditionally released, a federal judge in Louisiana has ordered.

Judge James Brady also banned prosecutors from trying Albert Woodfox for a third time.

Albert Woodfox, now 68, has been in solitary confinement since April 18, 1972 after a prison riot that resulted in the death of a guard.

The inmate was tried twice for the guard’s death, but both convictions were later overturned. He denies all the charges.

A spokesman for the Louisiana attorney general said prosecutors would appeal “to make sure this murderer stays in prison and remains fully accountable for his actions”.

Albert Woodfox is one of three men who were held in solitary confinement at the maximum security Louisiana State Penitentiary and known as the Angola Three, as the prison lies next to a former slave plantation called Angola.

The other two men, Robert King and Herman Wallace, were released in 2001 and 2013 respectively. Herman Wallace died soon after his release pending a new trial. Robert King’s conviction was overturned.

Albert Woodfox and Herman Wallace were involved with the Black Panthers, a militant black rights movement formed in 1966 for self-defense against police brutality and racism, which later embraced “revolutionary” struggle as a way of achieving black liberation.

The three men consistently maintained they were imprisoned for crimes they did not commit, with convictions only obtained after blatant mistrials.

Snoop Dogg is suing Pabst Brewing, saying the beer maker owes him money from the sale of the company and its beer line in 2014.

In a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles, Snoop Dogg, real name Calvin Broadus Jr., is seeking 10% of the net sales paid to Pabst for its Colt 45 malt beer line in the sale.

Snoop Dogg had signed a three-year deal to endorse the beer line in 2011.

Under his contract, the rapper was to receive a portion of the sale of the brand if Pabst sold it before January 2016.

The sale of Pabst to beer entrepreneur Eugene Kashper and investment firm TSG Consumer Partners was finalized in November, but no purchase price was announced.

Snoop Dogg’s lawyer, Alex Weingarten, however, states in the lawsuit that the beer company was sold for $700 millio, according to AP. The sale price of the beer, called Blast by Colt 45, was not disclosed.

The rapper had a payment of $250,000 for the contract and received another $20,000 for every 10th mention he made of the beer on social media, TV or during a concert.

Pabst, the maker of beers like Old Milwaukee and Schlitz, said in a statement that it had not been contacted by Snoop Dogg or his representatives about the proceed claims.

“We are investigating the matter and would be happy to talk to Snoop or his representatives to try to get to the bottom of this,” the Associated Press quoted the statement as saying.

British bank HSBC is planning to cut 8,000 jobs in the UK as it tries to reduce costs and simplify its business.

Europe’s biggest bank has 48,000 workers in the UK and will make cuts in both its retail and investment banking operations.

A total of 25,000 jobs could be axed worldwide, meaning close to 10% of HSBC’s 266,000 workers will go.

HSBC will also ring-fence its UK operations and sell businesses in Turkey and Brazil, it said on June 9.

The news comes ahead of a presentation that HSBC CEO Stuart Gulliver will give to investors and analysts in his second major strategy plan since taking up the role in 2011.HSBC job cut 2015

In a statement, Stuart Gulliver said: “We recognize that the world has changed and we need to change with it. That is why we are outlining the following… strategic actions that will further transform our organization.”

At a news conference in Germany, President Barack Obama has revealed the US does not yet have a “complete strategy” for helping Iraq regain territory from Islamic State (ISIS).

He said the Pentagon was reviewing ways to help Iraq train and equip its forces.

However, Barack Obama said a full commitment to the process was needed by the Iraqis themselves.

The president had earlier met Iraqi PM Haider al-Abadi on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Germany.

In May the militants seized Ramadi, the capital of Anbar, Iraq’s largest province, as well as the Syrian town of Tadmur and the neighboring ancient ruins of Palmyra.

However, Barack Obama said that the 3,000 US service personnel in Iraq sometimes found themselves with “more training capacity than we’ve got recruits”.

“We don’t have, yet, a complete strategy, because it requires commitments on the part of Iraqis as well about how recruitment takes place, how that training takes place,” Barack Obama told a news conference.

“We want to get more Iraqi security forces trained, fresh, well-equipped and focused and [Haider al-] Abadi wants the same thing so we’re reviewing a range of plans for how we might do that.”

President Barack Obama said he was “absolutely confident” ISIS would be driven out of Iraq if Haider al-Abadi has the support of the international coalition as well as a government that represents all the Iraqi people.

The president said all countries in the coalition were ready to do more to help train Iraqi security forces.

Iraq has become increasingly reliant on Iranian-backed Shia militias to take on ISIS in recent months.

United Passions: FIFA Movie Takes Only $600 in Its Opening Weekend

United Passions, a vanity film about the history of soccer’s governing body FIFA, has flopped in the US, taking just $607 in its opening weekend.

The movie was funded by about $25 million of FIFA cash, and was completed before corruption charges were made against 14 of its officials at the end of last month.

Starring Tim Roth as Sepp Blatter, the hagiography of FIFA has had damning reviews.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the FilmBar cinema in Phoenix reported takings of just $9, meaning only one person bought a ticket.

The DoJ has indicted a total of 14 current and former FIFA officials and associates on charges of “rampant, systemic, and deep-rooted” corruption following a major inquiry by the FBI.

Morocco’s PM Abdelilah Benkirane has ordered an investigation into the public TV broadcast of a Jennifer Lopez concert in the country.

J. Lo’s performance at the Mawazine festival in Rabat on May 29 was aired on the 2M public TV network.

Abdelilah Benkirane said the airing was “serious delinquency”, adding it contained “disgraceful scenes”.

He added the broadcast was in violation of Morocco’s audiovisual law.

Last week, Morocco’s minister of communication was criticized for allowing the concert to air on public TV, leading to calls for him to resign.

The escape of convicted murderers Richard Matt and David Sweat from a maximum security jail in New York has been described as a “crisis situation” by Governor Andrew Cuomo.

Richard Matt, 48, and David Sweat, 34, used power tools to break out of Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora near the Canadian border.

Andrew Cuomo said: “These are dangerous men capable of committing grave crimes again.”

New York State is offering a $100,000 reward for any information leading to Richard Matt and David Sweat arrest.

The governor said the prison breakout was the first escape from the facility in 150 years.

Richard Matt and David Sweat then climbed up through a manhole into a nearby street, “disappearing into the darkness some 20 miles south of Canada”.

They placed bundles of clothing in their beds to fool guards into believing they were asleep, before making their escape during Friday night. Their absence from adjoining cells was not discovered until the following morning.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo said someone must have heard at least some of the noise.

After the prisoners were apprehended, the authorities would conduct a full review of the escape, he added.

“We’ll go through the exact details of what they did and how they did it to ensure this never happens again.”

Richard Matt was given a jail term of 25 years to life for the kidnapping and beating a man to death in 1997.

David Sweat was serving a life sentence without parole for the murder of Broome County Sheriff’s Deputy, Kevin Tarsia.

Police are trying to determine how the men acquired the tools needed to carry out the escape.

More than 200 officers are searching for Richard Matt and David Sweat, using sniffer dogs and aerial surveillance.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s ruling party AKP faces a challenge to form a new government after losing its majority at Turkey’s general election for the first time in 13 years.

AKP secured 41%, a sharp drop from 2011, and must form a coalition or face entering a minority government.

The pro-Kurdish HDP crossed the 10% threshold, securing seats in parliament for the first time.

The Turkish lira and shares dropped sharply on June 8 as markets reacted to the news.

The Turkish currency fell to near-record lows against the dollar, and shares dropped by more than 8% soon after the Istanbul stock exchange opened.

Turkey’s central bank acted quickly to prop up the lira by cutting the interest rate on foreign currency deposits.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan first came to power as prime minister in 2003 and had been seeking a two-thirds majority to turn Turkey into a presidential republic.

He said at a news conference in Istanbul “The discussion of executive presidency and dictatorship has come to an end in Turkey with these elections.”

With nearly all the votes counted, the AKP looks likely to win 258 seats in parliament, 18 fewer than it requires for a majority.

The Republican People’s Party (CHP) looks likely to be the second largest party, as in the previous parliament, polling around 25% of the vote.

In third place is the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) on 16.5%, with the People’s Democratic Party (HDP) in fourth place with 13%.

The HDP is expected to finish with 75 to 80 seats after attracting votes beyond its Kurdish support base.

Many turned out to vote in the HDP’s heartland of Diyarbakir, two days after a bombing in the eastern city killed two people and injured 200 more.

The MHP’s leader Devlet Bahceli did not rule out the possibility of entering a coalition government, but said the results represented the “beginning of the end for the AKP”.

Once viewed as invincible, Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s party has been criticized in recent years for its clampdown on free speech and its growing authoritarianism.

After the official result is declared, Ahmet Davutoglu has 45 days to form a government.

Later, G7 leaders will be joined by Iraqi PM Haider al-Abadi, Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari and Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi to discuss the threat posed by groups like Islamic State (ISIS) and Boko Haram.

On June 7, David Cameron said the UK was sending an extra 125 military trainers to Iraq to help in the battle against IS, describing the militants as “the biggest threat” G7 leaders had to address.

ISIS continues to control large swathes of Iraq and Syria despite being the target of a US-led air campaign against them.

In Nigeria, a similar regional battle is being fought against Boko Haram militants who have carried out attacks since 2009 to try to create an Islamic state.

A Bedfordshire Police spokesman said: “The passenger had been reported as being disruptive on the flight.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s ruling party AKP appears on course to lose its parliamentary majority after today’s general elections in Turkey, early projections suggest.

According to Turkish exit polls, the pro-Kurdish HDP is set to cross the 10% threshold, securing seats for the first time.

With 90% of the vote counted, the AKP had 42% of the vote, according to Turkish TV stations.

If confirmed, the result would end the AKP’s 13-year single-party rule, and upset President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s plans to boost his office’s powers.

The pro-Kurdish People’s Democratic Party (HDP) would get 11.6% – 75 seats.

An unnamed AKP official told Reuters news agency: “We expect a minority government and early election.”

Turkey’s PM Ahmet Davutoglu also said: “The people’s decision is the most correct decision.”

HDP co-chair Selahattin Demirtas complained as he voted that the election campaign “was not a fair and equal race”. Four people died in an explosion at a party rally on June 5.

Selahattin Demirtas added: “Hopefully we will wake up to a new and freer Turkey on June 8.”

Kemal Kilicdaroglu, chairman of the CHP, echoed Selahattin Demirtas and called the campaign period “unequal”. He promised however to “continue to work with a sense of responsibility”.

The result may have ramifications beyond Turkey’s borders.

Turkey is a vital NATO member in a volatile Middle East and a rare mix of Islam and democracy.

Enrique Iglesias’ spokesperson has announced that the singer’s hand injuries are worse than expected.

Enrique Iglesias, 40, sliced his fingers open when he tried to grab a drone camera, which was taking pictures of the audience, at a concert on May 30.

Following reconstructive surgery on June 1, it was announced the singer would need several weeks to recover.

A statement on Enrique Iglesias’ website said: “The damage ended up being a bit worse than initially assessed.

“He suffered a fracture that needed to be corrected in addition to the reconstructive surgery.

Enrique Iglesias was performing in Tijuana, Mexico when he reached for the drone, apparently in an attempt to give fans a point-of-view shot from the stage.

The singer was “semi-treated” at the side of the stage to stop the bleeding, and was advised to end the show.

A representative for the singer said on Instagram: “He was rushed to the airport where an ambulance met him.

“He was then put on a plane to LA… to see a specialist.”

Enrique Iglesias, one of the highest-selling Latin musicians of all time, shifting more than 137 million albums worldwide, is expected to resume his tour on July 3 in Mexico City.

South Korea’s robotics team KAIST has won the DARPA Robotics Challenge (DRC).

The DRC is a competition of robot systems and software teams vying to develop robots capable of assisting humans in responding to natural and man-made disasters.

The contest was designed to be extremely difficult.

Participating teams, representing some of the most advanced robotics research and development organizations in the world, are collaborating and innovating on a very short timeline to develop the hardware, software, sensors, and human-machine control interfaces that will enable their robots to complete a series of challenge tasks selected by DARPA for their relevance to disaster response.

The contest is a battle of robots on an obstacle course meant to simulate conditions similar to the 2011 Fukushima nuclear plant disaster.

Team KAIST’s DRC-Hubo humanoid robot defeated 22 others to win the top $2 million prize from the US Department of Defense’s DARPA research unit.

The robots had an hour to complete a series of tasks, such as a driving a car and walking up steps.

The challenge involved a series of tasks for the robots to complete, somewhat autonomously, with intermittent connectivity with their operators to simulate real disaster conditions.

The challenge was the first where robots performed without being tethered and there were plenty of hard falls, soliciting groans and laughter from the crowds at the contest.

The other tasks the robots were set included getting out of a car, opening a door, drilling a hole in a wall, turning a valve and crossing rubble either by clearing a path or walking over it.

Team KAIST was the fastest, completing all the tasks in 44 minutes and 28 seconds.

Team IHMC Robotics came second, winning $1 million, and Tartan Rescue’s Chimp robot was third, winning $500,000, a day after taking a hard fall and then wowing the crowd by getting back up and back to work without human help.

The DRC Finals also included two mystery tasks over two days – on day one the mystery was pulling a lever and on day two it was pulling a plug out of one socket and inserting it into another.

Each team was given two attempts to complete the course.

There were meant to be 25 teams competing, but Japan’s team Hydra dropped out at the last minute because of an electronics accident during training.

A Chinese team was also due to compete but reportedly couldn’t get their visas in time.

Richard Matt, 48, was given a jail term of 25 years to life for the kidnapping and beating a man to death in 1997.

The two men’s adjoining cells were found to be empty during a morning check, said Anthony Annuci, the acting state corrections commissioner.

“A search revealed that there was a hole cut out of the back of the cell through which these inmates escaped,” he added.

“They went onto a catwalk which is about six stories high. We estimate they climbed down and had power tools and were able to get out to this facility through tunnels, cutting away at several spots.”

Police are trying to determine how the men acquired the tools.
