Prince William and Kate Middleton’s lawyers have asked a photographer to “cease harassing” Prince George and his nanny.
A Kensington Palace statement said they were prompted to take action after the man was spotted near 14-month-old Prince George in a central London park.
The statement said: “No parent would tolerate the suspicion of someone pursuing and harassing their child and carer.”
Prince William and Kate Middleton are not taking legal action at this stage.
The man had been warned off last week by royal protection officers and that he had also been spoken to “over a number of years” about his behavior.

The Kensington Palace statement added: “There is reason to suspect that the individual may have been placing Prince George under surveillance and monitoring his daily routines for a period of time.
“The duke and duchess understand the particular public role that Prince George will one day inherit but while he is young, he must be permitted to lead as ordinary a life as possible.”
Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo was named as the prince’s nanny in March when the palace appealed for her privacy to be respected.
Since his birth in July 2013, Prince William and Kate Middleton have posed for a number of official photographs with Prince George.
Prince George has also been pictured accompanying his parents on state visits and with the palace’s consent at other events.
The Independent Press Standards Organization (IPSO) editors’ code of practice states that young children “must not be interviewed or photographed on issues involving their own or another child’s welfare unless a custodial parent or similarly responsible adult consents”.
IPSO replaced the defunct Press Complaints Commission last month.

Kanye West is being sued by photographer Daniel Ramos, who says the singer attacked him at Los Angeles International Airport.
Daniel Ramos, who was one of the paparazzi waiting for the rapper on July 19, says he was punched by Kanye West and was wrestled to the ground.
The lawsuit claims Daniel Ramos was a victim of assault, battery and negligence and that his civil rights were violated.

“I told him twice, <<I don’t want to fight you>>,” Daniel Ramos said.
“However, he attacked me anyway.”
Last week LA’s district attorney decided not to prosecute Kanye West, saying Daniel Ramos didn’t have a significant injury.
The rapper is due to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) this weekend for a record seventh time.
Kanye West will showcase his single Black Skinhead at the event on August 25 at Barclays Centre in Brooklyn, New York.

Khloe Kardashian proved that she was standing by Lamar Odom on Thursday in the wake of his public row with a photographer in the street.
Launching a foul-mouthed Twitter rant, Khloe Kardashian, 29, defended her husband just hours after he was filmed trashing a paparazzi’s car in a dramatic rampage.
Soon after the footage of the NBA star emerged, Khloe Kardashian was straight on her Twitter account to justify Lamar Odom’s actions, writing: “Wow can’t believe a paparazzi snuck into our gated area and violated our private property!!!!”
Clearly of the opinion that Lamar Odom had done nothing wrong despite the fact that he was caught throwing the photographer’s belongings into the street, Khloe Kardashian added: “This is the same pap that did a hit and run but my brother and I caught him and he has the nerve to taunt us!!! Be ashamed of your self.”

Khloe Kardashian’s anger then clearly escalated as she wrote a number of expletive-ridden posts to defend her man.
“F*** the papz!!!!! You f***ing losers!!!!! But shout out to my hubby for posing with the fans! I love my Lam!” the reality star wrote.

The incident came amid reports of marital trouble between Lamar Odom and wife Khloe Kardashian, after Jennifer Richardson, 29, coming forward to claim she had a year-long affair with him.

It came amid reports of marital trouble between the towering 6ft10 basketball player and his wife Khloe Kardashian, after a woman coming forward to claim she had a year-long affair with him.
Photographs show Lamar Odom, 33, rifling through the back of a car belonging to one of the photographers and furiously throwing his camera and equipment into the middle of the street.
Lamar Odom then walked over to another photographer’s car holding what looked like a tripod while the cameraman stood by, allegedly smashing the car.
He then proceeded to pick up the equipment from the middle of the street and put it in his own car, while carrying the metal rod.
Witnesses claimed Lamar Odom snapped after demanding to speak “man to man” with the paparazzi.
When they continued to take his photo, it is claimed, Lamar Odom turned on them.

A group of people in a celebrity tour bus happened to be driving past, and the delighted tourists stopped to watch and film the commotion.
Oddly a fan jumped out of her car after the incident to have her picture taken with the star – and taking a break from his rage he politely obliges.
Lamar Odom’s angry behavior is especially bizarre considering the fact he and his wife and her family are known for actively courting the press.
A publicist for the family did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding the photos.
However, sources close to Khloe Kardashian claim that the split rumors couldn’t be further from the truth.
“They’re more in love than ever,” a source explains.
They added: “Khloe did not kick Omar out of the house, they are 100% fine.”
According to Star magazine, Khloe Kardashian had kicked Lamar Odom out of the house after discovering he had been cheating on her since at least January last year.
The report named 29-year-old brunette Jennifer Richardson, who Lamar Odom supposedly met at the Stadium Club strip club in Washington D.C. after he played a game for the Dallas Mavericks.

Nick Lachey, who briefly dated Kim Kardashian in 2006 following his high-profile divorce from Jessica Simpson, suggested that the reality star used him to get famous.
When asked whether tabloid pictures of Nick Lachey and Kim Kardashian on one of their early dates marked the start of Kim’s career, the singer said: “That’s one way to interpret it. Let’s just say this: We went to a movie. No one followed us there. Somehow, mysteriously, when we left, there were 30 photographers waiting outside.”
Nick Lachey, 39, went on to suggest that Kim Kardashian, 32, had tipped off the paparazzi about their movie date on May 24, 2006.

Justin Bieber has called for new laws for paparazzi following the tragic death of photographer Chris Guerra who was run over and killed while taking pictures of the star’s sports car.
A 29-year-old freelance photographer, named byTMZ as Chris Guerra, was struck by a vehicle on Tuesday night after taking pictures of Justin Bieber’s white $200,000 Ferrari in Los Angeles.
Justin Bieber’s friend, 19-year-old rapper Lil Twist, was behind the wheel of the 458 Italia Ferrari when it was pulled over by police – prompting Chris Guerra to get out of his own car as he believed Bieber was in the vehicle.
Justin Bieber today released a statement in which he said his “thoughts and prayers” were with Chris Guerra’s friends and family.
In his statement, Justin Bieber said: “While I was not present nor directly involved with this tragic accident, my thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim.
“Hopefully this tragedy will finally inspire meaningful legislation and whatever other necessary steps to protect the lives and safety of celebrities, police officers, innocent public bystanders, and the photographers themselves.”
Chris Guerra was tailing Justin Bieber’s white Ferrari when it was pulled over by California Highway Patrol officers on an I-405 off ramp in L.A.
He got out of his car to take pictures but was struck by a Toyota Highlander SUV as he was running back to his own vehicle after being told to return to his vehicle repeatedly by police.
Photographs taken from the scene show the man’s hat and shoe lying in the road where he was hit.
It is believed the female driver of the car which struck the photographer stopped other cars from hitting the man’s body after she had called 911.
Freelance photographer Chris Guerra was struck by a vehicle on Tuesday night after taking pictures of Justin Bieber’s white $200,000 Ferrari in Los Angeles
Los Angeles police officer Sergeant Rudy Lopez said the highway patrol men had noticed the photographer taking pictures close to the scene. He said one of the officers asked him to return to his vehicle.
Sgt Rudy Lopez said: “He verbally ordered him to return to the vehicle, he had to order him twice and he seemed reluctant to go back, but eventually he did.
“When the photographer returned to the vehicle it did not appear that he was looking and he was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound.”
Chris Guerra died at a hospital shortly after the crash.
The sports car – which contained two of Justin Bieber’s friends, with rapper Lil Twist believed to be behind the wheel – was parked on the side of Sepulveda Boulevard near Getty Center Drive after the traffic stop.
According to sources, Lil Twist was hanging with Justin Bieber at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills on Tuesday afternoon when he left in the white Ferrari without Justin Bieber.
Lil Twist, who is a Lil Wayne protégé, and Justin Bieber have been hanging out and partying together for the past few weeks.
They even celebrated New Year’s Eve together by popping champagne bottles in Mexico, where they’re both of legal drinking age.
No charges are likely to be filed against the motorist – believed to be female – who hit Chris Guerra.
The LAPD is continuing to investigate Chris Guerra’s death.
According to TMZ, Chris Guerra claimed to friends earlier in the day that he had spotted Justin Bieber smoking what he believed to be marijuana from a pipe while driving the Ferrari.
A source said the photographer told him he was following the singer back to the Four Seasons and was continuing to pursue what he believed was a big story.
The source says after 20 minutes, Chris Guerra hung up as he said the Ferrari was pulling out of the hotel parking lot and he needed to hang up and follow it. Apparently he had no idea Justin Bieber in the car.
Justin Bieber had already been pulled over by police in his Ferrari while driving through West Hollywood in November. He was initially pulled over for making an unsafe left turn. During the stop, the officer discovered Justin Bieber’s registration was expired and he was given a ticket.
Justin Bieber had helped ring in the new year, performing on Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve on Monday night.
Reacting to the accident, former child star Miley Cyrus took to Twitter to call the paparazzi “fools”.
Miley Cyrus, now 20, tweeted: “Hope this paparazzi/JB accident brings on some changes in ’13 Paparazzi are dangerous! Wasn’t Princess Di enough of a wake up call?!
“It is unfair for anyone to put this on to Justin’s conscious as well! This was bound to happen! Your mom teaches u when your a child not to play in the street!
“The chaos that comes with the paparazzi acting like fools makes it impossible for anyone to make safe choices.”
