Kanye West said he will run for president in 2020 as he received the lifetime achievement award at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.

During his rambling speech, Kanye West said: “I have decided in 2020 to run for president.”

Cheered on by his wife Kim Kardashian, Kanye West got an extended standing ovation when he was picking up the Video Vanguard lifetime achievement award.

The rapper also appeared to confess to smoking weed before taking the stage.

“I will die for the art, for what I believe in and I ain’t always gonna be polite.

Taylor Swift was crowned queen of the MTV Video Music Awards.

She won four of her 10 nominations, including Video of the Year for Bad Blood with Kendrick Lamar and Best Pop Video for Blank Space.

She also buried the hatchet with rapper Nicki Minaj, embracing her former rival on stage during a brief version of Bad Blood.

The show was hosted by Miley Cyrus.

Miley Cyrus released her new album for free after coming off stage.

Kanye West is being sued by photographer Daniel Ramos, who says the singer attacked him at Los Angeles International Airport.

Daniel Ramos, who was one of the paparazzi waiting for the rapper on July 19, says he was punched by Kanye West and was wrestled to the ground.

The lawsuit claims Daniel Ramos was a victim of assault, battery and negligence and that his civil rights were violated.

“I told him twice, <<I don’t want to fight you>>,” Daniel Ramos said.

“However, he attacked me anyway.”

Last week LA’s district attorney decided not to prosecute Kanye West, saying Daniel Ramos didn’t have a significant injury.

The rapper is due to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) this weekend for a record seventh time.

Kanye West will showcase his single Black Skinhead at the event on August 25 at Barclays Centre in Brooklyn, New York.

It seems Amber Rose has used 2012 MTV Video Music Awards to announce her own happy news to the world: she’s expecting.

Amber Rose, 28, dressed more modestly than usual in a full-length fitted black lace gown, put a tender hand on her growing stomach as she joined fiancé, rapper Wiz Khalifa, on the red carpet.

With her blonde crop slicked with a deep side part, Amber Rose went for a monochromatic make-up look, her platinum hair blending in to her milky complexion and smile swathed with a nude shade of lipstick.

She lined her eyes in charcoal black and wore only a pair of stud earrings and her glittering engagement ring from Wiz Khalifa.

Wiz Khalifa held the hand of his bride-to-be in a three-piece suit he accented with gold jewelry and a pair of dark sunglasses.

Twenty-four-year-old Wiz Khalifa, whose real name Cameron Jibril Thomaz, announced they set to wed in March when he posted on Twitter: “She Said Yes!!!”

Amber Rose, who catapulted to fame while dating Kanye West, then posted a snap of her stunning oval-shaped diamond ring to her own page and said she was the “happiest woman in the world”.

However, online reports claim the budding pregnancy means Amber Rose and rapper Wiz Khalifa may tie the knot sooner than they originally intended.

They have now moved the date to October rather than the winter nuptials they had planned.

The couple has played coy on the rumors, and recently Wiz Khalifa told MTV.com: “I’m saying here that is not what people think it is. But, she will have my baby in life, and you guys will know when she’s pregnant. But it’s not the time now for people to start going crazy.”

While the pregnancy was apparently not planned the couple is reportedly delighted to have a little one on the way.

Meanwhile, a source told RadarOnline: “Amber and Wiz unexpectedly got pregnant, but they’re really happy to be starting a family together.”

Amber Rose’s baby is due in January, according to reports; it will be the first child for the couple.

The couple’s appearance yesterday follows last year’s dramatic unveiling by Beyoncé, who set a tweets-per-second record on Twitter when she revealed at the VMAs she and husband Jay-Z were expecting after a high-energy performance of Love On Top, which she finished with a drop of the mic, freeing a hand to open her jacket and rub her rounded stomach.

Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa could have more than a baby on the way to celebrate depending on how this evening goes – the rapper is up for Best Pop Video for his collaboration with Maroon 5, Payphone. The pair is facing off against One Direction (What Makes You Beautiful), Fun. feat. Janelle Monae (We Are Young), Rihanna (We Found Love) and Justin Bieber (Boyfriend) in the category.

Rihanna appeared at last night’s MTV VMAs to finally confirm the rumors of rekindling her relationship with Chris Brown are true.

As she exited the stage at the star-studded event after collecting her Video Of The Year award, Rihanna, 24, was stopped by former boyfriend Chris Brown as he congratulated her.

Rihanna and Chris Brown were seen kissing on the lips, before hugging tenderly, with Chris’ arm looking slightly proprietorial around her waist.

The images of Rihanna and Chris Brown, 23, are sure to spark rumors among the singers’ fans that the pair have decided to give their relationship another go.

Rihanna and Chris Brown’s tender display comes after she admitted to Oprah Winfrey that she still considers Chris to be the “love of her life”, despite the fact that she took a restraining order out against the singer after he was charged with assault after hitting her at a pre-Grammy party in 2009.

His vicious assault, which led to Rihanna being hospitalized, led to him receiving five years of probation as a result.

But Rihanna told Oprah Winfrey that since the restraining order was dropped in February 2011, the pair have been working on their friendship.

She said: “I think he is the love of my life. He was my first love. Now we’re very close friends. And that’s not anything we’re going to try to change.

“It’s awkward because I still love him. My stomach drops and I have to maintain this poker face and not let it get to the outer part of me. I have to maintain it and suppress it. When you don’t understand those feelings you can make a lot of mistakes.”

At the time of making the comments, Rihanna was single while Chris Brown has been dating model Karrueche Tran.

At last night’s VMAs, both artists took home awards, with Rihanna being named Video of the Year for We Found Love, and Chris winning Best Male Video and Best Choreography for Turn Up The Music.

Chris Brown’ win is likely to please the singer even more as he was up against rival Drake for the prize.

The RnB singer seemed more than a little delighted to have scored his victory following his infamous brawl with Drake in a New York nightclub in June.

When Chris Brown took to the stage he said: “First and foremost, I want to thank Team Breezy, Riveting Entertainment because this is my first time actually being able to direct a video by myself.”

However, Drake did not walk away empty handed after losing out on the big award for Take Care. Instead, he won the lightly regarded Best Hip-Hop Video award instead.

Meanwhile, the show’s host Kevin Hart made light of Drake and Chris Brown’s brawl at the W.i.P club that left eight people injured, including San Antonio Spurs player Tony Parker, who later said he nearly lost his left eye.

He said: “Right now you guys are arguing over a mistake. You’re arguing over a thrown bottle in the club.

“Drake is from Canada. Drake loves to recycle. Drake thought there was a recycle bin in Chris’s section.”

The cameras showed 25-year-old Drake laughing heartily at the quips.

However, he may not be laughing for long, as he and Chris Brown have been hit with a $16 million lawsuit over the incident by the clubs owners, who lost their licence following the melee.

“I love you guys! This is awesome,” said Rihanna, as she collected her trophy.

On her way from collecting the prize she was congratulated by her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, who previously pleaded guilty to assaulting the pop star before the Grammy Music Awards in 2009.

Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong also appeared at the ceremony, where he was mobbed after inviting fans to come up on stage.

Billie Joe Armstrong looked fully recovered after being taken to hospital earlier in the week.

Alicia Keys was joined on stage by Olympic gymnast Gabby Ross, who back-flipped while the singer performed her new single Girl On Fire.

Performers also took the opportunity to crowd surf, with Taylor Swift, Lil Wayne and host Kevin Hart all diving off the stage.

New reports claim that Kanye West has pulled out of the MTV Video Music Awards in the last moment because of Kim Kardashian.

Kanye West, 35, cancelled his appearance after deciding he didn’t want to attend tonight’s ceremony in Los Angeles without his girlfriend Kim Kardashian by his side.

Kim Kardashian, 31, had a prior engagement at Fashion’s Night Out in New York at NY Fashion Week, where she will be promoting her True Reflection perfume at Lord & Taylor.

A source told Daily Mail: “Kim’s in New York for her fragrance launch and Kanye didn’t want to go to the VMAs if she couldn’t be there.”

Kanye West’s song Mercy featuring Pusha T, Big Sean & 2 Chainz is up for Best Hip-Hop Video and Best Editing. He was not scheduled to perform.

The rapper famously made headlines at the Video Music Awards in 2009 when he interrupted Taylor Swift’s speech, after she won the award for Best Female Video, to insist Beyonce Knowles should have won.

Earlier this week, this year’s host Kevin Hart threatened to put a seat-belt on Kanye West so he didn’t storm the stage again.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have been almost inseparable since they began dating six months and on The View yesterday she described him as her “perfect match”.

The reality star also revealed she’s eager to start a family, saying she “definitely” sees children in her future.

Rihanna has decided to update her look once again, going for one of her most drastic changes yet with a super-short cropped hairdo.

Rihanna, 24, showcased her new style as she arrived at the Staples Center in Los Angeles ahead of the MTV Video Music Awards tonight (Thursday).

The incredibly short look is a sharp contrast to the long wavy hair Rihanna has been sporting in recent weeks.

However, it’s not the first time Rihanna has tried out a more androgynous look with her barnet, as she previously sported a crop for her role as Cora Raikes in blockbuster movie Battleship earlier this year.

Rihanna also had a shorter do back in 2009, but the style was longer on top giving it a more feminine feel. The new look is undoubtedly the shortest Rihanna has ever had her hair.

Surprisingly, Rihanna made no mention of her new look on her Twitter page, where she usually keeps fans regularly updated with any changes in her appearance.

Rihanna works with celebrity stylist Ursula Stephen to come up with inventive new ideas for her hair. And in a recent interview, Ursula Stephen explained how they go about coming up with a new concept.

She said: “We are always changing it up, experimenting, and having fun with hair. That’s what I love to do!

“Her hairstyle typically changes depending on what’s on our agenda, what she’s wearing, or how she’s feeling.

“We take it day by day and event by event, and usually will both bring ideas to the table. It’s always a collaboration, which is such a great way to work.”

The new look comes ahead of Rihanna’s highly-anticipated performance at tonight’s VMA awards, where the singer will open the show with a rendition of new track Cockiness (Love It), alongside A$AP Rocky.

Other performances at the event will come from stars including Nicki Minaj, 2 Chainz, Taylor Swift and Frank Ocean.

As she arrived for rehearsals, Rihanna looked excited about the upcoming event, and waved eagerly at her waiting fans.

The singer dressed down in a Céline T-shirt, jeans and a pair of colourful Cleveland Cavalier-edition Air Jordan #4’s as she made her way into the venue.

However, Rihanna’s fans are sure to be waiting with bated breath to see what outrageous costume the singer pulls out of the bag for her VMA performance.

As well as taking to the stage at the event, Rihanna is up for five awards including Video of The Year, Best Pop Video and Best Female Video.

Beyoncé has announced that she is expecting her first baby at the MTV Video Music Awards 2011.

Beyoncé, 29, made the surprising announcement by revealing her baby bump on the red carpet at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night.

She worn a long orange dress by Lanvin and clutched her visible bump while was telling the press: “I have a surprise!”

Beyoncé didn’t let her pregnancy prevent her from bringing the house down with an energetic performance.

The singer cheered on her husband Jay-Z, who performed new single Otis with Kanye West, before taking to the stage herself.

Beyoncé took the stage in a purple glittery blazer and black trousers by Dolce & Gabbana and said:

“I want you to feel the love that’s growing inside of me.”

After she performed Love On Top, which attracted a standing ovation from the audience, Beyoncé ripped open her jacket and proudly rubbed her baby bump.

In the next moment, cameras moved on the audience, where Jay-Z was beaming, as his friend Kanye West jumped up and down, smacking the future father on the back and shaking him.

Beyoncé performed two weeks ago at the Roseland Ballroom in New York and covered up her stomach with a special costume that draped lightly across her protruding bump.

“Now I’m a woman, and because I gave it my all, I can focus on my marriage,” she said.

“I can decide I want to have kids. I can be the mother I want to be and dedicate myself to my children.”

Beyoncé, who married rapper Jay-Z in 2008, said during an interview she gave two months ago:

“I always said I was going to have a baby at 30. I’m 29 now.”

“But I also said I was going to retire at 30. So I don’t know,’ she said, adding: “I am not retiring, I tell you.”

And she continued: “Only God knows, only God knows.”
