Following the recent announcement of former President Joe Biden’s aggressive prostate cancer diagnosis, far-right activist and prominent Donald Trump ally Laura Loomer has been at the forefront of amplifying conspiracy theories regarding the timing and transparency of the disclosure. Her claims, widely disseminated on social media, have fueled a narrative suggesting a deliberate cover-up of Biden’s health during his time in office.
Biden’s office announced on Sunday that the 82-year-old received a diagnosis of prostate cancer with metastasis to the bone on Friday, May 16th. The cancer is characterized by a Gleason score of 9, indicating a highly aggressive form. This revelation has led to renewed scrutiny of the transparency of presidential health records and the completeness of past disclosures.
Loomer, known for her controversial and often unsubstantiated claims, seized upon the news to push a long-held theory that Biden’s health issues were more severe than publicly stated while he was president. She claimed on social media platforms that she had previously reported on Biden having a “terminal illness” last year, suggesting the current diagnosis was timed to coincide with the release of a new book, “Original Sin” by Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson, which reportedly details concerns among Biden’s aides about his physical and mental decline during his final months in office.
“He could die in two months,” Loomer posted, characterizing the entire episode as a “media-managed PR strategy.” She and other figures on the right have questioned how such an advanced and aggressive cancer could have gone undetected during Biden’s routine annual physicals as president, alleging a “cover-up.”
However, medical experts have offered various perspectives on the prostate cancer diagnosis. While some have expressed surprise that such an aggressive cancer could be newly diagnosed at this stage, others have noted that current medical guidelines for men over 70 do not always recommend routine PSA screenings. Additionally, some cancers can be aggressive and progress rapidly, or may not show up in blood tests. Biden’s office clarified that his last known PSA test for prostate cancer was in 2014, and he had never been diagnosed with prostate cancer before May 16th.

The White House had previously addressed a 2022 video clip where Biden briefly mentioned having “cancer.” At the time, the White House clarified that he was referring to past treatments for non-melanoma skin cancers, which were fully removed. This clarification, however, has not deterred those promoting conspiracy theories.
Loomer’s claims align with a broader pattern of skepticism from some political commentators and Trump allies regarding official narratives surrounding Biden’s health. While President Trump himself offered well wishes to Biden, his son, Donald Trump Jr., also questioned the timing and suggested a “cover up.”
The ongoing discourse around Biden’s health, amplified by figures like Laura Loomer, underscores the pervasive nature of political conspiracy theories in the digital age. Despite official medical statements and explanations, these narratives continue to circulate, influencing a segment of the public and contributing to a climate of distrust around established institutions and figures.
