Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny have reunited as agents Dana Scully and Fox Mulder for a new season of TheX-Files series after a thirteen and a half year hiatus.
The latest teaser to give fans a taste of what is to come has been released and it shows the two former FBI agents in familiar territory.
Fox Mulder and Dana Scully are seen looking in the corners of darkened buildings a corners, both brandishing a torchlight.
Dana Scully also holds a gun as she looks into the darkness. Both look frightened as their faces are caught in the blaze from the flashlight.
As well as David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reprising their much-loved double act, the Smoking Man (William B Davis) and FBI head honcho Walter Skinner (Mitch Pileggi) are also set to return, with guest spots from Rhys Darby and Joel McHale as Tad O’Malley – an internet news anchor.
The X-Files will premiere on January 24, 2016, on Fox.
The X-Files is to return to TV after a 13-year hiatus with David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reprising their roles as FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.
Chris Carter, the original creator of the cult sci-fi show, will be at the helm when production starts this summer.
It is not yet known when it will air on TV.
The X-Files, which ran for nine seasons from 1993-2002, saw Fox Mulder and Dana Scully investigate unsolved mysteries and paranormal cases.
More than 200 episodes of The X-Files were made, making it the longest-running sci-fi series in US network TV history. Two feature films were also made – in 1998 and 2008.
Chris Carter said: “I think of it as a 13-year commercial break.
“The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories.”

To promote their appearance at Paley Center, Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny did a Q&A session with fans on Reddit and the couple encouraged fans to, “Come hang with us for the next two hours during our Ask Us (almost) Anything reddit!” and that is just what the fans did.

When he was asked: “One word to describe your 20-year journey together?” David Duchovny answered: “Amazing!”
The fans asked them a variety of question, one fan asked them about a new movie X-Files 3. David Duchovny was very straightforward and encouraged the fans to start a campaign: “I think Chris is working on a script. Chris is shooting a pilot right now, so he might not be working on a script, but he claims to be working on a script, and if he does do that and Fox wants to make it… Gillian will do it, I will do it, so start your writing campaign now. Seriously. We’d all love to do it. The ball is in Fox’s hands. And not Fox Mulder, Fox the studio.”
At one point in the chat someone mentioned that Gillian Anderson was hot and David Duchovny replied: “Yes. Gillian is every bit as hot, and hotter. It’s somewhat shocking.”
That was the tease and at the end of the chat they uploaded a photo with the following comment:“Thank you so much for coming by to ask us questions. We know it’s early. See you next time. We’re going to take a proof photo since so many of you have asked for it. Photo Proof!”
