Bobbi Kristina Brown and Nick Gordon took Whitney Houston’s place at the premiere on Sparkle last night.

And it was as boyfriend and girlfriend that the pair walked the red carpet, following their coming out as a couple in the months since their mother’s death.

Bobbi Kristina Brown, 19, showed her curves in a clinging bandage dress, teamed with feathered stilettos. Her flawless red carpet look was completed by her mother’s diamond ring on her hand.

Nick Gordon, 22, wore a sharp black suit, teamed with a diamond stud in his ear and a red handkerchief.

He escorted his “sister” down the red carpet.

Bobbi Kristina Brown and Nick Gordon lived together as brother and sister for more than a decade before their mother’s death. Whitney Houston took Nick Gordon into her home at the age of 12 when his father went to prison and his mother was unable to take care of him.

Nick Gordon was Whitney’s unofficially adopted son, and she treated him like family up until her death at the age of 48 due to an accidental drowning complicated by heart disease and cocaine use.

Whitney Houston, a prestigious six-time Grammy award winning singer, was found dead in a Beverly Hills hotel room on February 11, 2012.

Nick Gordon first fueled rumors about their relationship status in a tweet written in March, exclaiming: “Yea we got a little closer and what!!!”

The controversial couple have reportedly been sharing her $1.2 million Atlanta home together ever since.

“No matter what…This connection between us will #STAYSTRONG 4EVER! We will love & miss u 4ever lady:),” Bobbi Kristina Brown wrote this week, adding, “& still through those trials & tribulations the devil kept on trying to break them & soon realized…He couldn’t”.

By the age of 30 Bobbi Kristina Brown will have inherited everything that belonged to her iconic mother – mansions, jewellery, cars, and an extraordinary fortune.

She recently did a guest stint on Tyler Perry’s sitcom For Better Or Worse.

Bobbi Kristina Brown is currently filming her blooming love for Nick Gordon on her upcoming reality show, The Houston Family Chronicles, which is set to premiere on Lifetime next month.

Whitney Houston stars as Emma, the mother of Sparkle Anderson, played by Jordin Sparks, and her two sisters who are trying to make it as a motown girlband in the remake of the 1976 movie-musical.

The darker aspects of the story reminded Whitney Houston of her own troubled life, according to Carmen Ejog, who plays troubled Tammy “Sister” Anderson.

“Sister really takes like a crazy journey and Whitney was very aware of that story line being very parallel to her own, and I think it’s to her credit that she was excited to bring a message that was as dark as it was light, and was not scared of doing that,” Carmen Ejog told MTV News.

“If she was here right now she’d be talking about those parallels without any shame and with the sense of giving to us as an audience, as like the receiving of this movie and this story.

“When you get to that level you could just be guarded and just keep so many things to yourself and she just wasn’t that person.

“<<Learn from me, learn from this cautionary tale>>, is literally what she says in the movie, and that’s amazing.”

Also at last night’s premiere was Whitney Houston’s grieving mother Cissy and her boyfriend Ray J, who she was dating at the time of her death.

MTV has gotten their paws on R. Kelly’s new memoir Soulacoaster, The Diary of Me, and the most surprising detail is that the King of R&B needed a hanky after watching The Notebook movie.

The cheesy 2004 romance movie was the final spark to push R. Kelly to divorce wife and former back up dancer Andrea Kelly, inciting an intense period of introspection about the woman he married in 1996 and had three children with.

“As the film credits started to roll, I couldn’t move,” wrote R. Kelly.

“I burst into tears. People walking past me patted me on the back, trying to console me. <<The Notebook>> was beautiful, and I was crying because its hero and heroine had died together. But I was also crying because I remembered a Valentine’s Day when a helicopter dropped a rainfall of roses. That had come and gone… My marriage had died. And there was nothing I could do to bring it back.”

The couple divorced in January 2009, a mere six months after R. Kelly, real name Robert Sylvester Kelly, was exonerated of all 14 counts of videotaping himself having sex with an underage girl. Talk about a Pyrrhic victory.

R. Kelly’s music will next be heard in this summer’s Whitney Houston starrer Sparkle, which he composed several new tracks for.

A new behind-the-scenes footage of Whitney Houston filming her forthcoming movie Sparkle shows the singer, who passed away age of 48, looking happy and healthy.

In a new clip featured on U.S. network Entertainment Tonight, presenter Mark Steins also said he had heard Whitney Houston’s voice was “100% back” as he went on set of the film last October and November.

Mark Steins gave his thoughts on interviewing Whitney Houston, who is shown on set performing and interacting with the crew.

He revealed that Whitney Houston didn’t want to be interviewed alone, instead opting to sit side by side with director Salim Akil and co-star Jordin Sparks.

Whitney Houston is shown filming a scene in curlers, but Mark Steins said the singer insisted on changing into a patterned shift dress and putting on make-up.

Wearing a purple dress, Whitney Houston looked fresh and youthful as she chatted with the presenter, who said she looked “healthier and heavier” then he could recall.

And in an eerie foretelling, Whitney Houston animatedly discussed a connection between the movie and the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, where her funeral was held last week.

The legendary singer revealed that in the movie, the church is called the New Hope Baptist Church, where her character sings in the choir.

Whitney Houston added the film’s writers “had no idea” that it was the same name as her own childhood church “I grew up with in New Jersey”.

She was laid to rest in the church last weekend in a moving service.

In between filming scenes in a church, singing the gospel hymn Eyes On The Sparrow, Whitney Houston revealed her distaste for cursing.

Whitney Houston said of refusing to listen to a rap song with explicit lyrics: “I did that with my own daughter. I said, <<We’re not listening to that, no.>>”

Jordin Sparks, the former American Idol winner, who is four years older than Whitney Houston’s own daughter, Bobbi Kristina, recalled her favorite on-set memory of the superstar.

The 22-year-old singer told Access Hollywood: “[Whitney] had an iPod and she’d be blasting gospel, and I’d put on Teach Me How To Dougie or something. She’d say, <<You listen to this?>> and I’d say, <<Yes, I do>>.

“One night we were waiting for the camera change and we all stood up and starting Dougie-ing. It was this crazy moment.

“It was so funny and such an out of body experience. I’m going, <<This is Whitney Houston, regal Whitney Houston>> and there she was, just getting down. It was awesome.”

Whitney Houston’s last performance hits the big screen on August 17 of this year, though it was originally slated for an August 10 release.

The film was inspired by the story of 1960’s girl group The Supremes and is a remake of the 1976 film of the same name starring Aretha Franklin.

The 2012 version of Sparkle takes place in Detroit and is set in the Motown era.

Musical prodigy Sparkle (Jordin Sparks) has to deal with the hardships of becoming a star and keeping her family together, while Whitney Houston plays her struggling mother Emma.

The film also stars Derek Luke, Mike Epps and The Voice judge Cee Lo Green.

It is Jordin Sparks’ début performance as an actress, and it was meant to be the role that re-launched Whitney Houston’s career.

The film will be dedicated to Whitney Houston’s memory.
