An LA court has denied Britney Spears’ request to remove her father from his role overseeing her conservatorship.
Britney Spears’ lawyer asked to end Jamie Spears control of the singer’s estate, in November 2020.
They said Britney was “afraid of her father” and wanted him removed as her sole conservator – a role he has carried out since 2008.
Although the request has been denied, the ruling is not a response to Britney Spears’ explosive testimony in court last week.
Speaking for 23 minutes, she said she had been drugged, forced to perform against her will and prevented from having children.
“I just want my life back,” the star said, via phone, as she asked the court to end her conservatorship.
However, the judge cannot make a ruling based on Britney Spears’ statement until she files a formal petition to terminate the arrangement.
The documents filed on June 30 refer only to the November request, in which Spears asked for the private wealth management firm the Bessemer Trust to be appointed as her “sole conservator”.
Although Judge Brenda Penny refused to remove Jamie Spears from his position, she did agree to the Bessemer Trust’s role as co-conservator of Britney’s multi-million dollar estate.
In a separate development, Jamie Spears’ lawyers have asked the court to investigate Britney’s claims of abuse.
The LA court system has also ended a scheme allowing members of the press to listen to court proceedings remotely, after audio of Spears testimony was recorded and leaked online.
The move comes a week after Britney Spears delivered a blistering attack on the “abusive” conservatorship that has controlled her life for 13 years.
She told a judge she was traumatized and cried every day, adding: “I deserve to have a life.”
Britney Spears also said she had been denied the right to have more children and was put on the psychiatric drug lithium against her wishes.
The mother of two said she wanted to marry her boyfriend and have another baby, but the conservatorship would not allow her to. She claimed she was prevented from having a contraceptive intrauterine device (IUD) removed so she could get pregnant.

On June 29, Jamie Spears’ lawyers requested an inquiry into his daughter’s testimony.
His lawyers said he had no intention of returning as Britney’s personal conservator, but said he was “concerned ” about her well-being.

He then went all out to get a big name signing; and nobody could argue with Britney’s pedigree when she signed on the dotted line for the svengali.
Not only is she one of the biggest pop stars in the world; but her soap opera past lends the blonde an inherent fascination lacking in other stars.
But sadly that never translated into her on-screen presence, and Simon Cowell’s coup became a damp squib.
The blonde flubbed lines and often seemed disconnected from the the show’s narrative.
The December 20 second season finale was watched by 9.6 million viewers, down 18% from the first season finale.
Despite the setbacks, Simon Cowell himself is unlikely to be looking for another job anytime soon.
Artists discovered by the X Factor have sold more than 100 million records worldwide, including 110 No. 1’s, 270 Top 10, and 501 Top 50 releases – and the show has been commissioned in 41 territories.
Simon Cowell – who according to Forbes made $90 million last year alone – also saw his TV production business, Simco, boosted by 138% last year, mainly due to the launch of the Fox TV talent show.
His company also reported that total turnover almost doubled to £54.6 million ($87.89 million) in the year to 31 March 2012.
Lynne Spears, Britney Spears’ mother, has claimed her daughter’s former manager crushed drugs into the singer’s food.
Lynne Spears has told a US court that Osama “Sam” Lufti admitted to her that he did it five years ago to help Britney sleep.
At the time, Britney Spears was going through a public meltdown where she shaved her head, temporarily lost custody of her children and was briefly hospitalized.
Sam Lufti is suing Lynne Spears, saying she wrote lies about him.
Lynne Spears has been giving evidence in her defence.
On the claims Britney’s food was drugged in 2007, Lynne Spears told the court: “Those were his exact words.”
“I was very worried and I didn’t know what to do so I tried to get her away from there.”

She also claims Sam Lufti cut off Britney Spears’ communication by detaching her phone lines.
On cross-examination, Lynne Spears said that despite her worry about Britney she didn’t call police.
She also admitted that she was estranged from her daughter for a brief period in 2007 and Osama Lufti told her he wanted to help reunite them.
The accusations refer to the year Osama Lufti said he was Britney Spears’ manager, before he was let go from her team in 2008.
Sam Lufti is suing the star’s parents and Britney herself. He says Lynne Spears made damaging claims about him in her 2008 book Through the Storm.
He is also suing Jamie Spears, the singer’s father, for punching him.
Osama Lufti is seeking a share of Britney Spears’ fortune saying he had an agreement to act as her manager in exchange for 15% of her earnings.
He’s always maintained he was a friend of Britney Spears who tried to help the singer get clean of drugs.
Britney Spears, now 30, has since made a comeback, most recently with a judging slot on The X-Factor USA.
A host of celebrities have paid tribute to Whitney Houston as part of a special Grammy television show in Los Angeles.
Britney Spears, Halle Berry and LL Cool J were among the presenters at the Nokia Theatre honoring Whitney Houston who died in February aged 48.
There were also musical performances from Jennifer Hudson and Usher who sang some of Whitney Houston’s hits.

The event was attended by Whitney Houston’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, and record label executive Clive Davis, who discovered the singer.
Whitney Houston was found dead in a Beverly Hills hotel bathtub the night before this year’s Grammy awards.
Authorities said the cause of death was accidental drowning brought on by cocaine use and heart disease.

In the shoot, Britney Spears strikes a pose in a gold embellished dress with feathered sleeves, lots of bangles and a gold headpiece.
The singer also has Cleopatra-style heavy eyeliner on her eyes, with her long blonde hair hanging down.
