Mitch Winehouse, father of late singer Amy Winehouse, has been left unimpressed by the version of her song Back To Black recorded by Beyoncé for new film The Great Gatsby.
“I don’t think she brings anything to it,” he said.
He added: “I wasn’t asked for my permission if they could record it.”
Mitch Winehouse has now agreed to its use, but said: “They have got to pay for the privilege, which is what they are doing. I can’t tell you how much it is but it’s a lot of money.”
Amy Winehouse’s father has been working on a follow-up to the hit album Lioness: Hidden Treasures, which was released after the singer’s untimely death at 27 in 2011.

The album will feature some of Amy Winehouse’s very early work and profits will go towards the Amy Winehouse Foundation, a charity set up to help youngsters with addiction problems.
The new collection is expected to be released via Island Records with some input from producer Mark Ronson, who worked with Amy Winehouse.
Meanwhile, Beyoncé’s rapper husband Jay-Z – real name Shawn Carter – presented her with a diamond-encrusted champagne bottle to celebrate the first night of her Mrs. Carter World Tour in Serbia last week.
“He shelled out thousands on having a jeroboam of plush Armand de Brignac champagne sent over to her hotel, with the words <<Mrs. Carter>> emblazoned on it in diamonds,” said a mole backstage on the mammoth worldwide tour.
“He went to great lengths to get it done.”]

The 66th Cannes Film Festival will be opened by Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of The Great Gatsby, starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
Based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s 1925 classic novel, Toby Maguire and Carey Mulligan also star.
Baz Luhrmann – whose debut film Strictly Ballroom was screened at Cannes 21 years ago – said the festival had “always been so close to our hearts”.
His new film will be shown on May 15 at the Grand Theatre Lumiere of the Palais des Festivals.
“F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote some of the most poignant and beautiful passages of his extraordinary novel just a short distance away at a villa outside Saint-Raphael,” Baz Luhrmann said in a statement.
The Great Gatsby was scripted by Baz Luhrmann and co-writer Craig Pearce, who worked together eight-time Oscar nominated film, Moulin Rouge. That film also opened the Cannes Film Festival in 2001.

Leonardo DiCaprio, who stars as the tragic romantic Jay Gatsby, last worked with the director on his 1996 film Romeo + Juliet, for which Baz Luhrmann won a BAFTA for best screenplay and best direction.
The actor is returning to Cannes for the first time since he presented the 2007 ecological documentary, The 11th Hour, which he produced.
The Great Gatsby features songs by Jack White and rapper Jay-Z – who is also due to attend the opening at Cannes.
It will also be screened in 3D – only the second time in the history of the festival a film has been shown in the format after Pixar’s Up opened in 2009.
The film had been due for release last Christmas but was pushed back by Warner Bros to ensure it “reaches the largest audience possible”.

Halloween and its plethora of costumes can be daunting.
So in the lead up to the spooky holiday, MAC Cosmetics has released its own Halloween how-to guide for inspiration, and technical ease, in those “where to start” moments of confusion.
Using step-by-step make-up face charts, MAC shows you how to recreate some of Hollywood’s most iconic faces; from Cat Woman and Marylin Monroe, to The Great Gatsby’s Daisy and The Hunger Games’ Effie Trinket.
The Halloween face creations use MAC make-up; and for ease of reference, each face chart specifies the exact colors and products needed.
Cat Woman’s “sexy, sleek and mysterious”, look uses a mix of pink and brown eyeshadow for dramatic eyes peeking out from the mask, as well as dark grey and brown eye liner.
With a touch of blush, the full lips are created with mis-matching lip liner and lipstick.
MAC Cosmetics Halloween guide says Marilyn Monroe’s classic Hollywood glamour focuses on her brows, lips and her beauty spot
Marilyn Monroe’s classic Hollywood glamour focuses on her brows, lips and of course, her beauty spot. Using a cherry lip color covered in a bright red “dazzle glass” lipgloss, MAC creates her famous pout.
The most creative and daring make-up look is The Hunger Games’ technicolor creation from the Capitol.
Using colors like Vibrant Grape, Fig, Purple Dash, Smooth Blue and Dollymix, recreating Elizabeth Banks’ character Effie Trinkett seems easier than first imagined.
With Baz Lurman’s take on F Scott Fitzgerald’s novel The Great Gatsby is released in December this year, the character Daisy is Halloween timely.
Her enchanting look from the roaring Twenties uses soft ochre colors and a deep plum for the lips. With the right cream-colored flapper dress, Halloween will be its most glamorous yet.
