But it appears that the birth of daughter Blue Ivy has led to a new chapter in their lives, with Beyonce, 30, happily opening up her family album on Tumblr.
Beyonce revealed intimate snaps from behind the scenes of her public and private life, including an adorable picture of herself feeding Blue Ivy with a bottle while she guzzles dressed in a Watch The Throne T-shirt in honor of Jay-Z’s latest tour with Kanye West.
They come as she is about to star in a new documentary film about her life and career, a large step for Beyonce.
Another picture shows Beyonce screaming with laughter as her husband pushes her on a swing.
She wears a long flowing pink maxi dress which billows up around her as Jay-Z pushes, their dog at his heels.
Rihanna has closed Hackney Weekend, a free two-day festival in east London, on Sunday night, with a performance that included a string of her hits and a surprise (albeit widely expected) guest appearance by her mentor Jay-Z.
Rihanna, 24, opened her headline set with Only Girl In The World, performing in front of a giant sphinx.
“Hackney, you’re crazier than they told me!” the singer shouted, as up to 50,000 fans watched.
Rihanna’s mentor Jay-Z took to the stage for a run of three songs. The pair had also performed together during Jay-Z’s set on Saturday night.
After her third track, S&M, Rihanna ran into the audience to ask for help re-attaching the battery pack for her microphone, which had become loose during a high-energy dance routine.
She closed the set an hour later with We Found Love, her global number one hit from last year.
“You guys are making this such a memorable show for me,” Rihanna said before she left the stage.
Earlier on Sunday, Florence and the Machine performed on the main stage, followed by Dizzee Rascal – a surprise addition to the bill.
Dizzee Rascal, who grew up in Bow, near the Hackney Marshes venue, paid tribute to “my east London crew”.
He recalled his days as a “pirate radio MC” in London before his self-produced single I Luv You landed him a record contract.
The second day’s bill was packed with local artists, including rapper Tinie Tempah, who premiered a new, untitled, song produced by Calvin Harris.
“East London is the epicentre of a lot of cool things at the minute,” he said.
“Radio 1 coming to Hackney Marshes is so incredible. I could wake up and just walk here.”

Rapper Plan B – whose set coincided with a sudden rain storm – added that the festival was important for the local area.
“For so long, this part of the city has been deprived. It’s great to see stuff like this happening here, because the people deserve it.”
Other acts who attracted large crowds included US hip-hop artist Azealia Banks, dance duo Chase and Status, and singer-songwriter Ben Howard.
Jessie J was an early favourite on the main stage, particularly with younger members of the audience.
She was joined on stage by US rapper B.o.B for their hit single Price Tag.
“This is only the second time we’ve performed it together,” she told the crowd.
“I really enjoyed myself,” she said afterwards.
“I’m kind of pacing myself a little bit more this year and just making sure that I’m focused on the vocals.
“I just really want people to enjoy the singing element of it all. The crowd were incredible.”
Noir pop artist Lana Del Rey performed an acoustic set backed by a chamber orchestra at the In New Music We Trust tent.
“The crowd were really receptive, really good, so that made it easy,” said the Video Games singer afterwards.
“I didn’t have my drummer with me – so it was stripped back, almost like a jazz set. It’s really all about me and the crowd.”
Authorities treated the festival as a “dry run” for the summer Olympics and, by and large, it proved to be a peaceful weekend.
London’s Metropolitan Police said the atmosphere had been “calm” on Sunday. Saturday saw about 50 arrests outside the arena. Most were for drugs and knife possession.

Beyonce, 30, posted a passage on her official Tumblr from Rebecca Solnit’s 2005 novel, A Field Guide to Getting Lost.
The excerpt focuses on the significance of the color blue, beginning: “The world is blue at its edges and in its depths.”
And the final sentence Beyoncé posted seems to summarize the power of the color as it reads: “The light that gets lost, gives us the beauty of the world, so much of which is in the color blue.”

Some have thought it may not be a coincidence that Jay-Z has released three Blueprint albums in the last ten years.

She said: “I’m enjoying being a mother so it’s like going back to my old job, and it’s a little strange.
“But it’s important that you don’t lose yourself and still have your own passions. And so I’m back to work, I’m back to business.”
Kanye West leads the field at BET Awards 2012 with seven nominations.
Musical partner and collaborator Jay-Z also has five while the rapper’s wife Beyonce is up for six.
Jay-Z and Kanye West collaborator last year on Watch the Throne and are on tour in the UK together at the moment.
Their songs In Paris and Otis are up for video of the year with Beyonce up for two awards in that category for Love on Top and Countdown.

The BET nominations were announced in New York.
Samuel L. Jackson will host the award show on 1 July, which will be held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

Other nominees include Lil Wayne, Drake and J. Cole.
Last year’s big winner, Chris Brown, is up for three awards this year after picking up four trophies in 2011.

Erica Reid, who is mother to 11-year-old daughter Arianna and eight-year-old son Addison, said in a recent interview that she believes in a firm but fair approach to parenting.
She said: “I love my children, I am very sweet to them but I’m also very firm with them, and they don’t get their way with every single thing.
“The world is not always going to present them with a silver spoon and I want them to learn that now rather than having them wake up shell-shocked in 30 years.”

The proud parents set up a blog that shows the intimate family snaps along with a message.
It read: “We welcome you to share in our joy. Thank you for respecting our privacy during this beautiful time in our lives. The Carter Family.”
There are several close ups of the adorable little girl, who not only has a healthy head of hair but also displays a rose-bud mouth and almond shaped brown eyes.

Another doppelganger was wearing the mint green gown she wore to the Oscars with fiancé Ben Affleck as she twirled with a square-jawed replica of The Town star.
The most dazzling pairing came from the twosome reliving Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony’s American Idol performance from May, only weeks before they announced the end of their marriage.
An onlooker told RadarOnline.com: “At the end of the song she started sobbing and had to take a few moments to keep it together.”
“She held it together for one song but then ran offstage crying.
“She only sang a few more songs and she was obviously out of it. Everyone was so sad for her. It was really dramatic.”
Currently, the showbiz world is abuzz with rumours about Jennifer Lopez romance with A-Team hunk Bradley Cooper, 37.
However, Jennifer Lopez pledged not to speak about any romances until she is in another serious relationship at her fashion line launch in Connecticut last week.
Jennifer Lopez said she wants to protect her three-year-old twins Emme and Max in case her relationships do not work out.
“As a mom, and having children, right now they’re my first priority.
“And because of them, I wouldn’t ever comment on anything until I’m in a serious relationship again.
“It would just be confusing for them and it would be unfair. And so at the end of the day, it’s about them.”
