According to TMZ, Chelsea O’Donnell’s birth mother Deanna, who gave her up for adoption in 1997, drove from Wisconsin to New York to pick Chelsea up on August 24, the day she turned 18 and is legally an adult.
Rosie O’Donnell allegedly cautioned Chelsea against leaving with Deanna and TMZ reports that the comedian has cut her off financially.
Deanna’s response to all questions about her daughter has been the same: “Leave my daughter out of Rosie’s stuff.”
Chelsea O’Donnell was found on August 18 in the company of 25-year-old Steven Sheerer.
Steven Sheerer was charged on August 24 with third-degree distribution of obs**nity to a minor and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, as Chelsea was only 17 at the time.

Chelsea O’Donnell, 17, was missing for more than a week when police discovered her at a New Jersey residence with Steven Sheerer, a convicted drug offender.

However, since Chelsea’s recovery, Rosie O’Donnell gave police permission to search the cell phone her daughter had been using.
According to police, “evidence of inappropriate communications over the last several weeks between Sheerer and the minor,” leading to his arrest on August 21 for third degree endangering the welfare of a child. It’s unclear what exactly the messages contained.
Steven Sheerer is being held in an Orange County jail on $40,000 bail, and could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
The man was previously charged with child endangerment in 2012, as well as heroin possession.

Rosie O’Donnell had previously revealed that Chelsea, who suffers from mental health issues, had been missing for a week.
