The news of Lindsay Lohan’s rehab stay comes shortly after it was revealed that her parents Dina and Michael Lohan may be summoned to the Southern California-based Betty Ford Center for a family therapy session.
A source revealed to RadarOnline.com: “Lindsay’s counselors want to get Dina and Michael to Betty Ford for a series of sessions in the next few weeks.
“They feel like having her work through her family issues could help Lindsay’s recovery.”
“Families are encouraged to participate in group therapy,” the insider added.
But Dina Lohan dispelled the claim as fodder in a response to Radar.
“Where did you hear that from? News to me!” she answered when contacted by the website.
“I have a warrant for child support against him… he owes thousands in back child support,” she continued.
Meanwhile, Michael Lohan alleges he has paid Dina the child support in full, even furnishing a cashier’s cheque for $8,500 as proof.
He told Radar of a potential therapy session: “I will gladly attend, like I’ve always wanted to.
“It’s the only thing that will give Lindsay resolve and a chance to finally have her life and both parents back in her life.
“This is about Lindsay, not Dina or me. Our family needs healing and that’s the only way Lindsay is going to beat this”
“I’ll be there for anything she needs,” Michael Lohan finished.
The notorious couple finalized their divorce in 2007 after a tumultuous 22-year marriage.
They have remained estranged for years, communicating with each other only through bitter comments made to various press outlets.
It remains unknown whether Dina and Michael Lohan’s three other children, Michael Jr., 25, Ali, 19, and Cody, 16, were invited to participate in the group session.

If it is decided she has broken the terms of the bargain Lindsay Lohan could be sentenced to 90 days in jail.

Meanwhile her father has wasted no time revealing his shock at allegations she was accused of partying shortly after.
Michael Lohan, 52, exclaimed to RadarOnline: “Are you kidding me?”
“Just when you think things are getting better, the same people who were in court with Lindsay, and heard the judge instruct her NOT to be around people or places that drugs might be present, are the same ones out with her attempting to go into a club last night!”
“Maybe waiting 45 days is too long? I wish she’d let me pick out the rehab NOW (and even pay for it), but then again, Heller and Dina wouldn’t approve even if it was the best. Or will they pay?”

Lindsay Lohan’s father made it clear he’s not a fan of Mark Heller, his daughter’s attorney, before the star arrived for her Monday hearing in Los Angeles.
Objecting to Mark Heller’s presence in the middle of the hearing, Michael Lohan asked him: “Why are you still up there?!”
The 52-year-old celebrity father then launched a vitriolic attack on Mark Heller as he left the courthouse.
Michael Lohan held his own press conference after the proceedings.
But as Mark Heller walked by he was compelled to stop what he was doing and lunged at the lawyer, accusing him of using Lindsay Lohan for publicity.
“This guy is trying to cash in on my daughter’s notoriety for his own professional interests!” Michael Lohan fumed.
Michael Lohan also accused Mark Heller of owing him money and made further claims he isn’t licensed to practice law in New York.
Mark Heller walked by, bowing his head, and did not appear to engage with the patriarch.
The scene unfolded shortly after Lindsay Lohan pleaded no contest Monday to reckless driving, lying to police and obstructing officers who were investigating a car accident involving the actress in Santa Monica last June.

Michael Lohan’s tirade was only the latest act in a media circus on Monday, after Lindsay arrived 48 minutes late to the hearing.
After Michael Lohan hinted his daughter Lindsay had a new boyfriend earlier this week, fitness trainer Josh Chunn has confirmed the couple are dating.
Josh Chunn, 25, claimed with his clean-living lifestyle, he is the “best influence” on Lindsay Lohan right now.
Lindsay Lohan’s new boyfriend told the New York Daily News: “I’ve been trying to get Lindsay to focus. But how do you get her to focus with all the stuff going on around her? I can barely focus. She’s a strong girl. She’s cleaning up. I just want her to be OK.”
However, Josh Chunn admitted Michael Lohan put him in an “awkward place” when he attempted to stage a dramatic emergency intervention at Lindsay’s Beverly Hills home in the hope of persuading her to go to rehab.
After asking Michael Lohan to leave when police appeared on the scene responding to claims of trespassing, Josh Chunn explained he understands Lindsay’s father is “just out to help her”.
But the same cannot be said for the rest of Lindsay Lohan’s pals, in Josh Chunn’s opinion.
He said: “I think I’m the best influence on her. The deal is she is surrounded by a bunch of f**k-ups.
“I’m there for Lindsay. I listen. I work hard for my money. I pay my own bill when we go out. I have a schedule.
“That’s the problem with these kids in L.A., they don’t have a schedule. All they want to do is party.”
Lindsay Lohan, 26, and Josh Chunn first met at the home of a mutual friend, before bumping into each other once again at a recent party at the Chateau Marmont Hotel.
And it seems partying could be a thing of the past for Lindsay Lohan, with Josh Chunn explaining he is trying to encourage the actress to take on board his outdoor lifestyle and join him on fishing trips and hikes.

Despite his awkward meeting with Michael Lohan, Josh Chunn has apparently had the seal of approval from his girlfriend’s father.
Michael Lohan wrote on his Twitter page: “You are one of the best people that Lindsay has ever met! Sorry but the ones who care get it the worst.”
However, Lindsay Lohan recently claimed she is single.
Writing on her Twitter page, the actress said: “I don’t have a boyfriend. I have Chanel, Hermes and diamonds.”
Meanwhile, Lindsay’s mother, Dina Lohan, has slammed Michael’s attempted intervention.
Dina Lohan said in a statement to TMZ: “This sole act by my ex was not an intervention nor was this extreme antic sanctioned by any member of Lindsay’s family or her professional team of handlers.
“It’s all about her father obsessed with making a name for himself in the news once again. It’s sad and I hope he stops masquerading as her father in public and starts acting like one in private.”
Lindsay Lohan is expected to appear in Manhattan Criminal Court on Tuesday to answer charges that she fled the scene of a car accident outside a New York hotel on September 19.
Lindsay Lohan’s Los Angeles home was overrun by police on Friday after her father, Michael Lohan, attempted to stage a dramatic intervention.
Michael Lohan turned up at his daughter’s Beverly Hills home, believing the actress had suffered a relapse in her sobriety, according to TMZ.
The website claims the 52-year-old patriarch, who is estranged from his daughter, led a group of “several others” to the property in an attempt to force Lindsay into treatment.
A call was placed to Beverly Hills Police Department to report a trespassing.
Before leaving the property, Michael Lohan told the website his concerns for Lindsay grew after she failed to show up to carry out post-production work on her upcoming movie, The Canyons.
Lindsay Lohan told reporters at the scene: “Lindsay needs help. She’s around all the wrong people.
“They are a bunch of alcoholics and drug addicts.
“She’s around the wrong people and it’s getting worse and worse.
“I’m not going to stand for this anymore. She has to get better. I’m not going to watch my daughter die.”
Michael Lohan suggested his daughter’s “whole team”, referring to her army of managers, agents and publicists – supported his actions.
He also claimed Lindsay Lohan was “very resistant” to getting the help he claims she needs.
Michael Lohan said he only wanted to “talk some sense into her and get her some help”, adding, “that’s all we want. We want the best for her”.
But Lindsay Lohan has reportedly hit back at the claims, telling TMZ that she does not have a problem and does not require rehab.
The website reports she has not relapsed and believes Michael Lohan is trying to stage an intervention in reaction to her cutting him off after he recorded a conversation with her.
Lindsay Lohan reportedly believes her father is trying to feign interest in her welfare to try and get back in her good books.
Apparently Lindsay Lohan was at the house when her father and the team arrived, but someone claiming to be her boyfriend tried to make them leave.
The “boyfriend” allegedly told Lindsay Lohan’s father she was inside, but suggested that any problems she may have would not be solved by her father’s antics.
Later Michael Lohan revealed on Twitter he did not ask her mother for help because it would be like the “blind leading the blind”.
When asked on Twitter if Dina Lohan was involved in the attempted intervention, he wrote: “Aaah what do you think! That is like the blind leading the blind.”
He also tweeted personal trainer Josh Chunn – who he claims is Lindsay Lohan’s latest boyfriend – after the actress reportedly kicked him out of her house for attempting to help her dad.

The incident comes after writer Bret Easton Ellis accused the actress of skipping out on work for the movie The Canyons on Thursday.
Referencing his American Psycho character, Bret Easton Ellis, who penned the script, tweeted: “Patrick Bateman has just headed over to Lindsay Lohan’s hotel to confront her as to why she missed her f***ing ADR on <<The Canyons>> today…”
ADR is the technical term given to overdubbing lines after a scene has been recorded.
Lindsay’s spokesman, Steve Honig, rebutted the claims the actress missed work.
“Lindsay is busy right now promoting her new film Liz & Dick and [Canyons work] had to be rescheduled. That’s it,” he said in a statement.
Michael Lohan brushed off the explanation, saying the real reason was she was “around the wrong people doing the wrong things”.
He seemed to foreshadow his actions in a recent email he sent to the New York Post, in which he angrily derided the people his daughter has surrounded herself with.
Michael Lohan wrote: “I am very upset with the crowd around Lindsay. My advice to ALL the negative influences in Lindsay and my other children’s lives is, this time, you have crossed the line and bitten off a lot more than you can chew!
“My family will not be subject to your misguided morals and ways! There WILL BE changes!! Just watch.”

According to TMZ, Lindsay and Dina Lohan were in their limousine returning from a night out clubbing when Lindsay told Michael to call the police, fearing her mother was kidnapping her.

Lindsay Lohan is heard screaming: “Dad, she’s on cocaine. She’s like touching her neck, and s***. She’s saying disgusting things to me… I’m dead to her now.”
The website reports that Dina Lohan had drunk four glasses of wine but eaten nothing before the encounter.
The website also reports that Lindsay gave Dina $40,000 to help save her home from foreclosure. But last night, Lindsay Lohan wanted her money back.

Lindsay Lohan is overheard telling Dina: “This is what you do. You ruin people,” before telling her father: “She’s like the f***ing devil right now. I have a gash on my leg from what happened.”
She then gets increasingly hysterical, adding: “I asked her to give [the money] back and she’s like <<You’re sick, you don’t give me anything, you don’t do anything for child support>>.”
“You do everything for everyone,” Michael Lohan tries to reassure his daughter. And he adds: “She’s horrible Lindsay.”
Earlier, Lindsay Lohan can be heard trying to get the driver to pull over, while Michael insists Dina is “kidnapping” her.
Lindsay Lohan then tells her father: “She’s throwing your f****** kids out and she’s threatening everyone in the car.”
Meanwhile, the actress is also reported to have told her mother she “needs to go to rehab”, a source told Radar.
“Dina went absolutely ballistic when Lindsay said this to her and insisted that there was no reason for her to get treatment,” the insider added.
“Lindsay is very concerned about her mom though and tried to convey this to Dina, but she was very emotional and tired. Lindsay even told her mom that she shouldn’t be going out to clubs with her and should act more like her mother and less like her friend.”
A bracelet belonging to Lindsay Lohan is also claimed to have been broken in the fallout.
Law enforcement officers arrived at Dina Lohan’s home after receiving a complaint alleging that Lindsay was “being held against her will by Dina and her driver”.
Meanwhile, Michael Lohan told website Hollyscoop: “I called the police at Lindsay’s request. [Lindsay] even asked that I record the conversation because she was being held against her will by the limo driver at Dina’s instruction.”
