Brad Pitt was so taken by the jam of one French delicacy that he jumped on a plane to the town in which the $19 pots are made.
Brad Pitt, 49, flew to Alsace with his eldest son Maddox, 11, and found the mysterious “Jam Fairy” aka Christine Ferber.
Christine Ferber – considered the Heston Blumenthal of jam-making – and her team prepares these confitures in the village of Niedermorschwihr, located in the heart of the Alsatian vineyards.
From classic recipes such as blueberry jam to original concoctions of raspberry jam with star anise it’s no wonder Brad Pitt tracked down the bespoke jam-maker.
But he didn’t just pick up a mammoth order, but stayed with Christine Ferber, 53, to learn more about the art of preserve-making with his adopted son.
A source told the Mirror: “Brad is very particular about what he eats but fell in lust with this jam.
“He turned detective and discovered Christine has a little shop in the Alsace region, where she makes the artisan jams. It is very well known among the jam-making fraternity.”
“They had a brilliant time, tasting loads of jams and Christine’s other homemade delicacies. They came away with dozens of pots.”
The source also said that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have designated a room in their Brignoles villa to house the $1,900 worth of preserves.
Brad Pitt may well be looking to bring out his own range soon, with the insider claiming he is “beginning to experiment with recipes of his own”.
Maybe then his preserves will stand on the breakfast trays of the George V hotel in Paris and London’s five-star Connaught hotel in Mayfair, just like Christine Ferber’s artisan creations do.
