Actor Robin Williams is returning to TV screens for the first time since starring in the 1970s show Mork & Mindy with a new comedy, The Crazy Ones.
Robin Williams, 62, who rose to fame as the alien Mork in the hit series, will play an eccentric advertising agency boss in the sitcom.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer‘s Sarah Michelle Gellar will play his daughter.
The show, from Ally McBeal creator David E. Kelley, is due to air in the US in September.
Robin Williams said he hopes audiences will be drawn to his character, Simon Roberts, and will enjoy watching how he relates to his daughter.
“You have to establish a character that people buy into,” he said.

Robin Williams, who was known for his improvisation skills in Mork & Mindy, will be given the freedom to ad lib and be spontaneous in The Crazy Ones.
“He says my words perfectly. Then he uses his,” said David E. Kelley.

The show is one of a number of new shows added to the autumn TV line-up in the US.
A new four-hour mini-series on NBC will see Diane Lane in the role of former first lady and Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton.
NBC said the show, simply named Hillary, will track Hillary Clinton’s life and career from 1998 to the present.
The series will air ahead of the 2016 US presidential election.
Hillary Clinton has not said whether she will make another run for the Democratic nomination for president.

Bobbi Kristina Brown, Whitney Houston’s daughter, simply shines in a new preview of Tyler Perry’s sitcom For Better Or Worse.
In her first major role as an actress, Bobbi Kristina Brown, 19, is featured in a 30-second clip for the show, with the full episode airing tonight.
And it seems just like her late mother Whitney Houston, who famously starred in The Bodyguard in 1992, Bobbi Kristina Brown is a natural.
While she is only seen briefly in the video, Bobbi Kristina Brown appears completely at ease in front of the camera.
The episode revolves around the lead women, Angela and Leslie, who are looking for a man for their friend Jennifer.
Bobbi Kristina Brown is playing the daughter of a stylist who works in a beauty salon run by Angela, and tells the ladies: “You two are setting yourselves up for a disaster.”

In another brief scene, Bobbi Kristina Brown is seen standing between the two women, stating: “Whoa, that is not a great idea.”
Tyler Perry’s For Better or Worse is an American comedy-drama series created and produced by the playwright, director and producer and premiered in November 2011.
The comedic series is based on Tyler Perry’s hit films, Why Did I Get Married? and Why Did I Get Married Too?
The show focuses on the antics of couples Marcus and Angela Williams, Joseph and Leslie, and Richard and Keisha.
Earlier this year, Bobbi Kristina Brown’s appearance on the show was shrouded in controversy.
The only daughter of Whitney Houston was reported to have stormed off the set in a flood of tears.
But Tyler Perry, 42, later denied that she broke down whilst working on his new sitcom.
He rushed to the teen’s defense on his website.
“There is no way that she could have walked off the set because we have finished taping the season,” he told his fans at the time.
He added that as she had just lost her mother, that understandably there were difficult days.
“Were there tough days for her? Yes of course. Not because of the acting or any job-related issues but because of the fact that she had just lost her mother,” Tyler Perry wrote.
“So yes she was grieving, but grief aside, she managed to finish her obligation and did a great job at the same time.”
He also asked that people give Bobbi Kristina Brown a break.
“PLEASE LEAVE THIS BABY ALONE!!!! AND SHE IS A BABY!!! Please stop the lies and give this child some room to breathe and grieve.”
It was announced in March that Bobbi Kristina Brown had landed the part in Tyler Perry’s TBS sitcom.
Tyler Perry, who spoke at Whitney Houston’s funeral, explained why he gave Bobbi Kristina Brown the role.
“After Whitney’s funeral, Krissi and I spent a long time talking about her goals and dreams. She said she wanted to act. That’s when I decided to write her into <<For Better Or Worse>>,” he wrote.
“I thought that there would be no better way for me to help her move through the grieving than by giving her something to focus on.”
Whitney Houston died on February 11, at the age of 48.
The singer was found unresponsive in the bathtub of room 434 at the Beverly Hilton.
Authorities called her death an accidental drowning, complicated by heart disease and cocaine use.
Tyler Perry posted a message on his personal website yesterday denying that Bobbi Kristina Brown had quit his TBS sitcom For Better or Worse because she was upset about her mother, the late Whitney Houston.
“Leave This Baby Alone and Stop the Lies Please!!!” Tyler Perry headlined the post on his website.
“I woke up this morning to my publicist calling me saying that there were reports that Bobbi Kristina walked off the set of <<For Better Or Worse>>. NOT TRUE AT ALL PEOPLE!!! There is no way that she could have walked off the set because we have finished taping the season.”
RadarOnline reported earlier on Wednesday that Bobbi Kristina Brown, who signed on for a recurring role on For Better or Worse in March, had quit the show “a few weeks ago.”

Tyler Perry wrote on his website: “Were there tough days for [Bobbi Kristina]? Yes of course. Not because of the acting or any job-related issues but because of the fact that she had just lost her mother. And being someone who knows about losing their mother, I know grief comes in different ways and you never know when it’s going to hit you or how it’s going to hit you … So yes she was grieving, but grief aside, she managed to finish her obligation and did a great job at the same time.”
The second season of For Better or Worse, which includes the episodes starring Bobbi Kristina Brown, premieres on July 13 on TBS.
