X-Men: Days of Future Past tops US box office with $91 million
X-Men: Days of Future Past has topped the US box office, taking an estimated $91 million.
With totals expected to top more than $110 million over the Memorial Day weekend, X-Men: Days of Future Past has left last week’s number one movie, Godzilla, in its wake.
Godzilla earned $31.4 million bringing its total US tally to $149 million since its release.
Blended, starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, took the third spot.
The rom-com, which sees Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore reunite on the big screen for a third time, took a disappointing $14.2 million.
Seth Rogen and Zac Efron comedy Neighbors took $14 million, taking it over the $100 million in the US while The Amazing Spider-Man 2 rounded out the top five with $8 million in its fourth weekend on release.
X-Men: Days of Future Past, a time-travelling sequel to the 2011 reboot of the X-Men franchise sees Wolverine, played by Hugh Jackman, being sent from a dystopian future back to 1973 to save the future of mutantkind.
