Former Voice contestant Christina Grimmie has died at the age of 22 after being shot following a concert in Orlando, officials in Florida say.
Christina Grimmie was taken to a local hospital tonight in Orlando after being shot by a male suspect, who proceeded to shoot himself.
According to officials, the male attacker opened fire when the singer was signing autographs.
The assailant was tackled by Christina Grimmie’s brother.
In 2014, Christina Grimmie finished third during season six of The Voice.
Police say Christina Grimmie was shot about 22:45 local time on June 10 at The Plaza Live in Orlando.
The attacker, whose name has not been released, had two guns.
A police investigation is now under way.
After news of Christina Grimmie’s hospitalization, The Voice tweeted: “We are heartbroken. @TheRealGrimmie is a loved member of our family. Our thoughts are with her and her family. #PrayForChristina.”

In a statement the former couple said they were committed to raising their children together.

“To that end, we respectfully request privacy from the media during this time.”
Gwen Stefani, 45, is a coach on The Voice.
The singer and her 49-year-old husband worked together on The Voice in 2013, but she later admitted it had been “awkward”.
“We’ve only collaborated on making babies,” she admitted.
Gwen Stefani is also a successful designer and launched her own fashion label L.A.M.B. in 2003.
She posted a picture online a week ago in which she appeared to be on holiday in Montana.

Gavin Rossdale tweeted his 170,000 followers on July 29, saying: “Bye bye London. Flying home.”
No date of separation was listed in the Los Angeles court filings.

The BBC has already commissioned another two series of The Voice.
It has not yet been confirmed whether Kylie Minogue’s fellow panelists Tom Jones, Ricky Wilson and will.i.am will return for the fourth series next year.

NBC said it would announce the remainder of the coaching line-up to appear alongside Pharrell Williams, who previously appeared as an advisor to Usher on season four, at a later date.

The video of the qualifying stage of the project was run by television host Ivan Urgant in his program, with the blind casting part of the footage featuring none other than President Vladimir Putin. NBC entertainment chief, Bob Greenblatt, said that the network was glad to support Aguilera and Green by allowing them to take time away from the program.
Shakira is a Colombian singer-songwriter and dancer whose song Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) was chosen as the official song of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
More recently she has been working on a new album.
Usher is one of the biggest selling artists in the world, whose recent hits include OMG and Yeah! He is also credited with signing Justin Bieber.
He also recently appeared on Oprah’s Next Chapter to discuss the custody battle over his two young sons and the death of his stepson Kile Glover after a jet ski accident.
