Up Late With Alec Baldwin has been cancelled, weeks after it was suspended following reports the actor had used an anti-gay slur.
MSNBC and Alec Baldwin jointly confirmed that the actor’s chat show “will not continue”.
“This is a mutual parting and we wish Alec all the best,” said a statement.
Alec Baldwin, 55, claimed gay activists had “killed” his show, but acknowledged he had to take “some responsibility” for his actions.
Up Late With Alec Baldwin has been cancelled, weeks after it was suspended following reports the actor had used an anti-gay slur
The show was suspended for two weeks when Alec Baldwin was caught on video, apparently insulting a photographer using a homophobic epithet.
Alec Baldwin disputed using the term, claiming the audio was unclear, but he nonetheless posted an apology on the MSNBC website.
“I did not intend to hurt or offend anyone with my choice of words, but clearly I have,” Alec Baldwin wrote earlier this month.
“Words are important. I understand that and will choose mine with great care going forward.”
Up Late With Alec Baldwin, which had dropped considerably in the ratings since its mid-October debut, was due to return on Friday.
Alec Baldwin said a “fundamentalist wing of gay advocacy” had played a part in the show’s cancellation.
Alec Baldwin, who is currently filming with Jerry Maguire director Cameron Crowe in Hawaii, frequently attracts press coverage with his incendiary remarks.

New reports claimed that Kris Jenner’s new FOX chat show Kris had been cancelled after its initial six-week trial run.
But the programme’s Twitter page has now responded to claims that Kris Jenner was canned and insist that no decision has been made just yet surrounding the future of her show.
A short message to fans was posted on Twitter, stating that current rumors surrounding Kris Jenner were “false”.
“Rumors flying are false but glad everyone is still buzzing about our 6 week summer run!!!!” a Tweet from the Kris Jenner Show’s official Twitter page read.
A source close to Kris Jenner also told Us Weekly that FOX actually “likes the show”.
“It’s way too early for that decision to have been made,” the insider said.
“And on top of that, FOX likes the show.”
It had been previously reported that the momager’s daytime series suffered such poor ratings that the network was adamant that “there is no chance” she will be picked up for a second season.
New reports claimed that Kris Jenner’s new FOX chat show Kris had been cancelled after its initial six-week trial run
This after the talk show received a ratings boost from an appearance by Kanye West – where he revealed the first pictures of his daughter North.
A source allegedly told RadarOnline on Wednesday: “There is no chance the talk show is going to get a green light from FOX.
“The ratings were averaging an abysmal 0.8 and advertisers were less than enthusiastic about it.”
Adding: “Kris did get a ratings bump for her last show when Kanye West revealed the first baby pic of daughter, North West, with Kim, but that was a one time shot in the arm and it wouldn’t be indicative of what the ratings trend would be.”
It appeared that the 57-year-old reality star was hoping to ride the wave of her family’s fame to prop up her chat show’s ratings.
But apparently five days a week of the Kardashians may have been a bit of an overload.
The cancellation rumor comes as Queen Latifah and Bethenny Frankel try their hand this fall at hosting their own talk shows in the highly competitive field of daytime.
Just recently Jeff Probst and Ricki Lake saw both of their shows axed after just one season.
A source further explained to Radar: “It’s a very crowded market and Kris didn’t do anything to set herself apart from the field.
“Believe it or not, most of America doesn’t want to hear about the Kardashian’s for an hour everyday.”
It was also claimed that FOX would be replacing Kris Jenner with panel-format talk show title The Real, after it scored high in the key female demographics following its pilot run on July 15.
FOX is expected to make an official announcement surrounding the future of Kris Jenner in a few weeks, but it was also reported on Wednesday that they were delaying any bad news about the show out of respect to the troubles the Kardashian family is currently facing.
Khloe Kardashian is said to be in the midst of a marital crisis as her husband Lamar Odom is alleged to be in the grip of a serious addiction to drugs.
Lamar Odom had been holed up in a hotel after Khloe Kardashian reportedly “threw him out of the marital home”, following a failed intervention last week.
Despite no confirmation surrounding the future of the show, an insider at the network explained that a cancellation “will be announced in a low key fashion, probably on a Friday afternoon so it won’t generate a ton of negative press for Kris”.

Kim Kardashian made a surprising return to the spotlight on Friday for the first time in more than seven weeks.
Kim Kardashian, 32, appeared in a brief video recording on her mother Kris Jenner’s daytime chat show.
In the pre-taped segment, Kim Kardashian surprised her mother with a short message, saying: “Hey mom, I just wanted to say congratulations on your new show. I’m sorry I couldn’t be there in person, but I’m just loving life a little bit too much at home right now.”
“But I watch you every single day and you are so amazing. You really are born to do this. I just want to say I love you and have an amazing show.”
Kim Kardashian looked happy and healthy in the clip dressed in a white top.
Following the video message, Kris Jenner broke down in tears as she marveled about the surprise with her guest host Diddy.
“You did make me cry… Thank you Kimmy,” Kris Jenner said as she wiped her eyes with a towel.
“That made me cry… Thank you Kimmy, thank you Sean,” she continued.
In fact Kris Jenner was so touched she couldn’t continue saying her thanks at the end of the programme, forcing Diddy to take over.
Kim Kardashian returns to spotlight after seven weeks in hiding with a video message on Kris Jenner’s show
“I just wanted to say thank you Ciara,” Kris Jenner said of her musical guest, before cracking up again.
“I can say this right now…”
Diddy had helped Kim Kardashian surprise the mother and matriarch by pretending to show Kris Jenner a clip that would feature on the new cable TV channel Revolt, which he is launching in October this year with Comcast.
“Check this out for Revolt. I bought something special that I am going to debut on the network, I am going to debut it here first on the Kris show,” Diddy said before showing the clip of Kim Kardashian.
It wasn’t quite the big reveal many fans had been hoping for and there was no sign of her daughter North West.
Earlier in the day, Kim Kardashian had tweeted her fans, telling them that she was going to surprise her mother.
“Getting ready to surprise my mom on @krisjennershow today!!!! You ready NYC? Tune in!” she wrote.
Kim Kardashian, who welcomed her first child with Kanye West on June 15, was last seen in public in an olive green dress on June 12.
On June 29, Khloe Kardashian posted a head shot of Kim sleeping on the couch at home.
Kim Kardashian’s absence from the spotlight has been rather unusual for the reality star, who has relentlessly pursued media attention from the moment her tape was “leaked” in 2007.
There have been suggestions Kim Kardashian has been laying low while she gets back into shape. Her boyfriend Kanye West, who doesn’t share her affection for publicity, has also encouraged her to be more private.
Kim Kardashian’s best friend Jonathan Cheban recently said she has almost regained her pre-pregnancy body.
Jonathan Cheban said: “Knowing Kim, I’m sure she looks 80 per cent at this point, she’s pretty much perfect.”
Kim Kardashian’s video will no doubt be a welcomed boost for Kris Jenner, who has struggled to win over critics with her daytime show.

With a new chat show to promote, Kris Jenner is happily dishing the dirt on her most famous daughter – Kim Kardashian.
Kris Jenner said that if Kim Kardashian and boyfriend Kanye West ever decide to get married it will be a small and “private” affair.
“This time it will be private and smaller, if she does get married again – not 500 people,” Kris jenner told The Hollywood Reporter.
Kris Jenner looked in her element as she graced the cover of The Hollywood Reporter magazine ahead of a six-week trial run of her new talk show, aptly named Kris
The 57-year-old momager of the Kardashian clan looked in her element as she graced the cover of the magazine ahead of a six-week trial run of her new talk show – aptly named Kris.
Kris Jenner will focus on fashion, fitness and beauty on the show and, of course, celebrities.
She also hopes to inspire women her age with the show.
“So many women give up in life when they get a little bit older,” Kris Jenner said.
“I want to be a positive influence. I want to come from a really good place. Some people are just lost, and maybe I can be an inspiration.”
The talk show will mark Kris Jenner’s attempt to get a slice of the lucrative daytime TV market that has seen only Ellen DeGeneres thrive since the departure of daytime queen Oprah Winfrey.
The trial run will take place on selected Fox stations beginning on July 15 and an intensive media campaign will include appearances on Today and Jimmy Kimmel Live!.
The marketing campaign also will leverage social media and the combined 52 million Twitter followers among the Kardashian family and their 31 million Facebook friends.
Kris Jenner was born in San Diego, California in 1955 and worked as a flight attendant for American Airlines after high school. She married attorney Robert Kardashian, who was nearly 12 years older, in 1978 after meeting him when she was 17.
After giving birth to Kourtney, Kim, Khloe and Rob the couple split just one month before she married Olympic champion Bruce Jenner in 1991.
Kris Jenner has steadily built a family-focused empire that includes the hit reality show Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
She also supervises her children’s and her own clothing lines, negotiates contracts that pay the Kardashians a reported $25,000 a tweet and has been writing a cookbook, too.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed Kris Jenner alone had annual revenues of more than $65 million in 2010 and it has increased since.

Kris Jenner has created a near duplicate of the Art Deco entrance hall in her Calabasas, California mansion for the set of her new chat show Kris, which premieres July 15.
The new set looks almost exactly like her foyer – which is often featured in E!’s Keeping Up With The Kardashians – complete with a sweeping double staircase, black-and-white checkered floor and white chandeliers, reports TV Guide.
“All that’s missing is Fred Astaire,” said Kris Jenner, who teamed up with production designer Anton Goss (responsible for The Voice set) to create a replica of her home.
“I know other talk-show sets are intimate and conservative, but I dream big.”
Kris Jenner, 57, explained: “We need energy and glamour in the afternoon.

“I make a grand entrance down my own staircase at least once a day only there’s nobody there to enjoy it. I’m like, <<Where is everybody?>> That’s why I needed a talk show!”
The Kardashian momager – who has masterminded the reality TV careers of her entire family, most notably daughter Kim Kardashian – will present a one-hour show featuring celebrity guests and fashion, beauty and lifestyle discussions.
Kris Jenner said: “This is something I have wanted to do all my life so it’s definitely a dream come true! I can’t wait for this new adventure to begin.”
She tweeted her excitement about the show on Friday, stating: “Cannot wait for you dolls to see my talk show @krisjennershow!!! #KrisTV.”
Her daughter Kim Kardashian was also drumming up some support.
On her blog she wrote: “How amazing is this? The set design for my mom’s talk show is brilliant!
“It looks just like my mom’s house! Make sure you check out Kris when it airs July 15th!”
Twentieth Television believe Kris Jenner’s experience as a momager will help her be a great TV host.
Stephen Brown, Twentieth’s EVP of Development & Programming said: “The latest adventures, successes and disappointments surrounding the extensive Kardashian and Jenner family fill entertainment magazines and create daily online headlines.
“ [In the middle] of this fascinating empire is Kris Jenner – a dedicated mom and a successful business woman.
“Whether offering real advice to her family or sharing personal moments with viewers, Kris is honest, compelling, entertaining, and unscripted – all excellent qualities for a daytime talk show host.”
It is well-known that The Obamas have a well-documented relationship with Oprah Winfrey, but now Mitt and Ann Romney have opened up to the chat show host for the first time.
The Republican power couple welcomed the media mogul into their roomy New Hampshire holiday home on Lake Winnipesaukee, to talk about family, religion, food and, of course, politics.
Casually dressed in jeans, with the top button of his shirt undone, Mitt Romney even took it upon himself to pack Oprah Winfrey a doggie bag for the road, as they finished off in the kitchen.
“Ann makes these little meatloaf cakes with sweet sauce on top.
“Meatloaf cakes and mashed potatoes. Best thing in the world,” he exclaimed during the interview, which is included in the November issue of O, The Oprah Magazine.
Although Oprah Winfrey has seen President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle at the White House on several occasions, it was the first time she had met with Mitt and Ann Romney.
And it seems that she was taken with the “strong family vibe” created by the duo, adding that “cute little kids just seemed to keep coming out of every nook and corner” during her visit.
As well as Mitt Romney revealing his favorite dishes, he also addressed a number of meatier topics.
Asked at what point, did he know that he wanted to be president, he replied: “Not any time during my youth.”
Adding: “As a little boy I wanted to be a policeman. And then as I got older and I saw my dad in the car business, an automobile executive.”
But now aged 65, Mitt Romney remains determined to claim victory in the upcoming U.S. presidential election.
He told Oprah Winfrey: “It do believe I’m going to win.
“I think in the debates we’ll be able to get down to, what do you believe in, how can we help the country? And I think when we do that, we’ll end up winning.”
Meanwhile Ann Romney, who is a mother-of-five and grandmother to 18, stayed focused on the subject of family and her 14-year battle with multiple sclerosis.
She also revealed that despite making regular small-screen appearances, she does not watch television anymore, because she “just can’t deal with it, if I’m going to have the calmness and peace that I need to have.”
Oprah Winfrey also interviewed Barack and Michelle Obama at the Green Room in the White House, for the same issue of her glossy publication.
Describing his vision for the world Barack Obama, who dressed in a suit and tie for the meeting, said: “Michelle accuses me of being a congenital optimist, but it’s true. I think people are capable of great evil but are fundamentally good.
“I want America to continue to be on the side of expanding justice and freedom and opportunity.”
Meanwhile Michelle Obama revealed that she often finds it difficult to discuss things with her husband, as he has so many other things on his mind.
Michelle Obama told Oprah Winfrey: ”I’m stockpiling a list of issues that I’d like to discuss with him in 2016.”
