When it comes to accessories, some are more than just a fashion statement. Many accessories complete an outfit, but some are helpful for everyday life while still being stylish. Many of these accessories are multi-purpose.

When transitioning from winter to summer, wearing a light scarf as a hair tie or belt will add to the summer look, and wearing prescription glasses will block out the sun’s UV rays. Anyone can use a backpack for storage and a smartwatch to track fitness. These are just some of the many multi-purpose accessories that make life much easier and more convenient.

1. Light Scarf

Wearing a scarf doesn’t end with winter, as they are the perfect multi-purpose fashion accessory that anyone can wear during the summer. Anyone can wear a light scarf as a hair tie, a belt, a head wrap, a necktie, and even a top. The easiest way to turn a scarf into a cute summer top is by folding it into a triangle and tying it around the back, creating a crop for all summer occasions.

2. Prescription Sunglasses

Prescription sunglasses are the best accessory for anyone who needs prescription glasses but wants to spend most of the summer outside. Prescription sunglasses are incredibly functional, as they allow the wearer to see while protecting their eyes from the sun’s harmful UV rays. The best part is that anyone can buy prescription sunglasses online for added convenience. Before buying, it’s important to have a copy of the needed prescription, as some online retailers will request this. On the other hand, some retailers will offer free tools to read the person’s current prescription by analyzing their glasses.

3. Backpack

Backpacks are one of the most convenient inventions to date, especially since they come in all shapes and sizes. Wearing a backpack is one of the easiest ways to carry personal items and essentials in one place—especially for those that want to travel during summer. Backpacks are also convenient because they take the weight off your arms and don’t hurt your back, so there’s a lesser chance of injury. The convenience of a backpack ensures that the person won’t lose items, making it an enjoyable experience when traveling.

4. Smartwatch

Smartwatches are one of the most advanced pieces of technology. A smartwatch is multi-functional as it can track fitness goals, let the wearer make calls, and send texts, all while telling the time. Smartwatches also allow the wearer to sync them with their mobile device to listen to music, play games, and watch videos as conveniently as possible. Syncing the watch also lets the wearer receive notifications and social media updates.

5. Hats

Hats are another fashion accessory that offers multi-purpose use. Not only can the wearer pair them with any outfit and create a complete look with them, but they also keep the sun out of the wearer’s eyes and protect them from getting sunburnt.

Some other benefits of wearing a hat include:

  • Protecting eyes from sun brightness
  • Prevents skin cancer and sun damage
  • Protects the head, face, and ears during the colder weather
  • Helps to regulate body temperature
  • Protects hair and scalp from sun damage and color fading

6. Phone Cases

A phone case is such a convenient accessory to protect a mobile device. Phone cases come in a wide range of colors, sizes, and prints and are perfect for protecting a phone while making it look cute and accessorized. Some phone cases have pockets that can hold credit cards and licenses.

Some people even put polaroid photos in the back of clear phone cases for a more customized look. Many online retailers let people customize their very own phone case, where there’s the option to add different images, colors, and even text to make it more personable. Phone cases offer an aesthetic appeal while being durable, heat and dust resistant, tight-fitting, and anti-slip for the ultimate phone protection.

Accessories are More Than Just Fashion Statements

Accessories aren’t always about making a fashion statement. Some accessories are useful in many ways and come as multi-purpose items. People can get creative and make a scarf top or purchase prescription sunglasses for a summer holiday. There are endless options to show off your style while also remaining functional.

The ever-changing technology scene has us constantly scouring the market for the latest in smartphones and AI technology. Though we’d like to imagine ourselves as satisfied with our couple-year old gadgets, the truth is that human’s just love having the next best thing. Even though our iPhone 8s functioned without a single hitch, we still jumped at the opportunity to get our hands on the iPhone X for the sake of innovation—and that’s just how tech fans. We are excited by change and welcome it even if our wallets would rather we didn’t. 2019 is bound to be another year of innovation and excellence in technology, so we’ve compiled a list of our top tips for how to pick your tech upgrades and set yourself up for success in the coming year.

Smartwatches have been the tech upgrade watch wearers needed for quite some time now. Not only do these devices tell time, but they are capable of tracking sleeping habits, taking calls, calculating heart rates, and connecting to Wi-Fi. Wearable tech might have been a dicey idea when first proposed, but the market spoke, and consumers purchased. When you’re looking to smarten up your wrist candy, ask yourself what you want your smartwatch to do for you. The most important piece of your selection will be if your watch is compatible with your smartphone. Don’t make the mistake of purchasing an Apple watch to pair with a Samsung phone. Whether you’re a work from home mom or a busy-bee CEO, your smartwatch must be perfectly suited for your lifestyle. Do your research on individual features such as app compatibility and battery life to ensure the best purchase.

Virtual assistant

Though it seems that many people are still on the fence about voice-activated virtual assistant tech, we are all aboard. From the Amazon Echo to the Google Home Hub, these smart speakers are the hands-free solution to building a smart home. Just say the word, and your AI assistant has an answer in seconds. While ideal for telecommuters and work from home freelancers, smart speakers differ greatly when it comes to features and functionality. Look for the following when making your decision:

  • Streaming support

Major audio streaming providers like Pandora, Spotify, and Youtube are supported by most virtual assistants, but some offer more or less than others. Base your decision on your most frequently used apps, and how those apps connect with your VA.

  • Competency

It’s tough to compete with Google’s search engine sophistication, so it only makes sense that the Home is superior when it comes to pulling up accurate information from the internet.

  • Speaker quality

Since you’re able to play music from your virtual assistant speaker, it’s worth exploring which offers the best speaker quality. The Amazon Echo features an omnidirectional speaker that allows louder playback, while the Google Home Hub delivers richer bass that fills your room with a concert hall feel.

Regardless of whether you are more of a laptop lady or a desktop dame, no proper techie is fully equipped for success without the handy portability of a smart tablet. Tablets have come a long way since being mere internet browsing devices. These mini-computers are capable of complex image manipulation and high-powered coding all in one 13-inch screen. When hunting for the perfect tablet, ask yourself these questions; what operating system is most compatible with my other devices for quick syncing? How much RAM do I need? What features will I add on and what integrated ports will I need? What operating system is most compatible with my other devices for quick syncing? Keep in mind that tablets also come in the form of transformable laptops—so if you’re in need of an additional PC or just need an entirely new one, 2-in-1 PCs could be the solution you never knew you needed.

The wearable tech industry is coming into its own. The first couple generations of clunky fitness bands and glitchy smartwatches have given way to a dizzying variety of sleek, stylish wearables suited to virtually every taste and budget.

All this variety is great news for active folks who prefer their lifestyle choices to complement their style, not work against it. If you’re looking for ways to make a statement with your wearable accessories, here’s what you need to do.

  1. Build Your Athleisure Wardrobe Around Your Smartwatch

Ten years ago, “athleisure” was barely a thing. Today, it’s the apparel of choice for fashion-forward fitness enthusiasts.

The problem is, not all athleisure is created equal. If you already have a smartwatch in hand, look for form-fitting tops and leggings that complement its bulk and color scheme. Remember, your smartwatch is part of your wardrobe — even if it sometimes seems like an add-on.

  1. Choose a Medical Alert Bracelet That Complements Your Favorite Jewelry

If you wear a medical alert bracelet, why not choose one that you’re actually proud to show off? The medical alert industry is more responsive than ever to users’ aesthetic preferences; leading manufacturers are investing in sleeker, lighter, more visually appealing options as you read this.

For instance, the GreatCall Lively Mobile Medical Alert is super fashionable, with tasteful silver or gold color options that perfectly complement your everyday jewelry choices: white gold pendant, pearl necklace, wedding ring. It’s lightweight, weighing in at just 1.41 ounces. And, according to this GreatCall review, service starts as low as $19.99 per month — a bargain next to pricier systems.

  1. Hide Your Smartwatch Behind a Classic Veneer

Your smartwatch need not sport a space-age look. Some of the best smartwatches on the market, like the ASUS Zenwatch 3, sport timeless veneers with off-gold or chrome finishes — a welcome alternative to those buggy, boxy market leaders. A thorough inspection might reveal its pedigree, but at a quick glance, you’d never know it’s not a Rolex.

  1. Rock a Bangle-Style Fitness Tracker

Swap out your bracelet for a bangle-style fitness tracker that fits snugly against your wrist. Some of the top activity band brands on the market offer bangle-style options in addition to classic rubber-style bands. If your budget allows, why not opt for both — bangle for buttoned-up settings, rubber for solo workouts?

  1. Wrap Your Fitness Tracker Around Your Little Finger (Literally)

Not all fitness trackers resemble bracelets. As wearable tech has improved, key components are smaller than ever. Some wearable market leaders, like Ringly and Motiv, specialize in fitness trackers that can quite literally fit around your little finger (though they’re technically outfitted for ring and second finger sizes). If you’re curious about the wide world of miniature fitness trackers, read up on the best smart rings — and check back often, as the state of the mini-tracker art is constantly changing.

Does Your Wearable Tech Pass the Fashion Tech?

The wearable tech space is changing by the week. If none of these wearable fashion ideas tickle your fancy, don’t sweat it — tomorrow is another day.

Of course, fashionable wearables don’t exist in a vacuum. Your other fashion choices — your jewelry, clothing accessories, wardrobe, your hair and makeup — all work in concert. A few tweaks here and there can dramatically alter the final composition. Never forget that you’re in the driver’s seat here.

According to a Bloomberg report, Apple is working on an Apple Watch that does not need to be paired to an iPhone.

The new Watch will connect directly to LTE mobile networks.

Apple has begun talks with providers in the US and Europe about offering the device later this year, the report says.

Apple launched the Watch in 2015 but is yet to share any sales figures.

In a recent call to investors, Apple CEO Tim Cook said the company’s watch was the best-selling smartwatch in the world.

However, in the wider wearables market, Apple lags behind Chinese firm Xiaomi and San Francisco-based Fitbit, according to Strategy Analytics.

Apple Watch: Release date and prices range

iWatch: Apple smartwatch under development, confirms US Patent Office filing

While originally positioned as a luxury device, Apple has more recently focused on the fitness credentials of the Watch.

Untethering it from the iPhone would open up a range of new functionality – such as allowing users to download songs on the move, even if they do not have their smartphone with them.

However, there will be concern about the battery life of the device. Most of the computational heavy-lifting on the current Apple Watch is done via the paired iPhone.

According to Bloomberg’s report, the new Apple Watch’s modem will be manufactured by Intel.

The Apple Watch would come on to the market several years after Apple rivals Samsung and LG launched their own cellular-enabled smart watches. However such devices have tended to be too large to gain any kind of mainstream popularity.

Smartwatches are all the rage these days. Everyday a new one pops up with the supposed greatest features, greatest connectivity, fastest interface and on and on and on. So how do you sort through the plethora of advertisements? Do research and compare apples to apples. Like any product, not all smartwatches are created equal. The devil is in the details with these devices. Which brings us to the NO. 1 S3 Smartwatch phone. Not just a smartwatch, but a smartwatch phone. Why? Because it has no much functionality you typically find on smartphones. This makes it a lot easier to use.

NO.1 S3 Smartwatch Phone

How it works

The S3 works in a lot of ways. For starters, it isn’t limited to just working with your iOS or Android device as other brands are. It can do what the more expensive models do, but with less damage to your wallet and more connectivity options. Smartwatches are meant to sync with your phone, which the S3 invariable does. But it does this in a number of ways.

NO.1 S3 Smartwatch Phone

The watch seamlessly syncs with your phone and allows you answer calls or dial right from your wrist. On a similar note, it does allow synchronization between things like call logs, messages and even contacts. This allows for you to quickly view these items on your wrist discretely if you need to. The face where you enter commands is very durable; hard and hard to scratch to boot. It’s pretty comfortable to wear also with a trendy leather strap.

Extra Features

It boasts a litany of extra features that you’ll be hard pressed to find elsewhere. It has a pedometer if you want to monitor your steps for exercise. It can also keep track of your sleep health by monitoring sleep quality while you take your nightly snooze. The S3 will also monitor your heart rate if you want to keep track during exercise. No need to hook up a separate device; just glance at your wrist.

Aside from the health monitoring bonuses, it has interesting additions like an alarm, stop watch and remote capture. The last bit is particularly interesting. It allows you to control the phone’s camera as long as the camera is selected on the phones interface. So next time you want a family picture, you can take it yourself, right from your wrist, with the phone across the room.

All the things the S3 does sound awesome, but it’s the price that’s the kicker. The device wouldn’t be a boon to consumers without competitive pricing. Luckily it does have a shockingly reasonable price. You can get it for under $60 here and receive fast and free shipping as the icing on this techno-cake. By the way, the Apple Watch starts at $350 and about 200 of that is just for the Apple name. You can do better. Just saying.

Apple has unveiled that its Watch collection will range in price from $349 to $17,000 depending on the metals they are made from and the straps they are bought with.

The larger 1.7in models of the Watch will cost about $50 more than the 1.5in versions in the lower-priced ranges.

Apple also revealed that the devices are due to go on sale on April 24.

Competition’s smartwatches have only seen limited sales to date.

A press event held in San Francisco held few surprises about the wearable tech beyond the fact that the mid-range stainless steel edition would start at $549 and go up to $1,099 in the US.

There had been speculation that Apple would seek a bigger price gap between the model and the basic aluminum-based Sport-branded version – something that would have restricted its appeal.

Apple’s website lists a total of 38 models, which might pose a challenge to how it markets them.

The company did not announce any difference in specifications between the aluminum, steel and gold-cased versions – there had been speculation that the higher-end editions might have more storage or allow some of their parts to be upgraded at a later point.

Apple CEO Tim Cook said the Watch would typically last owners 18 hours between charges, providing a day’s worth of use.Apple Watch collection

Its website adds that the models take 2.5 hours to charge from 0% to 100%, and that the larger model has longer battery life.

Apple also reveals that a Power Reserve facility means that the Watch should continue to show the time for “up to 72 hours” after other functions are turned off.

The company said on stage that thousands of new apps had already been developed for the Watch ahead of it going on sale.

The social networks Facebook and Instagram, the car pick-up service Uber and the Chinese messaging app WeChat are among those confirmed to have developed software for the device.

Apple also highlighted that its wrist-worn device could be used to make touchless payments and receive phone calls.

Other functions demonstrated by Apple included:

  • using the Watch as a means to open a compatible hotel room lock as an alternative to a key card
  • checking the name of a song via the app Shazam
  • opening an internet-connected garage door remotely

To provide many of its functions – including GPS tracking, receiving phone calls and transmitting messages – the Watch requires its owner to have an iPhone 5 or more recent Apple handset, limiting its potential audience.

Even so, one expert believes sales will be strong – at least initially.

CCS Insight forecasts 20 million units will be sold by the end of this year – representing about 7% of the compatible iPhones currently in use.

However, other analysts range widely in their predictions, forecasting sales as low as eight million units to as high as 60 million in 2015.

For comparison’s sake, the iPad sold 14.8 million units in the first nine months after its launch, more than double Wall Street’s most optimistic estimate.

The UK, US, France, Germany, Japan, Australia and Canada are among the first wave of countries where Apple Watch will be sold.

Nissan has launched Nismo, a smartwatch that monitors the performance of the vehicle as well as the driver.

Just like a traditional smartwatch, the Nissan Nismo measures the user’s heart rate, temperature and other biometrics.

But it also allows users to keep an eye on their car’s performance – including average speeds and fuel consumption.

Experts say that the watch could be an important step towards greater connectivity in cars.

“Connectivity is the new battleground for car manufacturers,” said Chas Hallett, editor-in-chief of What Car?

“In-car internet is coming and now with consumer electronics focusing on watch-based connections, Nissan is getting ahead of the game and joining the two together very cleverly.”

The Nismo watch can be connected to the car’s on-board computer system to allow users to monitor vehicle telematics and performance data. Users can also receive tailored messages from Nissan via the gadget.

Nissan has launched Nismo, a smartwatch that monitors the performance of the vehicle as well as the driver

It was unveiled ahead of the Frankfurt Motor Show, which runs until September 22.

“Wearable technology is fast becoming the next big thing and we want to take advantage of this innovative technology,” said Gareth Dunsmore, marketing communications general manager at Nissan, Europe.

A glut of smartwatches has hit the market recently, including Samsung’s Galaxy Gear and Sony’s Smartwatch 2.

Car-connected watches could be even more useful than those offered by consumer electronic firms, thinks Chas Hallett.

“Imagine if you could heat up your car on a cold day before you got into it or shut the roof of your convertible when it started raining and it was parked outside,” he said.

The Nissan Leaf electric car already allows users to interact with it via their mobile phone and such functionality should be available in the firm’s next-generation watches.

The current gadget is one of the first products to come out of its Nismo laboratory, which captures live biometric and telematics data from Nissan racing cars and their drivers.

The lab plans to use electrocardiograms (ECG) and electroencephalograms (EEG) in the future to capture a range of heart and brainwave data.

The eventual aim would be to create wearable technology for drivers that can spot fatigue, monitor drivers’ levels of concentration and emotions and record hydration levels.

The Nismo, which comes in three colors and has a battery life of around a week, can be controlled by two buttons on the screen.

Samsung has unveiled Galaxy Gear, a smartwatch with color screen that can show alerts and can be used for voice calls and run apps.

The Galaxy Gear had been highly anticipated since the firm is currently the world’s bestselling smartphone maker and has beaten Microsoft, Apple and Google to unveil such a device.

Samsung called it a “fashion icon”.

However, analysts warned that a decision to limit the watch to working as an accessory to other Galaxy Android devices might limit its appeal.

Samsung has previously said growth in the sales of its handsets was slowing, so investors are eager to see if it can find another successful product.

The company unveiled the watch – which will go on sale from September 25 – at the IFA consumer tech show in Berlin.

“The introduction of the Galaxy smartwatch comes as no surprise to the industry, which has been expecting Samsung to beat the likes of Apple – as well as watch makers and other consumer electronics companies – to market,” said Chris Green, principal technology analyst at the consultancy Davies Murphy Group.

Samsung Galaxy Gear is being made available with a range of colorful watch straps

“Consumers might be a bit disappointed to find that the smartwatch is a partner device reliant on being paired with a Samsung Android smartphone or tablet, rather than being the completely autonomous device media and communications device many consumers were expecting and hoping for.”

The South Korean firm’s approach contrasts with that of Sony whose forthcoming Smartwatch 2 can be paired with any device running Android 4.0 or higher.

But one industry watcher said Samsung’s decision should not be a surprise.

“Samsung is trying to build its own ecosystem, so why do something that brings value to somebody else?” asked Carolina Milanesi, an analyst at tech advisors Gartner.

“Although the price of the Galaxy watch is high there’s not going to be great margins as there’s lots of technology going into it.”

The Galaxy watch will cost about $300 making it more expensive than Sony’s device which costs $185.

Start-up Omate is planning to release a watch in October that matches Samsung’s in price, but its device is set to feature a 3G chip meaning it can make calls and work as a standalone device.

Qualcomm has also unveiled Toq, a watch using the firm’s Mirasol color display technology which should mean better battery life than its rivals. It also links up to a range of Android smartphones, will go on sale next month at a suggested retail price of $300.

The Galaxy Gear features a 1.6 in (4cm) LED display, a 1.9 megapixel camera, a speaker and microphone, has four gigabytes of internal storage and a non-removable battery.

Samsung said the watch could be used as a way to make voice calls without having to take the phone it was linked to out of the owner’s bag or pocket.

Galaxy Gear comes preloaded with 10 different clock options and there will be about 70 apps available at launch including Evernote’s note-taking software, auction service eBay, the social network Path and several fitness programs.
