MTV has announced its nominations for the 2014 Brand New poll.
Sam Smith, The Vamps and Ella Eyre, who sings on Rudimental’s Waiting All Night, all appear in the list of acts predicted to be successful in the next 12 months.
Joel Compass, George Ezra and Kwabs also made the rundown.

The artists will go head-to-head in a public vote from December 16, with the winner being announced in February.
Electronic singer-songwriter Banks, Brighton duo Royal Blood and London-based pop singer Elyar Fox also feature on the list of British musicians set for big things in 2014.
Marie Naffah beat hundreds of other applicants to become the third unsigned competition winner to complete the MTV Brand New shortlist.
The 21-year-old singer has been compared to Florence Welch and Laura Marling.
Last year’s unsigned act, Ebony Day, topped the 2013 MTV Brand New poll.
Ebony Day beat the likes of Angel Haze, Tom Odell, Kodaline and Gabrielle Aplin to claim the prize.
Past nominees include Haim, Lay Gaga, Justin Bieber and Tinie Tempah.
Miley Cyrus broke her silence to speak out about her VMA’s performance, which included grinding up against Thicke and touching the R&B singer seductively with a foam finger.
In an interview with MTV, Miley Cyrus, 20, compared herself to Madonna and Britney Spears, who also made headlines when they locked lips during a passionate on air kiss 10 years ago at the 2003 VMAs.
Miley Cyrus also revealed that Thicke was very much aware of what he was in for, and that they both knew “they were about to make history”.
Speaking to MTV News in an exclusive interview, Miley Cyrus said: “I don’t pay attention to the negative because I have seen this play out. How many times have we seen this play out in pop music?
“You know now… you know what’s happened. Madonna’s done it, Britney’s done it. Every VMA performance, anyone that performs…that’s what you are looking for.

“You wanting to make history. Me and Robin the whole time said <<You know you are about to make history right now?>>.”
Miley Cyrus also added that she loved the fact that people were still talking about the raunchy show.
“It is an amazing thing that I think now it is three days later and people are still talking about it,” she gushed.
And for all of those critics out there, Miley Cyrus simply believes that they are just “over thinking it”.
“They’re over thinking it. You’re thinking more about it than when I did it. Like I didn’t even think about it because that is just me,” the singer said.
The former Disney star has been a hot topic of conversation for days after her extremely raunchy performance at MTV’s Video Music Awards.
Miley Cyrus was seen twerking on Thicke during a duet of his hit Blurred Lines, while wearing latex and repeatedly sticking out her tongue.
She is currently drumming up publicity for her new album Bangerz, and released promotional images for the record last week.
Miley Cyrus’ new album is set for release in the U.S. on October 8 and includes her hit single We Can’t Stop and her new song Wrecking Ball.
MTV has decided to stop filming its reality show Buckwild after Shain Gandee was found dead in his truck with his uncle and another man in a mud pit close to his West Virginia home.
A close friend of Shain Gandee’s found the bodies of the Buckwild castmember, his uncle David Gandee, 48, and Donald Robert Myers, 27, after they had left a bar in Sissonville at about 3am on Sunday morning.
Buckwild star Shain Gandee was found dead in his truck with his uncle and another man in a mud pit close to his West Virginia home
Shain Gandee’s Ford Bronco was found more than a day later, partially submerged in deep mud off a dirt road, about a mile away from the reality star’s home.
Shooting for the second season of Buckwild had begun prior to the accident.
It is believed that the three men died of carbon monoxide poisoning, but autopsy results are pending.
Now struck with funeral costs, Shain Gandee’s family has organized a fundraiser to cover burial expenses.
According to TMZ , his cousin Ashley is putting together an off-road trucking event to raise money for the Gandee family.
After news of his death yesterday, Gandee’s fellow castmates wrote Twitter tributes to their friend, while some of the Jersey Shore stars also used the social networking site to share their condolences.
Cara Parrish, Shain Gandee’s love interest on Buckwild, tweeted: “This is the emptiest I’ve ever felt. Please pray for [Shain Gandee’s parents] Dale and Loretta.”
Jenny “JWOWW” Farley posted: “That’s awful that shain passed… He was just a baby.”
The cause of death is not yet known, although no foul play is suspected.
Sourced told TMZ that carbon monoxide poisoning is being explored as a possible cause of death.
If the truck’s exhaust pipe had been blocked by mud, the deadly gas may have seeped into the vehicle.
Buckwild, in which Shain is nicknamed Gandee Candy, has been dubbed the “Redneck Jersey Shore”.
The reality show follows Shain Gandee, 21, and eight other young adults in Virginia, all of whom love small-town American life.
Shain Gandee in particular shunned cell phones and social media, and was happiest when he was hunting and four-wheeling, according to the West Virginia Gazette.
The star’s father told Buckwild producers that his son “died doing what he loved”, according to ABC News.
Bobby Brown says he trusts his daughter Bobbi Kristina will not make the same mistakes he did.
Bobby Brown, 43, and Whitney Houston have both struggled with drug addiction and although their daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown has been forced to deny rumors she has also been abusing illegal drugs.
The singer believes his daughter is ”smart enough” not to follow in his footsteps.
Bobby Brown told MTV: ”Any parent that has a teenager in their life, they go through things. They go through phases that they might not be doing exactly what you want them to do in life, but they grow out of it, and my baby girl has grown out of it. I trust and believe that she’s smart enough to not go down the same road that maybe I did in the past or her mother did in the past. She’s extremely smart.”

Bobbi Kristina Brown is now focusing on launching an acting and music career since her mother died of accidental drowning caused by cardiac failure after taking cocaine in February and her dad is extremely proud of his daughter.
Bobby Brown said: ”That’s my baby girl. She’ll forever be my baby girl. She’s doing what she’s doing, and I’m extremely proud of her. She’s acting and she’s working on music and she’s doing what she has to do to recover from her loss – our loss.”
While father and daughter have a difficult relationship, Bobby Brown has denied reports that Bobbi Kristina wants to ditch the surname Brown.
Bobby Brown said: ”She can’t change her last name, her name is her name. She’ll forever be known as Bobbi Kristina Brown. There’s no changing that, there’s no taking that back.”
The 28th Annual MTV Video Music Awards (VMA 2011), held in Los Angeles at the Nokia Theatre on Sunday August 28, will pay tribute to Amy Winehouse, who died one month ago.
Amy Winehouse never appeared on the MTV Video Music Awards during her short but celebrated career, but it was announced as news of a tribute to Amy on this Sunday at MTV VMA 2011.
Amy Winehouse has hit another milestone following her tragic death as second album, Back to Black, has become the best-selling album of the 21st century in UK.
Britain’s Official Chart Company announced the further success of her Grammy-award winning album, which includes the singles “Rehab” and “Love Is a Losing Game”, and said it had overtaken James Blunt’s 2005 debut album, “Back to Bedlam”, to claim the crown.
Tony Bennett, who spent time recording with Amy in March this year, will lead the tribute to Amy Winehouse and introduce never-seen-before footage of their time together at London’s famous Abbey Road Studios.
Amy Winehouse last known recording session was with the 85-year-old crooner. The duo recorded Body and Soul for Bennett’s upcoming album, Duets II, which is released on September 20.
There are also rumors that Amy Winehouse’s parents might attend the show, but MTV’s officials could not confirm their appearance.
Singer Tony Bennett said: “It was a thrill to record with Amy Winehouse.”
“And when you listen to the recording of Body and Soul, it is a testament to her artistic genius and her brilliance as one of the most honest musicians I have ever known.”
VMA 2011 will pay tribute to Amy Winehouse, who has hit another milestone following her tragic death, as second album "Back to Black" has become the best-selling album of the 21st century in UK
The tribute to Amy Winehouse at VMA 2011 will likely be the rare moment of reverence in a show that is calculated to be as irreverent as possible.
This year, the current queen of sexy daffiness, Katy Perry, is poised to be the belle of MTV’s annual ball: She’s up for a leading 10 moonman trophies, including video of the year for her inspirational “Firework”.
Another star set to be celebrated at VMA 2011 is pop star, Britney Spears.
At the age of 29, it is rather unusual for the singer to be presented with a special tribute award, but her fellow pop stars obviously disagree.
Madonna, Britney Spears’ friend will present the award, as Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj and Janet Jackson, will combine their talents to perform a spectacular musical tribute.
Britney Spears will also take to the stage herself to perform recent hits, “Hold It Against Me” and “I Wanna Go”.
It has been reported that the tribute, which is normally given to artists of an older age and longer career, has been arranged to ensure that Britney actually turns up to the event.
An insider speaking to RadarOnline.com said: “Britney’s young to receive an award like this, but the producers know that it will force Britney to come to the show.”
Other talent that has been added to the star-studded line up include Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Lil Wayne, Pitbull, Bruno Mars, Chris Brown, whose star continues to brighten two years after it was tarnished by his attack on Rihanna, and soulful singer, Adele.
Adele is also a top nominee, being the year’s best-selling artist so far with her album “21”. She is nominated for seven awards for “Rolling in the Deep”.

Kanye West also has seven nominations. He is not expected to perform at the VMA 2011.
VMA 2011 show is being held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles and broadcast live on MTV from 9 to 11 p.m.
MTV President Stephen Friedman said some VMA 2011 performers from the East Coast arrived in Los Angeles early to avoid the storm and resulting airport disruptions. But he was hopeful viewer disruption would be minimal.
“Our hope is our audience is cuddled up with their family and friends and don’t want to be outside and want to watch the best night in music,” he said.
