Ashley Judd and Dario Franchitti announce their split after 12 years of marriage
Actress Ashley Judd and her husband Dario Franchitti have announced their split after 12 years of marriage.
Ashley Judd, 44, and Scottish racing driver Dario Franchitti, 39, announced they were ending their marriage in a joint statement on Tuesday.
They told People.com: “We have mutually decided to end our marriage.
“We’ll always be family and continue to cherish our relationship based on the special love, integrity, and respect we have always enjoyed.”
A spokesman for Ashley Judd stressed that their decision to split was a mutual one, not one-sided.
Ashley Judd and Dario Franchitti tied the knot in December 2001 in Scotland in a private ceremony.
The actress’s sister, Wynonna, was the maid of honor while Dario’s borther Mario was the best man.
The couple got engaged in December 1999, while he was driving in the Champ Car World Series.
Since the demise of the contest Dario Franchitti went on to race for IndyCar and NASCAR.
They divided their time between Scotland and Tennessee, where they had a farm.
Ashley Judd and Dario Franchitti did not have any children together.
