Police converged on the area, but the people involved in the shooting were not found, although police detained several people at the scene.
Jennifer Lopez, 43, was in Fort Lauderdale to shoot the music video for Live It Up, her upcoming collaboration with Pitbull.
She was filming an interview with Entertainment Tonight on the set of her music video when the shots were heard.
Entertainment Tonight‘s Rob Marciano, who was interviewing JLo, reported that “Security scrambled [Jennifer Lopez] away” after the shots rang out.
He tweeted: “BREAKING: Gunshots fired on Fort Lauderdale Beach DURING my JLo interview. No kidding. Security scrambled her away.”
Rob Marciano added: “Can hear & see ambulances converging ~400 yards down the street.”
Before adding: “Police confirming: <<shots fired. no one hit>>. Whew.”
Security officials said Jennifer Lopez was secure in her vehicle when the incident was reported, but it’s bound to have brought back memories from the time she and then boyfriend P. Diddy were arrested over a shooting at a nightclub in New York in the late ’90s.
JLo is being supported on the shoot by her partner, Casper Smart, 25, who has brought his mother along too.

The fake tattoo shown on J-Lo’s chest as she sits up spells “Lideres”, meaning “leader” in Spanish.
JLo stretches, then puts on a black top and tight trousers, and starts an epic chase around the city with the Winsen and , leaping across the streets and through buildings, offering a Crouching Tuger Hidden Dragon-style tour.
These scenes are interspersed with shots of JLo dancing on a rooftop in plastic black trousers and a gold and black top.

At 42 Jennifer Lopez still boasts the same incredible figure, and moves that dancers in their twenties would envy.
Wearing her favorite bronze make-up, with pretty pink lips for a pretty, fresh look, JLo could easily pass for a woman ten years younger.
Of course there was never any question of her stunning looks and talents not stealing the show, considering her boyfriend Casper Smart, 25, directed the shoot.
JLo’ song lyrics certainly show no sign of getting less steamy, including lines such as: “Baby, the way that I’m working my body, Can tell that you already like it, I make you lose your cabeza.”
The superstar is already gearing up for her forthcoming MEGA 2012 Tour tour- and this time she’s bringing her four-year-old twins Max and Emme along with her.
The tour, which will be a joint venture with Enrique Iglesias, will kick off in Montreal, Canada, on July 14 and continue across North America, including stops in Washington, Los Angeles and Miami.

Few days after Marc Anthony filed for divorce from estranged wife Jennifer Lopez, there are reports that he really didn’t want to split up with her after all.
Marc Anthony was apparently hoping for reconciliation, but he filed for divorce after JLo turned him down.
According to TMZ, instead of fighting for her marriage, Jennifer Lopez, 42, decided to pursue her feelings for much younger boyfriend, Casper Smart.
Sources close to Marc Anthony have revealed that he had heart-to-heart talk with JLo a few weeks ago.
But JLo revealed that she is in love with Casper Smart and wanted to end the marriage.
Marc Anthony apparently had no idea that her relationship with Casper Smart had gotten so serious and was “blindsided” by the news, the website reports.

This paved the way to his divorce filing on Monday, almost a year after the couple announced they were separating last July.
Marc Anthony, 43, cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for divorce, which he filed under his real name Marco Muniz.
The papers were filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
The vocalist is asking for joint custody of the couple’s 4-year-old twins, Emme and Max.
And the multimillionaire does not want to provide his even richer wife with spousal support, in the unlikely case she asks for it.
He is also requesting each side pays their own legal fees.
When Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez split, they had been married for seven years, having tied the knot in 2004.
It is unclear why it took so long for either Marc Anthony, who is now dating Venezuelan model Shannon de Lima, or Jennifer Lopez, who is very much an item with her lover Casper Smart, 25, to file for divorce.
This will be JLo’s third divorce, following her marriages to dancer Cris Judd and Ojani Noa, and Marc Anthony’s second.
Marc Anthony divorced former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres in 2004, whom he has two sons, Cristian Marcus Muñiz, 11, and Ryan Adrian Muñiz, nine, with.

In Touch alleged things have been a long time coming.
Another source revealed there was a visible sexual tension between Jada and Marc on the set of TNT medical drama, Hawthorne.
When Marc Anthony began playing the on-screen lover of his co-star, workers on set noticed the chemistry between them, In Touch reported.
According to a source:
“On set, everyone noticed the insane chemistry them.”
There were also playful exchanges on Twitter between Jada and Marc, saying how much fun they were having working together.
But it was when Marc Anthony split from J.Lo last month that alarms bells started ringing for Will Smith, according to In Touch.
Will Smith, who has been in New York over recent months filming Men In Black III “couldn’t ignore the timing” with the insider relating: “It was just too coincidental.”
Meanwhile a source close to Will and Jada told gossip website TMZ.com that they have decided to go away with their children on a family holiday before deciding what to do, but the prospect of a split in the near future is “definitely a possibility”.
