[googlead tip=”patrat_mare”]Two women believed to be from Northern Ireland have been stabbed to death by a teenager in a forest near Izmir, Turkey, according to local media.

 

The middle-age women, believed to be from County Down, Northern Ireland, were murdered late last night in a forest, near the city of Izmir, about 75 miles from the Kusadasi resort.

A 17-year-old Turkish youth, who seemed to be the boyfriend of a daughter of one of the women, has been arrested.

The young man is believed to have murdered the two women after one of them refused permission for him to marry her daughter.

 

According to Turkey’s state-run news agency Anatolia, the teenager, Recep C, took them in a taxi to a quiet woodland area of the regional capital Izmir, where he killed them both.

The alarm have been raised by the 15 year-old daughter after the women failed to return home, prompting police to search the estate they were staying where the discovered bloodstained clothing in a bin.

As of early this afternoon the duaghter was had still not been told that her mother was dead, according to Daily Telegraph.

The suspect denied the attack when first confronted but confessed while being interrogated by police. His father and the taxi driver have also been detained, Anatolia reported.

One of the victims, understood to be from County down, Northern Ireland, is said to own property in Kusdasi and spent long time at the Aegean coast resort, which is visited by thousands by British and Irish tourists every year.

 

Both women were travelling on Irish passports and are understood not to be British citizens.

 

An Irish diplomat has been dispatched from Ankara, to look after the one of the women’s daughter, who was not with the women at the time of attack.

A spokesman for the Department of Foreign Affairs in Dublin confirmed consular staff is trying to track down family members.[googlead tip=”lista_medie” aliniat=”dreapta”]

“We are providing consular assistance through the embassy in Ankara,” the spokesman said.

South Down Member of Parliament Margaret Ritchie said she was shocked by the deaths and offered her sympathy to the bereaved families.

“My thoughts are with those involved in this terrible incident.

“And also with their families, who never got the chance to say goodbye to their loved ones.”

“I think all the people of South Down will be saddened by this news.”
