“The conclusion, in my judgment, with which my colleagues Lord Justice Bean and Lord Justice Edith agreed, was that the Duke of Sussex’s appeal would be dismissed,” Sir Geoffrey stated.

The court found that Ravec’s decision to provide Prince Harry with security on a “case-by-case” basis, depending on the reason for his presence in the UK and the functions he is carrying out, was “understandable and perhaps predictable” given his changed status.

Prince Harry, who now resides in California with his wife Meghan and their two children, was not present for the judgment. His legal team had previously argued that his private security arrangements in the US do not have the same access to UK intelligence and that he faces ongoing threats, including from terrorist groups.

The Home Office, which is legally responsible for Ravec’s decisions, opposed the appeal, arguing that the security arrangements for the Duke were bespoke and appropriate to his current role.

This latest ruling appears to exhaust Prince Harry’s legal avenues in this particular challenge. The final two charges involve the alleged indecent assault of a woman in 2001, by “grabbing her arm and dragging her towards a male toilet,” and the sexual assault of another woman between 2004 and 2005, involving alleged kissing and grabbing of her breasts and buttocks, both said to have taken place in Westminster.

The allegations first surfaced in a joint investigation by The Sunday Times, The Times, and Channel 4’s Dispatches program in September 2023. Brand has consistently denied these accusations, stating he has “never engaged in non-consensual activity.” Prior to his court appearance today, Brand posted a video on social media reiterating his denial and stating he welcomed the opportunity to prove his innocence.

During the 12-minute hearing, Judge Goldspring referred the case up to the Crown Court, known as the Old Bailey. Brand was instructed to provide both his US and UK addresses to the court. When asked if he understood his bail conditions, he replied, “Yes.” His next court appearance is scheduled for May 30th.

The women who have made reports are continuing to receive support from specially trained officers, according to Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy. NEW YORK, NY – Legendary actor Robert De Niro has publicly and unequivocally expressed his love and support for his daughter Airyn, who has come out as transgender. In a heartfelt statement released shortly after Airyn shared her story in an interview with LGBTQ+ online magazine Them, the two-time Oscar winner made it clear that his affection for his child remains steadfast.  

Airyn De Niro, 29, who was born Aaron, spoke candidly to Them about her journey of self-discovery and her decision to embrace her transgender identity. She shared her experiences growing up as one of De Niro’s seven children with actress and model Toukie Smith, noting that her parents largely kept her out of the public eye, something she remains grateful for.  

In response to his daughter’s revelation, Robert De Niro, 81, issued a simple yet powerful statement: “I loved and supported Aaron as my son, and now I love and support Airyn as my daughter. I don’t know what the big deal is. I love all my children.”  

Airyn’s interview with Them touched on her feelings of being a “late bloomer” in understanding her gender identity and the challenges of navigating societal expectations around race and gender. She also highlighted the inspiration she found in seeing other trans women, particularly Black trans women, living openly and authentically. Airyn began hormone replacement therapy last November.  

“I think a big part of [my transition] is also the influence Black women have had on me,” Airyn told Them. “I think stepping into this new identity, while also being more proud of my Blackness, makes me feel closer to them in some way.”

Following the publication of her interview, Airyn took to Instagram to express her gratitude for the outpouring of support she has received. “Thank you to everyone who’s been so sweet and supportive! I’m not used to all these eyes on me,” she wrote.

Mahdawi, a 34-year-old legal permanent resident of ten years, was taken into custody on April 14th while attending what he believed to be a routine interview to finalize his US citizenship. The government had argued for Mahdawi’s continued detention under the Immigration and Nationality Act, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio citing his presence and activities as having “serious adverse foreign policy consequences” and compromising a “compelling US foreign policy interest.” A government attorney further pointed to a 2015 FBI investigation into alleged threatening comments made by Mahdawi, but Judge Crawford noted that the FBI appeared to have determined those accusations were fabricated and the case was closed.
