Every person at some point in his life must choose the professional field in which he wants to work. Therefore, they must write the graduate school essay or other sort of work. Students who make this choice consciously understand what their aspirations are and what their future work is. As a rule, such students study with pleasure, take an active part not only in the public but also in the scientific life of a higher educational establishment. Already from the first year, an experienced teacher can notice in his wards ability to find and analyse information about an object of interest to him. A student who shows interest in the subject gives additional time to study participates in special events devoted to his topic is interested in news, will necessarily attract the attention of the staff of the department.

So what is the correct approach to writing the abstract, diploma, course work or any other work? If you do not want to buy research paper online but decided to write the work themselves you have to remember a few tips.

Probably, most do not like to execute the course, abstracts, diploma work. This is understandable, hours of tedious monotonous work and ultimately the headache. But there are a couple of tips that can ease your work and in some cases save yourself from early grey hair.

Many students combine all work into one file together with the title page. Sometimes it’s easier to spread everything down the shelves, the title page of one document, the introduction to the other, each section separately and so on. First, it’s easier to navigate. Secondly, it’s easier to find the right material, without turning half the text into a search for the desired section, and print it easier. If it’s difficult to write structured text then you can ask for help in any affordable essay writing service, for example scoobydomyessay.com.

Beware …

Never. Remember! Never store your abstracts, courses, diplomas only on removable media. Always have several copies of your work on a computer, a flash drive and you can even write to a disc. When you discard a flash drive or hard drive on a computer laptop, and this is according to the universal law of silence happens on the very last day, you simply copy it to another media.

Use them if you know, and if you do not know, then find and learn. Using keyboard shortcuts will greatly speed up your work. Paste (Ctrl + V), Copy (Ctrl + C), Cut (Ctrl + X) are the most used commands that run much faster on the keyboard than with the mouse. And there are so many teams.

Remember, first reading and correcting spelling and punctuation errors. After executing the text, follow the intervals, and then insert the frames, if necessary. Otherwise, you will have to process a number of times all the frames that constantly go away or completely disappear from the changes made to the text. Any descriptive essay or research work needs literacy.

Do not confuse a spoken language with a literary one. In this case, it is not necessary to make it difficult to construct sentences. Be easier. Do not overdo the volume of your work. If the text is longer, it does not mean that it will be better. The volume should not exceed the number of pages accepted for this type of work at your institution.

The main thing

Do not delay writing the abstract thesis or course paper to the last. It’s better to do a little bit every day than ever before in the last days. Only then will your text be good and contain the slightest mistakes.

Thesis writing may be easier than you think

Thesis writing – these two simple words are sometimes enough to make students weak in the knees with fear. But in fact, there’s no reason to worry. Just use these three simple steps while working on your thesis – and you’ll see how much easier it will be for you.

Standard format. Writing advice

All those strict format and structure requirements may seem unnecessary, but they exist for a reason. They will help you as a student not to get lost in your own academic thesis writing and to understand where you need to start and where you need to draw a bottom line.

Your thesis content may be immaculate, but unless you take special care to bring its layout and structure into compliance with all requirements, you’ll never get a higher grade.

So here’s our advice: always follow all the requirements your thesis supervisor sets for you.

Step 1: creating an outline

Now you get to the most interesting part, though not the easiest one: choosing your thesis topic and creating your work outline. The ideal option would be to choose a topic that’s really interesting. The more practical option is to choose the one you can find a lot of information on. The sensible middle would be to choose a topic you’ve already worked on in the past, which will definitely make your research writing much easier.

No matter what topic your choose, the outline has to comply with the standard structure:

  • Introductory part;
  • Main part (at least 3 sections with subsections based on the “general-to-specific” principle;
  • Conclusions;
  • Exhibits (don’t disregard this part: charts, diagrams and statistics will make your thesis much more understandable and consistent);
  • List of references.

Another bit of advice: see your supervisor in about two weeks after you got your thesis assignment and show him your outline and your list of references. Ask what other sources he can recommend.

Step 2: looking for information.

Now you need to find information to support each part of your outline. Remember that even if there’s tons of information, you can’t just take chunks of texts written by others and put them in your thesis. You don’t only need to use your writing skills, but also learn how to express your own ideas based on the information you’ve analyzed and compile information to create a coherent, consistent and unique text. In case you use quotes (and it’s very likely you will use them), you’ll have to provide reference for each of them.

One of the useful writing strategies is to write down any ideas or statements that come into your mind in a notebook — you can always use the best ones, as scoobydomyessay. This method can inspire unexpected discoveries and take into account even smallest details that may ensure the highest quality of your work.

Step 3: writing introduction and conclusion

After the first two steps are behind, you can start writing your thesis introduction and conclusion parts. The introductory part must explain why your thesis topic is relevant, state your research goals, define the main hypothesis, as well as main definitions and describe your work structure.

Conclusion is basically an enhanced and more detailed version of the introduction part. It’s where you have to confirm or disprove your main hypothesis and say something about the future prospects of research on the subject. You can finish your work by asking a thought-provoking question.

Of course, you can contact a professional writing service if you don’t want to bother writing your thesis by yourself. But in this case you’ll lose an opportunity to try and improve your writing, analyzing skills and critical thinking. Even thesis writing can bring satisfaction. It only depends on you how interesting the process is going to be.

Maths genius Maryam Mirzakhani, the first woman to receive the prestigious Fields Medal for mathematics, has died in the US qt the age of 40.

The Iranian, a professor at Stanford University, had breast cancer which had spread to her bones.

Nicknamed the “Nobel Prize for Mathematics”, the Fields Medal is only awarded every four years to between two and four mathematicians under 40.

The prize was given to Prof. Maryam Mirzakhani in 2014 for her work on complex geometry and dynamical systems.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said Maryam Mirzakhani’s death caused “great sorrow,” state media reported.

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said her death was a cause for grief for all Iranians.

US-Iranian scientist Firouz Naderi posted on Instagram: “A light was turned off today. It breaks my heart… gone far too soon.”

Firouz Naderi added in a subsequent post: “A genius? Yes. But also a daughter, a mother and a wife.”

Maryam Mirzakhani and her husband, Czech scientist Jan Vondrak, had one daughter.

Some social media users criticized Iranian officials for not using recent images of Maryam Mirzakhani which showed her uncovered hair. Iranian women must cover their hair in line with a strict interpretation of Islamic law on modesty.

Iranian official media and politicians used older pictures in their social media tributes, which show her hair covered.

Stanford University President Marc Tessier-Lavigne described Prof. Maryam Mirzakhani as “a brilliant mathematical theorist and also a humble person who accepted honors only with the hope that it might encourage others to follow her path”.

“Maryam is gone far too soon but her impact will live on for the thousands of women she inspired to pursue math and science,” he said.

“Her contributions as both a scholar and a role model are significant and enduring and she will be dearly missed here at Stanford and around the world.”

Born in 1977, Maryam Mirzakhani was brought up in post-revolutionary Iran and won two gold medals in the International Mathematical Olympiad as a teenager.

She earned a PhD at Harvard University in 2004, and later worked at Princeton before securing a professorship at Stanford in 2008.

Maryam Mirzakhani’s receipt of the Fields Medal three years ago ended a long wait for women in the mathematics community for the prize, first established in 1936.

She was also the first Iranian to receive it.

The citation said Maryam Mirzakhani had made “striking and highly original contributions to geometry and dynamical systems” and that her most recent work constituted “a major advance”.

If you have been injured in an accident you may be considering a personal injury claim for damages to help pay for the costs related to medical care, lost wages, or repairs to material possessions. There are thousands of personal injury attorneys out there – how do you choose the one who is best suited to handle your claim? We’ve compiled a list of 6 things to keep in mind when choosing a personal injury attorney to represent you.

It may seem like an odd thing to consider when choosing a personal injury attorney to represent you in your quest for compensation. However, it is important to choose an attorney with whom you can be 100% open and honest. Failure to communicate openly with your attorney can lead to disaster. Most of the time, we tend to be open with people we are comfortable with.

If you are fearful of your attorney or don’t trust them, what are the chances of establishing transparency and good communication? The more comfortable you are with your personal injury attorney, the more successful your case will be.

Experience Matters

A personal injury attorney’s record and experience are great indicators of whether they’ll be well-suited to handle your claim. While experience should by no means be the only factor you consider, it is helpful to gauge whether or not they are equipped to handle your claim. Attorneys with experience understand what to look for, which details can make or break a case, and how to best apply the facts of your specific case to general legal concepts.

New attorneys with little to no experience may have a general idea of how to approach a case, but may not have had the opportunity to really fine-tune their approach. Many times, however, new attorneys will practice under the supervision of older, more experienced attorneys, so it is important to take this into consideration.

Specialization Within Personal Injury

Personal injury attorney” is a broad title that really captures a great number of areas of specialization. While many personal injury attorneys will be open to handling just about any “personal injury” case, others have specific areas of focus. For example, some attorneys may specialize in slip and fall/premises liability/negligence cases, others focus on medical malpractice claims, while others specialize in claims stemming from car/motorcycle/truck accidents.

While each of these attorneys may advertise him or herself as a personal injury attorney, his or her area of specialization is more specific. Finding an attorney whose specialty aligns with your accident can help to maximize recovery. Attorneys will be familiar with nuances of the specific area of law in which they generally focus.

They’ll Stake Their Reputation on It

Personal injury attorneys develop reputations with clients, adversaries, courts, experts, and just about everyone else they encounter on a daily basis. An attorney with a better reputation will be more likely to be successful in negotiating a better settlement for an injured client. To find the right personal injury attorney for your case, try getting recommendations from friends or family.

Technology and the internet have really expanded our ability to research and learn about personal injury attorneys in our local area(s). Try checking websites such as Avvo, Martindale, Super Lawyers, and Nolo to see what others have to say about your potential personal injury attorney.

Client Load

Busy law offices can indicate a successful legal practice. However, if you have a seemingly minor personal injury claim that won’t generate much of a fee for the attorney you choose, your claim may not receive the attention it deserves if an attorney is overextended. Just because an attorney has a heavy client load does not necessarily mean that they will neglect your case. In many law offices, attorneys are able to assign legal tasks to paralegals or other attorneys in the office so that the caseload can be handled efficiently and effectively.

When deciding if an attorney is right for you, it is simply important to ask questions that will determine whether they have the requisite time to properly tend to your case. Fortunately, research about an attorney’s experience, reputation, and personality may help to shed some light on this ability.

Most personal injury attorneys work on a contingency fee basis. This means that they do not charge an up-front fee, but collect a percentage of your settlement or award at the end of your case. This allows injured clients to obtain necessary legal counsel without worrying about paying for unanticipated medical expenses, fixing a car or motorcycle, or dealing with lost wages due to missing work in addition to expensive legal fees. It is important, though, to ask personal injury attorneys for the exact percentage that they will take and whether this percentage covers court costs and fees.

Alternatively, some attorneys may request a small amount of money up-front to pay for filing fees, court costs, expert witnesses, and other expenses associated with a personal injury claim.

Earth Day is observed every year on April 22, when more than one billion people across the world mark the event by showing support for environmental protection.

Festivals, rallies and outdoor events are held in nearly 200 countries – often, with the support of A-list celebrities and political leaders.

Earth Day marks the anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970 and aims to encourage people across the world to be more environmentally friendly.

This might mean increasing the amount they recycle, volunteering for a local green project or installing solar panels in their home.

The very first event for Earth Day, which was held in America following a devastating oil spill, is credited as the beginning of the modern environmental movement. The idea for a national day to focus on the environment came to Earth Day founder Gaylord Nelson, then a Senator from Wisconsin, after witnessing the ravages of the 1969 massive oil spill in Santa Barbara, California.

April 22, falling between Spring Break and Final Exams, was selected as the date to celebrate Earth Day.

The height of counterculture in the US, 1970 brought the death of Jimi Hendrix, the last Beatles album, and Simon & Garfunkel’s Bridge Over Troubled Water. War raged in Vietnam and students nationwide overwhelmingly opposed it.

Since its launch, Earth Day has been supported by an array of famous people like Leonardo DiCaprio and Emma Watson.

Now it is coordinated globally by the non-profit Earth Day Network, which describes it as “the largest secular holiday in the world”.

Each year, festivals, parades and rallies are held in at least 192 countries to demonstrate support for environmental protection.

Earth Day has its own flag, which was created by peace activist John McConnell and features a picture of the world on it.

It also has its own anthems – one of which is performed to the tune of Beethoven’s Ode To Joy, but with lyrics about protecting the planet.

In 2017, more than one billion people are expected to celebrate Earth Day. Earth Day 2017’s Campaign is Environmental & Climate Literacy.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has announced that his company will unveil an electric articulated truck in September 2017.

Additionally, the Tesla CEO said an electric pick-up truck would be shown off in around 18-24 months.

In 2016, Elon Musk expressed the company’s desire to branch out beyond cars.

However, analysts are concerned Tesla will not meet demand for its current projects.

The Model 3, a more mid-market car compared to what Tesla currently offers, has 400,000 pre-orders – vastly more than the company can manufacture in a year. The Model 3 is due to go into production later this year.

However, despite this hurdle, investors seem confident that Elon Musk will meet his ambitious promises – Tesla’s surging stock price saw it briefly become the most valuable car maker in the US on April 10.

Speaking about the truck, Elon Musk said his team had done an “amazing job” and the vehicle would be “seriously next level”.

In a string of tweets sent out on April 13, Elon Musk also said that the next version of its roadster sports car will be a convertible.

Elon Musk has launched Neuralink, a start-up which aims to develop technology that connects our brains to computers.

A report from the Wall Street Journal, later confirmed in a tweet by Elon Musk, said Neuralink was in its very early stages and registered as a “medical research” company.

Neuralink will develop so-called “neural lace” technology which would implant tiny electrodes into the brain.

The technique could be used to improve memory or give humans added artificial intelligence.

According to the Journal, leading academics in the field have been signed up to work at the company which is being funded privately by Tesla chief executive.

Specialists in the field envision a time when humans may be able to upload and download thoughts.

In a tweet on March 28, Elon Musk confirmed the existence of Neuralink and said more details about the company would be made public next week via WaitButWhy – a site known for illustrating its lengthy post with often crude but charming stick figure drawings.

Elon Musk is considered one of Silicon Valley’s most visionary figures – and surely now its busiest.

As well as heading electric carmaker Tesla, Elon Musk is involved with running space exploration company Space X, a project to reinvent transport called Hyperloop and, most recently, a company investigating the feasibility of boring tunnels underneath Los Angeles – and a new project to power Australia.

Tweeting about Neuralink, Elon Musk conceded it would be “difficult to dedicate the time, but existential risk is too high not to”.

According to the UN’s World Happiness Report, Norway is the happiest place on Earth, toppling neighbor Denmark from the number one position.

The report measures “subjective well-being” – how happy the people are, and why.

Denmark, Iceland, Switzerland and Finland round out the top five while the Central African Republic came last.

Western Europe and North America dominated the top of table, with the US at 14th.

Countries in sub-Saharan Africa and those hit by conflict have predictably low scores. Syria placed 152 of 155 countries – Yemen and South Sudan, which are facing impending famine, came in at 146 and 147.

The World Happiness Report was released to coincide with the UN’s International Day of Happiness on March 20.

It mainly relies on asking a simple, subjective question of more than 1,000 people every year in more than 150 countries.

“Imagine a ladder, with steps numbered from 0 at the bottom to 10 at the top,” the question asks.

“The top of the ladder represents the best possible life for you and the bottom of the ladder represents the worst possible life for you. On which step of the ladder would you say you personally feel you stand at this time?”

The average result is the country’s score – ranging from Norway’s 7.54 to the Central African Republic’s 2.69. But the report also tries to analyze statistics to explain why one country is happier than another.

The report looks at factors including economic strength (measured in GDP per capita), social support, life expectancy, freedom of choice, generosity, and perceived corruption.

This year’s report also contains a chapter titled “restoring American happiness”, which examines why happiness levels in the US are falling, despite constantly-increasing economic improvement.

“The United States can and should raise happiness by addressing America’s multi-faceted social crisis – rising inequality, corruption, isolation, and distrust – rather than focusing exclusively or even mainly on economic growth,” the authors said.

“America’s crisis is, in short, a social crisis, not an economic crisis.”

According to Jeffrey Sachs, the director of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network, which published the report, President Donald Trump’s policies were likely to make things worse.

“They are all aimed at increasing inequality – tax cuts at the top, throwing people off the healthcare rolls, cutting Meals on Wheels in order to raise military spending. I think everything that has been proposed goes in the wrong direction,” Jeffrey Sachs told Reuters.

The report also suggests that professional “white collar” jobs are associated with improved happiness over “blue collar” roles – but that having a job at all is one of the biggest factors.

While “those in well-paying jobs are happier and more satisfied with their lives”, that effect has diminishing returns – “an extra $100 of salary is worth much more to someone at the lower end of the income distribution than someone already earning much more”.

The World Happiness Report has been published for the past five years, during which the Nordic countries have consistently dominated the top spots.

The clear dominance of those countries – and Denmark in particular – has encouraged other nations to adopt the Danish concept of “Hygge” – a cultural concept of coziness and relaxation.

According to Egypt’s antiquities minister Khaled el-Anani, an ancient statue which was pulled from the mud in Cairo is not the Pharaoh Ramses II, but could be another king.

The minister told a news conference the statue was almost certainly Psamtek I, who ruled between 664 and 610BC.

Experts had thought the statue was Ramses, who ruled 600 years earlier, because it was close to a temple dedicated to the ruler.

However, one of Psamtek’s five names was found engraved on the huge statue.

Even so, the find is still significant, Khaled el-Anani said.

The discovery was made after they moved the statue – which was 29ft tall originally – from a wasteland in between apartment blocks on the site of the ancient capital, Heliopolis, to the Egyptian museum in central Cairo.

It was found by an Egyptian-German archaeological team, and was partially submerged in water, and had split into a number of parts. Its torso alone weighed three tonnes.

Egypt’s Ministry of Antiquities said it hoped the two parts could be put back together again.

It appears Kim Jong-nam, the half brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, has been killed in Malaysia by a highly toxic nerve agent called VX.

The VX nerve agent is the most potent of the known chemical warfare agents. It is a clear, amber-colored, oily liquid which is tasteless and odorless.

The agent works by penetrating the skin and disrupting the transmission of nerve impulses – a drop on the skin can kill in minutes. Lower doses can cause eye pain, blurred vision, drowsiness and vomiting.

VX can be disseminated in a spray or vapor when used as a chemical weapon, or used to contaminate water, food, and agricultural products.

It can be absorbed into the body by inhalation, ingestion, skin contact, or eye contact.

Clothing can carry VX for about 30 minutes after contact with the vapor, which can expose other people.

VX was banned by the 1993 UN’s Chemical Weapons Convention.

A record seven Earth-sized planets orbiting a single star have been detected.

The astronomers say that all seven exoplanets could potentially support liquid water on the surface, depending on the other properties of those planets.

However, only three are within the conventional “habitable” zone where life is considered a possibility.

The compact system of exoplanets orbits Trappist-1, a low-mass, cool star located 40 light-years away from Earth.

The planets, detected using NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope and several ground-based observatories, are described in the journal Nature.

Lead author Michaël Gillon, from Belgium’s University of Liège, said: “The planets are all close to each other and very close to the star, which is very reminiscent of the moons around Jupiter.

“Still, the star is so small and cold that the seven planets are temperate, which means that they could have some liquid water – and maybe life, by extension – on the surface.”

Co-author Amaury Triaud, from the University of Cambridge, UK, said the team had introduced the “temperate” definition to broaden perceptions about habitability.

Three of the Trappist-1 planets fall within the traditional habitable zone definition, where surface temperatures could support the presence of liquid water – given sufficient atmospheric pressure.

However, Dr. Amaury Triaud said that if the planet furthest from the parent star, Trappist-1h, had an atmosphere that efficiently trapped heat – a bit more like Venus’s atmosphere than Earth’s – it might be habitable.

The six inner planets have orbital periods that are organized in a “near-resonant chain”. This means that in the time that it takes for the innermost planet to make eight orbits, the second, third and fourth planets revolve five, three and two times around the star, respectively.

This appears to be an outcome of interactions early in the evolution of the planetary system.

The astronomers say it should be possible to study the planets’ atmospheric properties with telescopes.

However, the astrophysicist also warns that we must remain extremely careful about inferring biological activity from afar.

Some of the properties of cool, low mass stars could make life a more challenging prospect. For example, some are known to emit large amounts of radiation in the form of flares, which has the potential to sterilize the surfaces of nearby planets.

In addition, the habitable zone is located closer to the star so that planets receive the heating necessary for liquid water to persist. But this causes a phenomenon called tidal locking, so that planets always show the same face to their star.

This might have the effect of making one side of the planet hot, and the other cold.

Dr. Amaury Triaud said UV light might be vital for producing the chemical compounds that can later be assembled into biological systems. Similarly, if life emerges on the permanent night side of a tidally locked planet, it might be sheltered from any flares.

However, he said the Trappist-1 star was not particularly active, something it has in common with other “ultra cool dwarfs” the team has surveyed.

“It is fair to say there is much we don’t know. Where I am hopeful is that we will know if flares are important, we will know if tidal locking is relevant to habitability and maybe to the emergence of biology,” he explained.

“Many of the arguments in favor or disfavor of habitability can be flipped in that way. First and foremost we need observations.”

In addition to the Spitzer observations, astronomers gathered data using Very Large Telescope in Chile, the Liverpool Telescope in La Palma, Spain, and others.

Selling your home can be a drawn out, expensive, and stressful affair, so you want to go about it the best way you can. Your estate agent will play a big part in this, and should be chosen to save you as much time, money, and hassle as possible.

That’s why we recommend using an online estate agent rather than traditional high street names. Likely to cost less, have a larger audience of potential purchasers, and make the whole process go more quickly, they can be a great alternative to doing things the old-fashioned way.

Here are just three of the reasons that we recommend enlisting one to sell your property…

#1: Online Estate Agents Usually Cost Less

If you take the time to consider any modern industry, you’ll soon come to the conclusion that online enterprises usually have lower overheads, and are happy to pass these savings on to their customers to increase their competitiveness. This applies to estate agents as much as any other professionals, and most internet ventures will charge significantly less than their high street counterparts, which means that if you would like an easy way to cut back on your costs, a company like Hatched could be the answer.

#2: Online Estate Agents Usually Have a Larger Audience of Potential Purchasers

When it comes to buying, whether it’s a home, a new mobile phone, or a holiday, most people now start their search online. According to the latest statistics, 80 per cent of all property purchasers do their shopping through the World Wide Web, and technologically savvy Generation Y account for 68 per cent of all first-time home buyers. This gives online estate agents a huge audience to mine, and means that for as long as your property is being advertised on the internet, it is being seen by a vast number of would-be purchasers.

#3: You’ll Have Greater Control Over the Sales Process

When you sell online, you have the additional boon of being able to control the process to a greater degree. Most agencies will allow you to manage fundamental aspects of the sale, from arranging viewings to talking with prospective buyers. This means that you can conduct these yourself, showing interested parties around and developing a direct relationship with them from day one. This gives you the chance to be involved in key phases, whilst still being able to leave the tricky bits to the professionals.

If you’re looking for a superior alternative to your local estate agent, could an online enterprise be the best option for you?

You’ve been in business for a couple of years, defying the odds and keeping your company from becoming another failed business statistic. You’ve hired what you believe to be a strong and capable staff and credit them with your company’s success.

Lately, you’ve noticed a growing turnover rate. It seems like the longest an employee stays is six months, then they hand in a two-week notice; that is if you’re lucky—some just skip out. You’re not sure what’s going on. Once you’ve filled one position another opens, and it’s not because of rapid promoting.

There’s something amiss, and if you want your business to make it to the five-year mark and beyond, you need to figure it now. But management doesn’t have a concise answer as to why people are leaving the company, so what can be done about this?

Management Troubles

According to Forbes Magazine, 50 percent of workers surveyed in a Gallup poll reported that they left their job “to get away from their manager.” In the long run, it won’t matter if you have an all-star staff, if management isn’t nurturing their potential, recognizing their hard work or serving in some sort of mentorship capacity, they will look elsewhere and leave your company.

There are three personality types that make a bad manager, and if any members of your leadership team exhibit these qualities, you’ll need to reevaluate your own management style and may even need to reshuffle the deck.

The Flash in the Pan

This team member demonstrated they were a quick-starter and go-getter early on. They took feedback well and adjusted their work to reflect the company’s mission and made their end goal the success of the company. There was no question that they would be promoted, and with just a few months under their belt, you promoted them to a management position.

Functioning much like a startup, you trust that your staff is getting their work done when they work remotely, but this manager makes only weekly appearances in the office and has not shared their calendar with their department. No one knows if they’ll be in the office and employees have a hard time getting ahold of the manager. It would appear that they think being a manager means going to pub cons and hosting cocktail hour with potential clients, not keeping the staff abreast of company news or following through on staff questions and meetings. Also referred to as “the ghost,” this type of manager does not inspire employee loyalty.

Management Tactics: Make it a rule that all management must be in the office when employees are. Conduct a weekly meeting with this manager and their department to see where they are in their work and to learn of any discrepancies. If there is a client meeting that must take place, the head of the company will manage it.

The Peer

This type of manager worries about not being liked by their subordinates and will do anything to stay on their good side, even if that means making some questionable calls that could hurt the business.

Who you put in charge will dramatically affect the success of your business. If a manager should spend their day on Facebook making comments on your employees’ status updates, there’s going to be trouble, especially if they make a disparaging comment from the company’s social media page in an effort to be funny. When that happens and an upset employee threatens to sue, business insurance will cover the cost—but you’ll still lose a valuable staff member.

Management Tactics: Set internet usage rules. Management and employees alike cannot update their social media feeds while at work, and management must make sure that all conversations taking place between management and staff are politically correct.

The Identity Thief

This person takes all of the good ideas and work of their employees and marks it as their own. The only time this type of manager doesn’t take responsibility for something is when a project falls flat, only then will they say another team member worked on it.

Management Tactics: Call this manager out. Ask who has and continues to work on the projects and demand that the meetings be led by the team, not the manager alone.

No one is perfect, and going from being a staff member to manager takes time to adjust. Make sure you are giving every member of your staff the tools they need to succeed.

SpaceX has successfully launched the Dragon CRS-10 (2) mission carrying a cargo ship for the International Space Station (ISS) following the postponement of take-off on February 18 because of technical problems.

Witnesses said the Dragon rocket was only briefly visible before making its way into the clouds.

The launch was made from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

The rocket booster successfully landed on the ground nine minutes after taking off.

The touchdown is part of SpaceX’s strategy of returning rockets to earth so they can be reused rather than jettisoning them in the ocean after a single launch.

Moments after the rocket landed, the SpaceX Dragon supply ship successfully reached orbit, prompting cheers inside the SpaceX Mission Control room.

The Dragon is now making its way to the ISS, and is expected to arrive on February 22.

On January 14, SpaceX resumed flights by launching a Falcon 9 vehicle from the Vandenberg Air Force Base on the California coast.

It was the first mission by the private rocket company since one of its vehicles exploded on the launch pad in September.

The company founder, Elon Musk, wants SpaceX to be at the forefront of the race involving several companies to deploy satellite-based internet services over the next few years.

SpaceX also has a long queue of customers all waiting for a ride to orbit – including America’s civil space agency (NASA), the US military and multiple outfits in the commercial sector.

India has successfully launched a record number of 104 satellites on a single mission, overtaking the previous record of 37 satellites launched by Russia in 2014.

All but three of the satellites are from foreign countries, most of them from the United States.

The launch took place from the Sriharikota space center in east India.

According to observers, it is a sign that India is emerging as a major player in the multi-billion dollar space market.

Project director B Jayakumar was quoted as saying by Reuters: “This is a great moment for each and every one of us. Today we have created history.”

Indian PM Narendra Modi was among the first to congratulate the scientists tweeting: “This remarkable feat by @isro is yet another proud moment for our space scientific community and the nation. India salutes our scientists.”

The phrase “world record” has also been trending on Twitter India on February 15.

Of the 104 small satellites, 96 belong to the US while Israel, Kazakhstan, the United Arab Emirates, Switzerland and the Netherlands are the other foreign clients.

A majority of the satellites have earth-imaging capability and belong to American company Planet.

An Indian cartographic satellite, believed to be capable of taking high resolution images is also on board. It is expected to be used to monitor regional arch rivals Pakistan and China.

India has increased the 2017 budget for its space program and also announced plans to send a mission to Venus.

Over the past two decades, India has become a key player in the lucrative commercial space market offering a low-cost alternative.

A tiny moth from California has become the first creature named after President-elect Donald Trump.

The Neopalpa donaldtrumpi has a very recognizable “hairstyle”.

The tiny moth was discovered in California by Canadian researcher Vazrick Nazari.

The name was inspired by the striking golden flakes covering its head, which Vazrick Nazari likened to the soon-to-be 45th president of the United States’ famous mop.

Nine species were named after President Barack Obama during his term in office.

What Donald Trump will make of the honor remains to be seen – especially as the tiny moth, with its wingspan of just more than a centimeter, is native to southern California and the Mexican region of Baja California.

However, Vazrick Nazari said he hoped it would inspire President Trump to prioritize ecological issues during his term in office.

Vazrick Nazari told Live Science: “I hope that the president will make conservation of such fragile ecosystems in the US his top priority. These ecosystems still contain many undiscovered and undescribed species, and deserve to be protected for future generations.”

SpaceX has resumed flights, launching a new Falcon 9 rocket, Iridium-1 NEXT, from the Vandenberg Air Force Base on the California coast.

It is the first mission by SpaceX since one of its vehicles exploded on the launch pad in September 2016.

The return to operations sees SpaceX start to renew what was the original global handheld satellite phone network, run by Iridium.

Lift-off took place at 09:54 local time on January 14.

A few minutes later, the first stage of the rocket landed successfully on a platform in the Pacific Ocean. An hour and 15 minutes after launch, the mission was complete with the Iridium payload safely in orbit.

SpaceX must now follow through with a steady but rapid series of further flights.

It has a long queue of customers all waiting for a ride to orbit – including NASA, the nation’s military, and multiple outfits in the commercial sector.

Iridium has six further missions it wants to complete with SpaceX inside the next 18 months.

On this flight were 10 spacecraft for the Iridium satellite voice and data company. The batch represents the first phase in the roll-out of Iridium’s NEXT constellation.

A total of 81 satellites have been ordered from the European manufacturer Thales Alenia Space to completely overhaul the original but now ageing network.

Matt Desch, chief executive officer of Iridium, said: “Today Iridium launches a new era in the history of our company and a new era in space as we start to deliver the next-generation of satellite communications.

“We have been working endless hours for the last eight years to get to this day, and to finally be here with 10 Iridium NEXT satellites successfully launched into low-Earth orbit is a fulfilling moment.”

Iridium-1 is famous for being the very first commercial company to provide global, hand-held satphone coverage, and supplying voice connections to anywhere on the planet is still very much part of its business.

Its network has increasingly been used to feed data from remote systems, such as pipelines, ocean buoys, and mining equipment.

Iridium-1 has become a big player in what is termed M2M, or “machine to machine” services. And SpaceX is banking on that market getting ever bigger as more and more systems are linked together.

An extra second will be added to this year to compensate for a slowdown in the Earth’s rotation.

The leap second will occur as clocks strike midnight and a time of 23:59:60 will be recorded, delaying 2017 momentarily.

An extra second last occurred in June 2015 and this will be the 27th time it has occurred.

The change is required because standard time lags behind atomic clocks.

Atomic clocks use ultraviolet signals emitted in the change of electron energy levels to tell the time.

The time created by the clocks is used in GPS location devices and is used to control the wave frequency of television broadcasts.

The International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service in France tracks the Earth’s rotation and announces the need for a leap second.

During a high-security Christmas Mass at the Vatican, Pope Francis has said that the true meaning of Christmas is being drowned out by materialism.

The Pope also denounced the continuing suffering of children.

The head of the Roman Catholic Church mentioned those who faced hunger, danger on migration routes and bombing in Syrian cities such as Aleppo.

Those taking part in Christmas Eve service inside St Peter’s Basilica had to pass through metal detectors.

The Mass celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ is the first major event of the Christmas season for the Pope, which will include his noon blessing on Christmas Day.

During the service, Pope Francis said Christmas had been “taken hostage” by materialism, and that the season needed more humility.

The pontiff said people now lived in a time “when the lights of commerce cast the light of God into the shadows, when we are concerned for gifts, but cold toward those who are marginalized”.

Throughout the past year, Pope Francis has urged compassion towards refugees, urging Christians to remember that Jesus himself was a migrant.

NASA’s Cassini mission has sent back the first views from its new orbit around Saturn.

In November, Cassini spacecraft began a new phase of its mission – one that involves making a series of daredevil maneuvers over the next nine months.

The phase will end with Cassini being destroyed in the atmosphere of a planet it has been studying for 12 years.

The new photos show the hexagon-shaped storm in Saturn’s northern hemisphere.

Cassini began what are known as its ring-grazing orbits on November 30. Each of these week-long orbits – 20 in all – lifts the spacecraft high above Saturn’s northern hemisphere before sending it hurtling past the outer edges of the planet’s main rings.

NASA said that it would release images from future passes that included some of the closest-ever views of the outer rings and small moons that orbit there.

Head of Cassini’s imaging team Carolyn Porco said: “This is it, the beginning of the end of our historic exploration of Saturn.

“Let these images – and those to come – remind you that we’ve lived a bold and daring adventure around the Solar System’s most magnificent planet.”

The destructive ending being planned for Cassini is a result of the spacecraft having nearly exhausted its fuel.

However, NASA is also concerned about the small, yet important possibility that the probe will crash into one of Saturn’s moons at some point in the future.

Given that some of these bodies, such as Enceladus, are potential targets in the search for extra-terrestrial life, it has the potential to contaminate these bodies with terrestrial microbes borne on Cassini.

Starting from April 2017, Cassini will begin its grand finale, in which it will make the first of 22 dives through the 2,400km gap between the planet and its innermost ring.

Cassini will make its final plunge into the atmosphere of Saturn on September 15, 2017.

An ancient city that dates back more than 5,000 years, containing houses, tools, pottery and huge graves has been unearthed in Egypt.

The city lies by the river Nile, close to the Temple of Seti the First in Abydos.

According to experts, the size of the 15 newly discovered graves indicates the high social standing of those buried.

It is believed the city was home to important officials and tomb builders and would have flourished during early-era ancient Egyptian times.

Archaeologists say the discovery could be a boost for Egypt’s struggling tourism industry which has been in the doldrums since President Hosni Mubarak was overthrown in 2011.

They have made a range of finds in the newly-discovered city including buildings, shards of pottery and tools.

It is believed that this location was home to important officials and tomb builders who may have been engaged in the construction of royal graves in the nearby sacred city of Abydos – a place of many temples, and a capital in an early period of ancient Egyptian history.

The discovery comes at a time when Egypt is trying to re-energize its hugely important tourism industry, which has suffered badly as a result of protracted political turmoil.

Officials quoted in the Egypt Independent said the discovery was made by an archaeological mission that belongs to the country’s Antiquities Ministry, and not a foreign group.

Observers are preparing for the “supermoon” as Earth’s satellite makes its closest approach since 1948.

Europe’s best chance to see it will be on Monday evening, November 14, although the Moon will be at its closest – only 221,524 miles away – at 11:21 GMT.

To viewers, the Moon will appear about 7% larger than normal and about 15% brighter – although the human eye is barely able to discern that difference.

Yet the Moon won’t be this close again until November 25, 2034.

Extra-supermoon, the largest and brightest full moon of the year, will be rising on the evening of August 10

As the Moon traces its orbit around the Earth, we see different proportions illuminated by the Sun. Once in each orbit, our satellite is totally illuminated – a full moon.

As the Moon orbits the Earth every 27 days or so, it travels in an elliptical or oval shape.

This means that its distance from our planet is not constant but varies across a full orbit.

Within this uneven orbit there are further variations caused by the Earth’s movements around the Sun.

These mean that the perigee – the closest approach – and full moon are not always in sync.

However, occasions when the perigee and full moon coincide have become known in popular parlance as supermoons.

To observers, the differences between a supermoon and a normal full moon are quite subtle.

Generally, supermoons can be up to 14% larger and 30% brighter, but only when compared with the furthest point the Moon gets to within its orbit.

Thousands of natural snowballs appeared on the Gulf of Ob’s beach, in northwest Siberia.

An 11-mile stretch of coast was covered in the icy spheres.

The snowballs range from the size of a tennis ball to almost 3ft across.

The spheres result from a rare environmental process where small pieces of ice form, are rolled by wind and water, and end up as giant snowballs.

Locals in the village of Nyda, which lies on the Yamal Peninsula just above the Arctic Circle, say they have never seen anything to compare to them.

Russian TV quoted an explanation from Sergei Lisenkov, press secretary of the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute: “As a rule, first there is a primary natural phenomenon – sludge ice, slob ice. Then comes a combination of the effects of the wind, the lay of the coastline, and the temperature and wind conditions.

“It can be such an original combination that it results in the formation of balls like these.”

In December 2014, a similar phenomenon was witnessed in the Gulf of Finland; and on Lake Michigan in December 2015, the Ura.ru website said.

According to a recent research, Myanmar, formerly known as Burma, has the world’s most generous people.

The CAF World Giving Index 2016 found that people in Iraq are the kindest to strangers, while Myanmar’s residents give the most away.

In the last month, eight in 10 Iraqis have helped someone they don’t know, with Libyans helping almost as many.

During the same period, 91% of those in Myanmar have given money to charity.

In comparison, 63% of Americans – the second most generous overall – have donated money, with 73% helping a stranger.

The annual ranking places Myanmar at the top of the list for the third year in a row, with more than half the population donating time and 63% helping a stranger.

The report said the generous giving reflected the practice of “Sangha Dana”, where Myanmar’s Theravada Buddhist majority donate to support those living a monastic lifestyle.

The overall table, which takes into account financial donations, help offered to strangers and volunteering, ranks the UK as the most generous place in Europe, the United Arab Emirates in the Middle East, Kenya in Africa and Guatemala in Latin America.

China is named as the least generous country.

However, the poll only takes into account the responses of 1,000 people on average in each of the 140 countries, and the Charities Aid Foundation acknowledges there is margin for error.

However, it is the kindness of Iraqis and Libyans to complete strangers in the face of years of conflict and terrible violence which stands out in the list.

You’ve decided to sell online. Congratulations. Ecommerce offers opportunities that were previously not available to entrepreneurs. However, competition for online customers is as fierce with more options available to consumers than ever before.

Ensuring that you’re able to meet your customers’ needs and requirements is paramount to standing out from your many competitors and growing your online presence. The platform you choose will play a major role in this, thus the enterprise ecommerce platform-comparison process should not be taken lightly.

Ecommerce has come a long way to meet consumer needs. As consumer needs have changed so have functionality and features of ecommerce websites. For example, you won’t find any successful ecommerce website today that’s not optimized for mobile.

So consider the following when choosing the right platform for your online business.

1. The costs

As a business owner, money will always play an important role in the decisions you make. Make sure you not only go for a platform that you can afford, but one that offers the features you need to grow. What does the pricing structure look like? What are the hosting fees, transaction fees and payment card fees? These small fees may seem inconsequential, but they add up. Shop around and compare what each platform is offering in their pricing structure and then align that to your specific website needs.

2. Setup speed

How long will it take you to go live and start making money? Some ecommerce platforms will have your store up and running in a matter of a few hours. Others may require several months to deploy your website. Development time should be considered as it determines how soon you can begin making money.

3. Level of skill required to administer website

What level of skill do you have and what level is required to administer and manage the website once it is live? If you’re not familiar with web development, choose a platform that is straightforward and easy to use. You will want to spend as little time as possible learning about features and functions in order to manage your website.

4. Speed and scalability

Speed is vital for conversions. Estimations by Fast Company show that a decrease in Amazon’s page-loading speed of one second would result in a $1.6 billion annual loss.

In considering speed, you should note that your business will not always be what it is today. If you play your cards right, your business will grow. Your needs will grow in proportion to your business. You should therefore choose a platform that will allow you to scale up when the need arises.

5. Level and availability of support

One of the benefits of fully hosted ecommerce platforms is the availability of support. However, not all ecommerce platforms offer good support.

Poor support means that your website is likely to experience extended periods of downtime when there is a problem. This can be very costly. Amazon experienced a two-hour website crash in 2007, resulting in an estimated $3.48 million in losses.

You could lose a lot in revenue if you don’t have the right kind of support. The ecommerce platform you choose should have 24-hour support and monitoring. They should also provide assistance for scaling up to meet growth during seasonal peaks.

6. Integration and customization

What level of customization does the website allow? Can you integrate tools that you consider important for the functioning of your website? A good platform offers a high level of customization. This allows you to determine the image you present to your target audience.

The platform should also allow for integration with the following for greater flexibility: warehouse management systems, inventory, and various payment gateways.

Take your time in considering different ecommerce platforms. Ensure that the solution you choose will meet your specific requirements. Different platforms are available to meet the needs of different types of businesses. Be as thorough as possible up front and you’ll be glad once your business is growing through a platform that complements your offering.
