Robin Williams’ widow said the actor had health problems that would have killed him within three years if he had not ended his own life.
In her first interview since the comedian died in August 2014, Susan Williams said her husband was “disintegrating before my eyes” in the weeks before his death.
“We were living a nightmare,” Susan Williams told ABC’s Good Morning America.
Robin Williams had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and had signs of a condition known as dementia with Lewy bodies.
The condition is caused by deposits of an abnormal protein called Lewy bodies inside brain cells, which disrupt the brain’s normal functions.
According to experts, the condition can interfere with memory, judgement, movement, concentration and visual perception.

“If Robin was lucky, he would’ve had maybe three years left,” she said.
“And they would’ve been hard years. And it’s a good chance he would’ve been locked up.”
Robin Williams was “completely clean and sober” when he died, Susan Williams said, but was struggling with depression and anxiety.
His physical symptoms included stiffness, slumping, a shuffling gait and “losing his ability in his voice”, his widow said.
“It’s one minute, totally lucid… And then five minutes later, he would say something that wasn’t… it didn’t match.”
Robin Williams was dealing with his problems as well as he could, she said, describing him as “the bravest man I’ve ever known”.
“But the last month he could not. It was like the dam broke.”
Asked whether her husband’s suicide was his way of taking back control, Susan Williams replied: “In my opinion, oh, yeah.
“I mean, there are many reasons. Believe me. I’ve thought about this. Of what was going on in his mind, what made him ultimately commit… you know, to do that act.
“And I think he was just saying, <<No>>. And I don’t blame him one bit. I don’t blame him one bit.”
Robin Williams died on August 11, 2014 at the age of 63.
GMA co-host Lara Spencer and her husband David Haffenreffer split after fifteen years of marriage.
“After a lot of thought, care and consideration, we have decided to end our marriage,” Lara Spencer and David Haffenreffer announced in a joint statement to Page Six.
“It’s a sad decision that did not come easily, especially because we respect and love each other and our children.”
The couple added: “They remain our top priority. We will raise them and care for them together.”
In 2000, Lara Spencer and David Haffenreffer wed in Southampton when she was a contributor to ABC’s Good Morning America.
David Haffenreffer was a CNN reporter at the time before becoming a real estate broker.
During the wedding festivities, Lara Spencer explained to Martha Stewart that she wanted to marry in the gorgeous neighborhood because “that’s where our courtship began and where it continues. We couldn’t think of a better spot”.
Lara Spencer and David Haffenreffer split is amicable and a scheduled family vacation will go on as planned next week.
Lara Spencer has been promoted to co-host status on Good Morning America, ABC has announced.
Lifestyle anchor since returning to the show in 2011, Lara Spencer now has billing parity with Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos.
Lara Spencer was GMA‘s national correspondent from 1999 to 2004. Then, for seven years, she was a host of The Insider.
Lara Spencer has been promoted to co-host status on Good Morning America
Her promotion comes as GMA continues to beat NBC’s Today show in the ratings, but after it recently lost two members of its team, Sam Champion and Josh Elliott.
The other current members of the GMA family are Ginger Zee and Amy Robach.
Also this week, Good Morning America welcomed Michael Strahan, a co-host of the daily Live with Kelly and Michael, as a contributor.
Josh Elliott made the news last week after leaving ABC’s Good Morning America for a new job at NBC Sports but many are wondering who his new girlfriend is?
Josh Elliott, 42, was married to Priya Narang and he was also romantically linked to Liz Cho.
He is the proud father of his beautiful 5-year-old daughter Sarina, from his marriage to Priya Narang.
In 2012, dating rumors about Josh Elliott and Liz Cho were reported
Josh Elliott and Priya Narang’s short lived marriage crumbled after he accepted he has been a s** addict.
In 2012, dating rumors about Josh Elliott and Liz Cho, 43, a local news anchor at WABC-TV in New York City, were reported. They had been spending a lot of time together, they had been seen going from her place to his, and vice versa. At that moment Liz Cho was married to her now ex-husband Evan Gottlieb, president of GOCO Development.
Josh Elliott was pointed out as the reason for their split, but sources close to Liz Cho said that when she was dating Elliott she and Evan had been separated for six months already. Liz Cho and Evan Gottlieb have one daughter together, Louisa Simone, 7.
Josh Elliott has been also linked to former Real Housewives of NY Kelly Bensimon, after they were spotted having dinner at New York City’s Lure Fishbar.
According to new reports, Josh Elliott left Good Morning America for a job at NBC Sports that will pay him less than he would have received if he had stayed at ABC News.
The Hollywood Reporter revealed Josh Elliott will make $4 million annually in a long-term contract that also includes a production deal.

The former GMA anchor would reportedly earned $5 million if he had stayed at ABC News as the network was willing to shell out to keep him. Apparently the production deal that offers potential opportunities at NBC Universal’s vast suite of cable channels and the staggering audiences that tune in for sports programming on NBC proved sufficiently enticing to the anchor.
It appears Josh Elliott was asking for $10 million in an escalating contract that topped out at $13 million. Those figures were far beyond what ABC News executives were willing to pay.
A non-compete clause in Josh Elliott’s ABC contract precludes him from appearing on NBC’s news programs for six months. And sources at NBC News and close to Josh Elliott stress that the deal is confined to sports. But the pitched battle between GMA and Today Show – and the hundreds of millions of dollars at stake in morning TV – makes speculation about a possible role on Today inevitable.
Meanwhile, ABC News already has installed Amy Robach as Josh Elliott’s replacement on GMA.
Honey Boo Boo debuted a glammed-up hair transformation on Good Morning America yesterday.
Honey Boo Boo (aka Alana Thompson), 8, flaunted her longer, straighter locks for the cameras as she twirled in front of the studio audience.
The young star dressed brightly for occasion with a pink T-shirt with the slogan “Be Happy” written across it, and a sparkly waistcoat.
Joining Honey Boo Boo on set was Mama June, who was clutching a can of Mountain Dew.

The soft drink is a known ingredients to the controversial Go-Go Juice, that June Shannon was seen giving Honey Boo Boo in an early episode of Toddlers & Tiaras.
However, June Shannon has since revealed that she has stopped supplying the drink, and other stimulants – which she once referred to as “pageant crack”.
After the appearance, Honey Boo Boo was seen wearing her hair back to it’s shorter and curlier trademark style.
Mama June, Honey Boo Boo and the rest of the family have been spending a few days in New York City before the big interview.
Duck Dynasty’s Si Robertson introduced his wife Christine in a special video on Good Morning America, along with the release of his new book, Si-Cology 1: Tales and Wisdom From Duck Dynasty’s Favorite Uncle.
Silas is younger brother to Phil Robertson, the patriarch of the popular reality television family and founder of the Duck Commander.
Si Robertson began working for the family business in the 1990s, after retiring from 25 years of service in the military. He is a Vietnam veteran, and still carries around the plastic cups that his mother had sent him when he was away at war.
Si Robertson introduced his wife Christine in a special video on Good Morning America
While the show may portray Uncle Si as being single, he has been married for 43 years and has two grown children, Scott and Trasa.
Si Robertson said that readers of Si-cology 1 might be surprised to learn that “one woman’s got my heart, and we’ve been married for 43 years. Her name is Miss Christine.”
Christine and Si Robertson still seem to be very much in love, hugging each other sweetly in the video message. He said he had asked his wife to marry him about a hundred times.
“It was about 75,” Christine Robertson joked.
Christine makes Uncle Si two gallons of unsweetened tea per day, “the old-fashioned way,” he says.
“Put three bags in a pot of water, turn the heat on the water and let it boil, put a saucer over it and let it seep. Then pour it into a gallon jug and then I drink.”
Jennifer Aniston has revealed there is one question more than any other that annoys her – the kids question.
Speaking on Good Morning America on Wednesday, Jennifer Aniston, 44, said she recognizes all the tricks used by interviewers trying to bring up the subject of her starting a family.
Jennifer Aniston said she knows it’s coming when she is asked: “Something about family and trying to relate it to the movie with, <<Oh, if I was to have a child how many kids do I want?>>.”
And “do I want a boy or a girl?” the actress said in an interview with ABC News correspondent Amy Robach.
Speaking on Good Morning America on Wednesday, Jennifer Aniston said she recognizes all the tricks used by interviewers trying to bring up the subject of her starting a family
“I didn’t realize you could place orders, I honestly didn’t realize it was like a drive-through, that you could talk to a little electronic voice.”
Jennifer Aniston explained: “My friends and my partner are truly my family.”
The star – who is engaged to actor Justin Theroux – was speaking out during an interview to promote her new movie We’re the Millers in which she plays a club dancer.
Jennifer Aniston said she had her doubts about the role: “I said yes thinking <<wouldn’t that be great>>, thinking, <<well, I’ve never played a stripper, at least not in film>>.
“Then this panic sets in three weeks, two weeks, one week before the actual day of shooting.”
Jennifer Aniston revealed she worked out six days a week in preparation for the role.
“Honestly it was the craziest workout. My diet has always been pretty clean but I think I was super, super strict, especially in terms of, I’ll usually cheat once or twice a week and I just kind of didn’t.”
Jennifer Aniston also revealed she and Justin Theroux are in no hurry to tie the knot. The pair who became engaged last year have been subjected to rumors that their relationship is on the rocks.
“I surround myself with my amazing work, my amazing friends, my amazing partner, my beautiful dogs … and I tune that noise out.
“I mean, I think it’s very sweet that people want everything for me,” Jennifer Aniston said, adding that she’s “so content and happy” where she is.
B29, a juror in the trial of George Zimmerman, who killed unarmed black teenager Trayvon Martin, has come forward to say he “got away with murder”.
But the 36-year-old, named as Maddy in an ABC News’ Good Morning America interview, said they could not find him guilty based on the law.
The only non-white member of the six-woman jury, Maddy suggested the trial had been little more than a sham.
Florida neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman was cleared after shooting dead 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in February 2012.
There were nationwide protests following his acquittal of murder and manslaughter charges earlier this month. George Zimmerman claimed self-defense.
Maddy, a nursing assistant and a mother of eight who had recently moved from Illinois to Florida, said she feels she owes an apology to Trayvon Martin’s parents.
Juror B29 has come forward to say George Zimmerman got away with murder
“I felt like I let a lot of people down, and I’m thinking to myself, <<Did I go the right way? Did I go the wrong way?>>” she told Good Morning America programme.
But she said that based on instructions from the judge, she could not convict George Zimmerman under Florida law.
“That’s where I felt confused, where if a person kills someone, then you get charged for it,” Maddy said.
“But as the law was read to me, if you have no proof that he killed him intentionally, you can’t say he’s guilty.”
Known as Juror B29, she said she initially voted to convict 29-year-old George Zimmerman of second-degree murder, but changed her mind after nine hours of discussing evidence on the second day of deliberations.
“I was the juror that was going to give them the hung jury,” she said.
“I fought to the end.”
Maddy, who is of Puerto Rican background, said the trial was “a publicity stunt”, because she believes Florida laws provided no opportunity to convict. But she said George Zimmerman will still be judged.
“George Zimmerman got away with murder, but you can’t get away from God. And at the end of the day, he’s going to have a lot of questions and answers he has to deal with.”
Earlier this month, another juror – known only as B37 – told broadcaster CNN that she believed George Zimmerman had good intentions, but events “just went terribly wrong”.
Mama June enjoyed a taste of the glamorous life while promoting her reality show Here Comes Honey Boo Boo in New York.
Honey Boo Boo’s mother June Shannon got the full hair and make-up treatment before giving an interview to Good Morning America from Times Square in New York City.
June Shannon, 33, had on heavy foundation, dark eyeliner and pink lipstick for her on-set visit.
The reality star dressed comfortably in a draping turquoise blue short-sleeved blouse, loose-fitting black pants and a pair of white sneakers.
The Good Morning America crew surprised June Shannon with a taped message from Mario Lopez
June Shannon arrived with no make-up and with her blonde hair down, but spent some time in the stylist’s chair and had her facial cosmetics applied and hair pulled back for her interview.
Here Comes Honey Boo Boo returned to TLC on July 17 and showed the self-proclaimed redneck family visit the White House, race around in go karts and attend a pro wrestling match.
Honey Boo Boo didn’t make the trip to New York City and was at the family’s rural home in McIntyre, Georgia.
“She’s asleep, we’re not morning people,” June Shannon said.
June Shannon also confirmed that she has a huge celebrity crush on Extra entertainment news host Mario Lopez.
The Good Morning America crew surprised June Shannon with a taped message from Mario Lopez in which he offered congratulations on her recent wedding and said he was “extremely flattered” to be her celebrity crush.
Trayvon Martin’s parents, Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin, said they are shocked and disgusted the jury in George Zimmerman’s trial found him not guilty of murdering their son.
George Zimmerman, 29, was acquitted of both second-degree murder and manslaughter on Saturday night after a month-long trial that gripped and divided the nation.
Trayvon Martin’s parents, who both testified their son was screaming for help on a 911 call that was a crucial piece of evidence in the trial, made a string of TV appearances this morning to talk about the verdict.
“I really didn’t believe that he was not guilty. My first thought was shock, disgust. I think people are forgetting that Trayvon was a teenager so he probably thought as a teenager,” Sybrina Fulton told Good Morning America.
“I really do believe he was afraid because he did call George Zimmerman creepy. So he was afraid and if you are 17 years old and you are afraid, you may not know what to do.”
Tracy Martin said: “I wish they really knew Trayvon for who he was and knew that he was a kid. They didn’t know him as a human being, a very decent human being, a fun-loving kid. He loved kids.
“I just wish they had an opportunity to really know who Trayvon was and to put that in context with what their decision was.”
George Zimmerman’s parents, Robert and Gladys, spoke to Barbara Walters this week and said that if they had the chance, they would tell the couple they are truly sorry about what happened the night their son fatally shot 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.
When asked whether he was comforted by this, Tracy Martin called it a “hard and fair question”.
“There’s no winner in this situation,” he said.
Trayvon Martin’s parents, Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin, said they are shocked and disgusted the jury in George Zimmerman’s trial found him not guilty of murdering their son
“Obviously, we are devastated more.
“I just think that all the circumstances surrounding books being written and the mischaracterization of us as parents, I just really don’t feel that it’s real sincere.
“But we continue to pray that we’ll find peace and strength to be forgiving parents.”
Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton have started a foundation named after their son and say they hope his death and the trial can serve as a catalyst to bring the country together.
“I think moving forward we need to educate ourselves as a community on the gun laws, on the laws, on the statutes. We need to come together more as a whole, not individual people, not individual races, religions. We need to come together as God’s people.
“We need to start learning each other, understanding each other. You can’t just judge a book by its cover. Something is wrong in so many ways to say that someone is suspicious just because you don’t know them.”
Sybrina Fulton added: “It’s not just about the Trayvon Martin case. Now it’s about your kids. It’s about other kids. What do we tell our sons?”
Today was the first day the two had spoken out about the verdict on TV.
They also appeared on the Today show where they told Matt Lauer they are still in disbelief over the verdict.
“Is this the intent for the justice system to have for victims. Trayvon wasn’t doing anything wrong,” Tracy Martin said.
“We felt in our hearts that we were going to get a conviction. We thought that the killer of our unarmed child was going to be convicted of the crime that he committed.”
When asked if they would like to say anything to the jury, he responded: “How can you let the killer of an unarmed child go free?
“What would your verdict have been had it been your child? And there’s no winner in this case at all. It’s just, I want them to put themselves in our shoes.
“Obviously anytime you have a person that makes an assumption that a person is up to no good, there’s some type of profiling there. Was he racially profiled?
“I think that if Trayvon had been white this wouldn’t have never happened. Obviously race is playing some type of role.”
Sybrina Fulton said she felt the jurors and the justice system failed her son “to a degree”.
“We let the process take its course. We didn’t get the verdict that we were looking for because we wanted [George Zimmerman] to be held accountable.
“Our focus has continued to change. First it was for an arrest then it was for a conviction…we were disappointed.”
When asked about forgiveness for George Zimmerman, Tracy Martin said “forgiveness takes time”.
“I think that the forgiveness is like a healing process, forgiven takes time,” he said.
“The Bible says that you have to forgive and forget, but also the healing process is a long process.”
Miley Cyrus was seen arriving in New York on Monday on her way to Good Morning America wearing a tight-fitting black Chanel dress.
Miley Cyrus’ bright red lipstick and trademark blonde buzz cut gave an edgy addition to the otherwise elegant outfit.
Miley Cyrus shows off her engagement ring on Good Morning America
She then chose a revealing cutout ensemble for her appearance on the show as she sat alongside Ryan Seacrest and Karl Urban.
The 5’5″ singer was seen trying to hide her face at one point with a Honey Boo Boo sign that read “no way” on it.
However, once on the show Miley Cyrus, 20, appeared to be in a joyous mood and proudly showed off her engagement ring, confirming reports that all is still well between her and fiancé Liam Hemsworth.
Miley Cyrus, 20, and Liam Hemsworth, 23, were recently pictured looking happy and relaxed as they posed for a picture together after going hiking at the Jasper Park Lodge in Alberta.
Earlier this year, Liam Hemsworth helped fuel the rumor fire that they had split, when he suddenly flew out to Australia to be with his family on March 2.
Miley Cyrus was then seen partying around Hollywood without her Niel Lane diamond stunner.
But Miley Cyrus took to Twitter to assure fans she was not calling off her relationship to Liam Hemsworth and explained she had to take the ring off.
Reese Witherspoon’s arrest video footage shows how actress got into a drunken confrontation with a police officer which resulted in her detention for disorderly conduct.
The one and a half minute film, taken from the patrol car’s dash camera and posted on TMZ, shows Reese Witherspoon luring and screaming at a police officer in Atlanta, Georgia following her husband Jim Toth’s arrest for DUI.
Reese Witherspoon, 37, was arrested for on April 19 after disobeying an officer’s order to stay in the car.
After repeated requests from the police officer and her husband to stay quiet, Reese Witherspoon’s antagonistic exchange with the police officer ended in her being handcuffed and charged.
In the video, an agitated Reese Witherspoon attempts to protest after husband Jim Toth was handcuffed after failing a field sobriety test.
The officer told the actress several times to sit down and stay in the car, much to her chagrin.
“I’m pregnant and I need to use the restroom,” she calls to the officer – but she later revealed on Good Morning America on Thursday was untrue.
Seemingly unable to listen, Reese Witherspoon gets out of the car and begins arguing with the officer who promptly arrests her.
“Do you know my name sir?” she asks the policeman, who responds with a curt, “Don’t need to know.”
“You don’t NEED to know my name?” she asks.
Reese Witherspoon appeared on Good Morning America on Thursday, in her first interview since her arrest
“You’re about to find out who I am,” the actress adds.
Clearly furious at being handcuffed, Reese Witherspoon begins to indignantly accuse the officer of harassment.
“I’m a U.S. citizen… I’m allowed to stand on American ground and ask any question I want to ask,” she screams.
“You’re harassing me as an American citizen. You better not arrest me.”
Even more damming for Reese Witherspoon was her husband’s rather embarrassed reaction to her outburst after she is handcuffed.
“I’m sorry. I had absolutely nothing to do with that,” Jim Toth told the officer.
Meanwhile, Reese Witherspoon pleaded “no contest” to charges stemming from her disorderly conduct arrest two weeks ago.
The actress was not in the Atlanta court to hear her lawyer Bruce Morris enter the plea on Thursday.
Reese Witherspoon was ordered to pay a $213 fine on the charge of “physical obstruction of another”, according to TMZ.
However, Jim Toth was in court to enter a guilty plea for DUI.
The judge told him: “Consider yourself fortunate you didn’t injure your passenger [Reese Witherspoon] and didn’t kill anyone.”
Jim Toth, a talent agent for CAA, received no jail time, but must perform 40 hours of community service and attend an alcohol education programme.
He has also been placed on probation for 12 months.
Reese Witherspoon appeared on Good Morning America on Thursday, in her first interview since her arrest.
Speaking publicly for the first time about the incident, the actress said: “It was just one of those nights – we went out to dinner and had one too many glasses of wine.
“We thought we were OK to drive but we definitely were not. We are just so sorry this happened. We know better than that. It’s something that will absolutely never happen again.
“I had no idea what I was thinking that night. I saw him arrest my husband and I just panicked. I said all kinds of crazy things to the officer. I even told him I was pregnant. I am not pregnant!”
When asked what she said to her children about the incident, Reese Witherspoon told ABC: “The worst part was having to speak to the kids.
“We are so embarrassed by it but we just had to tell them that when you make a mistake, you have to take responsibility. We were honest with them.”
Reese Witherspoon has two children aged 13 and 9 with her first husband Ryan Phillippe and an 8-month-old baby with Jim Toth.
Honey Boo Boo and her family have offered their own version of the Harlem Shake during a Good Morning America interview which aired last Friday.
“Good morning America, this is the Harlem Shake edition!” announced 7-year-old Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson towards the end of the interview.
As the popular music track sounded Honey Boo Boo broke into rapid dance on her front lawn in Georgia wearing a dress and fluffy rabbit slippers
Her mother, June Shannon, three sisters, and even GMA’s Amy Robach swiftly followed suit.
However, Honey Boo Boo’s father, Sugar Bear, missed the performance, as he was most likely at the local chalk mine, where he still works seven days a week.
GMA’s Amy Robach visited the reality stars to talk about their newfound fame.
She sat down with Honey Boo Boo and her mother June Shannon for a no-holds-barred interview.
But much of the interview was interrupted by Honey Boo Boo, who took the opportunity to share some of her favorite punchlines with viewers.
“Talk to the hand, talk to the man at Pizza Hut,” she exclaimed at one point.
But when June Shannon did get a word in, she opened up about parenting and her future plans.
“I want my kids to have their own personality,” June Shannon said.
“I allow them to be whoever they want.
“Whatever you do with your kids make sure they’re number one… Nobody will ever love Alana like I do.”
Honey Boo Boo and her family have offered their own version of the Harlem Shake during a Good Morning America interview which aired last Friday
On the subject of fame, June Shannon said that Honey Boo Boo “doesn’t actually realize how famous she is”.
The mother said that Honey Boo Boo only understands that her TLC money for Here Comes Honey Boo Boo reality show has gone into a trust fund for when she’s aged 21.
Despite being a celebrity herself, June Shannon said that she does not want her lifestyle to change and she enjoys helping the community,
She said her dream would be to “expand our house to two bedrooms and another bathroom” but it’s not at the top of her priority list.
There are a few home truths about an outing to the movies that cinephiles would probably rather not know and that might just change the way they think about their next visit.
Perhaps the most startling is that popcorn is often doused in coconut oil and chemicals to give it that irresistible aroma that wafts from the concession stand where cinemas make up to 40% of their revenue.
Not only this but punters should not be fooled by the churning machine and the warmth of the seemingly fresh popcorn; the tasty snack lasts for two days and might well be served up from yesterday’s batch.
A list compiled by Good Morning America andReader’s Digest also reveals how cinema employees themselves stay away from the pretzels, hot dogs and nachos knowing how stale and old they are and that the nacho cheese may have been sitting out for days before it is melted and poured over chips.
The only foods they trust according to an anonymous source who provided much of the information to Reader’s Digest, is the popcorn, boxed candy and beverages.
Moreover, between showings, the remnants of those snacks that are dropped all over the floors are hurriedly swept under seats rather than into the trash.
“Your suspicions are correct,” writes a cinema worker.
“Sometimes I sweep excess food under the seats. Movies often end every few minutes. Sometimes, three or more screenings end at the same time. I don’t always have time to clean everything up.”
Cinema popcorn is often doused in coconut oil and chemicals to give it that irresistible aroma
Employees aren’t that bothered either by cheeky cinema-goers who sneak in for double bills without paying or those who use cell phones, according to the list.
“I know all the methods you use to sneak in. I just don’t always care enough to kick you out for it,” says the source who explains that most people who use their phones are the young audience members that cinemas want to keep attracting, hence the lack of enforcement.
But they aren’t that relaxed when it comes to handing out free merchandise. At the end of the day an inventory is taken so extra cups are rarely provided for large soda sharers no matter how many times you ask.
Tech geeks who assume they are getting a better experience by going to see an “Extreme Digital” screening are mistaken if they believe it is better than Imax. Theatres charge more but it is lower quality than Imax and easier for the cinema to maintain.
Where you can ensure the best movie experience, however, is by picking a seat right in the middle of the auditorium where sound checks for optimal audio are conducted. Too far out to the side and sound might be distorted.
When it comes to the best deal for your cinema outing, GMA suggests getting discounts and coupons at Sam’s, Costco or Triple A where you can save 25% on ticket purchase.
Where you can’t save money though, is back at the concession stand.
“Combination deals don’t save you money at some theaters. You’d pay the same price if you purchased the items separately,” admits the Reader’s Digest source. But you can watch out for staffers trying to up sell a large popcorn for only 75 cents more than the medium.
Cinema employees tend to stick together, explains the employee. If you complain about something, “the manager might pretend to yell at me for a minute, but he’ll pat me on the back the moment you’re out of sight”.
After repeatedly clashing with co-anchors and overseeing plummeting ratings, the Today show’s Matt Lauer is reportedly being given the boot.
Matt Lauer, a long-time host, who earns a staggering $21.5 million a year, is being blamed for the NBC morning show’s dismal performance over the past three months and sources claim ratings will only improve if he is replaced.
According to The National Enquirer, weatherman Al Roker is plotting to push the 54-year-old TV veteran out of his anchor chair and is lobbying a newly appointed Today producer for help.
ABC rival Good Morning America leap-frogged the Today show after Ann Curry was controversially dumped as co-host in the summer and replaced with Savannah Guthrie.
“It’s just desserts. Matt is finally getting what he deserves!” a Studio 1-A set insider told The Enquirer.
“His years-long feuds with former co-hosts Katie Couric, Meredith Vieira and Ann Curry have taken their toll. Everyone has turned against him, and Matt is going to be ousted because he’s being blamed for the show’s collapse.”
A high profile former NBC News executive recently said the show needed a new frontman to turn its ratings around.
“This problem is not going to go away until Matt Lauer does,” the source said.
“He’s great, but fairly or unfairly, his brand is damaged.”
After repeatedly clashing with co-anchors and overseeing plummeting ratings, the Today show’s Matt Lauer is reportedly being given the boot
Al Roker, a loyal friend of Ann Curry, has been secretly working towards Matt Lauer’s demise for sometime, according to The Enquirer.
“Matt and Al used to be good buddies – until Al found out Matt had been instrumental in Ann’s ouster,” a Today source told the paper.
“They come across as friends on the air, but that’s all an act.”
The weatherman is reportedly campaigning for Today‘s 9 a.m. house co-host Willie Geist, 37, to take Matt Lauer’s sought-after seat.
“Adding a fresh new guy like Willie to the mix is just what Al feels <<Today>> needs to help pull the show out of the ratings doldrums and compete with <<GMA>>,” the source said.
RadarOnline.com recently reported that Alexandra Wallace was set to replace Jim Bell as the executive overseeing the NBC morning show and an insider told the website that she wasn’t afraid to ruffle “Lauer’s feathers”, to boost ratings.
Snooki and her castmates came together to spearhead the fundraising efforts to rebuild the Hurricane Sandy devastated Jersey Shore.
Snooki led the way on Monday morning when she made an early start on Good Morning America to appeal for funds.
And it was a success, with charitable fans donating $7 million. Thrilled Snooki tweeted: “Wow GMA raises 7 million! Thank you everyone for calling in!!!”
As a resident of the area Snooki has been busy tweeting to her many followers with appeals to help.
Snooki has also been updating them about her own situation, tweeting: “Back in jersey! Hope our power comes back this week!!”
Buildings were knocked down, roads swept away, the historic boardwalk partially destroyed, and a piece of the iconic Star Jet rollercoaster was left hanging into the ocean after the storm hit Sunset Height a week ago.
Snooki and her castmates came together to spearhead the fundraising efforts to rebuild the Hurricane Sandy devastated Jersey Shore
On November 15th, Snooki will appear alongside her former Jersey Shore castmates in a one-hour fundraising special.
The program will be broadcast from MTV’s Times Square studio in New York.
The network said on Monday that the program will solicit contributions for the rebuilding of Seaside Heights, the heart of the Jersey Shore and the principal setting for the Jersey Shore series.
For this effort, MTV will be partnering with Architecture for Humanity, a nonprofit organization that provides design and construction services to communities in need. Seaside Heights was among numerous coastal areas devastated by Sandy last week.
Snooki tweeted: “MTV, Arch For Humanity and I are coming together to help re-build Seaside stronger than ever. Join us November 15 on MTV.”
Tom Hanks dropped the F-word on live television at Good Morning America on Friday.
Tom Hanks, 56, was on GMA to promote his new film Cloud Atlas.
But he left GMA viewers spluttering into their cereal after letting slip with the swear word while demonstrating his accent in the film to host Elizabeth Vargas.
The blunder came after a clip was shown of Tom Hanks in character, ranting away in a British accent.
Afterwards the actor told the host: “The lesson to take away from that clip is <<Don’t mess with me, Liz Vargas>>.”
Elizabeth Vargas then challenged the Forest Gump star to recreate the accent in the studio, with Hanks cautioning: “[It’s] mostly swear words.”
The presenter replied: “If you say it with an accent like that, they won’t know.”
Tom Hanks dropped the F-word on live television at Good Morning America
Tom Hanks then started to ramble (putting on an accent) – before letting slip with the F-word.
Immediately, he stopped mid sentence and put his hand to his mouth.
Elizabeth Vargas apologized: “We are so sorry, Good Morning America.”
And Tom Hanks said: “Man, oh man, I’m sorry. I have never done that before.
“I want to apologize to the kids in America watching right now.
“And let me say the next time I’m on the show there will be a seven-second delay. … Man oh man!”
At five-foot-six, Edwin Velez weighed 300 pounds when he holidayed in the Bahamas last November.
When the 26-year-old from Albertville, Alabama, saw his holiday snaps, he said quickly realized his overweight body needed a drastic lifestyle change.
Making a vow that he would be in better shape for his next planned vacation the following March, Edwin Velez set himself the seemingly impossible task of losing 100 lbs in those four short months, a goal he not only reached, but exceeded.
“I woke up one morning and I was like: <<I’m going to do this. I’m going to do this now>>,” he told Good Morning America.
Cutting out white carbohydrates, Edwin Velez also changed his diet. He avoided sugar, anything carbonated, and all food which were colored white – including potatoes, white bread, pasta and rice; slowly introducing whole grain variations, instead.
“Being Hispanic made it extremely difficult because rice and beans and tortillas and breads and pastas are big part of our food,” he explained.
“Being the holidays, right around Christmas, I made my own meals and went and bought my own food, like grilled chicken and fish, so my family would have their food and I had my food.”
Of his rapid weight loss, he added that “drinking nothing but water was, like, the first 10 to 15 pounds and that came off probably within the first two to three weeks”.
“I would also go to the local track and start walking in the morning, and go that afternoon, every day,” he said.
“I went to the track because [I was too] self-conscious to go to the gym… so I just would go to the track by myself and I started there until I felt comfortable enough to go to the gym.”
Edwin Velez said he slowly began to jog as the pounds started dropping off and then, once was comfortable to enter the gym, added weightlifting to his workout.
“Adding the cardio to it – which, to me, unless you sweat, it’s not a workout – on a daily basis really helped with the weight loss, as well as watching what I ate.”
It has been six months since he reached his original goal, and now, Edwin Velez weighs 155 lbs, maintaining his healthy lifestyle.
“It’s not a diet, but it’s more of a lifestyle change,” he said.
“My body is used to eating healthy so I choose healthy choices.”
Good Morning America co-anchor Robin Roberts underwent her bone marrow transplant yesterday, surrounded by her closest friends and family.
The procedure, which saw donor stem cells from her sister Sally Ann injected into her body, took just five minutes, after which the group broke into a rendition of Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.
Robin Roberts, 51, who was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome, or MDS, earlier this year – a disease which attacks blood cells and bone – told GMA afterwards: “I will now wait and anxiously watch and see what happens.
“In the next seven to 10 days my counts will continue to go up and we’ll be on to phase three, which will be get out of here. Get out of here. Go home. It’s a journey.”
Robin Roberts underwent her bone marrow transplant yesterday, surrounded by her closest friends and family
The atmosphere beforehand was informal, with her sister by her side and a visit from her pastor to lead the group in prayer.
On arrival, surgeon Sergio Giralt was greeted with applause. He acknowledged the volume of people in the small room, joking: “What part of <<Let’s not have crowds did we not understand?>>”
ABC News co-workers Diane Sawyer and Sam Champion were among the intimate group present.
Sam Champion told GMA this morning: “It was emotional, scary but at the same time it was exhilarating. I don’t think I’ll ever forget the power and the love that was in that room.”
Though it is expected to be at least ten days before Robin Roberts starts to feel any improvement, her doctors say that she is in good spirits and recovering well.
Oncologist Dr. Gail Roboz revealed: “This morning [Robin] sounds energized and she wants to be out of bed and the end of the email was <<I want to go home>> with an exclamation point.”
The GMA host will be closely monitored by doctors over the next few days, as they wait to see if the new donor stem cells will take hold.
It is also crucial that they protect Robin Roberts from any possible germs or infection, as her immune system has been wiped out in preparation for the new cells, and she is vulnerable until they take hold.
Robin Roberts released a video to fans early yesterday morning, in which she thanked them for their love.
She looked frail in the film, most likely recorded the day prior, after eight days of intensive chemotherapy.
The treatment appeared to have taken its toll and Robin Roberts had clearly lost a significant amount of weight as she addressed the camera.
Sylvester Stallone has spoken out for the first time about his son’s death calling it a “horrible situation”.
Sylvester Stallone, 65, said he was “hanging in there” as he comes to terms with the death of his son Sage from a suspected drugs overdose.
Sage Stallone, 36, was found dead at his Los Angeles home last month.
A cause of death has not been determined but authorities believe the film producer died from a drugs overdose.
Sylvester Stallone has spoken out for the first time about his son's death calling it a “horrible situation”
Sylvester Stallone said of his son’s death: “It’s tough it’s very, very, tough.”
“But if you have good friends and your family’s support, it’s just something that’s a horrible situation but … hopefully it will heal and you try to get through it but it’s something that is a reality in life.”
Speaking on Good Morning America, Sylvester Stallone said he had been helped in his grief by family and friends.
He also said being involved with promoting his latest film Expendables 2 had helped.
“It’s important to get back and try to start reliving your life, otherwise you can go into a spiral,” he said.
Sage Stallone appeared with his father in the Rock V movie in 1990 and had been working as a producer at the time of his death on July 13th.
His mother claimed that her son had undergone extensive dental treatment in the week before his death when he had five teeth extracted.
She believed that he might have taken too many painkillers causing the accidental overdose.
After his son’s private funeral Sylvester Stallone took his family on a holiday to the Mediterranean on a hired yacht.
With co-stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jason Statham he has been promoting The Expendables 2.
Restaurant insiders from across the US have revealed what really goes on behind customers’ backs.
Tricks, such as adding extra sugar to kids’ meals so children enjoy them more, and that a daily “special” is often leftover ingredients that need to be used up, were revealed in the list of industry secrets compiled for Good Morning America by Reader’s Digest.
The mostly-anonymous group of wait staff also admitted some common lies told to customers.
One revealed that they would tell a vegetarian that a dish contained no meat stock, regardless of whether it did or not, just to sell the dish.
And a Kansas City waitress said that she will just serve decaf coffee after 8pm so she only has to clean one pot at the end of the night – but will confidently tell a customer that their coffee is caffeinated regardless.
“I’ll bring out a tray with 12 coffees on it and give some to the customers who ordered regular, others to the ones who ordered decaf. But they’re all decaf,” she admitted.
As for milk, they reveal very few outlets beyond Starbucks carry skimmed milk, and your skinny latte has most likely been made with 2% or whole milk instead because “it’s just not practical” to stock so many varieties.
Restaurant insiders from across the US have revealed what really goes on behind customers' backs
Even the most upscale breakfast buffets are not immune from shortcuts, with another revealing that “99 times out of 100” scrambled eggs are made with a powder instead of fresh eggs.
Kids’ meals are a shady area too: a waitress at a well-known pizza chain admitted: “We put sugar in our kids’ meals so kids will like them more. Seriously. We even put extra sugar in the dough for the kids’ pizzas.”
Some trade secrets are so offputting, it affects how wait staff order when they dine out themselves.
One waitress told Reader’s Digest that she would never have a lemon slice in her drink, having seen that the fruit are rarely washed before being sliced and handled by many different staff before they make it into a customer’s drink.
Another revealed that they would never order fish if dining on a Sunday or a Monday because a restaurant’s seafood deliveries usually come just twice a week so the freshest fish is most likely served between Tuesday and Friday.
The list also delves into the type of customer behaviour that servers respond to best – and in that, provide the best quality service.
First dates, especially blind dates, one Michigan waiter said, are great for tips because a guy will typically show off by ordering wine, and leave a generous 20-25% tip.
But diners can quickly lose favor with their waiter by doing something as simple as ordering hot tea – apparently the most annoying menu item to prepare.
“The single greatest way to get your waiter to hate you? Ask for hot tea,” a New York maître d’hôtel told the magazine.
“For some reason, an industry that’s managed to streamline everything else hasn’t been able to streamline that. You’ve got to get a pot, boil the water, get the lemons, get the honey, bring a cup and spoon. It’s a lot of work for little reward.”
This is not the first time that restaurant staff has lifted the lid on what goes on behind the scenes. Last month social news website Reddit asked fast food employees for “the one menu option at your employment that you would recommend people never eat?”
Within 24 hours, the conversation generated more than 6,000 comments revealing the alleged dodgy practices in fast-food chains, including some branches of Wendy’s, McDonalds and Subway.
The thread also offers some useful tips for customers to be aware of including, mouldy ice machines and how condiment containers can be endlessly refilled without being cleaned.
Chicken nuggets and grilled chicken were repeat offenders throughout the thread. One former McDonald’s employee warned against the chicken nuggets recalling: “I accidentally left a whole bag of about 100 chicken nuggets out on a counter for way too long. They melted. Into a pool of liquid.
“I never understood why. But they were completely indiscernible as being the nuggets I once knew.”
FIVE OF THE WORST RESTAURANT RUSES:
VEGETARIAN OPTIONS: “If you’re a vegetarian and you ask if we use vegetable stock, I’m going to say yes, even if we don’t. You’ll never know the difference.”
DAILY SPECIALS: “Watch out for the soup of the day. If it contains fish or if it’s some kind of <<gumbo>>, it’s probably the stuff they’re trying to get rid of.”
FISH: “Don’t order fish on Sunday or Monday. The fish deliveries are usually twice a week, so Tuesday through Friday are great days.”
KIDS’ MEALS: “We put sugar in our kids’ meals so kids will like them more. Seriously. We even put extra sugar in the dough for the kids’ pizzas.”
HOMEMADE: “[One boss would] go to Costco and buy this gigantic carrot cake for $10 and tell us to say it’s homemade. Then he sold it for $10 a slice.”
Robert Pattinson is scheduled to give his first interview next week on August 15 since news of his cheating girlfriend Kristen Stewart surfaced.
Robert Pattinson, 26, is due to appear on ABC’s Good Morning America, with the breakfast show securing the deal over their rival TODAY show.
The televised appearance ties in with his promotions for Cosmopolis.
Robert Pattinson is also expected to attend the red carpet premiere in New York City two days prior to the interview.
The David Cronenberg film, also starring Samantha Morton and Juliette Binoche, is based on the novel of the same name by Don DeLillo.
It tells the tale of billionaire Eric Packer (R-Patz) as he rides across Manhattan in his limousine, while embarking on a path of self-destruction.

Perhaps Robert Pattinson will relish the opportunity to focus on work, having been coping with the news that K-Stew cheated on him with Snow White And The Huntsman director Rupert Sanders.
Rupert Sanders, 41, has two children with British model Liberty Ross and has been photographed since the scandal still wearing his wedding ring.
Photographs emerged last month of Kristen Stewart in the arms of Rupert Sanders, crushing hopes that she would one day marry her Twilight co-star.
However, Robert Pattinson is reportedly coping well, taking timeout in Ojai, California, at Reese Witherspoon’s $7 million ranch.
Over the weekend he was spotted having “a few drinks and laughs” at a local country-western bar called Deer Lodge.
An employee of the bar told Radar: “I’ve been told by several people that Robert Pattinson was here enjoying the music with his friends.
“He seemed in good spirit. I wasn’t on that night so I didn’t personally see him, but several others did.”
Snooki and her fiancé Jionni LaValle are expecting a baby boy in September this year and she has revealed in an interview with Good Morning America today what they are going to name their pride and joy.
Snooki, 24, told JuJu Chang that they will be calling their little guido, Lorenzo.
“I think we’re going to do Lorenzo,” she revealed.
“Because then you can call him Enzo.”
She added that if the couple were going to have a girl, they would have called her Giada.
In her hit reality series Jersey Shore, Snooki has long been known as a hard-partying guidette, fond of drinking, “smushing” and tanning.
But now that she is expecting her first child, Snooki has only motherhood on the brain and that includes making big decisions such as whether to breastfeed her firstborn or not.
In the interview Snooki also revealed that she will not be breastfeeding her son when he arrives later this year.
Snooki said that she will be reaching for the breast pump instead.
“It just looks so painful,” she told JuJuChang.
“…But I definitely want to pump, because it has the best nutrients for your baby.”
Snooki, 24, told JuJu Chang that they will be calling their little guido, Lorenzo
Snooki, who did the interview alongside her fiancé Jionni LaValle, also discussed the recent controversial Time cover, which featured the headline Are You Mom Enough?, showing Jamie Lynne Grumet, a 26-year-old mother from Los Angeles, breastfeeding her almost four-year-old son.
“That freaks me out. I mean just drink regular milk,” she said.
When JuJu Chang showed the reality star a breast pump in a New York children’s store, Snooki likened the process to milking a cow.
“It is kind like your cow, you just milk it,” she said.
Meanwhile, Jionni LaValle admitted that a lot had changed since the couple found out that they were expecting.
“Last year it was <<Let’s go to Vegas for New Years>>… Now were going to Disney with the family,” he said.
Snooki, who admittedly loves to have a drink, insisted that not a drop of alcohol has passed her lips since finding out that she was pregnant.
“Obviously no drinking. None whatsoever. Like I am scared to even have caffeine,” she explained.
“All my friends are like <<You can have a glass of wine>>. I’m like <<No I refuse>> because I am going to be that person who has a glass of wine and it will come out with three legs.”
She said that she prefers to stay away from people who drink because it is tempting. This perhaps the reason why she recently moved out of the Jersey Shore house whilst filming the sixth season of the series.
“I don’t like to be around people that drink because then I will miss it,” she admitted to JuJu Chang.
As well as the booze, Snooki has also given up on her beloved tanning regime, but said she is embracing the new paler version of herself.
“I use bronzer on my legs but I didn’t today and look really pale,” she explained.
“I am actually embracing the paleness that comes along with it. It’s a new look.”
One thing that she will not be giving up anytime soon though is the sky-high heels that she has regularly been stepping out in throughout her pregnancy.
“I feel confident in them and I know I am not going to fall,” she said.
“So until it feels really uncomfortable, I am still going to rock them because I am only 24 and I am pregnant, but that doesn’t mean I have to wear flat and ugly shoes.”
Snooki also revealed that she will be upfront with her children when it comes to her controversial past.
“They’re going to Google it no matter what I say,” she said.
“So I’m just going to show them myself and say, <<This is what mommy did. Learn from her mistakes>>.”
Meanwhile Snooki’s ex-boyfriend Emilio Masella has denied that he leaked recent nude pictures that are allegedly of the reality star.
Last week photos which appear to be of the Jersey Shore star disrobing were circulating online.
Emilio Masella, who dated Snooki briefly at the start of 2010, told TMZ that he hadn’t even viewed the pictures until they emerged on the web.
He also insisted that he could not have had access to them in the first place because he believes the snaps were taken more recently, before the reality star got pregnant, judging by her slimmer figure.
Regardless, he said he simply does not care.
“I honestly don’t care. I’m trying to get rid of trash in my life … I’m done with her and moving on with my own career,” he said.
While the alleged pictures certainly looked like the brunette at first glance, it’s still unconfirmed if they’re legitimate or not.
In one photo a woman, who appears to be Snooki, is wearing a white robe.
The grainy photo is of the girl, wearing bright green nail polish, looking seductively into her own mobile device, as if she’s taking a self-portrait.
The next shot shows the robe being opened to reveal private parts, which have been crossed out by black bars.
The photos appear to have been taken in a hotel room as the sheets look like hotel-issued linens and there is a room service tray on the bed.
The third picture in the series is a close up of a girl’s full nude body. Again, the private parts have been black-boxed out.
