Dolly Parton has announced that her charity, Dollywood Foundation, will donate $1,000 a month to families affected by devastating wildfires in Tennessee.
The 70-year-old country music legend said she would provide help “until they get back up on their feet”.
“I’ve always believed that charity begins at home,” Dolly Parton said in a video statement.
According to authorities, at least seven people have been killed in the fires in Sevier County, Tennessee, and around the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Dolly Parton’s foundation has set up a fund where people can donate to help victims of the fires.
“I know it’s been a trying time for my people, and this assistance will help,” the singer said.
The wildfires came to the doorstep of Dollywood, Dolly Parton’s theme park in Pigeon Forge, Sevier County.
A spokesman said guests were evacuated from some of its properties, and that several cabins and holiday structures were damaged.
Around 45 people have been treated in hospital as a result of the wildfires, and over 700 buildings have been damaged.
Mandatory evacuations are under way around Gatlinburg, a city 7 miles southeast of Pigeon Forge.
Dolly Parton appeared in a public service advertisement on November 27, asking people nearby to take steps to avoid spreading the fire.
Later, the singer spoke of her misery at the toll the blazes had taken.
“I have been watching the terrible fires in the Great Smoky Mountains, and I am heartbroken.
“I am praying for all the families affected by the fire – and the firefighters who are working so hard to keep everyone safe,” Dolly Parton said.
Meanwhile, Miley Cyrus, also a Tennessee native, sent her sympathies and support to Dolly Parton and the people of the state in an Instagram post.
Sharing a picture of the pair performing together, Miley Cyrus wrote: “Love my fairy god mother @dollyparton and sending protective energy to the ever so sacred Dollywood and all of the homes/folks in TN who are experiencing this devastating fire!”
Dollywood will remain closed until 14:00 local time on December 2, while the Great Smoky Mountains – the most visited national park in the US – said it had closed all park facilities and many trails.
There is also concern for more than 10,000 animals at an aquarium in Gatlinburg, after all employees were evacuated.
The building is still standing, but “workers are anxious to return to check on the animals”, the general manager of Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies, Ryan DeSears, told local media.
According to Tennessee’s Department of Agriculture, 26 active fires have burned nearly 12,000 acres across the state.
Facebook has activated its safety check feature.
Neighboring Georgia, as well as North and South Carolina, are also battling wildfires after months of drought.
Miley Cyrus surprised the South by Southwest’s audience by featuring a slew of rappers, including her producer Mike WiLL Made-It on March 19.
Miley Cyrus, 22, appeared to be the only woman on the stage, which was packed with nearly 20 people jumping up and down, left and right.
Rappers including Future, Riff Raff, the duo Rae Sremmurd and the group Two-9 were onstage at The Fader Fort alongside Miley Cyrus. Others ranged from hype men to cameramen to people shooting toy guns full of water and confetti into the audience.
Miley Cyrus rapped her portion on the song 23, Mike WiLL Made-It’s 2013 hit that also starred Wiz Khalifa and Juicy J.
She then performed her anthemic We Can’t Stop, which Mike WiLL Made-It produced.
Miley Cyrus also recited some of Nicki Minaj’s part on Rae Sremmurd’s song Throw Sum Mo.
Miley Cyrus has revealed that she can’t spell the last name of her boyfriend Patrick Schwarzenegger.
It’s been three months since Miley Cyrus and Patrick Schwarzenegger started dating but the singer admits there’s one thing about their relationship she just can’t get the hang of – Patrick’s last name.

Miley Cyrus is reportedly dating British actor Douglas Booth.
Miley Cyrus, 21, was first rumored to be romancing Douglas Booth in 2010 when they co-starred in teen drama LOL and the pair met up on August 29 at Soho House in Los Angeles, re-igniting the gossip.
An insider told Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper: “Miley and Douglas looked very intimate with each other on Friday night. There was a lot of laughing and flirting. They’re both single and have always been attracted to each other.”
Miley Cyrus was first rumored to be romancing Douglas Booth in 2010 when they co-starred in teen drama LOL
“It has been a while since they were really close on the set of <<LOL>>. They had lots to catch up on and it has reminded them of the special friendship they once shared. Plus Miley’s into the idea of dating a British guy.”
Miley Cyrus called off her engagement to Australian actor Liam Hemsworth in September 2013.
Miley Cyrus talked about her relationship with ex-fiancé Liam Hemsworth a year after they officially broke up in September 2013.
At the time Liam Hemsworth, 24, was seeing his star rise in two hit Hunger Games films as the conflicted Gale Hawthorne, and Miley Cyrus, 21, was in the middle of her craziest year with the release of her album Bangerz, her world tour, and her new wild child post-VMAs image.

In a new interview with Australia’s Sunday Night television show, Miley Cyrus hinted that there will always be something between her and Liam Hemsworth.
“I love Liam; Liam loves me,” Miley Cyrus told Sunday Night.
When asked about her hit ballad Wrecking Ball, believed by many to be about Liam Hemsworth, Miley Cyrus responded: “It’s about finding yourself. I had to set myself free.”
This year’s MTV Video Music Awards show was closed by Beyonce with an epic nearly 20-minute performance.
Beyonce was joined onstage by her husband Jay-Z and daughter Blue Ivy which brought her to tears, amid numerous divorce rumors.
The singer accepted the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award at The Forum in Inglewood, California.
Beyonce’s performance easily outdid her competition throughout the night, though she lost video of the year, which instead went to a teary Miley Cyrus who let a homeless man accept her award for video of the year.
It was in sharp contrast to the 2013 VMAs, when Miley Cyrus twerked and danced shockingly onstage.
“Thank y’all, my name is Jesse and I accepting this award on behalf of the 1.6 million runaways and homeless youth in the United States who are starving, lost and scared for their lives right now. I know this because I am one of these people,” the man said, as Miley Cyrus looked on.
“Though I may have been invisible to you in the streets, I have a lot of the same dreams that brought many of you here tonight.”
Miley Cyrus’ decision to let someone else accept her award to promote a cause was reminiscent of Marlon Brando’s 1973 Academy Awards best actor win, when he gave a Native American activist the stage rather than accept his Oscar trophy.

The most shocking moment of the VMA show was Nicki Minaj’s rump-shaking during her performance of Anaconda. In the show’s first minutes Nicki Minaj suffered a wardrobe malfunction when she joined Ariana Grande and Jessie J for Bang, Bang.
Taylor Swift was a crowd favorite when she performed her new single Shake It Off in shimmery shorts and a crop top.
Ariana Grande, who held hands with rapper Big Sean backstage, kicked off the show with a performance of her EDM hit, Break Free in a Beyonce-inspired leotard. The 21-year-old won best pop video for her smash single Problem, but lost best female video to Katy Perry, who won for the hit Dark Horse.
Katy Perry sported a figure-hugging denim dress and was joined by Riff Raff in a coordinating outfit, mirroring Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears at the 2001 American Music Awards.
The night featured a serious social message along with the performances. Rapper-actor Common held a moment of silence for Michael Brown, the unarmed 18-year-old who was fatally shot by a police officer on August 9, before he presented the award for best hip-hop video.
“Hip-hop has always been about truth and has been a powerful instrument of social change, from Melle Mel to Public Enemy to Kendrick Lamar,” Common said.
“Hip-hop has always been presented a voice for the revolution.”
Later, a 15-second spot aired alluding to the shooting in Ferguson, Missouri, urging viewers to take action to eliminate bias.
“Not everything that is faced can be changed; but nothing can be changed until it is faced,” a quote by author James Baldwin read on the screen.
Lorde won best rock video for Royals and Ed Sheeran won best male video, beating out Pharrell Williams, Eminem, John Legend and Sam Smith, who was a show highlight with his smoldering performance of his hit Stay With Me.
Iggy Azalea and Rita Ora appeared onstage as spider women when they performed their hit Black Widow, as Taylor Swift, Lorde and Charli XCX danced and sang along.

A Los Angeles judge granted Miley Cyrus the order against 24-year-old Devon Meek on Friday. Miley Cyrus’ court filing states that the Sierra Vista man believes the singer is communicating to him through her songs.
According to the documents, Los Angeles police took Devon Meek into custody on May 16 and he was placed under a psychiatric hold. The docs say Devon Meek was arrested outside a property he believed is owned by Miley Cyrus, but the documents don’t specify the location.
A police detective wrote in a sworn statement that Devon Meek told officers they should shoot him in the head if he couldn’t meet Miley Cyrus.
During a London concert on Friday, Miley Cyrus revealed she wrote her hit Wrecking Ball to seek out revenge on a former partner.
She took to the stage for a top secret show at G-A-Y in London and spoke about how she penned Wrecking Ball after having her heart broken, sparking speculation she was talking about Liam Hemsworth, from whom she split last year.
Miley Cyrus revealed she wrote her hit Wrecking Ball to seek out revenge on a former partner
“I wrote this song after somebody broke my heart, and I just wanted to say <<F*** you>>,” she told the audience.
“I wanted to write a No. 1 hit, something that would be on the radio. I wanted to make sure every time he turned on his radio, he would hear my song and will keep hearing it for the rest of his life.”
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth had become engaged in 2012 after meeting on the set of The Last Song in 2009.
Miley Cyrus has been forced to cancel this weekend’s Amsterdam concert after suffering a “health setback”, E! Online reported.
Miley Cyrus was admitted to a medical center in Kansas City after suffering a bad reaction to medication she had been taking for a sinus infection
Miley Cyrus, 21, was admitted to a medical center in Kansas City, Missouri on April 15 after suffering a bad reaction to medication she had been taking for a sinus infection. She was discharged last week and planned on getting back on the road after having to postpone the remaining portion of her North American Bangerz tour.
The singer was due to take the stage in Amsterdam on Friday, but the show will now be rescheduled, the report says.
A source told the publication: “(She) had a health setback and her allergic reaction issues have returned. Miley is very bummed about it.”
Miley Cyrus is also expected to postpone her show at the Sportpaleis in Antwerp, Belgium, on Sunday.
Miley Cyrus had to cancel a second show after doctors decided to keep her in hospital.
Miley Cyrus, 21, already canceled a concert in Kansas City, Missouri, on Tuesday night after she was admitted to a medical facility and diagnosed with an allergic reaction to antibiotics.
The singer was due to perform at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis on Wednesday night, but she confirmed she is not well enough to be discharged from hospital and urged fans not to travel to the venue.

Miley Cyrus wrote in a series of Twitter posts: “I can’t get a hold of my team because it is so early so I want to be the one to tell my fans especially the ones trekking to get there… The hospital is sayin (sic) I won’t b (be) released today… therefore I’m not going 2 (to) make it 2 St Louis. I’m so sorry but somethings are outta my control.”
She made the announcement after a female fan revealed she was about to set off on a long journey to get to the show in St. Louis, prompting Miley Cyrus to reply: “Babe as of right now I’m still in the hospital… I just don’t want any of my fans to (be) p**sed off or disappointed.”
The concert in St. Louis marks the third cancellation on Miley Cyrus’ Bangerz tour since it kicked off in February.
Miley Cyrus and Justin Timberlake may be forced to cancel their sell-out shows in Finland as a result of US sanctions against Russia.
Helsinki’s Hartwall venue is owned by Gennady Timchenko and brothers Arkady and Boris Rotenberg.
All three appear on the US sanctions list as part of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s “inner circle”.
Helsinki’s Hartwall venue is due to host Justin Timberlake in May and Miley Cyrus in June.
Other acts due to appear this summer include Robbie Williams, Peter Gabriel, Aerosmith and Elton John.
Gennady Timchenko is a co-founder of Russian oil trader Gunvor and was estimated by Forbes magazine to be worth $15.3 billion before the sanctions came into force last month.
Arkady and Boris Rotenberg are the billionaire co-owners of SMP Bank and childhood friends of President Vladimir Putin.
Helsinki’s Hartwall venue is due to host Miley Cyrus in June
The three men are among a list of 27 individuals named by the US as being closely tied to President Vladimir Putin personally or politically.
Together, the three own events management company Arena Events Oy, which bought the Helsinki Hartwall Arena last year, as well as taking a minority stake in the local hockey club, Jokerit.
Arena Events Oy is managed by Boris Rotenberg’s son Roman.
Under the US sanctions no American citizen or business can provide Gennady Timchenko or the Rotenberg brothers with “economic resources”, effectively preventing business from being conducted with them.
But the concerts’ US ticket promoter, Live Nation, could apply to the US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), part of the Treasury Department, for a license to authorize the transaction.
Live Nation said it was currently reviewing its portfolio and would work to ensure the US sanctions were upheld.
Tom Stocker, partner at law firm Pinsent Mason, said much depended on whether any money was still to be paid to the venue.
If not, Tom Stocker, the concerts could go ahead as planned. But if money was still owed to the venue it was possible the concerts could be cancelled.
“OFAC will need to provide a license to authorize the transaction and will have to take into account that the show forms part of a pre-existing agreement,” he said.
“But it has quite a wide discretion to grant licenses. If this was Europe then a license would most likely not be granted.
“It is a real area of ambiguity. The company that owns the venue is not on the sanctions list, but Timchenko is.
“The question is whether you are giving Timchenko economic resources by allowing the concerts to go ahead.”
Tom Stocker added there was potential for the concerts not to go ahead, as US companies would be likely to take a “cautious approach” for fear of falling foul of the current sanctions.
He said British artists like Robbie Williams, Elton John and Peter Gabriel, who were all likely to have US management, might find they were unable to discuss details of their forthcoming concerts at the Finnish venue while they were on US soil.
“The individuals themselves can’t do anything in furtherance of the concerts while on US soil,” Tom Stocker said.
“They can’t send emails to their US management while on American soil, they can’t discuss arrangements for the concert.”
As yet there is no evidence that any concerts at the venue have been cancelled. The Hartwall venue’s website shows all the concerts going ahead as planned.
Miley Cyrus causes a stir with what appears to be a fake lip tattoo.
Miley Cyrus showed off her new sad cat Emoji lip tattoo on Instagram. She posted the pictures of her seemingly latest tattoo, a small yellow cat with a single tear inked on to her lower lip, on Friday.
The singer appears to have celebrated her night in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by going under the needle and having a tattoo inked on to her lip.

Miley Cyrus, 21, gave no indication as to whether the tattoo was permanent or simply temporary on the picture’s captions. She included the hastags “#sadkitty” and “#lovemoneyparty”, the latter of which appears to have become her motto for her Bangerz tour.
However, one of Miley Cyrus’ friends, Katy Weaver, posted a picture on Instagram of her and Cyrus showing off their new tattoos.
The response from fans and media outlets does appear to have been disproportionate to the images as Miley Cyrus already has a number of tattoos. These include one of her ear and a number on her torso and back.
