Amber Heard has announced she will donate her $7 million divorce settlement from Johnny Depp to two charities that work with abused women and ill children.

The actress will give half to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) to prevent violence against women, and half to the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.

Amber Heard said she hoped to “help those less able to defend themselves”.

She earlier accused Johnny Depp of striking her and throwing a mobile phone during a fight. He denied the allegations.

Johnny Depp’s lawyer claimed Amber Heard had made the accusations in order to obtain a more favorable settlement.Amber Heard dogs Australia

Announcing their divorce settlement on August 16, Amber Heard and Johnny Depp said their relationship was “intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love”.

In a statement, Amber Heard, 30, said: “Money played no role for me personally and never has, except to the extent that I could donate it to charity and, in doing so, hopefully help those less able to defend themselves.

“As reported in the media, the amount received in the divorce was $7 million and $7 million is being donated. This is over and above any funds that I have given away in the past and will continue to give away in the future.”

She said the money donated to the ACLU would have a “particular focus to stop violence against women”.

The actress added: “I know these organizations will put the funds to good use and look forward to continuing to support them in the future. Hopefully, this experience results in a positive change in the lives of people who need it the most.”

Amber Heard married Johnny Depp, 53, in February 2015 and they announced their split in May 2016.

She then took out a temporary restraining order against Johnny Depp obliging him not to get in contact and stay 100 yards away from her.

Their settlement came a day before a court hearing into the restraining order was due to take place. The order was then withdrawn.

Amber Heard and Johnny Depp released a joint statement on August 16 saying: “Neither party has made false accusations for financial gain. There was never any intent of physical or emotional harm.”

Chris Brown has been told he is unlikely to be given a visa to perform in Australia because of his record of domestic violence.

The 26-year-old singer is scheduled to go on tour in Australia in December, and tickets are due to go on sale on September 28.

Chris Brown now has 28 days to appeal.

In 2009, Chris Brown pleaded guilty to assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna. He has toured Australia twice since, but the government is under pressure to refuse him this time.

Australia’s immigration department has issued a “notice of intention to consider refusal”, Immigration Minister Peter Dutton said.

Chris Brown has 28 days to present a case as to why he should be granted a visa, after which a final decision will be made.

Minister for Women Michaelia Cash, who was until recently assistant immigration minister, had urged Peter Dutton to take a stand on the issue.

“People need to understand, if you are going to commit domestic violence and you want to travel around the world, there are going to be countries that say to you, <<You cannot come in because you are not of the character that we expect in Australia>>,” Senator Michaelia Cash said.

The decision about chris Brown’s visa follows the government’s decision earlier this year to refuse a visa for world champion boxer Floyd Mayweather on similar grounds.

New Zealand has already ruled that Chris Brown is unsuitable for entry into the country.

PepsiCo has decided to withdraw Mountain Dew goat commercial over criticism that it depicts racial stereotypes and makes light of violence against women.

The online Mountain Dew ad shows a battered white woman on crutches being asked to identify a suspect out of a police line-up of black men and a goat.

One blogger described the 60-second video as “arguably the most racist commercial in history”.

PepsiCo has since apologized for the ad for its Mountain Dew soft drink.

In the video, the goat threatens to beat the woman up if she identifies him to the police.

The woman eventually screams in horror and runs away.

The dialogue in the clip is a wordplay around “Dew It” – the slogan promoting Mountain Dew.

In a statement on Wednesday, PepsiCo said that it took “full responsibility” for any offence caused by commercial.

It said it had removed the ad from its online channels.

The material was developed by African-American rapper Tyler the Creator.

Kansas City Chief Jovan Belcher was a member of a group which campaigns against violence towards women.

Jovan Belcher – who was raised by his own mother – was part of Male Athletes Against Violence and had pledged to develop deep-held beliefs against attacking females.

Among the promises he would have made is one to “look honestly at my actions in regard to violence and make changes if necessary”.

Jovan Belcher, 25, would also have taken part in the White Ribbon campaign – those taking part vow to “never to commit, condone nor remain silent about violence against women”.

The linebacker was a member of MAAV whilst studying at the University of Maine where he played football for three years until he signed with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2009.

On Saturday his past as an anti-violence campaigner apparently meant little when he shot Kasandra Perkins dead in a row when she came home from an R&B concert the night before.

His mother discovered the body as she was living in the house too and called 911.

Jovan Belcher then drove to his team’s stadium and shot himself dead in front of his coach and general manager.

He and Kasandra Perkins lived together and three months ago had a baby girl but are said to have rowed frequently.

The horrific murder suicide came one day before a Kansas home game against the Carolina Panthers which went ahead as scheduled.

Just a day after the deaths, the Chiefs would take the field against the Carolina Panthers eventually winning their second game of the season 27-21.

As friends and family try to work out what drove Jovan Belcher over the edge, it now seems that in recent years he was a champion of women’s rights.

Whilst at UMaine he was part of MAAV which describes itself as an “effort to involve men so that we can begin to understand that violence is very much a man’s issue”.

It supports the White Ribbon campaign in which male athletes wear a white ribbon as a public display of their stand against violent men.

Among the promotional posters are some with football players which have slogans like: “Join the huddle. Work together to end violence” and “Stand tough against violence”.

Jovan Belcher himself has even spoken about his respect for women which he developed because his father was never around.

In a 2008 interview he said: “My mother is a hardworking woman.

“To see her overcome some things and succeed, it makes me look at things and say, <<this isn’t even hard>>.

“I didn’t really have a father figure, so they provided nice guidance for me.”

Judging from pictures posted on Kasandra Perkins’ Facebook page, Jovan Belcher and his girlfriend had appeared to be happy and in love following the birth of their first child.

Jovan Belcher had argued with his girlfriend after she came home late from an R&B concert the night before he shot her dead then drove to his team’s stadium and committed suicide in front of his coach and general manager, it has emerged.

The 25-year-old Kansas City Chiefs linebacker fatally shot 22-year-old Kasandra Perkins early on Saturday morning, then killed himself in the presence of Chiefs staff after first thanking them for everything they had done for him, police said.

The couple lived together and three months ago had a baby together on September 11 – but a friend said they quarreled frequently, and added that they fought when Kasandra Perkins arrived home at 1 a.m. after attending a performance by Trey Songz.

Authorities did not confirm a possible motive for the murder-suicide, which stunned the team and came one day before a home game against the Carolina Panthers. The NFL said the game would go on as scheduled.

City officials in Ankang, China, have apologized to Feng Jianmei, the woman who was forced to have an abortion in the seventh month of pregnancy and suspended three people responsible, state media reports.

This came after photos showing a foetus and the mother, Feng Jianmei, shocked web users.

Feng Jianmei was made to undergo the procedure in Shaanxi province in the seventh month of pregnancy, local officials said after investigating.

Chinese law clearly prohibits abortions beyond six months.

The Ankang city government said it decided to suspend three officials in Zhenping county following initial investigations. It also urged the county government to conduct a thorough review of its family planning operations, said Xinhua news.

City officials in Ankang, China, have apologized to Feng Jianmei, the woman who was forced to have an abortion in the seventh month of pregnancy and suspended three people responsible

On Thursday night, the city officials apologized to Feng Jianmei, 27, and her family, the report said.

She was ”forced to terminate her pregnancy” at a hospital in Zhenping on 2 June, said Xinhua.

Officials in Zhenping county claimed she agreed to the abortion because she was not allowed to have a second child by law. She already has a daughter, born in 2007.

But activists said she was forced into the abortion as she could not pay the fine for having a second child.

Rights groups say China’s one-child policy has meant women being coerced into abortions, which Beijing denies.

“Feng Jianmei’s story demonstrates how the One-Child Policy continues to sanction violence against women every day,” said Chai Ling of the US-based activist group All Girls Allowed.

The group says it spoke to Feng Jianmei and her husband Deng Jiyuan after the incident.

Deng Jiyuan said his wife had been forcibly taken to hospital and restrained before the procedure.

Media reports from China say Feng Jianmei has been traumatized by what has happened.

The photos sparked outrage among Internet users.

“This is what they say the Japanese devils and Nazis did. But it’s happening in reality and it is by no means the only case… They [the officials] should be executed,” one reader on news website netease.com said, according to the AFP news agency.

A picture of a foetus whose mother Feng Jiamei was forced to have an abortion has shocked China web users.

Deng Jiyuan said his wife had been forcibly taken to hospital and restrained before the procedure.

Such allegations are nothing new in China, but what has made this one different is a widely circulated photo of the woman lying next to the baby’s corpse.

Media reports from China says Feng Jiamei has been traumatized by what has happened.

Unnamed local officials in Zhenping county – where the incident took place – denied forcing Feng Jiamei to have the abortion, local media reports say.

But a preliminary investigation by the Shaanxi Provincial Population and Family Planning Commission confirmed the forced abortion had taken place.

Without naming Feng Jiamei, it said in a statement that the woman had been seven months pregnant.

“Such practice has seriously violated the relevant policies set by national and provincial family planning commissions, which harmed the image of our family planning work, and caused extremely poor effects in society,” said the statement.

“Based on the findings, we have requested the local government to punish the relevant officers according to law,” it said.

Internet users expressed outrage.

Activist Chen Guangcheng, who was put under virtual house arrest for campaigning against forced abortions, fled China to the US last month.
