Stella McCartney was the big winner of the British Fashion Awards 2012, taking home two major awards.
Stella McCartney, daughter of Sir Paul McCartney and a mother-of-four, was awarded Designer of the Year and Designer Brand of the Year at a star-studded event at London’s Savoy hotel.
The double win follows a momentous year for Stella McCartney, most notably her Team GB kit designs for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Among the winners of the 14 other awards recognizing talent across the fashion industry were Erdem, Nicholas Kirkwood, Roksanda Ilincic and JW Anderson.
Cara Delevingne was named Model of the Year, and Alexa Chung was once again given the British Style Award, which is voted by the public.
Manolo Blahnik was honored for his outstanding achievement in fashion by architect Zaha Hadid, and Harold Tillman CBE was given the Special Recognition Award by HRH Princess Beatrice of York.

The Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator was given to Professor Louise Wilson OBE, course director of the Fashion MA at Central Saint Martins.
The event, hosted by Gemma Arterton and Nick Grimshaw, was attended by some of the fashion industry’s most important figures, among them Sarah Burton, Valentino, BFC Ambassador Samantha Cameron.
Harold Tillman said in a press release: “The British Fashion Awards are a significant event which represent the culmination of extraordinary talent, creativity and innovation across the whole industry.
“The ceremony provides the perfect conclusion to what has been an exceptional year for British fashion and we’re very proud to celebrate the achievements of all the nominees here this evening.”

Stella McCartney designed the Team GB Olympics kit so it’s no surprise to see the fashion designer at the London Games.
Stella McCartney enjoyed a family day out at Olympic Park with her father Sir Paul, his wife Nancy Shevell and her husband Alasdhair Willis.
The foursome showed their support for the cycling in the velodrome and saw Laura Trott, Joanna Rowsell and Dani King scoop gold in the women’s team pursuit event.
Paul McCartney, 70, was seen with his arm around Nancy Shevell and as the British team pedalled to victory the singer was seen punching his arm in the air.

After the girls flew across the finish line Paul McCartney leaned over to kiss his daughter in celebration which made for a touching scene.
The Beatles singer was in such a jubilant mood he even decided to lead the crowd in a spot of singing and was seen enthusiastically belting out a tune.
Nancy Shevell was seen showing her support for Team GB and Stella McCartney’s designs in a grey 2012 T-shirt while Alasdhair Willis had a jacket in the kit’s colors.
Stella McCartney opted for a houndstooth jacket over a plain white T-shirt while Paul opted for a crisp white shirt and a pair of jeans.
Sir Paul MCartney was certainly getting into the spirit of the arena and waved a flag with gusto as well as taking part in a Mexican wave with plenty of passion.
His daughter has been supporting Team GB throughout the Games and is more than familiar with the Olympic park having visited every day.
But Stella McCartney will no doubt have enjoyed spending time with her father and Nancy Shevell, who unlike Paul’s previous wife Heather Mills, she gets on well with.
Kim Kardashian denied that she wore a shapewear garment beneath the black Stella McCartney dress she was spotted in two nights ago in Paris.
Kim Kardashian, 31, wrote on her blog yesterday: “That’s exactly how I bought it with those nude panels inside. So no Spanx here!”
Despite her denial, the reality star has long proved a fan of shapewear.
Kim Kardashian has been photographed on several occasions flashing versions of Spanx-like garments underneath her clothing.
The nude material, or something very similar to a Spanx product, was spotted wrapped around her upper thigh as she stepped out in a black and white dress for a business meeting in Los Angeles in March.
It had happened just one month prior when the star had been photographed attending a church service.

Although Kim Kardashian may have not intentionally set out to criticize the multi-million dollar brand, Spanx defended its products as a response to her denial.
A spokesman for the company wrote in a letter to Racked.com that its customers should proudly let their “Spanx shape show!”
The statement continued: “Whether it’s a Slimmer & Shine slip or a Stella McCartney dress with a Spanx-inspired liner, we say let your Spanx show.”
Many had assumed that Kim Kardashian had again worn the shapewear, only this time underneath the Stella McCartney dress as a familiar beige garment peeked out from beneath it.
Furthermore, the dress has been spotted without the beige underlay on multiple celebrities in recent times, such as Gisele Bundchen, Kate Winslet and Vogue Japan editor Anna Dello Russo, which further grew suspicion.
According to Kim Kardashian, she received the dress with the beige panel already attached to it.
She said: “I wore this gorgeous polka dot Stella McCartney dress out yesterday and I’ve seen some publications saying I’m flashing my Spanx or control underwear underneath the dress.
“Stella made a full collection with these sheer panels on the side, and this is how my dress came. Xo”
Coco Perez, the gossip website, had first made note of the beige garment beneath the black dress.
The post was titled: That’s Not How You Wear Spanx, Kim.
It read: “Kim Kardashian flashed more than just her underpants in Paris on Monday, she flashed her whole damn Spanx!”
