Washington D.C. reverberated to the sounds of partying for a second consecutive evening last night as Lady Gaga headlined the Inauguration Staff Ball, a spectacular private event for thousands of Barack Obama staffers.
Lady Gaga, who wore a jaw-dropping white Versace dress, sang The Lady Is A Tramp with renowned crooner Tony Bennett at the Washington Convention Center to the delight of those who had campaigned for Barack Obama’s re-election.
Although no media were allowed into the event, many in attendance took to social media and Instagram to share pictures.
President Barack Obama and the First Lady Michelle Obama took to the stage before Lady Gaga’s entrance to thank supporters for their hard work, saying that the thousands of guests at his staff ball represented his “deepest hopes for America”.
Tuesday’s inauguration festivities came hot on the heels of Barack Obama’s Gangnam Style dance off with singer Usher at the spectacular after-party he and wife Michelle Obama threw at the White House on Monday night after attending two glitzy events to celebrate his inauguration.
At last night’s event, the final celebration of his inauguration, Barack Obama welcomed more than 10,000 guests, including campaign employees and volunteers, inaugural workers, Democratic Party members, and White House officials, saying: “You all clean up pretty good.”
The president continued: “It makes me know that America’s future is in good hands. As long as all of you understand the immense and incredible power that you possess when you work together, when you join voices.”
He introduced Michelle Obama, who was dressed in a silver and black ensemble, and referred to her new hairstyle.
“Here’s the First Lady, bangs and all, looking very sparkly,” Barack Obama said.

First Lady Michelle Obama echoed the President’s campaign-year chant of “fired up, ready to go”. And fired up she was, dancing in her seat when her husband announced the musicians.
“It’s been a long weekend,” Barack Obama said.
“She’s getting a little silly now.”
The crowd then serenaded the President and the first lady with an impromptu rendition of “Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I’m Yours”, one of the many campaign theme songs, according to one report.
Lady Gaga sang a few of her hits including Born This Way and Edge of Glory before Tony Bennett joined her for a duet of The Lady is a Tramp, a track the odd couple first recorded together in 2011.
David Plouffe, the campaign manager for Barack Obama’s 2008 bid for the White House, and Jim Messina, the former White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, also addressed the crowds, followed by speeches of thanks from Vice President Joe Biden and his wife Jill.
Proceeds from the ball will go to a memorial fund for Alex Okrent, a campaign worker who collapsed and died at Barack Obama’s campaign headquarters in July.
“Alex was one of you,” Barack Obama said of Alex Okrent.
“This incredibly thoughtful, talented, compassionate, caring young person who decided to get involved because he thought he could make a difference. And tragically, he ended up leaving us while working on the campaign… It was heartbreaking. It reminded us of how precious our time on this earth is.”
Staffers who attended the exclusive ball were treated to a spectacular cake made to resemble the White House.
Lady Gaga tweeted a picture of the edible 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, with the comment: “The cake inside the White House party!”

Lady Gaga split her latex pants as she kicked off the North American leg of her Born This Way Ball tour in the first of two sold out shows in Vancouver, Canada.
Lady Gaga was performing new choreography for her song Heavy Metal Lover, in which she rides in on the stage transformed into a motorcycle.
Wearing a pink wig and a full leather ensemble, she then breaks away from her tires and other gear to cavort on with her dancers.
Lady Gaga has been performing the song as part of her tour for the past year, but kicked off the tour with a new set of Versace costumes.
“Tonight @ladygaga is kicking off the N. American portion of her tour w a full new set of Versace costumes for herself and her dancers too!” the fashion house tweeted on Friday night.
The latex apparently couldn’t hold up to the grueling new moves and tore along her backside.
But Lady Gaga used the wardrobe malfunction as a talking point with her fans, teasing the ripped fabric with her hands and urging her Little Monsters not to care what people say about them.
Lady Gaga has been battling critics for the past few months for a dramatic 25 pound weight gain, a move she’s embracing even in her skimpiest outfits.

Sharon Osbourne has launched an attack on Lady Gaga, accusing the singer of being desperate for attention after openly criticizing her daughter, Kelly.
Sharon Osbourne published a letter to Lady Gaga on Thursday after Kelly and Gaga traded barbs.
“I am calling you a bully because you have 32 million followers hanging on your every word and you are criticizing Kelly,” Sharon Osbourne writes, asking: “Are you so desperate that you needed to make this public?”
The controversy erupted after Kelly Osbourne made comments about Lady Gaga’s weight gain late last year.
Speaking to Alan Carr for his Channel 4 chat show, Kelly Osbourne said: “I think she is pregnant because she has been covering up this part of her body recently and I have been noticing that a lot.”
Kelly Osbourne was referring to a photo of Lady Gaga wearing a burka to a London Fashion Week event.
“And her style has changed and you can’t bleach your hair blonde when you are pregnant,” she added.
Lady Gaga’s furious “little monster” fans responded with frightening death threats, prompting Sharon Osbourne to write the singer’s manager.
In an email to Vince Hebert sent on Thursday, Sharon Osbourne reminds him that she wrote last year about Lady Gaga’s fans bullying Kelly online, and complains that he “never really responded”.
“Well, it’s continuing again. I want you to read the blog below from a Lady Gaga fan,” she continues.
Sharon Osbourne includes a tweet: “Little Monster David @LilMonsterMaren @MissKellyO LITTLE MONSTER ARTPOP : Kelly Osbourne needs to kill herself”, with a link to a vitriolic post aimed at her daughter, calling her “an ugly whore” who “deserves to be hit by a car and die of AIDS”, while asking others to fill in the blank of what they think of Kelly.
Cruel taunts flood the page.
Sharon Osbourne continues: “I thought that Gaga was a main campaigner against bullying.
“Vince, I’m leaving it in your hands to do the right thing here. One tweet from Gaga can change this whole situation. I’m not asking her to deal with this directly but she if she could tweet something to her fans about being more respectful that may end this. I’m sure she doesn’t condone her fans saying such hideously offensive things.”
Vince Hebert responds with a curt: “I’m on it.”
Next, Lady Gaga, real name Stefanie Germanotta, responds in the form of an open letter on LittleMonsters.com, addressing Kelly Osbourne and stating she wished the television star had reached out to her personally.
“As the head of the Born This Way foundation with my mother Cynthia we would like to respond,” she writes, contending that it is part of her mission in life to “work towards a kinder and braver world with our community of followers”.
Sharon Osbourne has launched an attack on Lady Gaga, accusing the singer of being desperate for attention after openly criticizing her daughter, Kelly
Lady Gaga notes Kelly Osbourne has “chosen a less compassionate path”, and criticizes her work as a correspondent on E!’s Fashion Police, calling it “rooted in criticism, judgment, and rating people’s beauty against one another”.
“Your show breeds negativity, and over the years has even become comedic in nature. It glorifies you and Joan Rivers pointing in the camera, laughing, and making jokes about artists and celebrities as if we are zoo animals,” she continues.
Referring to Kelly Osbourne’s weight loss over the years, she asks: “To see you blossoming into a beautiful slender woman who makes fun of others for a living is astounding. Why not help others? Why not defend others who are bullied for their image and share your story?”
Lady Gaga says she has met Kelly Osbourne in person, calling her “lovely”, and asks that they both do their part do their part ‘to set a standard of respect, compassion, and love’.
Sharon Osbourne responded with her own open letter on Facebook, not taking Lady Gaga’s words in kind.
“I am perplexed as to why you would go public with an open letter,” she writes, calling it “hypocritical and full of contradictions”.
“How sweet that you have empathy for my daughter, as you feel that she has taken a less passionate path in life,” she continues.
Sharon Osbourne goes on to criticize Lady Gaga’s fashion choices, stating she was “sickened” when she saw the singer’s infamous meat dress at the 2010 MTV Music Video Awards.
“When I see you wearing fur, and using it as a fashion statement, the fact that defenseless animals have been killed so you can get your picture in the press is abhorrent to me,” Sharon Osbourne writes, asking: “Shouldn’t you be teaching your “little monster” fans to respect animals and life?”
The matriarch refuses to justify Kelly Osbourne’s career choices, and slams her for making the issue public.
“By your actions to Kelly right now, you have shown me that you are nothing more than a publicly seeking hypocrite and an attention seeker. You know it would have been much more dignified of you to do this privately. I am calling you a bully because you have 32 million followers hanging on your every word and you are criticizing Kelly in your open letter. Are you so desperate that you needed to make this public?”
Sharon Osbourne continues: “In closing, stop wearing fur, stop looking for publicity, and stop using your fans to belittle not just Kelly but an endless stream of celebrities. A word from you would stop all the hideous, negative and vile threats from your <<little monsters>>. Let me know if you want to continue this debate. I’m an open playing field for you my darling. Sincerely, Sharon Osbourne.”
Lady Gaga and her mother had not issued comment at press time.

Stepping out from her New York hotel on Saturday, Lady Gaga donned a cage like headpiece that was reminiscent of the one worn by famous Hollywood cannibal Hannibal Lecter.
Lady Gaga is known for her outlandish costumes but even this one seemed to be pushing her own boundaries.
The black cage enclosed the whole of the singer’s newly blonded head and was accessorized by a golden cherub and chains.
Lady Gaga seemed sheepish at first as she walked out of the hotel but then quickly got into character and flashed a peace sign at fans and photographers.
The singer’s creative director Nicola Formichetti said this week he “regrets some of Gaga’s looks. But she works it… mostly”.
Surprising, the rest of her outfit was tame by her standards.
Lady Gaga, 26, wore a black leather jacket over a lace frilled-sleeve shirt and clack horse riding-inspired pants.

Staying true to her impossible art meets fashion form, the Mother Monster donned a pair of her favorite platform velvet lace-up boots, meaning for a slow walk to her waiting car.
Despite her ridiculous headwear, Lady Gaga managed to lean out of her car to sign an autograph for one lucky fan.
She was leaving New York temporarily to head to New Jersey where she is performing with the Rolling Stones at their 50th anniversary concert.
Lady Gaga practiced with the Rolling Stones on Friday and while what she will sing is supposed to be a secret, the Poker Face songstress let it slip that the powerful duet Gimme Shelter is the most likely.
“Gimme Shelter. It just two nights away!! 🙂 Can’t wait to sing with the Rolling Stones on Saturday Night. In 2007 I was stripping to them,” Lady Gaga tweeted on Thursday, making reference to the period she was a go-go dancer.
Lady Gaga arrived in St Petersburg on Friday for a performance and was welcomed by a mob of fans at the airport.
Wearing a classic dark suit, dark shades, red lipstick and a bouffant hairdo, Lady Gaga signed autographs and posed for pictures and even blew onlookers a kiss with her gloved hand.
“Just arrived in St. Petersburg Russia,” Lady Gaga tweeted.
“I’m so delighted to see so many monsters at the airport. Take me to the ballet!”

Lady Gaga got up close and personal to some Lions as she went on safari in South Africa.
Lady Gaga, 26, real name Stefani Germanotta, looked in her element as she became one with nature… and then tweeted about it.
She was at least dressed for the part as she pulled her best pose for the photograph.
Lady Gaga wore a typical green hat which she customized to fit her own style and pulled her long hair through the top of it.
She teamed that accessory with a leopard print silk scarf and large green earrings.
With the lions asleep on the grass behind her, Lady Gaga quietly took the snaps herself before getting back on the safari truck.

She tweeted: “SAFARI PICTURE: in this photo I’m about 10 feet from 13 lions, 2 cubs. I spent about 30 minutes w them and took a nap!”
The singer continued: “the lion pride even woke up at one point and let us come closer :)”
After proclaiming how “beautiful” the wildlife was, Lady Gaga commented on her unique choice of outfit.
She said: “& yes I cut a hole in my bush hat so my pony could stick out #SafariBarbie #Glambi my scarf was a gift from the Princess of Monaco, thanku!”

Barneys has teamed up with Disney’s animation know-how to create a highly entertaining fantasy film for its Christmas windows.
The animated short called Electric Holiday, to be shown at Barneys’ Madison Avenue store in New York, features Minnie Mouse staring longingly at a Lanvin dress, before she is transported to a fashion show with some of the fashion industry’s very real favorite characters.
Front-row favorite Sarah Jessica Parker, model Naomi Campbell, music icon Lady Gaga and Vogue‘s Anna Dello Russo are just a few faces that were given Disney’s animated treatment.
Balenciaga’s Nicolas Ghesquière, Carine Roitfeld, Cathy Horyn, Bryanboy and Lanvin’s designer Alber Elbaz also agreed to participate.
WWD called the concept, which was a year in the making, “kitschy, clever and absolutely adorable”.
Mark Lee, Barneys CEO explained: “Disney came up on a very short list of dreams – thinking about if we could do anything, what would we do?
“They represent magic and Barneys New York holiday needs to be part magic and part surprise.”
Lady Gaga appears in the animated film Electric Holiday that will be shown at Barneys Madison Avenue store in New York on November 14
Luis Fernandez, senior vice president of creative for Disney Consumer Products, added: “We thought, <<A huge force in fashion and a huge force in animation. What better than for these two companies to get together and do something for the holidays?>>”
Once on board, both teams brainstormed their dream narratives, and a wish list of fashion personalities.
WWD commented on Anna Wintour’s palpable absence, writing: “Noticeably absent is one top American editor, but otherwise Lee said cooperation was forthcoming.”
All the fashion character participants were asked to sign off on rights to their soon-to-be drawn animated selves, and once they had agreed to be included, all artist interpretation was at the discretion of Disney – no facial features, or waistlines could be redrawn.
Mark Lee said: “We were unable and unwilling to give approval.”
Few of the participants have seen the finished product, which will be unveiled on Wednesday November 14.
Barack Obama is counting on former President Bill Clinton and Bruce Springsteen, top surrogates for his campaign, to carry his message.
But he also has enlisted an army of A-list performers and public figures – from Lady Gaga to Billie Jean King, from Jay-Z to Crosby, Stills and Nash – to promote his re-election.
The Obama campaign provided a who’s-who of 181 actors, musicians, authors, athletes, mayors, Congress members, and more that fit any and all demographic groups in the president’s target zone.
All are being deployed to carry his message to television and radio in the waning days of a nip-and-tuck campaign.

Lady Gaga recently admitted to putting on 30 lbs and now she has weighed in on the body image debate.
In an interview with Stylist magazine, Lady Gaga speaks out after hitting headlines because of her weight gain and asked why people didn’t target British singer Adele.
Speaking to the magazine Lady Gaga said: “Adele is bigger than me, how come nobody says anything about it? She’s so wonderful and I think her confidence is something I have to match. She has set the bar very high for a lot of women.”
Lady Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, 26, explained how her mother had called her and asked her whether she had gained weight after pictures were published in magazines and online.
She said: “I was acutely aware of some photos on the internet – my mum called me and was like, <<Did you gain weight?>> – everybody was telling me about it, and I didn’t really care. But when I heard it was on the news, where they talk about wars, the economy crashing and the election – I just thought, <<This is f***ing ridiculous>>.”
The singer added: “I mean, what kind of example is that to a young girl sitting at home? I thought, well I don’t really care if they think I’m fat, because, quite honestly, I did gain about 30 pounds.”

Lady Gaga was talking about her Body Revolution where she asks her fans to embrace their flaws whatever their shape.
She told the magazine that her fans carry the message so she can focus on her music.
While some critics may not like her larger shape her boyfriend Taylor Kinney is a big fan of her curves.
Taylor Kinney recently revealed that Lady Gaga reminded him of his mother, in a good way.
Speaking to The Sun, Taylor Kinney said: “She works incredibly hard and is very strong and inspirational like mom, with a great work ethic.”
Lady Gaga is notorious for her love of outlandish heels so she will probably be in the front of the fashionista queue to get her hands on the latest pair of fantastical footwear.
The “front heel” Scary Beautiful shoes were designed by South African student artist Leanie van der Vyver as a critique on the fashion industry’s quest for perfection.
Dutch shoe maker René van den Berg fabricated the wacky design, which landed designer Leanie van der Vyver a nomination for the prestigious Gerrit Rietveld design prize at her university in Holland.
Leanie van der Vyver, from Cape Town, South Africa designed the pair as her graduation project at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam.
Scary Beautiful shoes were designed by South African student artist Leanie van der Vyver
“I wrote my Thesis about how humans have been playing God with their bodies, constantly searching for the ultimate perfection and I discovered that this perfection has reached a climax in the fashion and beauty industry. Heels can not get higher any higher,” she said.
“This design might seem quirky and fun, but it is firstly a critique on how the fashion and beauty industry disregards the human body in it’s constant reinvention of the <<new extreme>>. The shoes are literally an illustration of what lies beyond this aspirational perfection.
“Humans are Playing God by physically and metaphorically perfecting themselves.
“Beauty is currently at an all time climax, allowing this project to explore what lies beyond perfection.
“Scary Beautiful challenges current beauty ideals by inflicting an unexpected new beauty standard,” she said.
Leanie van der Vyver’s avant-garde design might seem extreme, but they join a growing list of the out-there designs adored by eccentric celebrities like Lady Gaga, including Noritaka Tatehana’s heel-less shoes to Alexander McQueen’s gravity-defying creations.
“This work is ambiguous, and I enjoy the mixed feelings it is provoking in people who see them. This was always my intention,” added Leanie van der Vyver.
Lady Gaga surprised fans when she vomited four times live on stage during a concert last week in Barcelona, Spain.
Lady Gaga, 26, had just begun to strut down a set of stairs on to the main stage area when her sickness kicked in.
The pop performer, who was dressed in a typically revealing outfit, halted at the top of the steps and was seen leaning over the edge with her back to the audience.
After following the recent example of Justin Bieber, by throwing up, she attempted bravely to continue with her dance routine as she began to perform of Edge Of Glory.
However, Lady Gaga was unable to carry with the routine without stopping again to vomit over the barrier behind her.
Lady Gaga had just begun to strut down a set of stairs on to the main stage area when her sickness kicked in
Ever the professional Lady Gaga valiantly did more dance moves in between throwing up even more while her male dancer tried his best to obscure the view by staying in front of her.
Lady Gaga held up her own hair as she avoided getting any mess on herself before standing erect and bouncing across the stage to entertain the audience.
It is not the first time Lady Gaga has fallen ill on stage as she was forced to halt a concert in Romania back in August to vomit off camera.
When she returned to the stage she said: “I went backstage and vomited, and I did not want you to see this… It happens to me sometimes.”
Things only got worse for the singer as some of the 25,000 strong crowd poked fun at her over her recent 25 lbs weight gain.
Lady Gaga was showered with sausages but took the jibe in her stride as she tweeted after: “SPAIN, you took the p*** outta me. Thats some hard bodied pop stuff. I’ll never forget tonight Barcelona. FOREVER.”

The high-end Manhattan restaurant owned by Lady Gaga and her family has been slammed by health officials for its filthy ways.
Joanne Trattoria on the city’s West Side scored an embarrassing “C” grade during a Department of Health inspection, the lowest possible rating.
And it wasn’t even close to the boundary – any restaurant racking up 28 or more violation points gets stamped with a “C” and Lady Gaga’s was found to have a staggering 42, six of them “critical”.
Joanne Trattoria was visited by the clean team on October 2, the report since published by the Smoking Gun.
Joseph and Cynthia Germanotta, Lady Gaga’s restaurant-running parents ought really to have seen it coming, following a string of crushing reviews including that the food is “worse than herpes”.
But perhaps they spent too much time listening to their daughter, who in September blamed recent weight gain on eating too much of their good food.
“I’m dieting right now, because I gained, like, 25 pounds,” Lady Gaga told radio host Elvis Duran.
“My father opened a restaurant. It’s so amazing… it’s so freaking delicious, but I’m telling you I gain five pounds every time I go in there.”
The Gotham eatery, which has only been in business since February, began ruffling feathers in the sanitary department shortly after opening.
The West 68th Street spot first fell foul (literally) of health standards less than one month after launching, scoring a boarder-line “C” with 31 violations.
It sharpened up its act, being up-graded and just scraping an “A” with 12 out of a possible 14 counts.
While the “C” shame was swept under the carpet, the restaurant embraced its new found “A”, posting photographs of its qualifying certificate among beaming staff on Facebook.
Now though it seems to have let standards slip once more and is back on the black-list.
With salads charged at more than $20 and steaks in excess of $38, you’d think the family-run business might be able to afford hand-wash basins in staff toilets.
“Hand washing facility not provided in or near food preparation area and toilet room,” the scathing report reads.
“Hot and cold running water at adequate pressure to enable cleanliness of employees not provided at facility. Soap and an acceptable hand-drying device not provided.”
That revelation was made more revolting still by the finding that staff was abandoning kitchen utensils in favor of their hands.
Other health crimes committed by Joanne Trattoria’s included staff wearing filthy clothing and no hair nets.
Surfaces were left unwashed, officials found, food not protected from contamination and kitchen workers abandoned utensils in favor of their hands.
Needless to say this one is unlikely to be advertised by the Lady Gaga-clan on social media.

Oprah Winfrey has been crowned the highest female earner in Hollywood by Forbes magazine, having taken home an estimated $165 million last year.
Britney Spears is next, with earnings thought to be about $58 milion.
Taylor Swift completes the top three, only just behind Britney Spears, making $57 million in the past 12 months.
According to Forbes, Oprah Winfrey is America’s only African-American billionaire and owns the television company, Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN).
She is also a television presenter and recently interviewed Rihanna about her relationship with Chris Brown.
Britney Spears did not make the Forbes list last year, possibly down to a reduction in the amount of her touring.
This year the pop star has performed 75 dates as well as earning money from various endorsements and her perfume line.
She has also taken a role on the judging line-up of The X Factor USA.
Taylor Swift’s place is partly down to her tour, which grossed more than $1 million per night and ran for more than 65 dates.
Other names on the list include television host Ellen DeGeneres and singers Rihanna and Lady Gaga.
Forbes’ highest-paid women in 2012:
1 – Oprah Winfrey, $165 million
2 – Britney Spears, $58 million
3 – Taylor Swift, $57 million
4 – Ellen DeGeneres, $53 million
5 – Rihanna, $53 million
6 – Lady Gaga, $52 million
7 – Jennifer Lopez, $52 million
8 – Gisele Bundchen, $45 million
9 – Katy Perry, $45 million
10 – Judge Judy Sheindlin, $45 million
Lady Gaga showed off a machine gun at her audience as she performed in Milan as part of her Born This Way tour on Tuesday night.
Emerging from a stone castle, Lady Gaga, 26, looked positively angelic in a flowing white gown, matching fur coat and a trademark quirky headpiece as she held a giant machine gun in her hands.
And that wasn’t the only gun reference of the evening, with Lady Gaga later showing off her curves in a black bra let with weapons strapped to the front.
As usual, Lady Gaga was out to shock with her spectacular showcase, and made sure to flash the flesh in a series of revealing outfits as she took to the stage in Italy.
In addition to her skimpy ensembles, she added a host of weird and wonderful outfits to her collection, including a giant statue of liberty headpiece.
Meanwhile, in another set, Mother Monster channeled her inner rock chick, taking to the stage in leathers on a fierce motorbike.
And once again, the carnivorous theme was back in force, with Lady Gaga taking her obsession to a new extreme by reclining back on a sofa made entirely of meat while surrounded by her troupe of dancers.
The star later ripped off her outer clothing to delight crowds with her controversial meat dress once again as giant lions hung in the background of the stage.
But it would seem being in Italy has made Lady Gaga somewhat homesick for her New York-based Italian father, Joe Germanotta.
Writing on her Twitter page, she said: “little italian girls all grown up, living the life. @germanottajoe be home soon daddy for spaghetti.”
And it wasn’t just her family the star was longing for as she continues travelling the world on her epic 113-date tour.
Lady Gaga also confessed she was missing her boyfriend, actor Taylor Kinney, whose new show Chicago Fire previewed in the US on Tuesday night.
She tweeted: “Miss T so much, so excited his show CHICAGO FIRE has their premiere 2nite. Congratulations Dick Wolf and the whole cast! Sending my love!”

Lady Gaga has come under fire for her recent 25 lbs weight gain, but it seems that she has had the last laugh.
Lady Gaga, 26, looked sensational as she displayed her curves in a red Versace dress in Milan yesterday.
The very revealing designer dress clung to Lady Gaga’s figure in the all the right places.
With her auburn hair tumbling around her shoulders and her lips and talons painted red, Lady Gaga appeared to be channeling Jessica Rabbit in her scarlet attire.
The songstress accessorized the form-fitting ensemble with some signature Versace accessories, including a large medallion belt featuring the company’s logo and a black leather bag.
Lady Gaga also wore a pair of cat-eye sunglasses and a necklace featuring a red chilli pendant.
The pop star was visiting the company’s Vice President Donatella Versace at the Versace headquarters in the fashion capital of Italy.
Donatella Versace, 57, looked thrilled to be spending time with the singer as they posed for photographs out the front of the building.
The moment was also captured by photographer-to-the-stars Terry Richardson.
The platinum blonde and perma-tanned fashionista also wore one of her own designers, slipping her tiny figure into a tight corseted leather dress.
She paired the attire with some gaudy knee-high boots featuring giant crucifixes on the front.
The designer had a heavy-handed application of make-up, including a kohl-rimmed eyes and a nude lipstick on her pout.
Joanne Trattoria, the Italian restaurant owned by the parents of Lady Gaga, has been slammed once again, this time by the New York Daily News, which called it “worse than herpes”.
But after Lady Gaga blamed her family’s Upper West Side restaurant for her recent 25 lbs weight gain, can the simple family establishment, owned by Joseph and Cynthia Germanotta, be that bad?
Lady Gaga told radio host Elvis Duran: “I’m dieting right now, because I gained, like, 25 pounds… My father opened a restaurant. It’s so amazing… it’s so freaking delicious, but I’m telling you I gain five pounds every time I go in there.”
While paying diners appear to agree with Lady Gaga since the spot opened its doors in February, it has received only scathing verdicts – the latest published on Wednesday in the New York Daily News.
After the New York Post’s surly Steve Cuozzo popped in for what he called “a 2 1/2-hour meal that seemed like as many days”, and described the interior as a “brick-walled affair of the sort considered cozy in certain Brooklyn neighborhoods, but which in these parts registers as plain cramped (and loud as an avalanche)”, it seemed the only way the restaurant could go is up.
But despite the trattoria’s celebrity connection (Lady Gaga isn’t involved in the restaurant), and the kitchen boasting Art Smith, who for years was Oprah Winfrey’s personal chef, reviews continued to take a nose dive.
Joanne Trattoria, the Italian restaurant owned by the parents of Lady Gaga, has been slammed once again
The New Yorker, which waited five months to put its own palette to the test, was similarly unimpressed.
Leo Carey, the magazine’s senior editor, described a homemade focaccia as “good in the same way that the garlic bread at Domino’s is good”.
He continued in the July write-up: “The squid in the grilled-calamari salad, though bearing the browned marks of grilling, has none of the charcoal richness you might expect – indeed, it has almost no flavor at all.”
While he throws the restaurant a bone, calling a few staples “creditable”, like the lasagna, “an overwhelming paving-stone slab of meat and ricotta with micro-greens on top”, he labels the more “ambitious dishes” as going “uniformly awry”.
“Osso buco is more or less just osso, and such bone marrow as there seems to be is oddly chewy,” he notes.
Finally, Michael Kaminer, one of two dining-out critics at the New York Daily News, called the Italian spot now frequented by Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise, “an incomprehensible imitation of a restaurant”.
“I came with an open mind, despite the fact that most of my colleagues have portrayed Joanne as the worst thing since herpes,” he admits.
Mostly taking offense at the restaurant’s fine dining prices, which lack the fine dining experience, he says: “A dry lemon chicken [$28] did have a discernible taste, but only in its zesty skin.
“The meat itself came closer to those supermarket birds in foil bags. And people: That $28 doesn’t include sides. The only adornment is a shriveled lemon segment perched atop the meat. Sauteed spinach or rosemary fingerling potatoes will set you back $9.”
Michael Kaminer calls the servers “sweet, solicitous and patient”, however, adding that “they genuinely seem to enjoy sharing the stories behind Joanne’s recipes, like the Sunday gravy Joe cooks for family”.
This goodwill is short-lived however. He continues: “[The] <<Expresso>> – yes, with an <<x>> – for $5 on Joanne’s menu… is more like concentrated Sanka, but you’ll need it to avoid choking on a tiramisu cake [$14] whose desiccated base holds gelatinous cream tasting vaguely of plastic.”
Diners appear to have formed a very different opinion however.
One local, who works in the food industry, said: “I have eaten in the restaurant and I know for a fact that the portrayal in the Daily News was inaccurate and seemed to be more about selling a sensational story than giving an unbiased restaurant review.
“What they have failed to mention is the warm, inviting atmosphere the staff happens to create for all of their customers, regular and otherwise…
“They also failed to taste the best item on the menu, the meatballs.”
Restaurant critic Gael Greene also had reservations about the pricing, however, writing for The Insatiable Critic: “Aside from the fine focaccia, a lush lasagna (too small, too pricey) and my $38 veal osso bucco, much needs to be reconsidered. Okay, the meatballs and spaghetti were fine – but $23?”
Yet rave reviews on Yelp! and Zagat praise the food, the servers’ attention to detail and the cozy atmosphere.
One Zagat reviewer wrote: “Met the owner, Cynthia, who was lovely and engaged. Food is amazing. Service is quick. Decor is very friendly. Traditional Italian fare with a twist. Comfortable ambiance. If you can get in..worth it.”
And a Yelp! visitor, possibly one the many groups of young girls chaperoned by their mothers, excitedly tweeting about Lady Gaga, commented: “Came here for lunch and this place is adorable!”
However, these seemingly misguided appraisals are scattered in between even more disturbing quips from unhappy customers.
One restaurant go-er wrote: “ATROCIOUS! An insult to Italian cooking. This place makes Olive Garden a viable option.”
While a neighborhood local said: “Okay. They are passionate. They are trying. They are re-staffing. BUT…they are just not doing it to it…yet. I’ll give them a few more tries (because I live next door…and that’s the only reason).”
Lady Gaga took to the stage in her usual array of skimpy outfits in Zurich, Switzerland, on Wednesday.
Lady Gaga, 26, who has become an advocate for curvy girls after recently gaining 25 lbs, confidently strutted around in her tour costumes, which includes a leather g-string and fishnet tights get-up.
It comes just days after Lady Gaga, who has battled bulimia and anorexia, took to social media to launch a sub-section of her site, called Body Revolution.
As well as the series of half-naked images, Lady Gaga wrote: “Today I join the BODY REVOLUTION. To Inspire Bravery. And BREED some m$therf**king COMPASSION.”
The page continues: “My mother and I created the BORN THIS WAY FOUNDATION for one reason: <<to inspire bravery>>.
“This profile is an extension of that dream. Be brave and celebrate with us your <<perceived flaws>>, as society tells us. May we make our flaws famous, and thus redefine the heinous.”

Lady Gaga recently said she’s happier than ever with her body, especially because partner Taylor Kinney is a huge fan of her new fuller figure.
Writing on her blog, she said: “My boyfriend prefers me curvier.
“When I eat and am healthy and not so worried about my looks. I’m happy. Happier then I’ve ever been. I am not going to go on a psycho-spree because of scrutiny. This is who I am. And I am proud at any size.”
Lady Gaga also thanked her fans for supporting her during her struggles and giving her the self-confidence she has always needed.
She wrote: “My weight/loss/gain since I was a child has tormented me. No amount of help has ever healed my pain about it. But you have.”
Lady Gaga recently revealed the reason behind her weight increase was down to her father’s restaurant in New York.
She said: “I love eating pasta and I’m a New York Italian girl. That’s why I have been staying out of New York.
“My father opened a restaurant. It’s so amazing … it’s so freaking delicious, but I’m telling you I gain five pounds every time I go there.
“So my dad wants me to eat at the restaurant, and I’m like, <<I’ve got to go where I can drink green juice>>. “

Lady Gaga has come under scrutiny recently after appearing to balloon in weight compared to her usual slender self.
But now Lady Gaga has found one effective way to hit back at her critics – by posing in just her underwear to completely flaunt her physique.
The Poker Face hitmaker posted up four separate shocking images on her LittleMonsters.com blog on Tuesday.
And she even admitted in one caption that she has been struggling from eating disorders since childhood, while also opening up to her fans about her weight.

In an open and personal response to recent attacks on her fluctuating figure, Lady Gaga has posted pictures of herself wearing just a bra and underpants on her social networking site with a caption that reads: “Bulimia and anorexia since I was 15.”
The 26-year-old pop superstar wrote: “My boyfriend prefers me curvier. When I eat I am healthy and not so worried about my looks, I’m happy. Happier than I’ve ever been.
“I am not going to go on a psycho-spree because of scrutiny. This is who I am. And I am proud at any size.”
Lady Gaga’s public response comes after a series of unflattering photographs made the singer look much curvier than usual while performing on her tour this week, with claims that she had “piled on the pounds”.

Seemingly appalled, the recovering bulimic, who has admitted to gaining nearly 25 lbs, took to social media to launch a sub-section of her site, called Body Revolution.
As well as the series of half-naked images, Lady Gaga wrote: “But today I join the BODY REVOLUTION. To Inspire Bravery. And BREED some m$therf**king COMPASSION.”

She also wrote: “Hey Guys its Gaga… Now that the body revolution has begun, be brave and post a photo of you that celebrates your triumph over insecurities.”
And she clearly seemed confident in the candid shots which she shared with her Little Monster fans.
Lady Gaga can be seen stretching while revealing her body art in all its glory while wearing just a citrus colored bra and matching thong.
In one picture she even shows off her derriere, while she also gives a side profile showing her looking slimmer than she did on stage last week.
She also took to the site to thank her fans for helping her over the scrutiny of her weight.
She added: “My weight loss/gain since I was a child has tormented me. No amount of help has ever healed my pain about it. But YOU have.”
Lady Gaga has always caused controversy with her outfits ever since catapulting to fame, and no one thought she could out-do herself following her infamous meat dress get-up.
But it seems that even Lady Gaga has outdone herself with her latest outlandish ensemble.
Only Lady Gaga would consider walking through the streets of Paris in what can only be described as a pink and blue blancmange-style dress.
The singer made her way to her concert in the French capital on Saturday evening in the bizarre frock which seemed to have been made out of felt like a puppet outfit.

Lady Gaga drew even more looks than she usually does as the singer, and the large suit, made its way to the gig venue.
But it wasn’t only the vibrant colored suit which stood out, thanks to Lady Gaga’s odd shades and electric blue patent platform boots.
For once her hair seemed fairly plain in its brunette color worn down to her shoulders, while her make-up also looked relatively simple.
But she hardly required anything further to draw attention to herself as she calmly walked out of the Park Hyatt Vendome Hotel in the city.
And her waiting fans went so mad for her she even reportedly caused a crush as she made her getaway ready to perform for the Little Monster fans.
Lady Gaga revealed her 25 lb weight gain during a radio interview this week.
And the singer kept her fuller frame covered up in a leopard-print dress while arriving at her Paris hotel on Friday night.
Lady Gaga, 26, hid her new curves under the dramatic zip-up dress with wide peplum hips, which she wore with Victorian-style black platform booties.
Mother Monster was clearly more interested in showing off her new cherub tattoo on the back of her partially shaved head – inked in honor of photographer Terry Richardson’s deceased mother – by pulling her reddish brown hair and wig into an elaborate top-knot towards her crown.
Not in France tonight was Lady Gaga’s on/off boyfriend Vampire Diaries star Taylor Kinney, who will next be seen in Kathryn Bigelow’s Zero Dark Thirty.

Earlier this week Lady Gaga told radio host Elvis Duran that she is “dieting now” after eating too much “pizza and pasta” on the road for her Born This Way tour.
“I really don’t feel bad about it, not even for a second,” Lady Gaga said.
“I have to be on such a strict diet constantly. It’s hard because it’s a quite vigorous show, so I tend to bulk up, get muscular, and I really don’t like that. So I’m trying to find a new balance.”
Lady Gaga also said she picked up her carb-loving eating habits from her dad Joe Germanotta, who owns Joanne Trattoria, a New York restaurant.
“It’s so freaking delicious, but I’m telling you I gain five pounds every time I go in there. So my dad wants me to eat at the restaurant, and I’m, like, I’ve got to go where I can drink green juice.”
But it wasn’t the star’s figure that was grabbing people’s attention as she took to the stage in Amsterdam on Tuesday night.
Lady Gaga was seen mid-show lighting a big joint of marijuana and inhaling it during a break.
Praising the “wondrous” drug, the singer told fans she had cut down on drinking alcohol because she prefers smoking the substance.
Lady Gaga was quoted as telling The Sun newspaper: “I want you to know it has totally changed my life and I’ve really cut down on drinking.
“It has been a totally spiritual experience for me with my music. It’s like saying everybody needs to take a breath and it’s going to be OK.”
Lady Gaga has been open about how hard she usually works to maintain her trim physique, and caused controversy earlier this year by revealing her diet habits.
Writing on her Twitter page, she said: “Just killed back to back spin classes. Eating a salad dreaming of a cheeseburger #PopSingersDontEat #IWasBornThisWay.”
The tweet angered many of her 29 million Twitter followers.
The five-time Grammy winner, who’s admitted to having eating disorders as a teenager, is set to make her debut film appearance in Robert Rodriguez’s upcoming movie Machete Kills.
Lady Gaga has been showing off a more curvaceous figure lately during her Born This Way tour.
And Lady Gaga has now said that there is a very simple explanation for her newly fuller figure – her father’s delicious food.
The 26-year-old singer’s dad Joe Germanotta owns a New York restaurant, and his superstar daughter says that after gaining 25lbs, she will be steering clear of the eatery.
Lady Gaga has been looking sexy since putting on some pounds but admits while she doesn’t feel “bad” about her new shape, she wants to be more conscious of what she is eating.

The star made headlines after she revealed her new look after taking to the stage on Tuesday night in Amsterdam.
Lady Gaga said she gained 25 lbs after nutritionist Majid Ali, who has not treated the singer, told RadarOnline: “Gaga appears to have gained at least 30 pounds.”
But it wasn’t Lady Gaga’s figure that was grabbing people’s attention as she took to the stage in the Dutch capital.

Writing on her Twitter page, she said: “Just killed back to back spin classes. Eating a salad dreaming of a cheeseburger #PopSingersDontEat #IWasBornThisWay.”
However, Lady Gaga has previously talked about how she can’t resist hearty Italian food.
She said: “The rumors I am a dab hand in the kitchen are completely true.
“I come from an Italian family – what more can I say? I love to cook. I am really good at Italian food. So I make great meatballs, pasta and all sorts. I love it.”
Lady Gaga has never been one to hide away her body, but after piling on 30 lbs it seems she is reassessing her wardrobe.
Lady Gaga, 26, covered up her new curves in a long sleeved white coat as she left her hotel in Amsterdam on Wednesday night.
The star teamed it with sky-high heels and dark sunglasses with her head wrapped in a white scarf.
She signed autographs and handed out perfume samples to her fans, who had waited for hours to meet her.
The outfit was positively demure for Lady Gaga. But perhaps she had seen photos of herself the previous night.
Then the 5 ft 1 star had strutted on stage in Amsterdam in a series of typically skimpy costumes.
But rather than revealing her toned body, this time they showed bulging hips and thighs, cascading tummy and double chin.
Nutritionist Majid Ali, who has not treated the singer, told RadarOnline: “Gaga appears to have gained at least 30 pounds.”
Lady Gaga is on the European leg of her Born This Way tour, but the obvious weight gain seems to be dragging her down.
This is a far cry from what Lady Gaga looked like just a few months ago, when her muscular legs and toned, six-pack abdomen held spectators in awe.

Lady Gaga also admits she loves food, especially Italian cuisine, and can’t get enough of it.

Despite her weight gain Lady Gaga was polite to her fans, who had waited for hours to meet her.
Lady Gaga handed out samples of her new perfume, Fame, and signed autographs.
Lady Gaga has been sporting a much fuller figure of late, but she looked decidedly meaty as she took to the stage on Tuesday night in Amsterdam, Holland.
Wearing her cherished carnivorous corset, Lady Gaga, 26, flaunted her new curves for all to see as she hit the Netherlands for the latest stop on her Born This Way tour.
Looking much bigger than usual around her thigh and hip region, Mother Monster was also sporting a fuller face as she belted out her biggest hits.
And as the Alejandro hitmaker later changed into a pair of high-waisted khaki trousers and a black bralet, her weight gain around her waist was clear to see.

Lady Gaga’s debut fragrance Fame, which contains notes of blood and semen, has become the number one best-selling women’s fragrance at Superdrug, in UK, just a week after hitting the shelves.
Advanced fragrance technology means that the dramatic looking black liquid turns clear as soon as it is sprayed in to the air, and the bottle is pure Lady Gaga: black and gold featuring gilded monster claws.
This unique perfume concept has translated in to ringing tills for team Lady Gaga, the £23.99 ($37.5) perfume has already sold more than both Beyonce and Madonna’s fragrances did in their first week of launch.

Sara Wolverson, Superdrug beauty director said: “Lady Gaga is a true original and she has brought something completely new to the fragrance market.
“While initial reports promised slightly scary fragrance notes the actual perfume is sophisticated, floral, addictive, moreish and sexy which paired with the black liquid and dramatic styling is truly original.
“We knew Lady Gaga would be popular but have been astounded by the rush to be the first to buy the fragrance.”
In her perfume campaign, Lady Gaga is seen reclining with an arm behind her head, while holding the perfume in her other hand.
Scantily clad men – who have been shrunk to miniature size – are strategically placed over her body to save her blushes.
Renato Semerari, president of Coty Beauty, said: “She is an artist that is never satisfied with the status quo – she always has this way of challenging everybody and trying to do something more, something different.”

Lady Gaga first caused a stir when she wore a dress made entirely of meat to the MTV Video Music Awards in 2010.
Lady Gaga, 26, has raised the steaks once again by stepping out in a carnivorous creation as she performed in Bucharest, Romania, last night.
Taking to the stage in Piata Constitutiei Square, the singer showed off her voluptuous figure in a skimpy thong style corset, which appeared to be fashioned out of meat.
With matching ankle boots and fishnet tights completing the look, the Born This Way hitmaker showcased a more curvaceous figure than usual as she performed in front of 35,000 fans.
But the food-based fashion item wasn’t the only unusual look the star went for, with Lady Gaga also opting for a bizarre white ram’s head hat and matching futuristic dress at one stage during the gig, before changing into a black gothic-inspired creation.

However, it might have been that her choice of outfit made the New Yorker feel somewhat nauseous
According to onlookers, halfway through the performance, Lady Gaga had to leave the stage to vomit.
Lady Gaga told the crowd: “I went backstage and vomited, and I did not want you to see this… It happens to me sometimes.”
Despite her health ailment, Lady Gaga continued with the show, and at one stage even dragged a delighted young fan and his mother up on to the stage.
The star first wore a meat dress to the MTV Video Music Awards in 2010, before going on to pose in a beefy bikini on the cover of Vogue Hommes Japan.
And despite coming under fire from vegetarian campaigners for her controversial choice of clothing, the star explained her ensemble was aimed to make a statement about human rights.
Lady Gaga told Ellen DeGeneres in an interview: “Well, it is certainly no disrespect to anyone that is vegan or vegetarian.
“As you know, I am the most judgment-free human being on the earth. However, it has many interpretations but for me this evening.
“If we don’t stand up for what we believe in and if we don’t fight for our rights, pretty soon we’re going to have as much rights as the meat on our own bones. And, I am not a piece of meat.”
