Kanye West has been charged with battery and attempted theft over a fight with photographer Daniel Ramos at Los Angeles Airport in July.
Paparazzo Daniel Ramos sued Kanye West after the singer apparently punched him and threw his camera to the ground.
Lawyers for Kanye West said he had only been trying to prevent the photographer from taking his picture.
If found guilty, Kanye West faces a maximum penalty of six months in prison.

Prosecutors refused to press more serious felony charges because the alleged victim sustained only minor injuries.
The altercation took place on July 19 when several paparazzi, including Daniel Ramos, were waiting for the rapper’s arrival at the airport.
A video posted on celebrity news website TMZ purported to show Kanye West appearing visibly irritated by the photographers’ presence.
He is then said to have lunged at Daniel Ramos and tried to seize his equipment.
“When Kanye West attacked me, I was in complete shock,” Daniel Ramos told reporters.
“All I had done was ask him a question. I was terrified when Kanye started to come at me. I backed up because I felt from the look in his eyes that he was going to attack me.”
Daniel Ramos added that he had been forced to use crutches and a cane after the incident.
Kanye West’s arraignment has been set for October 10.
New reports claim that Kanye West may face a felony attempted robbery charge stemming from his Los Angeles airport altercation on Friday with a photographer.
Kanye West, 36, charged a paparazzo who was peppering him with questions upon his arrival at Los Angeles International Airport on Friday.
The photographer was taken to a hospital following the assault and told authorities that he wants to press charges against Kanye West, TMZ reports.
Police officers will refer the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office as a felony attempted robbery rather than the lesser charge of battery, according to the website.
The case has been transferred to the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division for investigation as police suspect Kanye West committed an attempted robbery when he struck the photographer and tried to take his camera. Prosecutors will ultimately decide which charges will be filed, if any.

Kanye West was surrounded by about five paparazzi who captured the incident and the singer left with his bodyguard in their car.
A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Airport Police said in a statement to X17online: “Today at approximately 2:00 p.m., at the Tom Bradley International Terminal [on the arrival level curbside], Los Angeles Airport Police officers were flagged down by a citizen [photographer] who alleged that he was taking pictures of an individual when he was battered by the subject.”
“The alleged subject was not at the location nor was he observed by officers at the scene.”
The statement added: “LAFD was notified, responded to the location and transported the victim to a local hospital for medical attention. A police report was taken by the Los Angeles Police Department and the investigation is ongoing.”
Kanye West has made no secret of his contempt for photographers and just last week he went on a furious rant while at the same airport after a snapper complimented his music.
“Don’t talk, don’t talk to me,” he said in the outburst while grabbing the camera.
However, Kanye West appears to be completely oblivious to the fact that his girlfriend and mother of his child, Kim Kardashian is a reality star who has made her name through constantly being photographed and followed by cameras.
Kim Kardashian, 32, and her family have allowed camera crews into their homes since their show Keeping Up With The Kardashians became a hit in 2007 following her tape scandal.
Since then, all members of the family have relied on reality television to acquire fame, actively seeking out press and publicity to enhance their careers.
However, it seems that Kanye West has had trouble adjusting to the lifestyle.
Sadly for the Kardashians, Kanye West’s violent outburst took place on the same day that Kim Kardashian’s mother Kris Jenner insisted that the rapper does not have a temper.

Justin Bieber is wanted for questioning by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s investigators after a paparazzo complained of being roughed up by the young pop star at a shopping center.
The scuffle allegedly happened when the photographer tried to snap pictures of the teen idol and his girlfriend Selena Gomez, after they walked out of a theater at The Commons at Calabasas yesterday.
Sheriff Lt. Robert Wiard says the photographer in question called 911 on Sunday and complained of pain to his chest.
Robert Wiard says the photographer was taken to a hospital where he was treated and released.
He says Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez left before deputies arrived, so investigators want to talk to him to get his side of the story.
During the altercation, Justin Bieber, 18, appeared angry and frustrated and girlfriend Selena Gomez appeared to be trying to reason with him.

TMZ claims that the paparazzo filed a police report, and alleges that according to law enforcement sources the police are investigating the incident as misdemeanour criminal battery.
While Justin Bieber failed to keep calm during the altercation, Selena Gomez, 19, was seen helping him retrieve his baseball cap and one of his high top trainers after they flew off during the incident.
Selena Gomez also appeared to be saying some soothing words to her beau as she chatted to him while tenderly stroking his arm to calm him down.
However the level-headed starlet did look a little concerned during the ordeal.
Meanwhile, Justin Bieber had a face like thunder as he put his shoe back on while being comforted by his girlfriend.
Justin Bieber then walked away with his head in his hands seeming somewhat embarrassed at his behavior.
The incident occurred as the pair was making their way to a cinema to enjoy a movie date.
Along with his plum-colored hat and trainers that had flown off, Justin Bieber was sporting an aquamarine T-shirt and black jeans.
And Selena Gomez looked summery in a printed monochrome maxi dress with a split up one side, which she teamed with brown sandals.
