Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth’s See You Again overtook Psy’s Gangnam Style as the most-watched video on YouTube.
The South Korean megahit had been the site’s most-played clip for the last five years.
The surreal video became so popular that it “broke” YouTube’s play counter, exceeding the maximum possible number of views (2,147,483,647), and forcing the company to rewrite its code.
Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth’s See You Again, a heart-wrenching ballad, has now been streamed 2,897,632,968 times; beating Psy’s current count of 2,895,111,556 views.
Adding it up, that means See You Again has been streamed for a total of 21,759 years. If one person was to listen to each of those streams consecutively, they’d have to have started during the glacial peak of the last Ice Age.

Charlie Puth wrote on Twitter: “I joined YouTube in 2007 hoping to make a video that would reach 10,000 views.
“Just heard about See You Again… Wow.”
See You Again was written for Furious 7, playing over the closing credits in tribute to Paul Walker, who died in a car accident before the movie was completed.
It was the best-selling song worldwide in 2015, and received best song nominations at both the Grammys and the Oscars.
The music video features the final scene of Furious 7, in which the two main characters Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and Brian O’Conner (Cody Walker, filling in for his brother, Paul), drive side-by-side, sharing a smile for the last time before they pull onto separate roads and drive into the sunset.
As the camera pans up into the sky, a title card reads “For Paul” and the video ends.
The video reached 1 billion views in six months, and hit 2 billion in September 2016. However, its reign as YouTube’s most-watched clip may be short-lived.
Luis Fonsi’s summer smash Despacito has racked up 2.5 billion views in just six months, and it shows no signs of slowing down.
Meanwhile, 47 of the top 50 clips on YouTube are music videos, proving the importance of the streaming site to the music industry – despite the fact the two sides are locked in a battle over royalty payments.
According to analysis by Midia Research, every stream on YouTube generates $0.001 for the music industry.
That means Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth’s See You Again has earned $2.9 million from YouTube – roughly the same amount it has made from 665 million plays on Spotify.
Furious 8 will be released on April 14, 2017, Vin Diesel confirmed at Universal’s CinemaCon panel on April 23.
Vin Diesel told the crowd of theater owners: “It means a lot to me to get your blessing.”
The actor took the audience back to two years ago when on the same stage at Caesars Palace, he and Paul Walker said they planned to move forward on a seventh film in the Fast and Furious franchise.
Paul Walker died in a 2013 car crash.
At various points after Paul Walker’s shocking death, it seemed as though Universal might have to cancel the production.
Furious 7 shooting was not yet complete when the crash happened, but special effects technicians and stunt doubles were able to complete the project, resulting in what domestic distribution chief Nick Carpou termed, “a cathartic experience for fans of Walker”.
Furious 7 has topped the global box office by taking $384 million in its opening weekend.
Almost half of that figure – $190 million – was made at the US box office.
Globally, it is the fourth-highest opening of all time, beaten only by two Harry Potter movies and The Avengers.
Interest in Furious 7 was at least partially tied to its late star Paul Walker, who died in a car crash in before the movie was completed in 2013.
Following the fatal accident, production on Furious 7 was suspended while the filmmakers decided whether or not to proceed.
The team ultimately decided to delay the release from its scheduled July 2014 date. Paul Walker’s scenes were completed using a mixture of computer animation and body doubles – including two of the star’s younger brothers, Caleb and Cody.
“This is a bittersweet installment in the franchise,” said Phil Contrino, vice president and chief analyst at BoxOffice.com.
“Walker’s passing made this movie more intriguing for people who hadn’t seen some of the installments. It raised awareness and its success is a tribute to him.”
The original – The Fast and the Furious, released in June 2001 – was a sleeper hit that spawned a few moderately successful sequels.
After the third movie in the series, Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift, left cinemas with a franchise-worst box office of $158 million, it seemed the series would be scrapped, or move to the straight-to-DVD market.
Instead, executives persuaded Vin Diesel, the star of the original film, to return and made Fast & Furious – a heist film set overseas.
Since then, the franchise has gone from strength to strength, with each movie outperforming the last.

Amy Nieman said Meadow Rain Walker’s mother, Rebecca Soteros, has been spending time with her daughter while receiving treatment for alcoholism and is currently sober.
She says the teenager is being cared for by a nanny who has helped raise Meadow Walker for roughly two years.
Paul Walker’s mother petitioned for a guardianship over her granddaughter but asked to dismiss it, citing Meadow Walker’s wishes.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Brian O’Conner will be “retired in a way… [which] will satisfy fans of the franchise and make use of the existing footage of Paul Walker.
“[Movie bosses] devised a plan to tweak the existing script so that Walker would remain a part of the story but could be written out, allowing the franchise to continue without him.”
Fast & Furious 7 is set to hit theatres on April 10th, 2015.
A post-mortem examination has found that neither Paul Walker nor driver Roger Rodas were under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of their deaths in the fatal car accident.
Their Porsche was travelling at an “unsafe speed” when it hit a pole and burst into flames in California on November 30, a coroner’s report stated.
Both deaths have since been ruled accidents, authorities say.
Paul Walker was best known for the car racing films Fast and Furious.
Authorities estimate the car was travelling at nearly 100 mph at the time of the fatal accident, according to the coroner’s report released on Friday.

But sheriff’s officials say the investigation into the accident has yet to be completed.
A previous post-mortem examination determined Paul Walker, 40, was killed by impact and injuries related to a fire.
The Los Angeles County coroner found that the driver, Roger Rodas, died from impact injuries alone.
Both men are said to have died within seconds of the crash, according to media reports.

Vin Diesel has reached out to fans on Facebook to reveal the movie will hit cinemas in April 2015, almost a year after its planned release date of July 2014.
The actor wrote: “There was a unique sense of completion, of pride we shared… in the film we were now completing … the magic captured… and, in just how far we’ve come…Fast and Furious 7 will be released April 10th 2015! P.s. He’d want you to know first.”
Vin Diesel also shared a photo of the last scene he and Paul Walker filmed together.
There is no evidence that the Porsche carrying Paul Walker and his friend, Roger Rodas, had mechanical issues before it crashed, investigators said.
The investigation also ruled out debris or other roadway conditions as causing the car in which Paul Walker was a passenger to careen into a light pole and tree.
“We’re looking at speed and speed alone,” a law enforcement official with knowledge of the investigation told The Associated Press. The official was not authorized to speak publicly about the investigation and spoke on condition of anonymity.

Investigators with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department have calculated a speed range at which they think the car was traveling but won’t firm up that number until Porsche engineers come to California next month to extract information from onboard data collectors. The official would not disclose that range.
Though the car exploded in flames after the crash, the data recorders survived and may produce information to pinpoint the speed.
The official told AP that the Porsche appeared to have negotiated a curve in the road just fine before crashing in an industrial park about 30 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles.
“They were well out of the curve when they lost control,” the official said.
Cody Walker, Paul Walker’s lookalike younger brother, could be under consideration to stand in for actor to finish Fast & Furious 7 movie.
Cody Walker, 25, may be under consideration for filming the deceased brother’s parts to finish up the final scenes for Fast & The Furious 7.
He works as a movie stuntman, and could take his brother’s place on the film after Paul Walker, 40, died November 30 in Santa Clarita, California, in a fatal car crash.

Paul Walker was on a break from filming the latest in movie franchise when he died, prompting Universal Pictures to immediately shut down production.
Universal Pictures had not commented on the possibility of using Cody Walker to stand in for his brother on the production.
“At this time we feel it is our responsibility to shut down production on <<Fast & Furious 7>> for a period of time so we can assess all options available to move forward with the franchise. We are committed to keeping Fast & Furious fans informed, and we will provide further information to them when we have it. Until then, we know they join us in mourning the passing of our dear friend Paul Walker,” Universal said.
Around 50 of Paul Walker’s friends and family gathered at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Los Angeles to pay their respects to the Fast and the Furious star, two weeks after the fiery car crash that killed him.
“A few people got up and gave tributes to Paul. It was hard for many people to talk, they were in tears and couldn’t finish what they were saying,” an eyewitness told Us Weekly.
The 40-minute service was a “somber” affair with a large picture of Paul Walker, who was 40 at the time of his death, standing on an easel and white flowers surrounding the gravesite.

A source close to Paul Walker’s family had earlier told TMZ that the funeral service would be a private affair, keeping in mind the actor’s 15-year-old daughter Meadow, who is devastated by the sudden death of her father. The family does not want Meadow to be surrounded by strangers at a time when she is grieving the loss.
However, the Fast & Furious cast and crew would be there, as they were like family to Paul Walker.
Universal Pictures had earlier announced that Fast & Furious 7 production would be halted following the demise of Paul Walker, who played a vital role in the franchise’s films.
Paul Walker’s relatives watched his final film, Hours, at a private screening in La Canada Flintridge, California.
“His family was very stoic,” a rep for the Eric Heisserer-directed film told Us Weekly.
“But they enjoyed the film and had a really lovely evening.”
Paul Walker’s 15-year-old daughter Meadow, however, did not attend the screening.

The Hours rep tells Us Weekly Meadow Walker and the actor’s father, Paul Walker III, already viewed the film at this year’s Southwest Film Festival.
In the film – which opens in theaters Friday, December 13 – Paul Walker plays a father who struggles to keep an infant daughter alive in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. For the role, Paul Walker drew from his own experiences with Meadow, who moved in with him last year after living with her mother (his ex-girlfriend) in Hawaii.
Film director Eric Heisserer told CNN: “I’d asked him to bring baby pictures of Meadow. During some of the scenes where there was just a monologue by him to give to the baby in the incubator, we set the baby photos in the incubator so he could connect with his daughter that way.”

It had been due to start at midday, but people arrived hours early to leave flowers, candles, stuffed animals and other tributes. A crowd of around 5,000 people had gathered by the afternoon.
Police said the event was mostly peaceful, although a man was arrested for carrying a partially hidden and loaded gun and there were several tickets issued for illegal parking.
The memorial concluded with a cruise through the area, 30 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles.

Fast & Furious 7 production has been put on hold after Paul Walker’s death
The lucrative Fast & Furious franchise became one of Hollywood’s biggest hits thanks to its reliable formula of high-speed chases, underground gangs and thrilling stunts and has starred Paul Walker in all but one installment.
Fast & Furious 6 became the highest-grossing film in the series to date, earning more than $788 million worldwide when it was released in May.
Its follow-up is scheduled for release in July 2014, and although Universal Pictures is expected to go forward with the film, it has not yet announced how it will handle Paul Walker’s unfinished performance.
A large portion of the car-racing movie has been shot since filming began in September, but it is currently incomplete.
Paul Walker starred in two further films that have yet to be released. Hurricane Katrina drama Hours, which the actor also produced, is being released in the US later this month.
Brick Mansions, a remake of the French action film District B13, is due for release early next year.
Paul Walker’s family has asked that donations be made to the late actor’s charity Reach Out Worldwide instead of flowers or gifts.

The film’s producer, Peter Safran, told the magazine: “He would have very much wanted us to move forward.”
Paul Walker was reprising his role as Brian O’Conner in Fast & Furious 7. He starred in five of the six movies in the popular franchise.
Paul Walker and Roger Rodas car crash was not the result of a street race, investigators have said.
While the neighborhood where Fast & Furious star Paul Walker died in a car crash on Saturday is known to attract street racers, law enforcement officials do not believe the Porsche he and his friend Roger Rodas were riding in had been racing another car.
Accident investigators “have received eyewitness statements that the car involved was traveling alone at a high rate of speed,” the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said in a written statement Monday.
“No eyewitness has contacted the (department) to say there was a second vehicle.”
Paul Walker, 40, and his friend and fellow fast-car enthusiast Roger Rodas, 38, died Saturday when Rodas’ 2005 Porsche Carrera GT smashed into a light pole and tree, then exploded in flames. The posted limit was 45 mph.
The two had taken what was expected to be a brief drive away from a charity fundraiser and toy drive at Roger Rodas’ custom car shop in the Southern California community of Valencia, about 30 miles northwest of Los Angeles. Paul Walker’s publicist said the action star was the passenger.
Paul Walker and Roger Rodas car crash was not the result of a street race
The crash happened on a street that forms an approximately 1-mile loop amid industrial office parks. It is rimmed by hills and relatively isolated from traffic, especially on weekends when the businesses are closed.
“It’s well-known out here that that’s a hot spot for street racers,” California Highway Patrol Sgt. Rick Miler said.
The sheriff’s department, which polices the neighborhood, said Saturday’s wreck was not the first speed-related crash there, but would not reveal specifics.
Meanwhile, investigators are consulting video from security cameras, talking to eyewitnesses and analyzing physical evidence such as on-board computer data from the Porsche.
A steady stream of fans has flocked to the crash site to leave flowers, candles and memorabilia from the action films.
On Monday night, a private memorial for survivors and the cast and crew of the Fast & Furious movies was held there inside a white tent erected around the crash site. When it was over, Paul Walker’s co-star Vin Diesel emerged to thank fans for paying their respect to the actor.
Officials have not named either person found in the car. The bodies were so badly burned by the fire that engulfed the wreck that dental records will be needed to confirm their identities.
Paul Walker and Roger Rodas had bonded over their shared love of fast cars.
Roger Rodas was a financial adviser as well as a professional driver who competed in 10 Pirelli World Challenge GTS races in 2013.
Paul Walker starred in all but one of the six Fast & Furious blockbusters. He had been on break from shooting the latest installment; Universal Pictures has not said what it plans to do with Fast & Furious 7, currently slated for July 2014 release.
Paul Walker and Roger Rodas’ autopsies are scheduled for Monday.
Fast & Furious actor Paul Walker and his friend Roger Rodas died in a fiery car crash over the weekend in the Santa Clarita Valley, California.
Authorities hope the autopsies will positively identify and determine the exact cause of death for Paul Walker and his race car enthusiast friend.

Paul Walker, 40, was a passenger in a red 2005 Porsche Carrera GT that crashed into a tree and then a light pole before bursting into flames around 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the 28300 block of Rye Canyon Loop in Valencia.
Both Paul Walker and Roger Rodas, 38, were declared dead at the scene.
Paul Walker is survived by his 15-year-old daughter, Meadow, and Roger Rodas is survived by his wife and two children.
Authorities are investigating whether Paul Walker’s car crash happened as the actor was involved in a street race.
Police are said to be looking for witnesses and possible video evidence that another car was involved in a street race with the Fast & Furious actor’s car.
The crash that killed Paul Walker may have had a lot more parallels to his film franchise than initially believed.
According to TMZ, authorities are investigating whether Paul Walker, 40, and his friend Roger Rodas – the former racecar driver behind the wheel of the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT when it crashed – were in the middle of a high speed competition with another car on Saturday afternoon.
It was suspected that speed contributed to the cause of the fiery crash, but a law enforcement source told TMZ that investigators received a tip about a possible race.

The Santa Clarita, California, street where the accident occurred is apparently known to be a popular spot for the law-breaking hobby, the website reported.
There were also reports that the Porsche may have malfunctioned shortly before the crash. Sources connected to Paul and Roger Rodas’ high-end car shop, Always Evolving, told TMZ that there could have been a fluid leak in the vehicle.
There was a “noticeable absence of skid marks” and no visible “swerving” leading up to the crash site, Always Evolving source told the website, suggesting Roger Rodas did not lose control of the car.
The fire also reportedly spread from “the front of the car,” the source said, apparently reinforcing the theory of a fluid leak.
Paul Walker and Roger Rodas died at the scene, police confirmed, and were reportedly burned “badly” after the car exploded into flames.
An autopsy on Paul Walker’s body has been delayed, a rep for the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office said, until dental records for both men are obtained to identify the “unidentifiable” bodies.
