Wal-Mart erroneously priced a handful of computer monitors at a heavy discount online last week.

Monitors ranging from a high-definition, 24-inch product by Viewsonic to a 20-inch version made by Hewlett-Packard were made available at the bargain price of $8.85.

The suggested retail price of those two monitors are $199.99 and $185, respectively, although retailers often offer them at discounts.

Many of the monitors were sold out by 8 a.m. ET, although the prices persisted on Walmart.com.

Wal-Mart says that a technical error caused a number of products to be priced absurdly low or high on its website earlier Wednesday. The company says it is working to resolve the issue and that the site may have intermittent problems with availability until then.

A spokesperson declined to specify whether an error was made, but said the tech goodies were unavailable in the retailer’s brick-and-mortar stores and are “no longer available” online. She also couldn’t immediately comment on whether people who swooped in on the pre-holiday snafu would be able to buy the monitors at the specified prices.

Shoppers who browse the digital aisles at Wal-Mart’s website can get a jump start on their holiday shopping.

Wal-Mart is already making a number of so-called “Black Friday” deals on electronics available through its website. Included in the early digital discounts are sharp savings on seven tablet computers and TVs, as well as holiday pricing for 300 other items, The Associated Press notes.

The early deals come as Wal-Mart looks to get a leg up on rivals in what is expected to be a highly competitive holiday shopping season. At least one big-screen TV will be marked down by 36% in one of the seven top deals. In another deal, a tablet will see a 51% discount.

This year’s early discounts follow 100 deals offered on the day after Halloween last year, though those offers were confined to home products.

A Wal-Mart executive indicated that the decision to offer the seven electronics deals was made last month. He noted that a challenging economy was pressuring consumers to start looking for deals as soon as possible.

Retailers are feeling uncertain about the upcoming shopping season, with some cutting back on the number of seasonal workers they hire.

Industry experts say that the pressure of a tight economy will force retailers to eventually abandon Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales in the rush to attract customers earlier in the season.

Walmart has announced that it has slashed the price of the 16 gigabyte iPhone 5 to $98, down from its previous offer of $129.

The offer means it is selling it can less than half the usual $200 price tag of the iPhone 5. To get the discount, customers will however need to sign a new two-year contract with AT&T, Verizon or Sprint.

Walmart also has fresh offers on 10-inch iPads with $50 off its previous price. The latest iPad with Retina Display now costs $449 and the price of the iPad 2 is $349.

However, the iPad mini did not get a discount and costs $330.

Apple typically announces new products during the second week of September and is widely expected to unveil new versions of the iPhone and iPad on Sept. 10

Walmart isn’t the only retailers slash prices to clear out inventory ahead of the anticipated new product launches.

RadioShack is currently offering a $50 discount on all iPhones, including the iPhone 4S and iPhone 4, and customers don’t need to sign a new contract to get the price-cut.

T-Mobile is offering the iPhone 5 for $149 with a new two-year payment plan.

Best Buy is offering $100 off the iPhone 5, but customers need to trade in their old iPhone to get the deal.

Walmart’s deal undercuts all of them. The retailer has also cut the price of the iPhone 4S to $39, down from $89. Typically the iPhone 4S sells for $100 with a new contract.

Duck Dynasty‘s bearded hunters adorn the top-selling graphic T-shirt at Walmart.

“You might have wondered if women would wear a T-shirt with bearded men on the front,” said Duncan Mac Naughton, Walmart’s chief merchandising and marketing officer.

The answer is yes, he added.

In fact, A&E Network’s reality series has become a gold mine for Walmart, and both companies are looking to take advantage of the show’s success with a major expansion of its licensing empire.

The Duck Dynasty franchise is represented in six Walmart departments, including apparel, home goods and sporting goods, but there are plans to expand to 13 departments by the holiday season, said Kate Winn, senior VP-consumer products at A&E Networks.

While there’s the obvious – sporting goods, apparel and DVDs – Duck Dynasty is rolling out some more-unusual merchandise: Halloween costumes for dogs complete with beards and camo gear, along with antibacterial bandages.

Walmart has also introduced the bandages, which come with camouflage decorations and feature sayings from members of the Robertson family, the colorful bayou entrepreneurs, such as: “If you’re too busy to duck hunt, you’re too busy.”

Pointing to a display of the bandages during a store tour for media in Rogers, Arkansas, Walmart President-Health and Wellness John Agwunobi said it’s part of a “longstanding relationship” with Duck Dynasty that’s been successful in other categories.

“Walmart has responded to the program because it is a show the entire family can watch and is wholesome entertainment, which isn’t prevalent on TV right now,” Kate Winn said.

Before they achieved cable-TV fame, the Robertsons, owners of West Monroe, Louisiana-based Duck Commander, were suppliers to Walmart for several years, producing duck-hunting VHS tapes sold in the stores with their phone number included.

For years, the Robertsons would shave their beards before annual trips to see buyers in Bentonville, until a few years ago they decided to keep them when making the trip, a Walmart spokeswoman said.

Duck Dynasty merchandise is also available at national retailers like Kohl’s, Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s.

Kate Winn said there’s an apparel deal in the works at Kohl’s, with merchandise set to hit shelves in the fall.

Suzanne Nassie from Massachusetts says that an iPad she bought at Walmart turned out to be only a piece of plastic painted to look like a real tablet.

Suzanne Nassie said she knew there was a problem the second she opened the shrink wrapped package.

The fake so confusing the store even refused her a refund at first before finally relenting.

“This isn’t even a real device,” Suzanne Nassie said upon discovering the trick.

“Somebody put a phony device in that box.”

There was no cord, and no way to turn the device on.

Suzanne Nassie brought it back to the store, but wasn’t allowed to speak to a manager and was refused a refund even though she brought the $499 receipt printed out just 20 minutes prior.

Instead Walmart employees told her to contact Apple.

By then she’d found even more problems.

Suzanne Nassie from Massachusetts says that an iPad she bought at Walmart turned out to be only a piece of plastic painted to look like a real tablet

“There’s a speaker that’s suppose to be on the back, it’s just little painted dots,” Suzanne Nassie told CBS Boston.

“When I peered inside at the port on the back where you’re suppose to charge it, it’s just plastic. No metal prongs or anything of that nature.”

Suzanne Nassie isn’t the first Walmart customer to get burned on an iPad.

People have reported buying fake devices at stores in New Jersey, Florida, and Texas.

This November, Florida man Emilio Pereda told reporters he purchased a fake iPad from the retail giant for $500.

“There were no red flags,” Emilio Pereda said.

“It was completely wrapped with this wrapper from Walmart with your sku number that matches the receipt.”

Suzanne Nassie has since been contacted by the store manager who apologized then offered a full refund.

“It’s frustrating that someone would try to take advantage of others for their own gain. We have apologized to our customer and offered her a full refund,” a Walmart spokesperson said.

“We’re still working to understand how this could have happened and are actively reviewing our transactional records and surveillance video to determine how this product ended up on our shelves. If a customer is purchasing an iPad at this store, they are welcome to open the product to confirm the right product is in the box after making the purchase.”

A recent survey shows in-store retail sales on Black Friday, the “busiest shopping day”, dropped from last year.

Holiday shoppers spent $11.2 billion at stores across the US this Black Friday, down 1.8% from last year, according to a Saturday report from the Chicago-based retail technology company ShopperTrak.

Those lower in-store sales figures were apparently impacted by hundreds of thousands of shoppers hitting stores on Thursday (Gray Thursday) evening after filling up on turkey and stuffing.

“Black Friday shopping continues to expand into Thanksgiving Day and will impact the way we look at all of the <<Black>> weekend results, since more shopping hours allows for more shopping visits and a smoothing of sales across all of the days,” said ShopperTrak founder Bill Martin.

Big chain outlets including Sears, Target, Toys R Us and Walmart opened their doors as early as 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.

A sharp rise in online shopping likely added to the drop in spending at brick-and-mortar stores this year.

E-commerce sales rose 17.4% on Thanksgiving and 20.7% on Black Friday, compared with last year, according to a recent IBM survey.

A recent survey shows in-store retail sales on 2012 Black Friday dropped from last year

A recent survey shows in-store retail sales on 2012 Black Friday dropped from last year

Still, ShopperTrak said Black Friday foot traffic increased 3.5% this year to more than 307.67 million store visits – a sign that more people were browsing store shelves, if not making actual purchases.

“Black Friday continues to be an important day in retail,” Bill Martin said.

“This year, though, more retailers than last year began their doorbuster deals on Thursday, Thanksgiving itself. So while foot traffic did increase on Friday, those Thursday deals attracted some of the spending that’s usually meant for Friday.”

ShopperTrak estimated that foot traffic increased the most in the Midwest, up 12.9% compared with last year.

Foot traffic in the Northeast increased the least compared with last year, up 7.6% in regions that include those hit hardest by Hurricane Sandy.

ShopperTrak, which counts sales numbers from 25,000 retail outlets across the US, had forecast that Black Friday sales would grow 3.8% this year.

A separate survey from the National Retail Federation says holiday spending on both days combined will likely rise 4% this year.

Some positive signs of spending growth have been in the news in the past few months. U.S. consumer confidence rose to 72.2 in October, its highest level since February 2008 and up from 40.9 a year ago.

Yet many consumers are still worried about the slow economic recovery, high unemployment rates and a looming fiscal cliff.

Millions are battling for bargains across America today as Black Friday, the biggest shopping day of the year, has got off to a flying start despite bad weather, giant crowds and fights in the supermarket aisles.

The first giant scrums started at a Walmart where families battled with each other to get their hands on a pair of $5 headphones, while paramedics rushed to help a Dick’s store cashier who passed out.

With sales on Black Friday expected to soar by 3.8% this year to a staggering $11.4 billion, thousands of shoppers queued around blocks before stores opened. As many as 11,000 lined around Macy’s flagship store in New York City’s Herald Square before it threw open its doors.

In one Walmart, the fights were underway within minutes of opening – as captured on a video posted to YouTube by a father who brought his two children along to the sales.

The youngsters are filmed sitting in a shopping trolley as the person with the camera asks them if they’re “here for the craziness” adding that they are about to watch people fight over a $5 deal for a pair of headphones.

A large crowd are standing in a circle around the box of headphones waiting for the go-ahead from the Walmart staff.

The cameraman, posting on YouTube as David Quigley, struggles to keep his camera steady as the deal drops and the crowd goes wild, throwing themselves over the box.

Men, women and children are seen mercilessly elbowing each other as they shove to grab a pair.

Violence also escalated at a San Antonio mall after a shopper allegedly pulled a gun on another man who had tried to cut to the front of the line at a Sears, the San Antonio Express-News reported.

The man had rushed into the store when it opened Thursday night to get to the front of a line and started arguing with people as he tried cutting in front of them.

A man who was punched in the face during the scuffle pulled a gun and shoppers scattered. But the man had a gun permit and has not been charged with a crime.

There was also drama elsewhere. One shopper from Juneau, Alaska tweeted a picture of a woman being carried from a Dick’s store on a stretcher as crowds focused on the shelves.

“Cashier passed out at Dick’s,” Stevie Hendrix tweeted.

“Black Friday was too much… No one cared, it was kind of sad, they just wanted their stuff.”

In Woodland Mall in Kentwood, Michigan, two teenagers were arrested after a brawl broke out between 15 men outside a JC Penney at 1.30 a.m. Witnesses said pepper spray was used.

At a Walmart in Altamonte Springs, Florida, 28-year-old Samantha Chavez was arrested after being disruptive in the traffic line, and allegedly bullying the officer directing vehicles.

Once inside the store, she allegedly threw merchandise on the floor.

Witnesses, who caught the arrest on video, claimed she only made a scene after losing her sister in the store and becoming scared, CFNews13 reported.

Police also responded to reports of shooting at 1 a.m. in Westroads Mall in Omaha, Nebraska, where nine people were killed five years ago.

Authorities later learned that while a fight had broken out, witnesses had heard trash cans being knocked over, rather than gunshots. There were no arrests.

An hour later at nearby Oak View Mall, police got into a scuffle with a shoplifter who allegedly tried to spray mace at store security guards.

Another video from Black Friday shows hundreds of girls and women storming the entrance of a Victoria’s Secret Pink store at Oak Park Mall, Kansas as it opened at midnight.

And in Springfield, Massachusetts, Anthony Perry, 34, was arrested after he allegedly left his girlfriend’s two-year-old in his car so he could by a 51 inch television from Kmart.

Security notified police about the boy sleeping in the Nissan Venza, broke into the vehicle and took him to hospital for a check-up.

Police found Perry at his home in Springfield with his new television, but do not know how he got there without his car. He claimed the youngster was in the store with him and became lost but will be charged for reckless endangerment of a child.

The shopping frenzy got off to its earliest ever start as the nation’s customers put down their turkey and headed straight to the malls, with some stores opening as early as 6 a.m. on Thanksgiving.

Shops typically open in the small hours of the morning on the day after the national holiday – named Black Friday because it is traditionally when they turn a profit for the year.

But openings have crept earlier and earlier over the past few years and this year, stores such as Target and Toys R Us opened on Thanksgiving evening, while retailers from Macy’s to Best Buy opened their doors at midnight on Black Friday.

Despite the YouTube videos, many shoppers claimed the crowds were largely peaceful, avoiding the riots seen in previous years.

Many stores had an unusually heavy police presence, and there were some reports of scuffles between customers in packed-out shopping aisles.

And amid the shopping frenzy, two customers – a husband and a wife – were hit by a car in the parking lot of a Walmart on the edge of Seattle on Thursday evening, with the wife being airlifted to hospital after the accident which saw her pinned under the vehicle.

Stores from Target to Toys R Us opened their doors on Thanksgiving evening, hoping Americans will be willing to shop soon after they finish their pumpkin pie.

Target opened its doors at 9 p.m. on the holiday, three hours earlier than last year. Sears, which didn’t open on Thanksgiving last year, opened at 8 p.m. on Thursday through 10 p.m. on Black Friday.

Toys R Us opened at 8 p.m., an hour earlier than last year. And others such as Macy’s are opening at midnight on Black Friday.

When Macy’s flagship Herald Square store in New York opened its doors at midnight, about 11,000 shoppers showed up.

Overall, about 17% of shoppers plan to take advantage of Thanksgiving hours, according to a International Council of Shopping Centers-Goldman Sachs survey of 1,000 consumers.

It is estimated that sales on Black Friday will be up 3.8% on last year, to a total of $11.4 billion.

Michael Prothero, 19, and Kenny Fullenlove, 20, were even willing to miss Thanksgiving dinner altogether for deals. They started camping out on Monday night outside a Best Buy store in Toledo, Ohio, which was slated to open at midnight.

It is not a term of endearment to them. Black Friday officially opens the Christmas shopping season in center city, and it usually brings massive traffic jams and over-crowded sidewalks as the downtown stores are      mobbed from opening to closing.”

The biggest shopping day of the year has begun, as stores began to open their doors as early as 8 p.m. on the evening of Thanksgiving in an effort give customers as much time as possible to get their hands on Black Friday deals.

And shoppers wasted no time tearing themselves away from their families to take advantage of the sales, with stores such as Walmart, Target and Sears packed with desperate bargain-hunters.

While initial accounts indicated that the crowds were largely peaceful, avoiding the riots seen in previous years, many stores had an unusually heavy police presence, and there were some reports of scuffles between customers in packed-out shopping aisles.

And amid the shopping frenzy, two customers – a husband and a wife – were hit by a car in the parking lot of a Walmart on the edge of Seattle on Thursday evening, with the wife being airlifted to hospital after the accident which saw her pinned under the vehicle.

Retailers are trying everything they can to lure consumers into stores by making shopping as easy as possible.

In addition to expanding their hours into Thanksgiving, many are offering free layaways and shipping, matching the cheaper prices of online rivals and updating their mobile shopping apps with more information.

“Every retailer wants to beat everyone else,” said C. Britt Beemer, chairman of America’s Research Group, a research firm based in Charleston, S.C. “Shoppers love it”.

Indeed, there were 11 shoppers in a four-tent encampment outside a Best Buy store near Ann Arbor, Michigan. The purpose of their wait? A $179 40-inch Toshiba LCD television is worth missing Thanksgiving dinner at home.

With 41million people expected to shop on what has been dubbed “Gray Thursday”, police have responded to fights and threats between bargain-hungry customers, some of whom have camped outside stores for days.

The spats add to the discontent surrounding the stores, with employees frustrated about working on Thanksgiving, and Walmart workers threatening to protest over their pay, schedules and benefits.

Outside a Kmart in Indianapolis, which opened at 6 a.m. on Thursday, officers responded to a brawl between shoppers as some attempted to sell vouchers the store had handed out for limited items.

“Everybody started going crazy about it, and then the cops got called in and it just became a madhouse,” one shopper told News 8.

And at a Kmart on Stockton Boulevard in South Sacremento, one shopper threatened to stab people while waiting in line for K-Mart’s doors to open and told people he “wasn’t joking”.

Police arrived at the scene shortly after the threat – made after shop staff came outside to hand out “doorbuster deal” vouchers to the first in the line – to help control the crowds.

In a bid to minimize trouble, the Los Angeles Police Department deployed helicopters over some malls, while a cavalry of police officers on bikes and horses monitored from streets below.

According to the L.A. Times, others scoured crowds from rooftops and signs warned shoppers against becoming victims of theft.

It comes after a series of previous Black Friday incidents; at a Wal-Mart in the city last year, scores of people were injured when a woman pepper sprayed her competition in a bid for discounted video games. Two years ago, gunfire broke out at a Toys R Us, killing two people.

“For some people, shopping is a competitive sport,” LAPD Cmdr. Andy Smith told the paper.

“But it should not be a contact sport.”

Officers are also working with stores to keep violent outbursts under control, and Best Buy even participated in training drills to handle the large crowds.

The Walmart where the pepper spray incident occurred will hand out vouchers for some items to avoid a scramble. If customers do not get a voucher for the item, they should expect there will be none left, management told the Times.

Retailers this year will open for Black Friday sales early enough to make shoppers choose between hot deals and hot apple pie after Thanksgiving dinner.

From Toys R Us to Target to Walmart, retailers are opening as early as 8:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving night.

Toys R Us announced Monday that its Black Friday will begin on November 22nd, when doors open at 8:00 p.m. an hour earlier than last year.

To entice shoppers to line up even earlier, the toy retailer will give the first 200 customers at each location a free “Great Big Goody Bag” full of stocking-stuffers up to $30 in value.

“You can have your dinner, then come to our store. We all know that everybody gets burned out on turkey and football,” says Troy Rice, chief of store operations, who expects stores to have lines from 500 to more than 1,000 people by the time doors open.

SALES: Walmart releases Black Friday promos early

Despite an increase in online shopping, Black Friday isn’t going anywhere. About 51% of consumers plan to go holiday shopping Thanksgiving weekend, according to a study out Monday from consulting firm Bain.

Opening earlier every year:

Target. The discounter said Monday that doors will open earlier than ever at 9:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving, offering sales such as $199.99 Sony PS3 consoles and $49 Nook Simple Touch e-readers. From 4:00 a.m. to noon on the day after Thanksgiving, the retailer will give $10 gift cards to shoppers spending over $50 in some categories.

“Many prefer to shop following their family gatherings rather than in the very early hours of the morning,” says Target spokeswoman Jenna Reck.

Walmart. Target’s announcement follows Walmart’s last week saying its Black Friday will start on Thursday at 8:00 p.m., two hours earlier than last year.

Sears. Consumers can start shopping at 8:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving and keep on going until 10 p.m. the next day, says Sears spokesperson Brian Hanover.

“They drop their drumsticks, and they pick up doorbusters,” he says. Members of Sears’ ShopYourWay program can access Black Friday deals online starting on Sunday.

Kmart. The discounter will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving, with a break for dinner until 8:00 p.m. after which stores are open until 3:00 a.m. Stores re-open two hours later on Friday morning, and stay open until 11:00 p.m. Kmart has opened on Thanksgiving since 1991.

Staples. The office supplier will give shoppers until 5:00 a.m. to digest their turkey dinners and start shopping its new inventory of big-screen TVs and video game consoles an hour earlier than last year. Those who arrive before noon on Friday can score savings over $200 on certain HP PCs with Windows 8. Additional deals will be offered all week starting on Sunday in store and online with free shipping to boot.

Drew Barrymore has been the face of CoverGirl for the past five years, but now she is rumored to be launching her own cosmetics brand.

According to WWD, Drew Barrymore, 37, has created a line of make-up exclusively for Walmart, which will hit stores across the U.S. early next year.

The name of the beauty collection remains unknown.

It is believed that Drew Barrymore’s contract with Procter & Gamble, CoverGirl’s parent company, comes to an end in 2013, although a spokesman for the company declined to give an exact date.

However, sources say that she has been working on her own line with one of the world’s leading cosmetics manufacturers, Intercos.

When she signed as a CoverGirl ambassador in 2007, Drew Barrymore said that she wanted to “bring myself and my personality into it, as well as some edgy fashion-forward thinking and positivity to it.”

Drew Barrymore’s usual makeup look is very subtle. Perhaps we can expect rosy shades of blush, neutral eyeshadows, along with darker lip colors.

This would be her first time venturing into the world of celebrity beauty marketing, following the likes of the Kardashians, Kate Winslet and Dita Von Teese.

Drew Barrymore has never even had her own fragrance.

Drew Barrymore was spotted over the weekend enjoying a family day out in Los Angeles with her husband Will Kopelman and their one-month old daughter Olive.

Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson is only seven-year-old, but she is already used to wearing make-up and grown-up clothes when she takes part in child beauty pageants.

So it was no surprise that the pint-sized reality star stepped out in a pair of strappy silver heels as she joined her family for a family shopping trip to Walmart on Saturday.

Honey Boo Boo was joined by her mother June Shannon and three sisters at the store in Alabama before the young star made a public appearance at a nearby shopping mall.

Alana Thompson also wore a T-shirt emblazoned with the slogan “show off!” perhaps appropriate for the star, whose confident appearance on the TLC show Here Comes Honey Boo Boo! has made it a big hit with viewers.

Since its début in August, the show has averaged 2.3 million viewers per episode.

It topped all individual cable and network broadcasts of the Republican National Convention on August 19 getting a 1.3 rating with adults 18-49, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In fact, the network has already ordered a second season of the show, along with three holiday specials – dubbed “HOLLAday” special shows, celebrating Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas with America.

Amy Winter, general manager of TLC, said: “Alana and her family have become a pop culture phenomenon.

“What you see is what you get, and we are excited to share even more of their unbridled hilarity, sincerity and love with our viewers.”

The programme focuses on the four sisters, along with Anna’s baby Kaitlyn and Honey Boo Boo’s father Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson.

For their trip to Walmart, the sisters all sported casual clothes, with baby Kaitlyn strapped to Honey Boo Boo’s front.

The family was without patriarch Sugar Bear who has recently been treated in hospital for a nasty leg infection.

“He is not getting his leg amputated, what it was he had a four wheeler wreck a couple weeks ago and his leg was badly bruised,” June Shannon revealed.

“Sugar Bear is a big baby, when he gets hurt he’s a big baby and he likes us to stay and when we have to leave he doesn’t like it.”

A woman had to be rescued from a Kentucky Walmart restroom last week after found super glued to a toilet seat.

Stuck for at least an hour, the unidentified woman was removed by Emergency Medical Services inside the store’s restroom in Monticello, Kentucky.

“We are looking at it. Right now I wouldn’t be prepared to say if it was accidental or intentional,” Chief Ralph Miniard of the Monticello Police Department told WAVE.

The woman was taken to a local hospital to be checked out.

Police said an investigation was underway with no reported suspects.

Chief Ralph Miniard said that the incident was suspected as more than curious for one bonding reason: “From the simple fact that the superglue or that type of adhesive is very fast drying. If it had been there very long it wouldn’t have stuck,” he told LEX 18.

The adhesive, a single square-inch of which can hold more than a ton in weight depending on the brand, can also cause burns to skin if a large amount of the glue is in contact.

Not the first Walmart seat to find itself lined in super glue, however, just over a year ago a man was also caught with his pants down in a restroom in Maryland.

That 48-year-old escaped the store with the toilet seat still stuck to him after a 15-minute rescue by EMS.

It was later that day removed at a local hospital.

Police in that case reported the offender could face second-degree assault charges.

That man received minor injuries to his buttocks, officers told CNN.

Acetone, a chemical commonly found in nail polish remover, is advised as a common method – along with warm, soapy water, of unbinding the sticky glue.

Avery L. Blandin from South Carolina has been charged with murder of his wife, who was fatally stabbed inside a Greenville County Walmart this weekend.

It was reported that while shoppers looked on in horror, store management roped off the area for homicide investigators and continued to operate as usual.

Avery L. Blandin, 46, is accused of killing Lilia Blandin, 38, who worked at the Woodforest Bank inside the discount retail store in Berea.

Greenville County Sheriff’s Office Master Deputy Jenning said police were called to at 1:21 p.m. on Saturday to the Walmart at 6134 White Horse Road, where they found Lilia Blandin with stab wounds.

Lilia Blandin was transported to the hospital but she died shortly after.

Witnesses told deputies they heard a verbal fight between the woman and a male suspect, which escalated to a physical fight.

Shopper Phillip Tallent told local station WYFF4 he was looking for Christmas lights with his family when the horrifying scene unfolded, and he intervened.

Phillip Tallent told the station: “When I looked, I could see a couple of stabbing motions, and I really started to run towards the front (of the store).

“I’ve seen it when [the man] was making a stomping motion at [Lilia Blandin] across her chest and neck area. I picked up the chair and I hit him.”

Phillip Tallent told deputies that a man, identified as Avery Blandin, ran towards the door with several witnesses failing in attempts to stop him.

The witness said the man fled the scene after pulling out a second knife.

“That’s when I let him go because I already seen what he did with the first one, so I wasn’t going to get involved with the next one,” Phillip Tallent said.

Deputies confirmed a male suspect fled the scene. Phillip Tallent told WYFF4 he was able to get the tag number of the car the man got into and gave it to investigators.

Walmart company spokesman Dianna Gee told Greenville’s News Channel 4 the company is assisting with the investigation and had turned over surveillance video footage from the store.

“We did, as requested, close our grocery checkout area to allow the police to do their work and provide some level of privacy, given the circumstances,” Dianna Gee said.

“This was a senseless act of violence, and our thoughts and prayers go out to the victim’s family during this difficult time.”

Avery Blandin, of Simpsonville, was identified and located after the stabbing when he was involved in a traffic collision.

According to deputies, Avery Blandin was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital to receive treatment for injuries and will later be taken to Greenville County Detention Center to await a bond hearing on Monday.

Neither men involved have been publicly named, and the only detail that police have released is that the beating took place in the sporting goods section of the store in Lakewood neighbourhood in Long Beach.

Lt. Eddie Hernandez said: “Witnesses have drawn the conclusion that the suspect is homeless. We haven’t confirmed that.

“The victim was in the sporting-goods section. The suspect approached him and started to attack him with a baseball bat, causing severe head trauma.”

Later reports said that the homeless man was asking shoppers for money and the elder man turned him down.

The homeless then picked up an aluminium bat from the sports section that he used to start beating the 74-year-old.

One shopper, Jennifer Thompson, was in the next aisle over when the attack occurred.

“Just think, somebody’s family is going to be home tonight and say <<My relative got beat up with a baseball bat in the sporting goods of WalMart>>. This was terrible,” the woman said.

“I heard no words, I just heard the noise,” Jennifer Thompson said.

“He must have been apparently hitting him with the bat.”

The investigation continues as police will try to gather information by looking through store security footage.

Two women have been arrested after they started a bleach and other chemicals fight in a Walmart store in Baltimore, Maryland.

Police said Theresa Monique Jefferson, 33, and another woman threw bleach and another chemical on each other during the argument, prompting officials to evacuate the store for two hours and call in a hazardous materials team.

According to firefighters, 19 people, Walmart customers and employees, had to be taken to hospitals, although only one was thought to have serious injuries.

The alleged bleach fight between the two women took place in the Lansdowne Station shopping centre in Baltimore.

The Baltimore Sun said the argument between Theresa Monique Jefferson and the other woman went back before the store fight.

The Baltimore Sun also reported Theresa Monique Jefferson has a child with the victim’s boyfriend.

A spokesman for Walmart told the New York Daily News:

“This is obviously not the type of behaviour that we would expect from people at our stores.

“And we want to apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused other customers.”

Three Walmart employees were also taken to hospital with minor respiratory problems.

The person who is in serious conditions was taken to the Wilmer Eye Institute with a potentially serious eye injury.

Firefighters were called to the Walmart store in the Baltimore suburb of Arbutus shortly before 11:00 a.m. Saturday.

Glenn Blackwell, Fire Department spokesman says that, by the end of the day, one person was arrested and charges are pending.

According to authorities, the other chemical used in the fight was ammonia and, when bleach and ammonia are mixed toxic fumes are produced that can cause choking and breathing problems.

Mary Bach, a Walmart shopper has successfully sued the retail giant after she was charged $1 instead of 98 cents for a pack of sausages.

Mary Bach, who has made a habit of taking Walmart to court, was angered when the chain’s store in Delmont, Pennsylvania made her pay $1 for a box of Banquet Brown ‘N Serve sausages, which had been priced at 98 cents.

Walmart argued new packaging caused a mix-up on the price, but Mary Bach, a consumer activist from Murrysville, claimed the overcharge was intentional.

Murrysville District Judge Charles Conway agreed with Mary Bach and ruled the store breached trade laws. The judge awarded Mary Bach $100 in damages, plus $80 in court costs, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported.

Mary Bach said the court battle was not about money, but principle

Mary Bach said the court battle was not about money, but principle

“This is the fifth lawsuit that I have now won against this store, this Delmont Walmart, for the same problem: practice of putting up a shelf tag that was lower than the price charged at the cash register,” Mary Bach told WPXI outside court.

“All this is for the scanner charge to correlate with the shelf tag or vice versa. I’m not telling them what price to charge for the item they’re selling.”

Mary Bach said she hopes her court case will ensure the error does not happen to any other costumers, no matter how small.

Mary Bach said the Walmart should be more careful in guaranteeing that prices listed on shelves match what prices scan at the register, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported.

“Walmart was wrong. They were overcharging customers. Even though it was a minimal amount, they were wrong,” Mary Bach told WPXI.

Mary Bach testified that on August 20 she picked up the sausages, which had a listed price of 98 cents, but was charged $1 when she reached the check-out.

“The clerk did everything right when I pointed out the error and refunded me the difference and noted the error,” Mary Bach said.

However, six days later, Mary Bach went back to the store to purchase more of the same sausages when the same thing happened, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported.

This time Mary Bach was not interested in a refund and she took the store to court.

Walmart attorney Timothy J. Nieman argued that Mary Bach, who has a reported 17-year history of legal battles over pricing faults, was not really shopping for groceries, but was looking for her next lawsuit.

“Never once have I been questioned by a cashier whether an item I’m purchasing is for my personal use or not,” Mary Bach said.

“Everything I buy is for my personal use.”

Mary Bach told the court her husband and grandchildren enjoy the sausages on a regular basis.

Walmart spokesman Greg Rossiter told WPXI the company tried to refund the money to Mary Bach, but she refused. He said Walmart respectfully disagrees with the decision, and is considering its options.
