Willie Robertson too busy to run for Congress
Duck Dynasty star Willie Robertson revealed he does not have any plans to run for Congress from Louisiana.
While promoting Duck Dynasty Season 4 on Fox News’ The Five, Willie Robertson was asked to weigh in on reports that he might run to replace Republican Rep. Rodney Alexander, who is set to resign in September to join the cabinet of Gov. Bobby Jindal.
“I heard I was doing that,” Willie Robertson said regarding the Twitter buzz his own political leanings have sparked, but “that’s news to me.”
“I’m kinda busy right now,” he added.
“I gotta lot of stuff going on.”
Duck Dynasty remains one of the most popular shows on cable and in recent months, WillieRobertson has taken to the road, hitting up the Christian lecture circuit with the likes of megachurch pastor Rick Warren, conservative New England Patriots quarterback Tim Tebow and the ever-present former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.
Willie Robertson, who has referred to his Christian faith, values and support of Second Amendment rights on his show, is said to have been wooed by some top GOP leaders for a run for Congress.
Dismissing the suggestions that he should make an entrance into politics, Willie Robertson instead offered his endorsement when asked whom he “liked for 2016 on the Republican side.” He picked Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal.
“I’m curious to know about Jindal,” Willie Robertson said.
“That’s my guy.”
