Bobby Brown, 43, and Whitney Houston have both struggled with drug addiction and although their daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown has been forced to deny rumors she has also been abusing illegal drugs.
The singer believes his daughter is ”smart enough” not to follow in his footsteps.
Bobby Brown told MTV: ”Any parent that has a teenager in their life, they go through things. They go through phases that they might not be doing exactly what you want them to do in life, but they grow out of it, and my baby girl has grown out of it. I trust and believe that she’s smart enough to not go down the same road that maybe I did in the past or her mother did in the past. She’s extremely smart.”

Bobbi Kristina Brown is now focusing on launching an acting and music career since her mother died of accidental drowning caused by cardiac failure after taking cocaine in February and her dad is extremely proud of his daughter.
Bobby Brown said: ”That’s my baby girl. She’ll forever be my baby girl. She’s doing what she’s doing, and I’m extremely proud of her. She’s acting and she’s working on music and she’s doing what she has to do to recover from her loss – our loss.”
While father and daughter have a difficult relationship, Bobby Brown has denied reports that Bobbi Kristina wants to ditch the surname Brown.

Debuting the track on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, Bobby Brown, 43, appeared emotional as he sang through the lyrics, all whilst wearing a pair of sunglasses onstage.
In the track Bobby Brown seemingly admits some kind of wrong doing, singing how he “messed up pretty bad”.
“I guess I messed up pretty bad … I didn’t know who you were … I didn’t know what we had. Now I’m stuck living in the past …trying to get the pieces back … but I guess now you’re gone,” he sang.
“I didn’t realize that every breath I took was from you … You were my air.”

The new track will be featured on Bobby Brown’s new album The Masterpiece, which will be released on June 5.
It is the first album he has recorded since his 1997 LP Forever.
It comes after Bobby Brown hit back at claims last month that he was responsible for introducing his former wife to the drugs, which played a part in her untimely death.
“I didn’t get high [on narcotics] before I met Whitney,” Bobby Brown told The Today Show’s Matt Lauer.
“I smoked weed, I drank the beer, but no, I wasn’t the one that got Whitney on drugs at all.”
He said drugs were a part of the singer’s life “way way before” they got together. Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown married in 1993 and had daughter Bobbi Kristina, now 19-years-old, before divorcing in 2007.
Bobby Brown added: “It’s just unexplainable how one could, [say that I] got her addicted to drugs. I’m not the reason she’s gone.”

Now on tour with bandmates New Edition, Bobby Brown, 43, says he is ready to return to his solo career with the album The Masterpiece, due out June 5.
“It’s what I’ve been through throughout my life, and just trying to heal myself through my music,” Bobby Brown said in a recent interview.
The Masterpiece is Bobby Brown’s first album in 14 years. He was a multiplatinum star with New Edition and later developed his solo career. But his well-documented battle with drugs and his legal woes led to his musical decline. His turbulent marriage to Whitney Houston further eroded his image.

In a recent interview with the Today show’s Matt Lauer, Bobby Brown denied that he got his late ex-wife addicted to drugs. Whitney Houston’s career was derailed by her drug use, which came to the public’s attention during her marriage to Bobby Brown. The superstar drowned in February in Beverly Hills, California; her death was complicated by heart disease and cocaine use, according to authorities.
“The Matt Lauer interview was just for me to clear the air about what everyone was feeling about my ex-wife’s death,” the singer said.
Although he was arrested for DUI in March, Bobby Brown insists he has been drug-free for more than seven years. He said his attempt to get his life in order is part of the reason why the album took so long to make.
“When you’re working on yourself, you have to really concentrate on working on yourself and it takes a back seat to what you want to do and what I’m gonna do,” Bobby Brown said.
Bobby Brown says The Masterpiece, which he started working on last year, is “the best album I’ve done so far”.
“But I’m going to do better in the near future,” he said.
“I just want to get back to what I do, which is entertainment, and this is the start to me getting back to what I want to do.”
Bobby Brown is engaged to his manager, Alicia Etheridge, with whom he has a young son. He also has other older children, including 19-year-old Bobbi Kristina, his only child with Whitney Houston.
Bobby Brown said he and Alicia Etheridge plan a private wedding, and described his life as content.
“I’m happy right now in my life, I’m comfortable with who I am,” he said.
“It’s just better.”
Bobby Brown will marry his two-year long fiancée Alicia Etheridge in Hawaii on the weekend of June 15th.

“She desperately needs rehab and therapy, but she doesn’t want to hear that,” adds the insider, noting that a Houston family intervention had failed.
